00:30
Today, we will continue our trip around Thailand, but Thaya is waiting for us.
00:46
It is the center of Thai tourism and the most well-known city on the shore of the Gulf of Siam.
00:52
We will visit one of the largest parks in the world where you can buy an elephant,
01:00
make a wish.
01:04
We will even explore a unique collection of retro cars.
01:08
This is my favorite.
01:09
Get acquainted with a person who creates custom motorcycles
01:13
and drop by to see the highest wooden temple in the world.
01:20
The next destination on our trip will be the northern town of Pai,
01:28
an ideal place to go for a ride on a moped for the first time.
01:33
We will also learn how to cook fermented foods, get acquainted with a shoemaker,
01:39
chase the most stinking food on the planet,
01:44
see a pregnant elephant,
01:49
and do a good deed.
01:53
I gave a life for a new tree.
01:54
You get to be part of the most interesting places and things in the program, Going Beyond.
02:14
Thailand is the most advertised and promoted tourism country of Southeast Asia,
02:19
and the city of Pattaya is equally, therefore, the most widely promoted destination in all of Thailand.
02:26
This is the place where most visitors begin to understand about the culture of the country
02:32
and its tourist attractions.
02:38
There is a unique place a mere 17 kilometers from Pattaya
02:42
with a history that began as far back as 1954.
02:46
This was the date when a Thai businesswoman,
02:50
Miss Nong Nutsch,
02:51
decided to start a fruit business together with her husband.
02:56
This place is very special.
02:59
Mrs. Nong Nutsch bought this territory just for to grow off her trees.
03:04
But after she started to travel,
03:06
she was getting inspired about different gardens around the world.
03:10
So she brought all ideas,
03:13
everything that she likes here.
03:15
And now,
03:16
this is the biggest botanic garden in the Southeast Asia.
03:22
One of the most beautiful parks in the world opened here almost 40 years ago.
03:28
And within this time period,
03:30
it has grown to the gigantic scale of 240 hectares of land.
03:39
Here you quickly forget what country you were in.
03:42
In the beginning,
03:47
there are Buddhist stupas and the aroma of sweet smells.
03:51
Then there are tall, graceful palm trees
04:05
and a wild jungle accompanied by the non-stop chirping of tropical birds.
04:10
At some point, you suddenly find yourself right in the middle of a perfectly aligned walkway and alleys
04:18
in the style of the French city of Versailles or in the UK with its charming red London telephone boxes
04:25
or the famous Stonehenge stones.
04:27
I've never been in England and never seen Stonehenge, but now I got this possibility.
04:34
There is an opportunity to make a wish, for example, to see the real Stonehenge.
04:41
This bell is making your dreams come true.
04:50
And louder you ring, faster it will happen.
04:54
And in case you have a lot of wishes, you can make them by the yard.
05:07
Wait, though, because there is an even delightful mini zoo in the land of this Thai paradise
05:14
where you can feed a baby deer.
05:17
Take a picture with a huge peacock, and you may even wash a baby elephant.
05:23
Hi, I want a drink.
05:25
Oh!
05:27
Woo!
05:28
Back up!
05:31
Now, on top of all these other great opportunities, you can feed a giant arapalma fish.
05:38
This hulking predator inhabits the faraway Amazon,
05:42
where it is not unusual to find a three-meter example of one
05:46
which you can fish for.
05:48
And believe it or not, the largest one of these fish caught
05:51
actually weighed 200 kilograms.
05:55
An arapalma eats smaller fish, and on a good day,
05:59
it can gobble up some unlucky tiny animal or even a bird.
06:03
So it is unlikely it will be very pleased with these small Thai fish flakes.
06:09
Oh, my God.
06:10
Oh, my goodness.
06:11
God forbid tourists think that there are real animals in this park.
06:17
Hundreds or even thousands of artificial ones will be looking at you from all sides
06:21
at every step across the entire park area.
06:25
The sculptures are made from the tiny pieces of the wood.
06:41
It's huge space here, so you don't see that much tourists around.
06:45
And you can choose any activity you like from spending time in the middle of the orchard
06:50
or hanging out with a sculpture of mamans.
06:54
More than 5,000 tourists visit the park every day.
06:58
Those who are unable to handle long walks of many kilometers can hop on minibuses.
07:04
For those who fancy the more exotic, they can ride elephants.
07:08
Among all this, there is also something interesting for those
07:12
who do not really like to walk for hours out into the wild.
07:16
Don't be surprised.
07:28
We're still in Botanic Garden.
07:31
But this is the huge garage of Mrs. Nung Nudge.
07:35
And here is more than 40 sportive cars.
07:39
And most of them are exclusive.
07:43
Take a look.
07:44
All these cars belong to Mrs. Nung Nudge's son.
07:48
He made them into a museum, exhibiting them instead of driving them.
07:53
Amazing.
07:57
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
07:59
This is my favorite.
08:00
It's huge, very classic.
08:04
And Louis Vuitton makes it rich.
08:05
I think it's the biggest cats I've ever seen.
08:21
Wow.
08:22
I don't know what cats are doing here, but looks like this is a collection of the cats of Mrs. Nung Nudge.
08:35
What, you don't like me?
08:36
Thais are nuts about cats.
08:40
In fact, they just adore them and consider them sacred.
08:45
They love all cats, especially the Siamese, because this breed appeared here in Siam, as Thailand used to be called before.
08:54
Many people believe cats protect their owners' houses from evil spirits.
08:59
2,000 Thai people work in the park every day.
09:04
And yet you pay only a $15 admission fee to see all this beauty and find out Thailand has something to surprise you with.
09:13
I spent all day in this awesome botanical garden.
09:17
Really, this is a touristic place, but you don't really feel people here.
09:22
You like walking around your own garden.
09:25
I like time before park is closing, because all people are gone and you are just all by yourself.
09:43
I like walking around your own garden.
10:04
I like walking around your world.
10:05
You like walking around your garden.
10:09
You like walking around your garden.
