00:00House Republicans voted to create a new subcommittee to further investigate the January 6, 2021 riot at the United States Capitol building.
00:07They hope the new eight-member panel will be able to answer their many unanswered questions.
00:14Congressman Troy Nails is being considered for a spot on the committee.
00:18He told Straight Arrow News that he wants to know why the Capitol Police were so ill-prepared,
00:23despite intelligence assessments that showed what rioters were planning.
00:26And it was very clear. It was going to get ugly up here. There was going to be a high propensity for violence.
00:31All of it was there, and they didn't do anything with it.
00:35Nails said the National Guard should have been deployed.
00:38I'd have said, oh my goodness gracious, we got to be prepared for this, and we need a guard.
00:43If somebody would have taken the report seriously and passed it along to the right people, January 6 would have never happened.
00:51Democrats say they won't allow Republicans to rewrite the history of what happened that day.
00:56Riders broke into the Capitol building by pushing past police barricades and breaking through windows and doors
01:03in an attempt to stop the certification of Joe Biden's election victory.
01:07More than 140 police officers were assaulted, and there was millions of dollars in property damage.
01:12They are so desperate to paper over what happened that day, to whitewash it, and to pretend it was a normal tourist visit.
01:22This will be the third time the House of Representatives investigates January 6.
01:26Republicans already had one probe, but they say they're not finished, and they call the original Democratic-led committee a sham.
