00:00All right, Dexter, I have five stats from week two of the NFL season.
00:03I want you to tell me, do these stats matter?
00:06Okay, do these stats matter?
00:07Yes.
00:07All right, I'm here for it.
00:08First one, Justin Fields is 0-24 now in his career
00:13when the opponent scores 21 points or more.
00:16Yo, that's a lot of losing.
00:200-24 in his career when the opponent scored 21 points or more.
00:24What I find interesting, does that matter?
00:26It does because it tells you he's probably generally not been in a lot of close games.
00:31And if he has been in close games that are high-scoring affairs,
00:35he has not clearly, he has not fared well, right?
00:38Like he has not done well.
00:39So I do think it matters because if you get Justin Fields in a shootout,
00:43we saw this in week one against the Steelers.
00:45A lot of points scored.
00:46Jets scored 32 points in a game.
00:48So they were scoring, but he just hasn't come through in the end.
00:51Now, some of that is circumstantial with your team.
00:54I don't like to put it all on the quarterback.
00:57But, yeah, that's a lot of losing.
00:590-24.
01:00How do you not win a game when your defense gives up more than 21 points?
01:04We saw, like you mentioned, it almost happened last week,
01:07but just strange that he can't do that.
01:10Yeah, to be fair, we saw that in week one, right?
01:13Justin Fields was not the reason.
01:15So he can put up points.
01:16We saw it last week.
01:17But for some reason, the offense and defense, when he's able to do it,
01:21don't line up together.
01:23Some of it is he played for the Bears.
01:25Sorry, Bears fans.
01:25He played for the Bears.
01:27Your Steelers.
01:28The Steelers.
01:29And I'm trying to think of a game when he had 21 points with the Steelers.
01:33It was probably one of the two that he lost with them last year.
01:35And I'm just, this is not coming to mind.
01:37But at some point, you're like, damn, yeah, you think you'd win a game.
01:41Again, not all of it is on him.
01:43But it's like, has Justin Fields ever shown that he's been the reason
01:46you could win a high-scoring game late?
01:48To be fair, he hasn't shown that.
01:49To also be fair, sometimes he's had the kid gloves on him
01:52where he's not been allowed to throw as much.
01:55When it's 0-24, it is on you, though.
01:570-24.
01:58That's a big enough sample size to be like, yeah,
02:00that's something up with Justin Fields.
02:02I guess what you're saying.
02:03On three different teams.
02:04On three different teams.
02:05You're like, you win one of these at some point.
02:08Right?
02:08Again, not his fault that they lost week.
02:11He did everything he could week one against the Steelers.
02:14Not his fault they did that with Xavier Gibson,
02:17if you really end penalties.
02:19But final drive, though.
02:22Good quarterback gets down in field goal range there.
02:24Well, that's the thing.
02:25Good quarterbacks do that, right?
02:26We know there's good quarterbacks do that, Tommy.
02:28And they're going to find a way to do it.
02:31And we're not saying Justin Fields is a bad quarterback.
02:33But clearly, with 0-24, he hasn't shown it yet.
02:35I agree.
02:35It does matter.
02:35Next one.
02:36Russell Wilson leads the NFL in passing yards.
02:39Does that matter?
02:40Absolutely not.
02:41It does not matter at all.
02:43It's nice.
02:44We saw the moon balls.
02:46My guy, Brandon London, was going crazy.
02:47He loved the moon balls.
02:48It's all nice and well.
02:50It didn't translate to a win.
02:52They went to the moon ball once too many.
02:54Because, yeah, his last pass he threw, that was good.
02:58Leading the NFL yards is nice.
02:59You know what would be better?
03:00If the Giants had a win.
03:01It would be a lot better.
03:01Yeah.
03:02I agree.
03:02I agree.
03:03It doesn't matter.
03:03Third one, Lions have three 50-point games now since the start of last season.
03:10The rest of the NFL has won.
03:12That's a wild stat.
03:14Three 50-point games since the start of last season.
03:16Tampa Bay Buccaneers, week six against the Saints last year, got it done.
03:22We saw it last week from the Lions.
03:24Crazy.
03:25I forgot about that.
03:25Does that matter?
03:27Yeah, I think it matters.
03:28Because I think it talks about how balanced Detroit's offense could be.
03:32We know what they can do with their two at a running back with Jameer Gibbs and, you know,
03:36Sonic and Knuckles.
03:37We know what they can do there, right?
03:38I think it does matter.
03:40They can put up points.
03:40I think it also matters when they got these 50-point games.
03:43We saw them struggle in week one.
03:45They bounced back nicely here.
03:47Yeah, I think it matters.
03:47Detroit's offense is good.
03:49They're tough.
03:50You think their defense could be a little bit better this year.
03:52But to show their offense has the explosion, the power that can be explosive, they can
03:55put up six-plus touchdowns, yeah, I think it matters.
03:58I think this 50-point performance really mattered because they proved they can do it without
04:04Ben Johnson.
04:05I thought without the two coordinators, they were going to take a step back.
04:09Now, it's against the Bears, so got to see more.
04:11But it's a step in the right direction that they're going to be okay.
04:13The Bears are out here catching strays.
04:15But they are the Bears.
04:17Yes.
04:18No.
04:18The Bears will always be the Bears.
04:19I think it's a great point you mentioned there about the fact that without Ben Johnson,
04:23you know, I think a lot of people think they would take a step back.
04:25I was one of them.
04:26Yeah, but they've been fine.
04:27I think also we've got to put some respect on Dan Campbell's name.
04:30He's done a fantastic job coaching.
04:31He loses his two coordinators.
04:33It seems like they haven't missed a beat.
04:34Another one.
04:35Eagles, the first team in the last 25 years to go 2-0 without throwing a touchdown.
04:41Does that matter?
04:43Yeah, it does matter.
04:45It does.
04:46Now, look, I think I know how you feel about the tush push.
04:49I know you're not a fan of the tush push.
04:51Rid of it.
04:51Garbage.
04:51Not football.
04:52Look, we know they can move the ball.
04:54We know they can impose their will.
04:56I think it matters that they can do that.
04:59But I think it also matters that they haven't been throwing the ball well.
05:01Yeah, I agree.
05:02New offense coordinator we just talked about with the Lions.
05:05What do they have?
05:05Just over 100 yards a game in the air.
05:07101 yards passing.
05:08Against the Chiefs?
05:09That's not a good look.
05:11You start to worry, will A.J. Brown get frustrated?
05:13Will Devonta Smith start getting frustrated with what's going on there?
05:16Yeah.
05:17Look on the sideline for A.J. Brown.
05:19Yeah.
05:19We'll see.
05:20I think it matters.
05:21It's nice to be able to run the ball.
05:23But if you're showing me you can't pass the ball in today's NFL, not a good look.
05:27Last one.
05:28You know I had to squeeze this one in.
05:29Colts became the first team in the Super Bowl era to not punt in their first two games.
05:34Does that matter?
05:35No, that's a good stat.
05:36I didn't know that either.
05:37It matters for you.
05:39It doesn't matter for you.
05:39It doesn't matter for the NFL.
05:41It definitely matters for me.
05:43I've been hanging my hat on this one.
05:44Here's why I think it matters.
05:45I'm going to say yes, it matters.
05:46Because we also got to remember Daniel Jones.
05:50It's a person quarterbacking for the Colts.
05:52If you would have told me a Daniel Jones-led offense did not punt in the first two weeks,
05:57I would have been like, what kind of substance?
05:59How many interceptions has he thrown?
06:01That's what you'd be asking.
06:02I'd be asking that, yeah.
06:03That's the reason I'm punting.
06:04Zero.
06:05But he's thrown zero.
06:06Would you have believed that?
06:07No.
06:08No, I would not have.
06:08I wasn't buying this.
06:10I was not happy about the Daniel Jones experiment.
06:12And two weeks in, I'm all in.
06:14I'm all in.
06:15Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
06:16I love it.
06:17I think he's looked incredible.
06:19I'm sold.
06:20So you're like Anthony Richardson who?
06:21Exactly.
06:22You forgot about the man.
06:23Pretty much.
06:23You're willing to trade him.
06:25Maybe some red zone stuff.
06:26They struggle in the red zone.
06:27I'd think about maybe a package for Anthony Richardson in the red zone.
06:29But that's about it.
06:31I'm good.
06:31Daniel Jones is the guy for now.
06:33I think it matters because it can build.
06:34I should have added this.
06:35I think it can build confidence for Daniel Jones.
06:37Yeah.
06:37I think it can build confidence for the rest of the Colts offense.
06:40I do need to see a little bit more, and I'm sure you do too.
06:42Yeah.
06:42But I think it's just a confidence builder.
06:45And now this team is believing in Daniel Jones.
06:47You're believing in Daniel Jones?
06:48I'm in.
06:49Guys, you should have heard this man a couple weeks ago.
06:52He was out.
06:52Out.
06:53I was not happy.
06:54I didn't even at all.
06:55And a lot of Colts fans were in the same boat as I was on that.
06:58So you think this matters too?
07:00Like for them in the long term?
07:03No.
07:04I'll be honest.
07:05I don't know.
07:05Well, because we saw it last year with the Saints.
07:08They scored on their first nine possessions.
07:11Colts broke that record as well, scored on their first 10.
07:13And then all of a sudden the Saints went downhill.
07:15You got to see more.
07:16It's a sign in the right direction.
07:17Does it really matter?
07:18They turned the ball over on downs a couple times.
07:20Right.
07:21So like if they don't go there, there's a couple punts.
07:23So it's a little cheeky in that sense.
07:26But it is showing that this offense is a lot better than I think anybody could have expected.
07:31Daniel Jones has been a lot better than anybody could have expected.
07:35But I don't know if it really matters.
07:37It's a sign in the right direction.
07:39I think it can matter for their confidence going forward if they can build upon this.
07:44Like if they're good at the end of the year, we point to the Colts and we're like, yeah,
07:48that is a good team that can maybe make a run in the playoffs.
07:51Then we'll point to this stat and be like, well, look at how good of a start we should have done.
07:55Right.
07:55But if they don't, then nobody's going to.
07:57Right.
07:57It can also go the opposite direction.
07:59Daniel Jones turns back into who Daniel Jones has been.
08:01And then we'll be like, well, who cares?
08:03I think that's fair.
08:04I like this.
08:05Those are some good stats, man.
08:06Yeah.
08:06Thanks.
08:07Really good.
08:08Doesn't matter.
08:09Sometimes it does.
08:10Sometimes it does not.
08:14Sometimes it does.
08:15Sometimes it does.
08:16Sometimes it does.
08:17Sometimes it does.
08:18Sometimes it does.
08:19Sometimes it does.
08:20Sometimes it does.
08:21Sometimes it does.
08:22Sometimes it does.
08:23Sometimes it does.
08:24Sometimes it does.
08:25Sometimes it does.
08:26Sometimes it does.
08:27Sometimes it does.
08:28Sometimes it does.
08:29Sometimes it does.
08:30Sometimes it does.
08:31Sometimes it does.
08:32Sometimes it does.
08:33Sometimes it does.
08:34Sometimes it does.
08:35Sometimes it does.
08:36Sometimes it does.
08:37Sometimes it does.
