00:00The thing to watch here are what are moderate Democrats in the Senate doing? Leaders Schumer
00:04and Jeffries are not talking with Johnson and Thune. There is there is essentially no progress
00:10three days in. The question is, is, you know, how much pressure does Trump and the White House put
00:15on Democrats? You know, they've threatened these firings. They've threatened to cut more spending
00:18that has not yet material materialized, but that could very well come later today. The other
00:23question is lawmakers are going to vote again and then go home for the weekend. What kind of pressure
00:26are they getting from constituents? You know, we will basically be start next week. They'll come
00:31back to the Capitol Monday night. And, you know, we may very well be in the same place we are now
00:35of there is no progress. And you start to see some of these moderate members who are worried about
00:38the reelection come next year, say, hey, we need to get something started. You know, we need to move
00:43our position, talk about health care, talk about, you know, kind of what sort of things we could take,
00:48whether that be a future vote or other options, because this is not a politically tenable situation.
00:52Laura, what is incentivizing those moderate Democrats at the moment?
00:56Right now, they believe that once these notices start going out informing people that their
01:02premiums are going to increase, that public sentiment will be on their side. That's the
01:06gamble that Schumer has put out. We'll see if that materializes. But if they start to see that,
01:10you know, sort of anger and frustration over health care costs, you know, are dwarfed by anger
01:15and frustration over the government shutdown and services not being available and people just feeling
01:19generally, you know, frustrated that Washington isn't working. Those are the two things they're weighing
01:24and, you know, how much a shutdown will affect the midterms. Right now, they're betting that people
01:28care more about health care when the midterms are a year away versus, you know, sort of a little
01:32bit of chaos in Washington for a week or two.
