00:00What's going to happen if Zoran Mamdani is elected mayor of New York?
00:05People with get up and go are going to get up and go, and they're going to go to Florida,
00:09they're going to go to South Carolina, Georgia, Texas, they're going to go to Arizona,
00:14they're going to go to places that want them to set up businesses.
00:22If you had to ask who's really sponsoring his race, if it's sponsored by the beneficiaries,
00:27it'll be sponsored by Miami, Boca Raton, Tallahassee, Atlanta, where New Yorkers will move businesses
00:37primarily, and then the jobs will follow. And that's already happened in states like Illinois,
00:45which has virtually no population growth. But you look at other states like Texas, where there's not
00:51only growth in Austin, which you often hear about, but also in Dallas, which has become a
00:58major financial center. Houston, which of course has become this huge oil and gas center. And San
01:05Antonio, which is a mixed manufacturing center. So the four big towns in Texas now all have very
01:11diverse economies, and they're all booming. The states that are growing are those that clearly
01:17want to grow. States can set their own rules. And those rules allow states like Texas to move quickly
01:25on regulating businesses and letting them get set up instead of waiting six, eight, ten months to get
01:33a permit. Besides my home in Chicago, I have a home in Austin. And if you go to Austin, you just find
01:42it so easy to live. For one thing, the gas is a dollar cheaper in Austin than it is in Illinois.
01:50Now, I don't mind paying an extra dollar in Illinois for gas if I were getting better services. But I'm
01:58not. When I got a Texas driver's license, I also submitted evidence that I'm a U.S. citizen, and they
02:05registered me to vote right where I got my driver's license. And I didn't wait very long for the driver's
02:11license. At the Illinois DMV, I could still be waiting. No activities in the commercial realm or the state
02:19realm get performed well unless there's competition. Why do you see packages delivered so much quicker
02:27by U.S. mail now? Because they have to compete with FedEx and UPS. Why is it so hard to get a driver's
02:35license in Illinois? Because there's no competition. But the states like Texas, Florida, Tennessee,
02:44Alabama, Arizona, that have decided to compete with the northeastern states that are in an economic
02:53decline, that competition has been great for America. What should people do? The most obvious
03:00thing is to vote for people who actually understand the problem and understand the solution. And if you can't
03:08get leaders like that, the solution is to move to places where jobs are plentiful and where politicians
03:17actually understand what makes the economy great and what makes their city safe.
