00:00Are you ready for another Victory Monday?
00:03Yes, I am, Jones.
00:05More the merrier.
00:06Yes, please.
00:08I'm very ready for a Patriots Monday.
00:10A Victory Monday, as it were.
00:11Let me tell you.
00:11Yeah.
00:12The way that game started yesterday,
00:14the way we talked about it all week,
00:15I'm like, we're so smart.
00:16We are so smart.
00:17Look at us.
00:17Look at the big brains on us.
00:18We know so much.
00:19Yep.
00:19This is going to be an ugly game.
00:21Patriots are going to win.
00:22Browns are going to score on their first drive.
00:23Browns are going to score early.
00:25The Patriots are going to win,
00:26but it's going to be ugly.
00:27And then the third quarter happened,
00:30and I was quite impressed with the way the Patriots came out of this,
00:34moving the football,
00:36the way Drake May played individually against what is a top-flight defense.
00:40Oh, yeah.
00:40I'm not as down on McDaniels as Shime is.
00:44Okay.
00:44So I'm even willing to give Shime, McDaniels,
00:47rather a little bit of credit for what went on yesterday with Travion Henderson,
00:50which we can get into.
00:52And, yeah, I thought that was going to be an ugly,
00:55low-scoring,
00:57maybe even poor performance by the offense where you came out of it,
01:01and you're like, okay, they went against a real defense.
01:04What did we learn about this team?
01:05And instead, they blew doors in the second half,
01:07and they dominated a Browns team yesterday.
01:09Yeah, I mean, well, at the half, it was that.
01:11It wasn't just the first quarter.
01:12It was 9-7 at the half.
01:13You don't see a lot of games where it's 9-7.
01:16And, you know, thankfully,
01:17They were losing most of the first half.
01:18They were.
01:19And, you know, they just couldn't get it in the end zone.
01:22And, thankfully, Borghouse hit all those field goals.
01:25I'll tell you, you were asking about confidence level in him a few weeks ago,
01:28and I'm like, well, it's better than it was week one and week two.
01:31Like, I felt a little bit better as it went.
01:32But even still, I was like, eh, rookie kicker,
01:34you're putting a lot on him early.
01:35But anyway, he makes all his kicks.
01:36And then, yeah, the floodgates open in the third quarter.
01:40But I'll tell you, it was really after maybe the Browns' second possession
01:43where I was like, oh, this is the formula.
01:46The Patriots' defense, they struggle on that first drive,
01:49and then they lock a team down.
01:52And so at that point, I was like,
01:53the Pats aren't going to need to score a ton of points
01:55because I didn't feel like the Browns were going to be able to do anything
01:58against the Patriots' defense after that first drive.
02:01And essentially, that was the case.
02:02I know they got one in the fourth quarter.
02:04But they just put the clamps on them, and it was just punt city.
02:08There was a punt turning them over, right?
02:09Dylan Gabriel, oh, hadn't thrown a pick,
02:11hadn't thrown a pick in his whole career.
02:13Then he throws like two and like four passes.
02:15That changed, yeah.
02:16So, yeah, that was great.
02:17And then, yeah, the offense was more than good enough in the second half.
02:22And they rolled.
02:23Another great performance, incredible performance by Drake May.
02:27And, yeah, a controlling, convincing win over a good defense but a bad team.
02:33Sticking with Drake May for a moment, he joins,
02:36and I'm reading a tweet here from the NFL.
02:38Each week, this is crazier and crazier.
02:40He joins an elite club of quarterbacks with 200-plus passing yards
02:44and a 100-plus passer rating in seven-plus consecutive games.
02:50So, 200 or more yards, 100-plus passer rating, seven consecutive games.
02:54This is the list.
02:55The whole list in the history of the league.
02:58Tom Brady, of course.
02:59Yeah.
02:59In 2007.
03:01Peyton Manning in 2004.
03:03Patrick Mahomes in 2018.
03:04Aaron Rodgers did it twice.
03:062011 and 2020.
03:07So, that's the whole list.
03:09Rodgers, Brady, Manning, Mahomes.
03:11May is now on that list.
03:11And correct me if I'm wrong, those are all MVP seasons for each of those guys.
03:14That sounds right, yeah.
03:15I'd have to double-check the Mahomes one, but we know Brady won it.
03:17We know Manning won it.
03:18I think Rodgers won it.
03:19Mahomes is definitely right.
03:20Brady's definitely right.
03:21Manning in 2004.
03:22Yeah.
03:22And then I'd have to double-check two Rodgers.
03:23Yeah, I think every single one of them that's done this is one MVP.
03:25Okay, so you're 60 seconds on him being the MVP.
03:28He's looking sounder and sounder.
03:29Although, when he threw that pick, I was about to text you.
03:31I'm like, he's your MVP?
03:32No, but I'm actually glad he did that.
03:35That proved that he's mortal.
03:36It proved that, all right, maybe he's not going to complete every single pass that he throws.
03:41And he may actually have a turnover.
03:43So, he did do that.
03:44But, no, each week, and they mentioned it a little bit on the broadcast, too,
03:47because they were talking about last week's completion percentage
03:49and how he broke a Tom Brady record.
03:53And it's like, it's nuts.
03:55The guy can't win six Super Bowls tomorrow.
03:58But what he can do is he can keep putting up these crazy games,
04:02and then you're comparing seven- and eight-game sample sizes
04:05to the greatest quarterback of all time.
04:08And he's doing it.
04:09And the guy's going out there, and they're winning games,
04:11which is the most important.
04:13It's not as fun if he's putting up 100 quarterback ratings
04:15and they lose again, right?
04:16So, them winning makes this conversation, I think, fine.
04:20But it's remarkable just how consistent he's been
04:22and how much better he is year over year.
04:26Yeah, his weekly Tom Brady stat, and I guess the last one was, too.
04:30Seriously.
04:30He had three passing touchdowns in the third quarter.
04:33He's the first Patriot to have three-plus passing touchdowns
04:35in a quarter since Tom Brady in 2018 against the Dolphins.
04:38So, these happen every week.
04:39To them win the Super Bowl.
04:40With Drake May, correct.
04:42Yesterday, that third quarter,
04:44and I heard Vrabel talking about this after the game,
04:46he's like, when we scored right before the half,
04:48he's like, I knew we had him.
04:50And I'm paraphrasing what he said, but something like that.
04:52He's like, when we got that field goal before the half,
04:54we took the lead, he's like, I knew something changed.
04:56They got a three and out to start the second half.
04:58Then they go touchdown to Hunter Henry,
05:01who we're going to talk to later on today.
05:02On tight ends day.
05:03On a Patriots Monday.
05:04Yeah, you had to get him in the end zone
05:05on National Tight Ends Day.
05:07And that's a drive a lot of people want to give
05:09a ton of credit to Josh McDaniels.
05:10We can get into it.
05:11You get what probably should have been a pick six
05:13from Robert Spillane,
05:15but he gets tackled at the six.
05:16A couple plays later,
05:17Stephon Diggs gets in the end zone,
05:18his first touchdown in a Patriots uniform.
05:21You get the Jalen Hawkins pick,
05:23which is a horrible throw by Gabriel,
05:24but a brilliant individual play by Hawkins
05:26to reel that in.
05:28And then another long touchdown pass
05:29to Kayshawn Booty, 39 yards out.
05:31Patriots go from up 9-7
05:33and Cleveland getting the ball
05:35to start the second half
05:36to up 30-7 and the route is on.
05:38Oh yeah.
05:39I mean, at that point,
05:39you're dominating the game.
05:42It felt like it was in control
05:43even after the first score of the third quarter.
05:46You're like, I don't see Cleveland
05:47putting together enough drives
05:49to win this.
05:50The defense for the Patriots
05:52had so settled in
05:53and was kind of in control of that game.
05:55Quinshawn Judkins did nothing.
05:57Like they, nothing.
05:58To the point where they'd like
05:59stop even giving him the ball.
06:00They're like, what's the point?
06:01And then Dylan Gabriel wasn't going to do it.
06:03So great job by the defense.
06:04And yeah, the offense,
06:05you know, took a little bit to get unlocked,
06:08but then they did.
06:09And then it was over
06:10and a very convincing win.
06:11Like you and I were both saying,
06:12this isn't even one you need style points on.
06:14Just take the win.
06:14If they go out there
06:15and beat them, you know,
06:1620 to 10, I'll take it
06:18and you move on to the next one.
06:19But no, they were able to, you know,
06:20put up over 30 on the Browns,
06:22which is no easy task.
06:23You mentioned Judkins just real quick.
06:25And you should be familiar with this stat
06:27from Keith's Keys every Friday.
06:28Oh yeah.
06:30But the Patriots are the only team
06:31since 1950
06:32to go the first eight games of the year
06:34without allowing an opposing running back
06:36to reach 50 yards in a game.
06:38This is like the old Williams wall
06:40on the Minnesota Vikings back in the day.
06:41The only team since 1950,
06:43forget the Super Bowl.
06:43Yeah, 1950, 1950 to not let a running back
06:46on the other side.
06:4775 years of this great league.
06:48And Judkins has been great this year.
06:50Yeah, yes.
06:50He's had a lot of big games.
06:51And they limited him.
06:52They limited that whole run game.
06:53So a big time win by the Patriots,
06:55that third quarter,
06:56I think crystallizes a lot of it.
06:58Yeah.
06:58You can talk about it all day long
06:59here on Jones and Keith.
07:00It is a Patriots Monday.
07:01We'll talk to Hunter Henry.
07:02We'll talk to Christian Ellis.
07:03We'll go through week eight in the NFL.
07:05What happened at 1130?
07:07Plus all your phone calls.
07:09617-779-7937.
07:12Keith, how good can the offense be?
07:13And who is stopping this offense
07:15led by Drake May?
07:17If Cleveland and their defense
07:18can't do it with Miles Garrett
07:20racking up a franchise record,
07:22career high five sacks.
07:23I love how everybody's like,
07:24Miles Garrett dominates everybody,
07:25which he does.
07:26Yeah.
07:27He doesn't set franchise records
07:28against everybody.
07:29The Patriots have never given up
07:30five sacks to a player before.
07:31So that guy and that defense,
07:34which has been playing
07:34at a very high level,
07:36if they can't stop Drake May
07:37and this offense, who can?
07:39Yeah, I got news for you, Jones.
07:40No one, no one can,
07:41because that defense
07:42was such a challenge.
07:43Vrabel talked about it last week.
07:45You have the best defensive
07:47individual player in the league
07:48and he showed up
07:48and had a great game.
07:50You also have the sticky secondary
07:51that he talked about.
07:52Oh man, what?
07:53I heard about,
07:53they talk about that?
07:54A lot of secondary stickiness.
07:56But they have,
07:56I mean, they have good players
07:57at every level on that defense.
07:59So that is as tough
08:00of a challenge overall
08:01as you're going to face, right?
08:03And so they went out there
08:04and to have that kind of success,
08:05to put up those kind of points,
08:07you spread the ball around
08:08and a bunch of guys
08:08were involved in the pass game.
08:11Travion Henderson,
08:12I know he had the fumble,
08:13but he had his best game
08:14as a runner.
08:15So you put all that together,
08:16there's a lot of encouraging
08:16stuff from that game.
08:17So look,
08:18I think that's your key takeaway
08:19is the offense
08:20against a defense like Cleveland.
08:22Oh yeah.
08:23And they held the Patriots
08:24in check for a half
08:25and then it all blew wide open
08:27in the third quarter.
08:28That's your key takeaway
08:29brought to you by Pepsi,
08:31the official soft drink
08:32of the New England Patriots.
08:33It is a Patriots Monday
08:34here on Jones and Keefe.
08:35We can get more into Drake May
08:36and his day in a big win
08:38for the Pats,
08:3932 to 13 over the Cleveland Browns.
08:41But we are joined now
08:42as we are every Patriots Monday
08:43by Patriots tight end Hunter Henry.
08:45He's brought to you
08:46by Drains by James,
08:47Eastern Mass's top provider
08:48of drain and sewer cleaning
08:49and repair.
08:50By Shaw's and Star Market.
08:51You can look for the new
08:52lower prices,
08:53everyday tags throughout the store
08:54and save on the items
08:56that you buy most
08:56and by Verizon.
08:58The New England Patriots
08:58powered by Verizon 5G.
09:01Hunter Henry,
09:01how are we doing this week?
09:03Good, fellas.
09:04How are y'all?
09:04We're doing great.
09:05Happy and we're a day late.
09:07Happy National Tight Ends
09:08Day yesterday.
09:09Congratulations on getting
09:11in the end zone.
09:12And should you try telling Drake
09:13just before the game
09:14every day is National Tight Ends Day?
09:16Just give him a little reminder.
09:19Of course, man.
09:20But especially on National Tight Ends Day,
09:22you got to try to get the boys
09:24and somebody in the end zone.
09:26So yeah, it's good to touch
09:27a little pain yesterday.
09:28I know the quarterback
09:30from time to time
09:31will like buy stuff
09:32for the offense.
09:32Did they get you anything
09:33on National Tight Ends Day?
09:34Should that be a new tradition?
09:37He got me a touchdown.
09:38So I'm going to shoot off like that.
09:39But you know,
09:40like a watch.
09:42Something like that.
09:43Like something where he's
09:43really looking out for you guys.
09:44A watch.
09:45A watch.
09:46No, no watch for me, man.
09:48No watch for me.
09:48I'm good.
09:50What's your assessment
09:51of the offense performance
09:52yesterday?
09:53Obviously, I'm sure you guys
09:54are frustrated having to settle
09:55for field goals
09:56in the first half,
09:57but then we're really able
09:57to open it up there
09:58in the third quarter.
10:00Yeah, I mean,
10:01I think going into the game,
10:02we knew it was going
10:03to be tough, man.
10:04I mean, that's, you know,
10:05one of the best defenses
10:06in the NFL.
10:08And they have talent
10:09all over the place.
10:10A lot of speed.
10:12They've been playing
10:12really, really good football,
10:13too, on the defensive side
10:15of the ball, man.
10:16And so we knew
10:17going into the game
10:17it was going to be very tough.
10:18It was going to be tough sledding.
10:20And, you know,
10:21we were able to execute
10:22some things
10:22and be able to move the ball.
10:24Obviously, we were frustrated
10:25at half just not being able
10:26to finish a couple
10:27of those drives,
10:28but knew we were close
10:29and just needed
10:30to break through
10:30and, you know,
10:32came out half strong
10:33and defense kind of
10:34got us started
10:35with three and out
10:35and then being able
10:37to, you know,
10:37take that ball
10:38all the way down the field
10:38was huge
10:39and just punching on him
10:41was definitely
10:41kind of big for our momentum,
10:44big for the, you know,
10:45the team.
10:46But, you know,
10:47I mean, obviously
10:47going against that defense,
10:48it kind of felt like
10:50you had to grind
10:51one out yesterday.
10:52Is Drake made the MVP?
10:56I'll let you guys
10:57all just, you know,
10:58debate all that.
10:59But he's a talented dude.
11:01I love playing with him.
11:02Did you hear the chants yesterday?
11:05I did not.
11:06Honestly,
11:07you get so caught up
11:09in the game,
11:09it kind of gets tough.
11:11You pay attention
11:12to some of that stuff.
11:13I mean,
11:14he's for sure
11:14on the short list
11:15for MVP.
11:17That's for sure.
11:17Halfway through the season,
11:18I would assume
11:19Miles Garrett
11:19is going to be
11:20at the top of the list
11:21for defensive player
11:22of the year.
11:23What do you say
11:25about, you know,
11:26a guy like that
11:26who was really
11:27kind of in a zone?
11:28I mean,
11:29he had five sacks,
11:30which is a career high
11:30for him.
11:31But you guys were running
11:32all kinds of different stuff
11:33against him.
11:35Just, you know,
11:36take us through
11:36trying to make adjustments
11:37and just doing the best
11:38you can to slow him down.
11:41Yeah, I mean,
11:41shoot,
11:42I look at myself first.
11:43I mean,
11:44I got to be better
11:45in some aspect
11:45just to help out
11:47in any aspect.
11:48Knew that going in.
11:49I mean,
11:49obviously this guy
11:50has just been
11:52an incredible player
11:53his whole career.
11:53I've been going
11:54against him
11:54all the way back
11:55to college
11:55and just see the growth
11:57from him
11:58just from then
11:58to now,
11:59but also just
12:00the trajectory
12:00of his career.
12:01It's so impressive.
12:04He's just
12:04a supreme talent.
12:06You know,
12:07you don't see
12:08a lot of many guys
12:08like that
12:09come in the league
12:10and have the success
12:11he's had.
12:12So props to him,
12:12man.
12:13He just competes,
12:15plays his tail off,
12:16and, you know,
12:17you got to just,
12:18you know,
12:19tip your hat to him
12:19and salute him
12:20and have a lot
12:20of respect for,
12:22you know,
12:22how he plays the game.
12:23You guys were
12:24introduced individually
12:25before the game yesterday.
12:27That's the first time
12:27in a while
12:28that's happened around here.
12:29What did you think
12:29of the individual
12:30player intros?
12:33Yeah,
12:33it was pretty
12:33disorganized.
12:36You know,
12:37first time
12:37for a long time,
12:38so hopefully
12:39we can clean that up
12:39and bring a little bit
12:40more juice
12:40in the stadium
12:41and get the fans going.
12:43Do you have a favorite
12:44Halloween candy,
12:45Hunter,
12:46and or
12:46what are you guys
12:47giving out at your house
12:48this weekend
12:48or this Friday?
12:51My wife's in charge
12:53of the candy.
12:55Usually,
12:55she'll probably
12:57get some good stuff.
13:00Over the years,
13:01I'm a little bit more
13:02like the Reese's.
13:05Probably,
13:06I'm more of a Reese's guy.
13:08I love the,
13:09yeah,
13:09that's probably my favorite.
13:10Or just good old Snickers.
13:12Yeah,
13:13you can't go wrong
13:13with Snickers.
13:14I agree with you.
13:15Your kids have the
13:16costumes picked out?
13:18We got the costumes
13:19picked out.
13:20Yeah,
13:20we're ready to roll.
13:21What do you got?
13:23We're going to be
13:24a bunch of superheroes.
13:25So my son
13:26is big into
13:27Spider-Man right now.
13:29So he's going to be
13:29Spider-Man.
13:30I'm Captain America.
13:33My wife is,
13:34I think,
13:35like Black Widow.
13:36All right.
13:37And then
13:37my daughter
13:39is like,
13:40we were trying to think
13:41of the other female
13:42superhero.
13:42So I think
13:43she is Wonder Woman.
13:44Very good.
13:45How about that?
13:46Wow,
13:46a good family theme.
13:47Do you guys do that
13:48every year
13:48or is that just this year?
13:51Yeah,
13:51I think honestly
13:52this will probably
13:53be our last year
13:53where we can do
13:54a family thing
13:54because my son
13:55is going to
13:55be the one-off
13:57after this year.
13:58He'll want to
13:59pick something
13:59probably
13:59that we can't
14:01really plan
14:03for everybody to do.
14:04But yeah,
14:04it'll be fun.
14:05All right.
14:06Well,
14:06you know what time it is.
14:07It is time now
14:08for the Hunter Henry
14:08Surprise Question of the Week.
14:11It's time
14:12for the Hunter Henry
14:13Surprise.
14:14Surprise!
14:16Henry,
14:17touchdown!
14:18Whoa!
14:18Surprise,
14:20Sydney.
14:20Hey,
14:20surprise.
14:21Surprise,
14:22mother...
14:22Surprise.
14:24Surprise.
14:24We wasted
14:25the good surprise
14:26on you.
14:26Y'all digging
14:27for the surprise
14:28in the day,
14:28huh?
14:28Question of the Week.
14:30All right,
14:30here we go.
14:31Once again,
14:31on a scale
14:32of 1 to 85,
14:3385 being the most
14:33surprised you've ever been.
14:34One,
14:34you weren't surprised
14:35at all.
14:36Hunter Henry,
14:37how surprised
14:37were you
14:38when Mike Tyson
14:39lost a boxing match
14:41to Jake Paul?
14:47I would say
14:49probably
14:4925.
14:52I was surprised.
14:54And that was
14:54the Hunter Henry
14:55Surprise Question
14:57of the Week.
14:58We're running
14:59the gamut
14:59with the range.
15:01Yeah,
15:01I'm with him.
15:02I was not that surprised
15:02either.
15:03I think he was
15:05the underdog
15:05going in.
15:06Tyson was.
15:06Okay,
15:07well,
15:07Hunter Henry,
15:07we appreciate it
15:08every Monday
15:09here on a Patriots
15:10Monday.
15:11Good luck
15:11this weekend
15:12taking on
15:13the Atlanta Falcons
15:14and we'll talk
15:14to you next week.
15:16All right,
15:16fellas,
15:16appreciate it.
15:17Thank you,
15:17Hunter.
15:17Hunter Henry
15:18on a Patriots
15:18Monday here
15:19on Jones
15:19and Keith.
15:21Tight ends
15:21were scoring
15:21like crazy
15:22yesterday.
15:22Even the Browns
15:23two touchdowns
15:23were both
15:24tight ends.
15:24Correct.
15:25And then
15:25Goddard,
15:26Kraft,
15:27I think the Patriots
15:27just let that
15:28happen.
15:28They're like,
15:28hey,
15:29we got to do it.
15:29We respect
15:30national tight ends
15:33day,
15:33so we're going
15:34to let them
15:34get in the end
15:35zone.
15:35Get one out
15:36of the way
15:36early.
15:37We'll give you
15:37one late.
15:38And then in the
15:39meantime,
15:39we're going to
15:39rack them up.
15:40Yeah.
15:40I wonder if
15:41quarterbacks should
15:42beyond just
15:42touchdowns start
15:43giving their
15:43tight ends
15:43gifts.
15:44Gifts?
15:45Yeah.
15:46It is weird
15:46because where
15:46do they kind
15:47of fit in?
15:47They kind
15:48of get lost
15:48in the shuffle
15:48because it's
15:49like half wide
15:50receiver.
15:51It's almost
15:51like an
15:52anniversary.
15:52I mean,
15:53it's a
15:53quarterback
15:53tight end
15:54anniversary,
15:54really.
15:55And then each
15:55year is a
15:56certain thing,
15:56right?
15:57Like one
15:57year it's
15:57copper,
15:58one year it's
15:58gold,
15:59one year it's
15:59wood.
16:00Then you've
16:00got to keep
16:00track of that.
16:02Every year it's
16:02wood,
16:03am I right?
16:03But no,
16:04you've got to
16:06keep track of
16:06that.
16:07You do.
16:08Yeah,
16:08sorry.
16:09There's like
16:09cotton.
16:10They're all
16:11different ones.
16:12You're married
16:12long enough,
16:13you start giving
16:13them like,
16:14you know,
16:14rocks from the
16:15ground.
16:16There's like
16:16nothing left.
16:18You guys can
16:18discuss all day
16:19long,
16:20but you waiting
16:20patiently to talk
16:21about the
16:21Patriots 32-13
16:22win over the
16:23Cleveland Browns.
16:24We're just getting
16:26this offense.
16:26If the Cleveland
16:27defense isn't
16:27going to do it
16:28with Miles Garrett
16:28racking up a
16:29franchise record
16:30in sacks and
16:31they're not going
16:31to limit Drake
16:32May,
16:32who's going to
16:33do it?
16:33Meanwhile,
16:34we asked Hunter
16:34Henry and he
16:35didn't answer,
16:36but who the
16:37MVP is,
16:38is it Drake
16:38May?
16:39He was getting
16:39MVP chance
16:40yesterday.
16:41So let's get
16:41into that.
