00:00Jeremy, I know at the time of this recording, the team still does not have a coach.
00:04Everybody's still anxious about that.
00:06But the Knicks bench ranked last in minutes per game last season.
00:10Do you think we'll see more of a defined rotation for younger players that you mentioned,
00:15like Pakom Dadie, Tyler Kolek, and Ariel Haperdi next season?
00:19No matter who the coach is, do you think the Knicks will play those guys more
00:23and see what they had with the talent that they drafted just a year ago?
00:27I sure hope so.
00:28And the reason for that being, okay, you've got Huckporti for one more season
00:31before he hits restricted free agency.
00:34You've got two years after this year for Dadie,
00:37you want to at least have him start to take a step forward.
00:40You've got Kolek, who can be a restricted free agent after his third year in the league
00:44or an unrestricted free agent after his fourth year.
00:47So if I'm the Knicks, I've invested assets into these players.
00:50I want to see what I've gotten them.
00:52I want to be able to give them the opportunity.
00:54We know that a player like Kolek, despite not playing well,
00:56does a great job of finding players in the corners.
00:59The Knicks like their corner threes.
01:00They hit them at the same frequency last year,
01:02but the rest of the league took more of them in general than they had in years before.
01:07So the Knicks going back to the well of how do we hit corner threes would be beneficial.
01:12Kolek can help there.
01:13With Dadie, his defense is strong.
01:15You know, he's not the fastest of players, but he can move pretty well on his feet.
01:19But granted, we haven't seen it at a high level, at the highest level, a ton.
01:23And then when you have Huck Porte, it's the question of we know he can pass out of the short roll.
01:27He can rebound well.
01:29He's a good defender.
01:30He can protect the rim.
01:32You want to see what you've got in these guys,
01:33especially as if you have other moves that you need to make,
01:36you need to plug up the depth somewhere.
01:38So being able to play them more minutes,
01:42I think it's pretty essential for how the Knicks can grow,
01:44not just ceiling-wise, but purely raising their floor.
01:48When players get hurt, you want them to be able to step in where they can.
01:51And you mentioned the Knicks were last in minutes per game.
01:53It's absolutely true, especially being last in points per game.
01:56So even though those players, you're not going to maybe find a lot of scoring
02:00out of Dadie, Huck Porte, or Kolek, or maybe even Deuce McBride,
02:04but finding ways to get more energy, moving Josh Hart even to the bench.
02:10If he's able to create more and do more against bench units instead of starters,
02:16he's able to go in transition.
02:17We know he loves that coast-to-coast right-left move.
02:20So if he can do a little bit more of that and help with rebounding and everything else,
02:24you raise the bench play a little bit more, alleviate the starters,
02:28it just makes for a more cohesive team.
02:31Yeah.
