00:00Welcome to the Tuning Blog Video, where today we will take a close look at the new Smart Mode 3.
00:13The Smart 3 is the brand's latest model and represents a significant development compared to previous vehicles.
00:19While the Smart vehicles from 198 to 2022 were primarily known as minimalist city cars, the new Smart 3 presents itself as a powerful SUV coupe with impressive performance and modern design.
00:37This vehicle is the result of a collaboration between Mercedes and the Chinese car manufacturer Gilly.
00:43Mercedes holds 49% of the shares in this joint venture, while Gilly owns 51%.
00:51From the perspective of German customers, this partnership is extremely positive, as it has produced an electric car that enriches the market and sets new standards.
01:02At first glance, the Smart Hobie impresses with its dynamic and sporty appearance.
01:07The body is 13 cm longer than that of the Smart one, which gives the vehicle a more elongated and elegant silhouette.
01:18The coupe roof sloping towards the rear and the muscular, wider flanks emphasize the sporty character and ensure a striking presence on the road.
01:29The manufacturer describes the Smart Knob 3 as an SUV coupe and this concept is successfully implemented in the design.
01:36The high-quality impression continues in the interior.
01:40The interior has a modern design with clear lines and high-quality materials.
01:46There are only a few physical buttons, which gives the cockpit a tidy and futuristic appearance.
01:53A 12.8-inch screen dominates the center console and provides access to all the important functions of the vehicle.
01:59The round air vents give the interior a special touch and distinguish the Smart Knob 3 from the smaller Smart MIM-1.
02:08State-of-the-art electrical technology is hidden under the hood.
02:13In the basic version, the Smart Knob 3 has an output of 200 kW and a torque of 343 Nm.
02:20Despite weighing 1.8 tons, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 5.8 seconds.
02:30The top speed is limited to 180 km per hour, which is more than sufficient for an electric car in this class.
02:37A special highlight is the option to choose between different battery options.
02:43In addition to the standard battery with a capacity of 66 kWh, there is a less expensive version with 49 kWh.
02:52This smaller battery is based on Lithium Iron Phosphate Technology, LFP, and enables a range of 325 km according to WLTP.
03:01The basic version of the Smart Net 3 with the smaller battery is available from 38,490 euros, which makes the vehicle accessible to a wider audience.
03:12The Smart 3 is also flexible when it comes to charging.
03:16The basic version of the car can be charged at fast charging stations with up to 130 kW, in the higher equipment variants, even with up to 150 kW.
03:28This means that the battery can be recharged in a short time.
03:31This is particularly advantageous on longer journeys.
03:36When charging with alternating current, the basic version of the Smart 3 is designed for 7.2 kW, and from the Pro Plus version onwards it can even be charged for 22 kW.
03:46This charging capacity also allows the battery to be charged in a reasonable amount of time at public charging stations or at home.
03:53The assistance systems of the Smart 3 are modern and user-friendly.
03:57The lane-keeping assistant works precisely and unobtrusively, intervening gently and allowing easy override if necessary.
04:07This ensures a high level of safety without patronizing the driver.
04:11However, there are occasional discrepancies between the speed displayed on the display and the acoustic warning when it comes to speed limit warnings.
04:21In this case, it is advisable to trust the actual traffic signs and to view the assistance systems as a supporting function.
04:28The chassis is well-balanced and offers a good compromise between comfort and sportiness.
04:37It absorbs unevenness in the road surface with ease without appearing spongy.
04:42However, in fast corners, the traction control may react with a slight delay when accelerating abruptly, which can lead to a brief loss of traction.
04:52In everyday driving, however, this is hardly noticeable and does not significantly affect the driver's experience.
05:07Inside, the Smart 3 impresses with high-quality materials and well-thought-out details.
05:12The standard panoramic roof creates a bright and airy ambience, but cannot be opened.
05:20This could be a minor disappointment for some drivers, but overall it contributes to the generous impression of space.
05:27The center console is solidly designed and offers practical storage areas and cup holders.
05:33There is an open compartment below the console that offers sufficient space for larger items such as a handbag or laptop.
05:42The seats are comfortable and offer good lateral support, which is particularly advantageous for sporty driving.
05:49The materials feel high quality and the workmanship is of a high standard.
05:55The sound system in the Smart 3 delivers a clear sound, but can tend to emphasize the highs at higher volumes.
06:04Adjusting the equalizer settings can help to achieve a balanced sound.
06:07Adults will find sufficient legroom in the rear seats.
06:14However, headroom is somewhat limited due to the roofline sloping towards the rear.
06:19The rear seat is positioned relatively low, which means that the knees are positioned a little higher.
06:24This could be less comfortable for tall passengers on longer journeys, but is perfectly adequate for short distances or for children.
06:34The headrests in the rear cannot be retracted, which is due to regulatory reasons according to the manufacturer.
06:40The trunk offers sufficient space for luggage and shopping with a volume of 370 to 1160 L.
06:49The storage space can be used flexibly thanks to the variable loading floor.
06:53If the loading floor is removed, even larger items of luggage can be stowed away without any problems.
06:58There is an additional storage space of 15L under the front hood, ideal for storing charging cables or smaller items.
07:08For those who want even more power, Smart offers the Brabus Vion of the Smart N3.
07:13This model has all-wheel drive and an impressive engine output of 315 kW, which corresponds to 428 hp.
07:21The maximum torque is 584 Nm.
07:27With these performance figures, the Smart N3, Brabus accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.7 seconds.
07:35This enormous acceleration can come as a surprise to passengers.
07:39It is therefore advisable to prepare them for it.
07:42The driving performance is impressive.
07:45The vehicle responds spontaneously to acceleration commands and provides an agile driving experience.
07:50Even when driving briskly, the power consumption remains within acceptable limits.
07:56During intensive test drives, consumption was around 21 kWh per 100 km.
08:03With a relaxed driving style, consumption even dropped to around 19 kWh, which corresponds to a realistic range of around 380 km.
08:13The Smart Mode 3 Brabus also differs visually from the standard models.
08:18It has sporty accents such as special alloy wheels, a striking front section and exclusive color options.
08:27The interior offers sporty seats and special details that underline the high-quality claim.
08:32The additional power and all-wheel drive ensure an even more dynamic driving experience and increased traction, especially in wet or slippery road conditions.
08:43In terms of connectivity, the Smart 3 is state-of-the-art.
08:50The infotainment system supports modern functions such as smartphone integration, navigation with real-time traffic information and voice control.
09:01Software updates can be installed over the air, which means that the vehicle is always up-to-date without having to visit a workshop.
09:08The manufacturer is currently working on implementing the function of automatic preconditioning of the battery temperature when planning charging stops.
09:19Once this function is complete, it will be made available via update.
09:26In addition to the assistance systems already mentioned, the safety equipment of the Smart & Dry also includes adaptive cruise control, emergency braking assistant and traffic sign recognition.
09:38These systems help to make driving safer and more relaxing.
09:41Another plus point is the flexibility in configuring the vehicle.
09:48Customers can choose from various equipment variants and adapt the vehicle to their individual needs.
09:55In addition to the basic Pro version, there are the Pro Plus and Premium versions, each of which offers additional features.
10:02The Pro Plus version includes, among other things, an extended charging capacity for alternating current with 22 kilowatts, which significantly speeds up charging at public charging stations.
10:15The Premium version also offers a higher-quality sound system, expanded comfort functions and additional safety features.
10:22In terms of operating costs, the Smart Mode 3 is an attractive option thanks to its efficiency and low electricity costs.
10:32The maintenance costs for electric vehicles are generally lower than for combustion engines, as there are fewer moving parts and wear and tear is lower.
10:40In some cases, buyers also benefit from government subsidies for electric vehicles, which further reduces the purchase price.
10:51In summary, it can be said that the new Smart 3 is a successful vehicle that impresses with its combination of sporty design, powerful drive and modern technology.
11:01The collaboration between Mercedes and Gilly has produced an electric car that is not only technically state-of-the-art, but also appears attractive in terms of price-performance ratio.
11:15The Smart Num 3 shows that electric cars can be not only environmentally friendly, but also powerful and suitable for everyday use.
11:22With its range, flexible charging options and appealing design, it sets new standards in the compact SUV coupé segment.
11:33The Smart 3 is an interesting option for environmentally conscious drivers who don't want to miss out on driving pleasure.
11:41The various equipment variants and battery options make it possible to adapt the vehicle to individual needs and budgets.
11:48We hope you enjoyed this detailed insight into the new Smart Mode 3.
