00:00All too often I hear from parents about rising childcare costs. The average yearly cost of a
00:10full-time nursery place for a two-year-old in Wales is £14,500 a year. That's not just
00:16expensive, it's a barrier to work, to growth and to starting a family. This isn't rare. Welsh
00:22families are paying over 2,000 more a year than those just across the border and yet the Welsh
00:28government received the funding to match England's support but chose not to. In England children as
00:34young as nine months get 15 hours of free childcare if both parents work. That's real support, that's
00:41real opportunity. Let's remove the barriers, let's support our families, let's build a future where
00:47no parent is punished for living in Wales. The Welsh Conservatives believe in fairness. We believe
00:53families in Wales deserve the same support as those in England. That's why we're calling for the same
01:00childcare entitlement here to give every child the best start in life and every parent the chance to
01:06thrive.
