Transcript
00:00all right grit testing this is our razor blades stalker not sure what steel
00:15that's supposed to be doesn't say but 120 degree edge 1000 grit
00:24the steel is 5550 so 55 HRC file bites and the 50 skates yeah it's a few little rough spots on
00:39there because we started at I think about 200 and something grit so it's a few little rough spots
00:48on the edge but unfortunately that can't be helped but so hopefully we are aware of the
00:56fact that there are a few little spots where it's been niggly all right so let's see what
01:09this edge can do at 1000 grit in 20 degrees
01:39oh
02:09Alright, looks like we've reached a failure point.
02:37I've resharpened the knife and you may notice that there is something missing from here.
02:47There is a stupid stupid retarded lump missing from the spine of the knife.
02:54It's gone and it just feels so much nicer now I've got to tell you.
03:00500 grit. So this is now half the grit of the 1000 grit.
03:10I think we did 200 slices I think at 1000 grit.
03:17Ooh that's nice and sharp. 500 grit.
03:21Okay so that is 500 grit at 20 degrees.
03:28And no we're missing a hump now. It's not a humpback anymore.
03:33It's a conventional sort of knife design now. It even looks nicer.
03:37It looks nicer. It feels nicer.
03:40Oh why do people do stupid things, eh?
03:43Why, why, why?
03:45Anyway, 500 grit. Let's see what it can do versus 1000 grit.
03:52So we're gonna get this back.
03:56.
04:00.
04:04.
04:07.
04:09.
04:13Okay, so I'm going to go ahead and go ahead and go ahead and go ahead and go ahead and
04:43Oh it feels like that urch is vanishing
05:09I think that was 300 slices and is the edge gone?
05:19Ok a bit of fatigue there and I'm not holding it very well so let's have a look
05:35Ok 300 slices, failure point
05:51Alright so we've done 1000 grit, we've done 500 grit, this is 240 grit edge
05:58Ok so let's go here like this and take all of that off
06:16Plenty sharp
06:23Plenty sharp, 240 grit, let's see what happens
06:26Plenty sharp, 40 grit, 20 grit, 30 grit, 30 grit, 30 grit, 30 grit
06:45Oh that's perfect, yeah, it looks like a brick, a brick, a brick, a brick
06:50What is that?
07:20I don't know.
07:50I don't know.
08:20I don't know.
08:50OK, that's feeling pretty smooth there actually.
08:57That's feeling pretty damn smooth.
09:03The 240 was a lot more gritty than that.
09:10And the breeze is picking up so I'll do that.
09:17I'm so sorry.
09:24I'm so sorry.
09:26I'm so sorry.
09:30Let's go.
10:00There we go.
10:30Oh, fuck.
11:00Oh, thank God, that went through, no, that's too close to the edge, that went through,
11:29obviously wanting to catch, but, okay, I'm going to call that a failure point because my fingers hurt, all right.
