00:00From a very windy Venice Film Festival, we saw Bun today, the new film by Jorgos Lanthimis in competition, with, once again, the very close Emma Stone in the lead role.
00:12It is a sort of remake of a 2003 South Korean production entitled Save the Green Planet.
00:18The screenplay, this is an important detail for reading the entire film, is not by Jorgos Lanthimis, but by Ari Aster, um, who we recently saw in competition at the Cagedington Film Festival, in which, among other things, Emma Stone also appears, together with Will Tracy, a long-time screenwriter of the TV series Succession and of the film by Mark My Milad, The Menu, with Eddington.
00:48Bun shares more than a few similarities and, in general, the surrealist tone and the dark comedy traits so dear to Ari Aster echo here in a predominant way.
01:05From our point of view, it's a rather successful film and perhaps above all the film by Lanthimos that questions our present and future the most and that elaborates its own idea of apocalypse.
01:18In fact, for this reason, it will be very interesting to read it in relation to Eddington once it comes out in Italy.
01:31At the moment, it's hard to imagine it being in the running, especially considering that, well, Antimus is not a name that is unfamiliar with awards and, as we were saying, Jesse Plemons won at KH.
01:42A, and above all poor creatures won the Golden Lion here.
01:51Um, but certainly if you are a fan of Jorgo's Lanthimos you will not be disappointed,
01:56but even if you are not big fans of the Greek director's cinema, you might actually be surprised.
02:00It's very difficult to talk about Bogna without giving away spoilers,
02:10but we can certainly advise you to wait for it with that touch of surreal ambiguity and strangeness that precedes the release of every film by Jorgo's Lanthimos.
