00:04Investigators now say at least two people are dead and several others injured
00:08after a violent car ramming and stabbing attack Thursday outside a synagogue in Manchester, England.
00:16Authorities say the suspected attacker was also shot and is believed to be dead.
00:21At least three people are listed in serious condition from the attack,
00:25with individuals hurt from the initial car ramming and subsequent stabbings.
00:30Authorities say the attack, which occurred on Yom Kippur,
00:32widely considered the most holy of Jewish holidays, is being investigated as an act of terror.
00:37British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed shock
00:40and announced an increased police presence across the nation in response to the incident.
00:45The attack in Manchester this morning is absolutely shocking,
00:49and all of our thoughts are with those affected.
00:52I'm on my way back to London. When I arrive, I will chair an emergency COBRA meeting.
00:57I'm already able to say that additional police assets are being deployed to synagogues across the country,
01:04and we will do everything to keep our Jewish community safe.
01:07Investigators have yet to determine a motive, but the attack comes amid a rise in international anti-Semitism
01:13and follows the slayings of two Israeli embassy staffers outside a museum in Washington, D.C. earlier this year.
01:19Thursday's attack is raising concerns about religiously motivated incidents in the U.K. and beyond.
