00:00Israeli forces have now intercepted that massive flotilla of boats trying to break the naval blockade of Gaza,
00:09an effort involving hundreds of activists, including Greta Thunberg and Nelson Mandela's grandson.
00:15The global Samud flotilla, nearly 50 boats strong, was sailing in international waters about 70 nautical miles off Gaza
00:23when Israeli Navy vessels moved in. A voice from the Israeli side warned.
00:27This is the Israeli Navy. You are approaching a blockaded zone.
00:33If you wish to deliver aid to Gaza, you may do so through the established channels.
00:38Activists aboard live-streamed as Israeli ships surrounded them.
00:41Some tossed their phones into the sea.
00:44Others sat silently on deck, as you see here, hands raised, in what they called a peaceful humanitarian mission.
00:51Onshore, pro-Palestinian protesters rallied in Rome after the confrontation, blocking traffic.
00:57Thousands more demonstrated in Naples to show support, blocking the tracks at the city's central station.
01:03Meanwhile, Israeli officials released video showing Thunberg being offered water and a raincoat, insisting she and others are safe.
01:12Organizers say the flotilla was carrying symbolic aid and a message, open a permanent sea corridor to Gaza.
01:19But Israel calls the flotilla a provocation.
