00:00More miles, does that equal more speed? You need intense, hard intervals. Not
00:04everybody has no kids and lives alone and can do whatever they want. People have
00:09realized with real responsibilities, how do you fit intensity into a real
00:14person's schedule? For me, being a mom, I like to train indoors with my bike on my
00:19trainer and so I aim to ride three times a week. Two of those days I focus on
00:24shorter, harder efforts and then the other one is a longer effort. An important
00:28thing to remember about the short hard efforts is that it takes a lot out of
00:32you so it takes a lot to recover and you can only do high quality work if you're
00:36recovering so pay attention to the rest and part of being a parent, part of
00:40having a job and having life that happens outside of the bike is that there's
00:43things that happen off the bike that impact the quality of the work that you
00:46can do on the bike. Pay attention to what life is feeling like off the bike when you
00:51think about your workouts on the bike and just because your schedule might say you
00:55need to do a hard ride today or because you had an off day yesterday doesn't
00:59always mean that you're ready to go hard. If you're gonna train hard you have to
01:04rest hard.
