00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today we're talking about the lightweight, affordable, yet robust Messer truck camper from US manufacturer Topo Toppers,
00:10which was developed specifically for pickup trucks.
00:14If you can't afford or don't want to buy a huge caravan or a new vehicle, you'll find a clever alternative here.
00:21A compact, attachable camper that fits on the bed of a pickup truck, whether it's a medium-sized or full-sized truck.
00:30The Mesa is the basic model in the range from Topo Toppers, a small family business that was founded three years ago after building its first camper.
00:40The model is aimed at price-conscious adventurers.
00:43The version for medium-sized trucks costs around €65,000.
00:47The version for full-size pickups starts at around €7,000.
00:53The Messer camper is placed on the loading area, with part of the structure extending beyond the cabin.
01:00The lower area offers enclosed storage space, while a roof tent extends above it.
01:06Ideal for a restful night in nature.
01:09The camper is made entirely of aluminum sheets and tubes, which are precisely cut with lasers and shaped using CNC.
01:16The individual components are then connected using a 43-gauge multi-skin welding wire using the ticking process and provided with a Tiger DRYC powder coating, which ensures weather resistance.
01:30In addition, a variety of sealants are used to prevent moisture from getting in.
01:34The roof tent is also produced entirely in-house.
01:40The top and bottom are made of aluminum, while the tent walls are made of WeatherMax 80, a polyester fabric that is otherwise used in shipping and can therefore withstand even the toughest conditions.
01:51The interior offers plenty of space for clothing, camping furniture, sleeping bags or fishing equipment.
02:00Even a cool box such as the Dometic Recon can be stowed away.
02:05There is a mall carrier system behind the driver's cab.
02:09The camper is easy to load.
02:10The rear flap is raised by gas pressure springs and there is an additional access on the left side.
02:17Once you have reached your destination, simply open the tailgate, fold up the back and you are ready to go.
02:24The roof tent can be opened with a light push.
02:27The gas pressure springs do the rest.
02:30A particularly clever detail, the sleeping surface is adjustable.
02:34This allows you to adapt it to your height or space requirements.
02:37If desired, the MESA can also be equipped with lighting on the solar panels and portable battery banks.
02:45One small downside, the empty weight is only mentioned on the manufacturer's FAQ page.
02:51It is a maximum of 113 kilograms for the basic version.
02:56All extras such as a side door, electrics, solar panel or mall system are subject to a charge.
03:02Anyone who upgrades the camper to about half the capacity with additional equipment should expect to pay around
03:072,600 euros extra.
03:10Whether this investment is worthwhile naturally depends on personal taste.
03:15If you want to form your own opinion, you can contact Topo Toppers directly or travel to Ventura, California to experience the MESA in person.
03:24As always, you can find the link to the full article in the video description.
