00:23The first Porsche 911 with hybrid technology is being launched in the GTST hybrid variant, but without the plug-in function.
00:35Visually, the new 911 remains largely unchanged, apart from a few details on the front and rear aprons.
00:41Inside, a revised digital instrument cluster with a diagonal of 12.6 inches provides a modern appearance and replaces the traditional analog rev counter, opening up new display options.
00:58However, the coveted head-up display is still missing, as is the option of a plug-in hybrid.
01:03Frank Moser, head of the 911 and 718 model series, explains that numerous ideas and approaches were tested in order to develop a hybrid system that is a perfect fit for the 911 and significantly increases its performance.
01:18The result is a unique drive system that seamlessly integrates into the overall concept of the 911.
01:26The six-cylinder boxer engine of the Porsche 911T hybrid has been completely redesigned and thus returns to a displacement of 3.6L.
01:36Instead of the previous twin turbo, the new MK2 generation of the 911 is now equipped with a single turbo.
01:43In order to meet the changing load requirements of the driver without delay, the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission has been supplemented with a small electric motor.
01:54This permanently excited synchronous machine delivers 56 horsepower and a maximum torque of 150 Nm and is available from idle speed.
02:02The Tybred is also equipped with an electric exhaust gas turbocharger, whose 15-horsepower electric motor is installed invisibly between the compressor and turbine wheel.
02:16This ensures that the turbocharger reaches speed without delay and builds up boost pressure immediately.
02:22Both electric motors are powered by a high-capacity battery with a capacity of just 1.9 kW, which is integrated in the front of the car and operates with a 400-volt system.
02:32Overall, the hybrid drive adds an additional 40 kg to the 900, while the curb weight is not further increased by the use of a 100-volt lithium-ion battery for the other consumers.
02:49The lack of a plug-in hybrid system or a larger battery means that the new Porsche 911GTS with hybrid technology cannot cover short distances electrically.
02:58Nevertheless, the electric motors increase the output of the 3.6-liter turbo-boxer from an already impressive 485 hp and 570 Nm to 541 hp and 610 Nm.
03:13This change only leads to marginal changes in performance compared to its non-electrified predecessor, and the standard fuel consumption remains almost unchanged.
03:21However, Porsche developers point out that there will be significant improvements at high kilometers per hour.
03:30The technology of the new basic version of the Porsche 911 Carrera remains largely unchanged.
03:36The entry-level model retains a displacement of 3.0 liters with a twin-turbo and does without the electric modules of the hybrid.
03:45Nevertheless, the new Carrera offers an increase in power to 394 hp and 450 Nm as well as slightly improved driving performance with a top speed of 294 km per hour.
03:57The 911 versions can optionally be equipped with mixed tires after the facelift, with the GTS and later turbo versions receiving rear axle steering as standard.
