00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today, it's all about the powerful and uncompromising Smart 5 Brabus.
00:09A fully electric family SUV that is anything but reserved.
00:15With its powerful appearance and performance that makes many sports cars look old,
00:19this Smart is definitely not for drivers who still think of the small Ford Focus when they hear the name Smart,
00:25you'll be proven wrong here.
00:26With its 4.7 meters length, 2.9 meters wheelbase and almost 2.4 tons in weight,
00:33the new Smart 5 Brabus is a real heavyweight in the electric SUV segment.
00:39Inside, the occupants can expect a luxurious, digitally integrated atmosphere.
00:45Two 13-inch screens and an optional head-up display with a diagonal of over 63 centimeters create a futuristic cockpit feel.
00:52The whole thing is even controlled with the help of a virtual lion that responds to voice commands
00:59and guides the driver through the menu structure in an entertaining way.
01:04Those who like particularly intense sound will be thrilled by the optional center system with 20 speakers and 2,000 watts of output power.
01:11This is complemented by high-quality materials such as fabric, imitation leather or real leather, depending on the equipment line.
01:21The trunk is generously sized at 630 L and can be expanded to over 1500 L.
01:28An additional trunk offers up to 72 L of storage space, depending on the version.
01:33But the real highlight is the performance.
01:37The Smart 5 Brabus is the absolute top model in the series and delivers an impressive 646 horsepower with a torque of 710 Nm.
01:46This allows it to reach 100 kilometers per hour in under 4 seconds.
01:51And the propulsion only ends at 210 kilometers per hour, which is electronically limited.
01:56The power is transferred to the road via an all-wheel drive system, with two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear, working together.
02:06This not only ensures brutal acceleration, but also impressive traction, even on difficult surfaces, for which various driving modes such as snow, sand or mud are available.
02:16The power comes from a high-voltage battery with nickel-manganese cobalt cells and a capacity of 94 kilowatt-hours.
02:26This can be charged with up to 400 kilowatts of direct current, increasing the charge level from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes.
02:35Even with over 70% remaining charge, more than 200 kilowatts is still flowing.
02:40A rarity even in the premium segment.
02:42Of course, the enormous power takes its toll and the power consumption quickly increases to around 30 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers when driving in a sporty manner.
02:54The chassis is less sporty.
02:57Although the response of the steering, brakes and driver assistance systems can be varied, the chassis itself remains firm and unsprung.
03:05Every bump in the road is felt, especially on the optional 21-inch wheels, an aspect that could detract from some comfort levels.
03:13At least the brakes are extremely easy to control and switch smoothly between mechanical and regenerative deceleration.
03:21With a starting price of around 61,000 euros, the Smart 5 Brabos is no bargain, but you get an exceptional overall package in return.
03:29A fully electric driving machine with plenty of space, technology and performance, and a look that definitely polarizes opinions.
03:38For fans of uncompromising performance in an electric guise, this Smart could be an exciting alternative.
03:44Even if the spirit of the original city car is now just a distant memory.
