00:00Welcome to the video from the CarMagazine Tuning Blog, where today we're talking about the all-new Lexus S for model year 2026, which will be launched in S-Class format as both a full hybrid and an electric version.
00:17Now in its 8th generation since 1989, the sedan premiered at the Auto Shanghai and will replace its predecessor, which has only been on sale here since 2018, in Europe from Spring 2026.
00:30Externally, the S introduces a fresh Lexus design language.
00:35The distinctive Diablo grille is gone. Instead, narrow LED daytime running strips above compact headlights and air intakes in the lower bumper characterize the tapered front end.
00:46Strictly geometric lines dominate the sides, while at the rear a narrow LED light bar with brand lettering and a small trunk lid maintain the classic sedan concept despite its fastback silhouette.
01:00At 5.14 m long, the ES is 16.5 cm longer, bringing it close to the Mercedes S-Class. It is just under 2 m wide and around 1.6 m high. The wheelbase stretches by 8 cm to almost 3 m.
01:18These dimensions add up to 11 cm of knee space. Seat backs with adjustable tilt are available depending on the equipment.
01:28In the interior, which Lexus calls Clean Tech X Elegance, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster replaces the brand logo with the name in full.
01:37A 14-inch touchscreen handles the main controls, while climate functions and seat adjustment are elegantly integrated into a decorative strip.
01:47Apart from a few switches for gears and windows, the S completely dispenses with physical buttons.
01:54Improved seals and acoustic glass should further reduce noise.
01:57Three drivetrain variants are planned for Europe.
02:02The Lexus ES300H combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 201 hp and an as-yet-undisclosed electric motor.
02:12Drive is via the front wheels as standard. All-wheel drive is optional.
02:16The S350E is all-electric with front-wheel drive and 224 hp, while the all-wheel drive ES500E has a system output of 343 hp thanks to two motors.
02:31Power distribution can be fully varied between the front and rear axles as needed.
02:36Information on battery capacities, kilowatt-hours, and ranges is still pending.
02:41The current ES300H starts here in Germany as a hybrid at around €55,000.
02:48Given the significant increase in size, the successor is likely to be somewhat more expensive.
02:55We'll know more in about a year, when the new Lexus ES will be rolling out to Germany as a hybrid and electric sedan.
03:02As always, you'll find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
