00:00We've also, as of midnight, entered day 36 of the government shutdown, a new milestone on the
00:06dysfunction of Washington, D.C., with the longest shutdown on record. Has there been any movement
00:10to reopen the government? Well, we have gotten perhaps a glimmer of hope. We heard from Senate
00:16Majority Leader John Thune, who said that a potential off-ramp seems to be coming together,
00:21but importantly, this is very fragile and it doesn't seem like the conversations have extended
00:26to the leadership level yet, but our understanding is there is a bipartisan group of rank-and-file
00:31senators that are discussing some potential solutions that would likely include a promised
00:37vote on extending the Affordable Care Act premium tax subsidies that are set to expire at the end
00:43of this year. That has really been at the core of Democrats' demands. They want to see some changes
00:48made, some promises before the government reopens, but Republicans have been holding the line that
00:54the government needs to reopen in order for any of those talks to take place. So perhaps
00:58the compromise can be that they will set a firm date on the calendar for a vote on the extension.
01:04We're going to have to wait and see because, Danny, as you all know, pressure is mounting everything
01:09from delays at airports due to a shortage of unpaid air traffic controllers to now open enrollment
01:14starting and Americans seeing their premiums go up to the future of SNAP benefits, which have really been
01:19at the center of this fight as there are questions still about how much money Americans that receive
01:25these food aid benefits are going to get.
