00:00I've been working with for now 35 years and yes we ran into each other at Penn State back in the
00:06late 80s early 90s you know who he is the long-range expert the crystal ball meteorologist
00:12Joe Lumberg Joe lots to talk about next week yeah you look at the big board here in our three things
00:17to know and number one number two number three these are all things that our long-range team
00:21has really been talking about for a couple of weeks now it's definitely going to be cool here
00:25as we end the month of October across much of the south and the east and as we make this
00:29transition there's going to be a nor'easter threat for the mid to late week period from the
00:33Carolinas on north to New England meanwhile storms just continue to batter the northwest one after
00:38another after another in the next week in fact if you look at the satellite picture that you've been
00:42using this morning I think it really just shows the story you've got one system about ready to come
00:46inland so that's the first in the parade here comes another one right behind it there's the third one
00:51lined up and that really sets the table for the pattern that we're looking at going forward we're
00:56going to see that general troughiness across the northwest with one system after they're coming
01:01into Seattle important I was looking at some of the rainfall totals that are being projected there
01:04over a five six day period you're talking two to four maybe even five or six inches of rains
01:10especially get up in the foothills so I guess there's a risk for some flooding and some pretty
01:14high snow levels as well meanwhile dry across much of the south and that cool air will be coming in
01:19across the northeast but keep an eye on the system that comes through the south this weekend
01:22as it moves off the southeast coast that'll be the impetus for an area of low pressure to form
01:27and with high pressure sitting to its north you're going to start to see those winds increase along
01:31the mid-atlantic coast and therein lies the ingredients for the potential nor'easter you know
01:36joan we were talking with our ally reed we call her the jersey girl she's really connected to jersey
01:42she was at strathmere and she uh and we've also been getting a lot of footage let's say from
01:48avalon and the jersey shore this whole area let's say from ochre coke all the way up towards sandy hook
01:56the beaches are already compromised I mean look at the the amount of erosion we've seen
02:02along the jersey shore and avalon it's amazing I mean you had the hurricane that went by in september
02:08stayed well offshore but several days of pounding the beaches a couple of other systems including that
02:13uh tropical rainstorm a couple of weeks ago that just battered the beaches up and down the eastern
02:17seaboard and therein lies the concern as this nor'easter begins to take shape tuesday to the
02:23night into wednesday infused by some jet stream energy during the midweek period high pressure to
02:27the north onshore flow and a tight impact zone in here those beaches could get uh really hammered
02:33and compromised even more with a threat for some flooding too accuweather long-range expert
02:38the crystal ball meteorologist joe lumber thanks for joining us joe
