00:00Days after former President Joe Biden was spotted leaving church with a scar on his forehead,
00:05his spokesperson is confirming to multiple media outlets that it was the result of surgery to remove skin cancer lesions.
00:15Political consultant Fred Carger filmed the video in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and posted it to social media.
00:21He told Inside Edition he was surprised at how noticeable and fresh the scar was.
00:26Moe's surgery, that's the name of the procedure the 82-year-old former president underwent.
00:32It's commonly used to treat both routine and rare types of skin cancer and involves the removal of thin layers of skin until all cancerous cells are gone.
00:42It's unclear exactly when the surgery took place, but it isn't his first.
00:47While in office, Biden had a basal cell carcinoma removed from his chest.
00:51At the time, his physician, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, said no further treatment was required after all cancerous tissue was cleared.
00:59Similarly, former First Lady Joe Biden also had cancerous skin lesions removed in 2023.
01:05This latest procedure comes just months after the former president revealed he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had spread to his bones.
01:14In May, his family said they were reviewing treatment options with doctors.
01:18Shortly after that announcement, Biden told CNN he was feeling great, stressing the cancer had not reached his organs, and that his bones, where it had spread, remained strong.
01:29He also confirmed he had begun a pill regimen to fight the disease.
