00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog about the ALF Aeronautics Model A.
00:11As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
00:17The company ALF Aeronautics has developed the Model A, a flyable car, which has now
00:22completed its first official flight. On February 19, 2025, the test model of the Model A took off
00:31in an urban area and even flew over another vehicle. In a post on LinkedIn, ALF Aeronautics CEO
00:38Jim Dubny explained that this video is the first documented and verifiable recording of a real
00:44free-flying car with a vertical takeoff. Jim Dubny also emphasized that he has often been asked why
00:52no recordings of the flying car have been released so far. He explained that as a startup, the company
01:00has to protect its intellectual property rights and therefore has not made all developments public.
01:07Safety is the top priority, which is why they wanted to present the vehicle only when it was
01:12deemed sufficiently safe for consumers. He invites interested parties to contact him for more
01:19information about the test flight, its location, and the next steps.
01:25The Model A is ALF Aeronautics' first flying car intended for the commercial market.
01:33It has the shape of a conventional vehicle, making it suitable for use on roads and in regular parking
01:39lots. Its driving range is 200 miles, while it can travel 110 miles in the air.
01:46To ensure the car remains stable in flight, a gimbal-suspended cabin was installed.
01:55It also features an elevon system, which controls vertical and horizontal movements as well as the
02:01vehicle's pitch. Visible propellers were omitted for safety reasons. The Model A's technical features
02:10include multiple redundancy of its key systems, which, depending on the component, should provide
02:15three to eight times the safety. The vehicle is also equipped with obstacle detection, an evasion
02:22system, a glide landing function, and a ballistic parachute. Following the successful first flight of
02:29the test model, the team will conduct further flight tests, software simulation, and analysis before
02:35production begins. The Model A is currently the first vertical takeoff vehicle to receive official flight
02:42approval from the Federal Aviation Administration in the United States. The Model A is a fully electric
02:49vehicle. Alf Aeronautics claims that it consumes less energy per trip than a Tesla or other electric
02:57vehicles and is even more energy efficient than electric vertical takeoff taxis.
03:02While the Model R is the commercial variant, the Model 0 is a test model used exclusively for research
03:11and development purposes. It is believed that this model completed the first successful flight.
03:21In the future, Alf Aeronautics plans to develop the Model Z, a four-seat flying car that can be used as a
03:28sedan. Market launch is planned for 2035. It will have a flight range of 200 miles and a travel distance
03:37of 400 miles on the road. Unlike its predecessors, this model will have autonomous flight capability.
03:47However, it remains unclear when series production of Alf Aeronautics flying cars will begin.
