00:30Alright, some sort of thermoplastic or something, feels like some sort of plastic with this
00:48fake carbon look on the outside.
00:52Tech lock, ferro rod, let's get straight to this, okay.
00:57I don't know if the camera can see this or not, but that is a very, very, very rounded
01:07spine.
01:08Someone went to a lot of trouble to round that spine, to make a spine that nicely rounded
01:15would have taken a lot of effort, but for a bushcrafty knife, you don't want a round
01:24spine because it basically means that ferro rod is, it's not even scratching it, it's
01:31that round, you can't even mark the ferro rod.
01:35And that's just bad juju, that's what that is.
01:41It is a, I don't know if we can see this on camera or not, that is a convexed edge, so it's
01:51not a full convex, you know, starting from here and then convexing all the way over.
01:58It's basically a flat bit and then convexed, but it is terribly, terribly sharp.
02:18So the question is, how will it do on the rope?
02:39So it's rounded, the grips have been done so that the spine sort of sticks out a little
02:49bit, top and bottom, so you've got the rounding there, so you can kind of feel it when you hold
02:56it, but it's not abusive or anything like that.
03:01It feels okay in the hand, I'd say it's maybe just a little bit on the chunky side, especially
03:08the swell here, it's a little bit, just a teeny weeny bit chunky.
03:13How you'd go with it in the long run, I don't know, but it's alright.
03:25Can't complain about it, yeah.
03:27Oh, HRC.
03:28Yeah, I did a little bit of scratching over this side.
03:3260 HRC bites and 55 HRC skates.
03:41The 60 HRC only just barely mars the finish.
03:50Okay, to actually get a nice bite in the steel so that it raises ridges, I needed the 65 HRC
04:02file.
04:03So the 60 HRC was able to mar the finish and bite it a little bit, but to get a really good
04:13bite into the steel so it raises edges and everything.
04:1765 HRC.
04:18Oh, jeez, come on.
04:21I've got crumbs in my throat.
04:24So 65 HRC to actually, so I can feel it with my fingernail.
04:31But to visually mar it, 60 HRC and 55 HRC did nothing.
04:37So I finally got that out.
04:41You alright?
04:42You alright?
04:43You alright?
04:48Ah, first 50 slices on the rope.
04:57Fantastic.
04:58Absolutely fantastic.
05:00Hey, here we go.
05:53Okay, 150 slices on the rope and that handle is starting to feel a little bit chunky.
06:12It's starting to feel just a little bit chunky at 150.
06:21Okay, so...
06:51Okay, 200 slices and it's starting to feel really really chunky in my hand and a bit slippery.
07:14So these are pretty smooth grips and it's just starting to feel a little bit chunky in the hand.
07:23Suffering a bit of hand fatigue.
07:26So it is introducing some hand fatigue because of the size of the grip.
07:32It could have been 10% slimmer at the very least.
07:39Which has its value for a while.
07:49The focus of the grip of your grip is the level of the grip.
07:53Whoa
08:16We got a bit of drag there
08:20We got some drag
08:50There's definitely a spot where I'm digging into the wood
09:05Ooh
09:10You can see right there
09:13There's definitely a spot where I'm digging into the wood
09:17Where it is losing edge
09:22So we could be coming to a failure point very soon
09:38And we're excited to go into the wood
09:57Oh, that's it I think, that's it, where we're hitting the wood, we have done the deal.
10:27Oh, that's it.
10:57It's a quick and dirty wood strop and the edge is back.
11:15So there we go.
11:20I'm not sure what we did.
11:24Maybe in the 300 range.
11:27But it looks like a quick and dirty wood strop.
11:36Yeah, there's definitely, right about here, there's definitely some edge loss.
11:43Definitely, definitely some edge loss.
11:45There's definitely some edge loss.
11:46There's definitely some edge loss.
