00:01We know that this fire was an intense one.
00:05It started just after three o'clock yesterday afternoon here in Logan,
00:09about 20 kilometres south of Brisbane.
00:11The full picture of what happened during that fire has really come to light this morning.
00:15You can probably see behind me this two-storey home has been absolutely gutted by fire.
00:22Leaves have been burnt off the trees on the property
00:25and there are several cars parked on the property that have been burnt out as well.
00:30We're told the smoke from this fire could be seen for kilometres,
00:34even from the M1, the main highway that runs in between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
00:40Two people were sadly found deceased inside the property
00:44once firefighters managed to put the blaze out.
00:47That took them about an hour to do so.
00:50Those two people have now been identified as Leanne Laver and Philip Gordon,
00:56both residents of the property.
00:57Four people did manage to escape the blaze.
01:01One of them, Leanne's husband, Ari Laver, spoke with us this morning.
01:05He told us of his absolute devastation at this event
01:09and his desperate pleas to try and help Leanne escape the building.
01:14We tried to pull the hose through.
01:16Within seconds, it was just a wall of smoke.
01:19I just screamed at my son to get out.
01:20I tried to run back to the front stairs
01:23when I realised my wife had not come down the front stairs.
01:27The last thing she'll remember is that I ran past her.
01:30Ari is not quite sure what caused this fire,
01:34but he suspects an electrical fault in the gaming room of the home
01:38in the downstairs part of the property may be to blame.
01:43Fire investigators have arrived at the scene this morning.
01:46They're currently sifting through what remains of this property
01:50to try and determine the cause of the blaze.
