00:00It's all the hype around the 2025 Giants.
00:05Real, Brandon London, alongside longtime New York Post sports columnist Steve Serby.
00:10Serby, we haven't seen the expectations put on this franchise and this team in that locker room in quite some time.
00:18You've got an article out on the Post.
00:21A lot of people are saying it.
00:23The buzz is on social media.
00:25Is this a playoff team?
00:27I'll ask you, sir.
00:28Well, let me put it this way.
00:30I'm not chugging the Kool-Aid, Brandon, but I'm starting to sip it a little bit.
00:35I think there's a legitimate buzz and hype around this team.
00:38They've got leadership in every room now.
00:41Joe Shane has brought in experienced veterans, starting with Russell Wilson, who is here to hold the fort until Jackson Dart is ready.
00:50And Russell Wilson, all he has to do is manage the game because that defense will have his back.
00:57That defense will get him better field position.
01:01That defense will enable him to just manage the game.
01:07And he should be able to score more than 16.1 points per game.
01:12Remember last year, Joe Shane was telling us that basically the quarterback, Daniel Jones, and all the other guys were holding the team back.
01:20Well, now Russell Wilson gets to prove whether Joe Shane is right or not.
01:25To a large degree, Daniel Jones was holding the team back.
01:28But 16.1, you're not going to win in many games scoring 16.1.
01:34Russell Wilson can score 20 points, I believe, as long as he manages the game and lets the defense do most of the dirty work.
01:43And that pass rush, Brandon, you know, we've seen what Abdul Carter can mean.
01:47And there is a path to the playoffs for the Giants, and I wrote about it in the New York Post, and you'll be the first one to read it.
01:56Thank you, sir.
01:56I feel very kind that I get to be the first set of eyes on that.
02:00But I'm talking to you now, and the fact that you broke it down to the 10th, 16.1,
02:06sounds like you're being generous to last season's offense and what we've seen before in the offense.
02:12So you talk about the leadership that's there.
02:14That's an intangible.
02:14You talk about the roster construction of this team that Joe Shane and Brian Dable has been able to put together.
02:21But a lot of people worry about the strength of schedule.
02:25Are they still a playoff team looking at the strength of schedule on paper?
02:29Now, wait, I'm not saying they're a playoff team.
02:31I'm saying there is a path for them to reach the wild card.
02:35In the NFL, we've seen surprise teams every year.
02:39I mean, nobody thought the Commanders would go to the NFC Championship game a year ago.
02:43Of course, they have Jaden Daniels.
02:45The Giants do not.
02:47But the Giants were 0-6 in the division last year.
02:52They were 1-8 at home.
02:55They were 1-8 in one-score games.
02:59You would think Russell Wilson can win a couple of those games and or Jackson Dart whenever Jackson Dart is ready.
03:06Now, a big key is Andrew Thomas.
03:09Andrew Thomas has to be the anchor of an offensive line that's deeper and has some continuity from a year ago.
03:16And Graham Gonneau is healthy this year.
03:20That will help with all these games decided by seven points or less in the NFL.
03:24A healthy Graham Gonneau can make a difference.
03:27So, add it all up.
03:30And, oh, one more thing.
03:31I didn't harp enough on the pass rush.
03:34How about Abdul Carter, who spied on quarterbacks in college?
03:39How about Abdul Carter spying on Jaden Daniels on Sunday?
03:44So, you're sipping the Kool-Aid.
03:48I like to call that taking a shot of the Kool-Aid.
03:51What do you need to see from the Giants in the beginning of the season for you to take keg stands of the Kool-Aid?
03:57Well, I think they can steal this game Sunday.
04:00That's where it starts.
04:01The Giants have been, the last two years, they've been outscored like 1,000-6 in the first two games.
04:08So, Dable has to be, is conscious of that.
04:11So, get off to a fast start, upset the Commanders, then ride a wave of momentum into Dallas,
04:18and Micah Parsons will not be greeting the Giants at the airport when they fly into town.
04:24So, week two, either way, is a winnable game.
04:28So, if they steal the opener, imagine that, and then go in and beat the Cowboys and embarrass Jerry Jones.
04:362-0 when they come home for the home opener.
04:38Hey, it's not impossible.
04:42Not impossible at all.
04:44Serby, I can't wait until we're doing keg stands of the Kool-Aid.
04:48It won't be Kool-Aid.
04:49All right.
04:50My keg stand.
04:52It won't be Kool-Aid on my keg stand.
04:53I love the way you think, Serby.
04:55For more of Steve Serby's columns and more from our Giants beat writers,
