Boy dies in foyer of Queensland police station after crash at Ormeau

Investigations are underway after a three-year-old child died in a police station foyer in south-east Queensland.

00:00Police responded to a single vehicle crash at Ormo on the northern edge of the Gold Coast just before 5 o'clock this morning.

00:09Authorities say a passer-by helped a 22-year-old woman and a 3-year-old child at the scene, then took them to the Beanley Police Station.

00:17The toddler became unresponsive a short time later. Officers tried CPR, but the child couldn't be saved.

00:23Authorities say a 24-year-old man, believed to have been in the vehicle at the time of the crash, left the scene with a 1-year-old boy.

00:30They were found at a Beanley address about an hour and a half later.

00:34The baby was taken to hospital in a stable condition, and police say the man is assisting with inquiries.

00:40Multiple crime scenes have been established. Officers say there's no threat to the community as investigations continue.
