00:00My friends, we have done it.
00:06A city where they can do more than just struggle.
00:09Where hard work is repaid with a stable life.
00:12Where rent-stabilized apartments are actually stabilized.
00:17Where buses are fast and free.
00:20It's where the mayor will use their power to reject Donald Trump's fascism.
00:26To stop mass ICE agents from deporting our neighbors.
00:30To govern our city as a model for the Democratic Party.
00:34This is not my victory.
00:36This is ours.
00:39And when I can introduce myself once more.
00:45New York, if we have made one thing clear over these past months,
00:49it is that we need not choose between the two.
00:56We can be free and we can be fed.
01:05In the words of Nelson Mandela,
01:07it always seems impossible until it is done.
01:11My friends, we have done it.
01:15I will be your Democratic nominee for the mayor of New York City.
01:23We have won from Harlem to Bay Ridge.
01:27From Jackson Heights to Port Richmond.
01:30We have won because New Yorkers have stood up for a city they can afford.
01:34A city where they can do more than just struggle.
01:37Where hard work is repaid with a stable life.
01:41Where rent stabilized apartments are actually stabilized.
01:46Where buses are fast and free.
01:48Where childcare doesn't cost more than CUNY.
01:52And where public safety keeps us truly safe.
01:55And it's where the mayor will use their power to reject Donald Trump's fascism.
02:03To stop mass ICE agents from deporting our neighbor.
02:07To govern our city as a model for the Democratic Party.
02:11A party where we fight for working people with no apology.
02:16A life of dignity should not be reserved for a fortunate few.
02:22It should be one that city government guarantees for each and every New Yorker.
02:28And when I think of hope, I think of the unprecedented coalition of New Yorkers that we have built.
02:35This is not my victory.
02:38This is ours.
02:40And when I look out at this room, that is what I see.
02:43Children who called parents.
02:46Strangers who care about those they will never meet.
02:50A New York that believes in each other and in itself.
02:55This has been a historically contentious race.
03:00I hope now that this primary has come to an end.
03:04I can introduce myself once more.
03:06Not as you've seen me in a 30-second ad, but how I will lead as your mayor.
03:19I will be the mayor for every New Yorker.
03:23Whether you voted for me, for Governor Cuomo, or felt too disillusioned by a long broken political system to vote at all.
03:33I will fight for a city that works for you.
03:37That is affordable for you.
03:40That is safe for you.
03:43I will work to be a mayor.
03:46You will be proud to call your own.
03:48I cannot promise that you will always agree with me.
03:54But I will never hide from you.
03:57If you are hurting, I will try to heal.
04:01If you feel misunderstood, I will strive to understand.
04:06Your concerns will always be mine.
04:08And I will put your hopes before my own.
04:13And I know that those hopes extend beyond our five boroughs.
04:18There are millions of New Yorkers who have strong feelings about what happens overseas.
04:24I am one of them.
04:27And while I will not abandon my beliefs or my commitments,
04:34grounded in a demand for equality, for humanity, for all those who walk this earth,
04:42you have, you have my word to reach further, to understand the perspectives of those with whom I disagree,
04:55and to wrestle deeply with those disagreements.
04:59Let me close with this.
05:01In these dark times, I know that it is harder than ever to keep faith in our democracy.
05:11It has been attacked by billionaires and their big spending,
05:15by elected officials who care more about self-enrichment than the public trust,
05:20and by authoritarian leaders who rule through fear.
05:26But above all, our democracy has been attacked from within.
05:32For too long, New Yorkers have strained to find a leader who represents us,
05:39who puts us first.
05:41And we have been betrayed time and again.
05:44And when we no longer believe in our democracy,
05:47it only becomes easier for people like Donald Trump to convince us of his worth,
05:54for billionaires to convince us that they must always lead.
05:57As FDR said, democracy has disappeared in several other great nations.
06:04Not because the people disliked democracy,
06:08but because they had grown tired of unemployment and insecurity,
06:14of seeing their children hungry while they sat helpless in the face of government confusion and weakness.
06:21In desperation, they chose to sacrifice liberty in the hope of getting something to eat.
06:30New York, if we have made one thing clear over these past months,
06:34it is that we need not choose between the two.
06:42We can be free, and we can be fed.
06:47We can demand what we deserve.
06:52And I pledge to you that we will remake this great city, not in my image,
06:59but in the image of every New Yorker who has only known struggle.
07:03In our New York, the power belongs to the people.
07:07We dreamt in the night, and we are now building in the dawn.
07:18That new day, the one that we have struggled for,
07:21the one that we have knocked for, have texted for, have called for,
07:25the one that we have obsessed over.
07:31That new day is finally here, my friend.
07:38And it is here, because you have delivered it.
