00:36You know, so it's more just letting the day unfold, seeing where we're at, and then making a final call

00:45Is there any more clarity on Aaron Judge yesterday? You said you did not believe he started any baseball activity.
00:50He did some hitting underneath and threw yesterday underneath. Obviously, the weather didn't allow us to get outside.
00:58I believe he'll be part of the live today. So, you know, he's making progress. We'll continue to see where
01:06he's at.
01:06How realistic is it when you could put him in right field in this corner? Do you strictly bench hitter
01:11and DH?
01:12Yeah, I don't know. We'll continue to evaluate and I'll listen to trainers and medical and see where we're at.
01:19Yeah, I mean, there's a few roster decisions still that we keep kind of bouncing back and forth, thinking about
01:28lineup construction, thinking about, so those are still things that I'm wrestling with to some degree.
01:38Ultimately, we've got to settle on it tomorrow and go let it rip.
01:42We know we'll have our work cut out for us. You know, we'll be ready to go, certainly, and hopefully
01:48we can get to him a little bit in support and camp.
01:52I mean, he's got a great fastball. He's got a great four-seam fastball. You know, he's got a great,
01:59you know, kind of competitive presence to him. You know, we talk about Cam a lot. You know, I don't
02:06know Peyton, but he seems to have that good level of confidence, but also having a lot of fun out
02:13there and, you know, not stressing out about it.
02:16But, you know, it starts with, you know, he's got a great fastball that he's able to command, you know,
02:22top of the zone, works his breaking ball off of that.
02:27So, but he seems to have a really, a really good presence to him.
02:30You guys have had a postseason where you're waiting for a guy to get back from the injury and see
02:34him and think if he can beat the clock, but maybe not to the extent of a three-time MVP,
02:38like John, how would you describe that kind of this period right now where you're waiting to find out, not
02:44just if you're getting a guy back, but guys with that kind of impact?
02:50I don't know. Simply just waiting on that, you know, trying to get guys, you know, a number of those
02:57guys that are knocking on the door, trying to get them healthy and right, and then we make a call.
03:02Yeah, I mean, it's one of those things I'm considering. Volpe's very much in play. The platoon stuff is in
03:09play there.
03:11You know, obviously Jazz is just coming back from, from the thumb. He was able to get a couple games
03:16in. Would have liked another one or two, but the weather didn't really cooperate this weekend.
03:24So, Anthony's put himself very much in the mix to be, be a part of the equation.
03:29Have you made any determination on Grisham and Weathers yet?
03:34Not a final decision. Grish very much in play. Again, another important day for him. He'll be part of the
03:40lives as well.
03:45Not a final on Weathers yet. We may have him throw today, so still working through that.
03:51I think it's the number one motivating factor. You know, that's, that's probably the first reason you do this.
04:00And why you pour so much into it. I mean, there's other things that matter too, of course.
04:08But that is the number one factor, you know, for a lot of us here that have been here a
04:13while.
04:14You know, we've had a lot of success, but we haven't, we haven't won the big one and, and haven't
04:19been the last team standing.
04:20And that ultimately is the number one driving force and continues to be.
04:25Aaron, I know we talked a lot about the specialness of this rivalry, but now it's in front of us
04:31again in the postseason.
04:33Can you just talk for a moment about what makes this such a great rivalry and some say the best
04:40of all schools?
04:41Yeah, I mean, look, I think the proximity, the Northeast, the historical components that go back over a hundred years,
04:54the success of the two franchises, some of the epic series of the two franchises.
05:04We obviously play in the same division with one another, you know, over the years going way back,
05:11there's competition for, you know, similar players and free agents.
05:16But I think it ultimately comes down to two big markets where baseball means so much to so many people
05:24and the passionate fan bases that exist for both when you're talking about two franchises that have been very successful.
05:33So, yeah, I mean, it's, it's, it's special to be a part of.
05:39It always is.
05:40It's, you know, even when you go there for a regular season series or they come here for a regular
05:44season series,
05:45it always feels a little bit bigger.
05:47And now back-to-back years, we're, we're going up in this wild card series against them.
05:52So it'd be a great battle there.
05:54They've had a great year and a great club and, you know, certainly looking forward to it.
05:59I mean, I don't know.
06:00I, I, I, you know, my baseball life goes back to when I, as far as I can remember,
06:09riding my big, big wheel in the clubhouse and veteran stadium.
06:13So, I, you know, my, my dad and my grandpa and, you know, over 50 years, I feel like I've
06:20been in the game.
06:22It's all I know.
06:25Obviously, that, that moment is, is what people, a lot of people identify with me.
06:31And I understand that a lot of people have a amazing story.
06:35A lot of those that I've heard tied to that moment.
06:39And as a sports fan myself, you know, I, I, I certainly have an appreciation for that.
06:45Because I have my own moments in, in sports fandom that are unbelievable.
06:51So, yeah, I mean, it's what a lot of things I'm known for, I guess.
06:56But, um, I don't necessarily look at it that way.
07:00It's probably about a year since Cam's, uh, incredible start against the Red Sox there.
07:05Have you seen everything that you've seen from this year?
07:07Is it almost amazing just that that almost doesn't phase him at all?
07:11That it doesn't seem like any moment is, it's like, better than the others at this point?
07:15Yeah, I mean, we obviously love his makeup.
07:18You know, he's, he's obviously super talented and, and really skilled.
07:24Um, but he's also mentally really tough and, and able to, to focus.
07:31And it seems like the bigger the, the game, the, the better he seems to be here in his young
07:35career.
07:36How have your philosophies, approaches, strategies about managing October changed since that 2018?
07:43Yeah, I mean, it's hard to say.
07:44It's hard to look back.
07:45I mean, you, you certainly evolve and experience teaches you a lot.
07:49Um, so I don't, I don't know how to put that necessarily into words because you're just, you're living day
07:57by day and constantly trying to get better.
08:01And hopefully you learn from experience, um, that, that teaches you certain things in certain situations.
08:06I think, I think I've benefited from that.
08:10Um, but, you know, it all comes down to starting tomorrow in game one.
08:15It's like, none of that matters really.
08:19Does the experience create like a better sense of comfort for you where, where you're more familiar so you're not?
08:26Um, I don't know.
08:27Every, every, every post season's different, you know, um, there's been post seasons where we've kind of limped in.
08:34Um, there's been post seasons where I feel like, you know, we headed in, you know, kind of at our
08:39best.
08:40You know, I go back to last year a lot.
08:41You know, you guys heard me talk a lot about, I felt really good about, we went through a lot
08:45as a club last year.
08:46And I felt like we're playing our very best at the end, um, um, you know, in 22, we had
08:53a great club for most of the year, but we were kind of broke at the end and kind of
08:57limped in and, um, got to the championship series.
09:00But we're a shell of what we were probably in July or August.
09:03So every year is a little bit different this year.
09:06There's a lot more decisions to make as far as the roster.
09:09Some years where you're, you know, really kind of fighting over who's the 26th man, uh, whether that's a pitcher
09:15or position player.
09:16This year, you know, there's a lot more in flux there.
09:20So, you know, this year presents its own different challenges.
09:24Where you thought he might be as he heads into the playoffs for the first time?
09:28Ready.
09:29What gives you that confidence?
09:31Just watching him go through it all those couple of months, how he's handled himself, how he's handled success and,
09:38and fallen down.
09:40Like, um, you know, I feel like he's, he's totally equipped for it.
09:45You never know, you know, how it's going to go in a game here and there or a series and,
09:50and it's, you know, baseball is going to baseball a little bit there.
09:55But, um, you know, I believe in the skills and the makeup.
