00:00Welcome to the video of the Car Magazine Tuning Blog, where today we take a look at the new Wuling Honggong Mini EV from GM.
00:14This small electric vehicle has been an absolute bestseller in China since its initial introduction in 2020, achieving over 1,400,000 sales.
00:23With the revised model, the manufacturer is now breaking new ground in order to withstand the growing competition in the world of ultra-budget electric cars.
00:35The new generation of the Wuling Honggong Mini EV has not only increased in size, but also fundamentally changed its design.
00:43Instead of the previous angular shape, the Mini EV now presents itself with a rounder, friendlier look, which is strongly reminiscent of the larger Wuling Bingo EV.
00:53The softer headlights and the curved silhouette are particularly eye-catching.
00:59With its playful proportions and small 13-inch wheels, it remains true to its identity as a compact city car.
01:08A highlight is the new 5-door option, which significantly improves everyday usability compared to the 3-door model, which is still available.
01:16Both variants share the same front and rear design, with differences only visible from the side.
01:27At 3.2 meters long, 1.5 meters wide and 1.6 meters high, the new Mini EV is a whopping 336 millimeters longer than its predecessor.
01:37The wheelbase has also been extended by 250 millimeters to 2.2 meters, which is particularly beneficial for rear passengers.
01:48The interior has also been modernized.
01:51The dashboard features a digital cockpit with two separate displays, while physical rotary knobs for the air conditioning and a matching gear selector between the seats ensure convenient operation.
02:02The elongated vehicle structure results in a more spacious interior, especially for rear seat occupants.
02:10In terms of technology, however, the Wuling Hong Mini EV remains unchanged.
02:17A single 40-horsepower electric motor mounted at the rear provides the drive.
02:21The energy is supplied by a lithium-ion phosphate battery, the capacity of which has not yet been announced, but is likely to offer similar ranges to the current model.
02:35This one comes with the largest available battery of 26 hours of battery life and a range of up to 280 kilometers.
02:43Production of the new model has already begun and the first vehicles have been spotted in Chinese car dealerships.
02:49Pre-orders will start shortly, while final prices are yet to be announced.
02:56However, they are expected to be in a similar range to its predecessor, which had a starting price of around 4,200 euros.
