Hurricane Melissa has left a devastating trail across the Caribbean, becoming the most powerful storm to ever strike Jamaica. With winds reaching 185mph, Melissa tore through communities, destroying homes and leaving millions without power. Cuba and Haiti were also hit hard, with flash floods and landslides adding to the destruction.

But the chaos didn’t stop there. Cyclone Montha flooded parts of India, while historic rainfall submerged Vietnam’s cities and heritage sites.

00:04And it's left behind a disaster the region will never forget.
00:07It struck Jamaica first as a Category 5 monster.
00:11Winds howled at 185 miles per hour.
00:14Western Jamaica was hit the hardest.
00:16In Black River, 90% of homes were damaged or completely destroyed.
00:20Three-quarters of the country lost power.
00:22At least 19 lives were lost.
00:24Even after it passed, thunderstorms slowed rescue efforts.
