00:00Я говорю, Derek Stingley Jr. is one of one.
00:03This guy is put together like Saquon Barkley playing corner.
00:06It's just unbelievable to look at.
00:07And Kamari Lassiter, he is no slouch whatsoever.
00:10This will be a titanic battle, offense versus defense.
00:13They look impressive on safety.
00:14They look really impressive in person on the field.
00:17C.J. Stroud doesn't often have to produce too much to get wins.
00:21It's a challenge.
00:21The protection's been really an issue for Houston.
00:24Can they hold up tonight?
00:25Yeah, it's going to really be about C.J.'s leadership.
00:27There's a lot of other things X and O-wise that we'll get into as far as the things he's going to have to really deal with.
00:31But primarily, it's about his leadership, keeping his cool as chaos inevitably breaks out around him because it always does in NFL games, right, Dan?
00:39So for him, it's about breaking in the young wide receiver core, playing the game efficiently and on time, and making sure that they win the turnover battle.
00:47It feels like he and they in Houston are kind of searching for 2023 again.
00:51And Lewis mentioned new pieces on the perimeter, an offensive line that they're patching together, and a second offense in two years.
00:58And so for him tonight, early downs, completions, and discipline will go a long way.
01:04Can this home crowd advantage, this 12th man, help deliver a Seattle victory?
01:09A couple of legends from the Seahawks Super Bowl champion team.
01:12Cam Chancellor, Earl Thomas.
01:15Earl was excited for the game.
01:16The first time he's had the honor to do this.
01:18He's seen all the greats in the past do it.
01:20It's time to raise the flag here.
01:30They're just trying to hold a lead up in Toronto.
01:33Seahawks helping to handle business here tonight.
01:37Houston won the toss and deferred, so we'll see that nasty Texas defense going against Sam Darnold
01:45and the Seahawks' offense momentarily.
01:54He stands ready to party.
01:55Just a tremendous atmosphere tonight.
01:57And the kickoff to Derrick Young.
02:00He takes it and finds some room.
02:02He dropped just short of the 30-yard line.
02:06So Sam Darnold, you know about his journey, which began with the Jets,
02:09but in his eighth year here off that Pro Bowl season in Minnesota,
02:12a very solid first six games.
02:15Yeah, I think his greatest quality is his mental toughness.
02:19Chris, you mentioned the start of his career.
02:20Some downs, right?
02:22Some difficult times that never broke him.
02:24And he found a place in San Francisco, found a home in Minnesota,
02:27now his new home in Seattle.
02:29He is playing the best football of his career.
02:32Brady Russell, the back, lined up in front of Kenneth Walker III,
02:36who's celebrating his 25th birthday tonight.
02:41Gets the first carry and gets just a couple off the left side.
02:45Henry Otoa-Toa there on the stop.
02:50Seattle offense with Clint Kubiak calling the plays.
02:54Talked about Smith and Jigma.
02:56Cooper Cup has been a revelation.
02:57He's been so viable, Darnold says, as a leader.
03:01And his deep understanding of coverage is important.
03:03They'll use the tight ends a lot.
03:05And the offensive line up against it,
03:07against Will Anderson and Daniil Hunter,
03:09the elite pass rushers that the Texans bring.
03:13Second and eight.
03:15Fire, fire!
03:17Ball out quickly, as it will often be tonight.
03:22Smith and Jigma there, but too wide.
03:24And it's third and long.
03:25You already see it.
03:27Houston pass rush really getting some push on the interior.
03:30I think that's the thing.
03:31When you have a quarterback who gets the ball out so quickly,
03:34typically you don't have a lot of time for the defensive ends to get there.
03:37Although you see defensive coordinator Matt Burke there on your screen.
03:40It's really going to be about inside-out pressure here.
03:42Now they've got a third and long situation.
03:44This is the kind of situation, Dan,
03:45you just don't want to be in against this defense.
03:47They can play tight coverage,
03:48and they can really get after it up front.
03:50Stingley and Kamari Lasseter are as good a tandem as you'll see.
03:53Zach Charbonnet is the back.
03:55On this third and eight.
03:58They bring pressure.
03:59Darnold gets it out.
04:01And getting stopped just short of the marker is A.J. Barner.
04:06Jalen Petrie made the stop.
04:09And an early decision here.
04:11It's going to be fourth and one with the 38.
04:14Yeah, this is a football team that typically doesn't go for it on fourth down.
04:16They have a very low percentage in terms of wanting to go for it.
04:21See how they bring out the punt team.
04:22Some grumbles here.
04:23Yeah, but I think this is the right decision.
04:25You've got an elite defense.
04:26You don't really want to give Houston's offense any, at least, hot start.
04:31It's a really nice job by Houston, secondary-wise, rallying to make the tackle.
04:34This is the right decision by Mike McDonald.
04:36Michael Dixon, highest-paid punter in the NFL.
04:41It's a high boot.
04:42Braxton Berrios waves for a fair catch and then lets it bounce.
04:46And it's going to be down inside the five-yard line.
04:50So, the decision to punt looks pretty good as they pin the Texans back.
04:55Smile from Dixon there.
04:57So, here comes C.J. Stroud.
04:59So much on his shoulders.
05:02No Joe Mixon.
05:04Nick Chubb hoping to get the run game going.
05:07Looking for targets like Nico Collins tonight.
05:10This is a guy who really, over the past couple of weeks, and the last time they were out on the field against the Baltimore Ravens,
05:15he really did look comfortable.
05:17Look, when he has got time and he can survey the field, this guy has a ton of mental horsepower.
05:22He's got as smooth of an operation as you'll see among the elite quarterbacks in the NFL.
05:27And make no mistake about it, he believes he is elite, and he's planning on showing that tonight.
05:31He does.
05:31Near-perfect QBR, and that went over the depleted Ravens team.
05:35Much tougher task tonight.
05:37Stroud lining up in the end zone.
05:39And here comes the noise.
05:43And up inside to Nick Chubb.
05:45The eighth-year man, four-time Pro Bowler, plows ahead for five.
05:51A play like that, new offensive coordinator, Nick Cayley, stressing they've got to be diverse offensively tonight.
05:58You see it with Nick Chubb in a run.
06:00Lou, can they be good to get to second and seven, second and eight, try to create some favorable situations?
06:06Ask these guys up front, because a lot of it lies with them, Lou.
06:10It helped them, no question.
06:11But you know what?
06:11This is a win already for them, right, Chris?
06:13I mean, here they're sitting in second and five.
06:15That's the key to the game for them.
06:17You've got to stay out of those long, down, and distance situations.
06:24Stroud rolls and throws on a one-handed grab made by Schultz.
06:28And the tight end has a first down out across the 25.
06:32This is a nice job.
06:33You get an efficient run on first down, and then you line up with your two tight ends at the line of scrimmage.
06:39A ball fake from the underneath center quarterback, C.J. Stroud.
06:43A little block by Dalton Schultz and an easy dump-off.
06:46That's what it is right there, right?
06:50About completions.
06:51Even if you aren't the best running team in the NFL, just like credible ball handling, the credible threat of running the football, you see how it helps.
07:00Stroud, more than 70% completion rate so far.
07:04You take that tonight, it's going to be tougher against this defense.
07:07That's Drake Thomas, the linebacker, in coverage there.
07:10You see this center, this defense here, which is so tough up front.
07:14Leonard Williams having a monster year, the former Trojan.
07:17They've just got so many interchangeable parts up front.
07:20I mean, Leonard Williams can move from a three technique, rushing outside chain of the guard, to a nine outside the tackle.
07:25He's just so diverse.
07:27And Byron Murphy having a great year.
07:28Demarcus Lawrence comes over from the Dallas Cowboys.
07:30Looks like a stud.
07:31Boye Mapey.
07:32He's got dudes, man, everywhere.
07:35Lawrence coming off a monster game.
07:37Against the Jaguars.
07:39Hand off inside, swallowed up.
07:41And it's Drake Thomas, again, making the play.
07:44He'll lose three.
07:45Yeah, and you can see Seattle, they slant.
07:48They bring the backside pressure.
07:50And in that, the defensive line is slanting right into that run.
07:54And this is exactly where you don't want to be as Houston.
07:56Did you see who's the disruptor there?
07:58It's Leonard Williams.
07:59I mean, Ed Ingram just has no chance against a guy that big and strong, that quick off the line of scrimmage.
08:04He just wrecks it all right from the beginning.
08:07They feed off each other.
08:09Williams and Lawrence, these two elite pass rushing bookends.
08:12And really in this situation, who's solo?
08:15You have to help if you're Houston to chip both of your tackles with all these bodies up in the line of scrimmage.
08:20Third and 13 could be a nightmare against this crew.
08:23Stroud is back paddling.
08:25He'll be dropped.
08:26They're going to spot it outside the end zone.
08:28They're going to talk about it.
08:30The Wosu got there, and it's just outside in the field of play.
08:38Looks like it's going to be about a foot out.
08:42But Stroud very nearly trapped.
08:4518-yard loss.
08:47And when the knee went down, where was that football?
08:56Looks like it's back in the end zone.
09:00Mike Chase is a rules expert.
09:01They ruled it.
09:02No safety.
09:04And here comes the challenge flag.
09:05And now...
09:15Go ahead, Mike.
09:17Try to get Mike's mic on.
09:18Oh, there we go.
09:19This is a great challenge because that first contact is just outside.
09:23Just outside.
09:24They're not going to let them challenge us now.
09:26They've talked to the coach about this.
09:28There won't be a challenge.
09:29The first contact was outside the end zone.
09:31They're giving him progress at that point where the ball was,
09:34so there won't be a safety here.
09:36It's a judgment call.
09:38You can see...
09:38Also dragging him back by the leg.
09:42So it's not where the knee goes down.
09:43It's the first contact.
09:47Tommy Townsend...
09:48In a very short punt formation.
09:52Torrey Horton, dangerous returner.
09:53Standing in midfield.
09:54It's a low snap.
09:56Townsend does a good job to get the boot away,
09:58which drives back to the 45-yard line.
10:01And makes a cut and falls forward.
10:0555-yard punt.
10:0611 on the return.
10:08And Darnold and the Seahawks,
10:10second possession in plus territory.
10:12Scoreless early going here.
10:13Ronald Sheffer is telling Mike McDonald,
10:21you can't use the challenge flag there.
10:22Let's bring in Mike Chase.
10:23And why wasn't he allowed to challenge that
10:25and see where the ball was when he...
10:27where, you know, the ball in relation to the goal line,
10:30this situation, progress, once it's ruled,
10:32we can rule where the ball is.
10:34I'm not sure exactly why they didn't allow them
10:37to challenge that one
10:38unless they just told him it was so far out.
10:41Had they gone to replay?
10:42Are you convinced the call was correct
10:44that the ball was outside the end zone
10:45when contact was first made?
10:47I don't know that I see that.
10:48Man, if I am a Seattle fan,
10:51that one doesn't sit well with me.
10:55I thought there was an early safety signal there.
10:57But in any case, Seattle takes over at the 44.
11:08Walker, quick burst.
11:11Plows forward for about five.
11:14Kamari last hitter off the corner to make the stop.
11:16One of the things I love about this offense in Seattle
11:18with Clint Kubiak is
11:20is how they play with their multiple tight ends.
11:22A.J. Barner, second year,
11:24and Elijah Arroyo, their first year.
11:27They'll put Sam Darnold underneath the center
11:28and the diversity in their run game.
11:30That time, double tight ends,
11:32duo, which you get double teams.
11:33We're just trying to get three or four yards,
11:35get the run started.
11:36It's exactly who they are at times offensively.
11:39Third offensive coordinator in three years
11:41is Clint Kubiak, very familiar with Darnold,
11:44who looks to take a downfield shot
11:45and wide open.
11:48Catch made and run out of bounds
11:49is Arroyo, that rookie tight end from Miami,
11:52who is a downfield threat big time.
11:55And Dan talks about the fact
11:56that when you put the quarterback under center,
11:57just watch what it does here to Derek Stingley Jr.
11:59Watch the second level defenders.
12:01You see how they kind of skate along the line of scrimmage,
12:04not sure if it's runner pass,
12:05and that's because quarterback's under center.
12:07He turns his back to you.
12:08You see the eyes in the backfield.
12:10That's all it takes,
12:11and that's how dangerous it is,
12:12this play-ass and passing attack.
12:13And I love the fact that they had three tight ends
12:16on the field that time.
12:17Barner, Arroyo, and Saubert
12:19presenting run to the defense
12:21and then the play action for the shot.
12:2327-yard gain.
12:25They get into the red zone.
12:26And off the right side is Walker.
12:29This is the most run-heavy offense
12:32in the red zone in the NFL.
12:33Yeah, and it's because they believe,
12:36you know, Clint Kubiak's the son of Gary Kubiak,
12:38who's got great ties to the Texans organization.
12:40They believe good red zone offenses run the football.
12:45And if they can be efficient on those early downs there,
12:48then they'll create those matchups.
12:49Is it going to be Barner?
12:50Is it going to be Arroyo?
12:52Is it going to be JSN or Cooper Cup?
12:53Those pieces, this is the place
12:56where it's utilized the most.
12:57Second and seven.
13:05Darnold straight back.
13:06Scans across the middle.
13:07Delivers a strike.
13:09And that's Arroyo again.
13:11And it's a first and goal Seattle.
13:12This is exactly where Sam Darnold is.
13:14He talks about clicking through his progressions.
13:17Underneath the center.
13:17Watch go.
13:18One, two, three, four, five.
13:19He's going to get to the top of his drop
13:21and he's going to peak right.
13:22Not there.
13:23Reset.
13:23Second hitch.
13:24Ball out.
13:25That is exactly the biggest growth of where he is
13:28and it's why he's playing at such a high level.
13:30You see the danger that Elijah Arroyo presents to you.
13:32See how he gave that little move at the top of his route
13:35to get some separation.
13:37Here they are back under center again.
13:39Six offensive linemen in his first and goal.
13:42Charbonnet is the back.
13:44The middle was clogged.
13:45It stutters up.
13:45And now he tries to drive his way into the end zone
13:48with some help.
13:50Touchdown.
13:50They signal a flag is down at the line of scrimmage.
13:53But they have signal touchdown
13:55as the pile just pushed Houston backwards.
14:05No penalty if you couldn't hear Carl Sheffers.
14:08So
14:08Seattle
14:10takes the short field
14:12and butters right down the field.
14:14A couple of pass plays to Arroyo.
14:17Sets up the short touchdown run.
14:18This is what Zach Sarbonnet is known for.
14:20The lower body power.
14:22You can just see in that scrum.
14:23He's just continuing to use his lower body.
14:25Getting some help from his teammates.
14:28More power than 214 pounds would suggest.
14:31Yeah, absolutely.
14:32He has got a tremendous strength through his core.
14:34It's been that way throughout his entire career.
14:36But both him and Kenneth Walker.
14:38You see Kenneth Walker and how he's put together.
14:40I mean, these guys are absolute hammers.
14:44And with the way in which they marry the run game
14:45and the pass game,
14:46there's no question.
14:47This is one of the more difficult offenses to contend with.
14:49Lou, my favorite part about that drive,
14:53five plays, all five under center.
14:55In this offensive era,
14:56it's run, run, action,
14:58and then a smash-mouth goal line
14:59finished by this offense.
15:02Replay center did take a look and confirmed.
15:05Touchdown for Charbonnet.
15:07It's Jason Myers.
15:10And really,
15:11really the perfect start for Seattle.
15:13The punt backed up Stroud and the Texans.
15:15The pass rush got after him
15:17and the great field position.
15:18Just a 44-yard touchdown drive.
15:29Thanks for joining us over on ESPN2.
15:33We're about to get joined.
15:33And welcome.
15:49You are just joining us.
15:50We are in Seattle for the back half
15:51of this doubleheader
15:52and the Seahawks off to a quick start.
15:54Zach Charbonnet punching it in
15:55from one yard out.
15:57We set up by a couple of Sam Darnold
15:58to Elijah Arroyo passes.
16:00They had a short field to work with.
16:01And here's the final play of the drive.
16:03Yeah, it was a great drive.
16:05Chris, you talked about the short field
16:07and some of the run, run action.
16:09And then, you know, first down,
16:11just to finish the push
16:12by this offensive group.
16:13It's the ideal start at home for Seattle.
16:16They've just got so much diversity
16:18in this offense in terms of body types.
16:20They can play the power game.
16:21They can play a little bit of the finesse game.
16:23Sam Darnold just playing high,
16:25high-level football.
16:26Going up against one of the best defenses
16:28in the NFL in the Houston Texans.
16:29But as you can see,
16:30this is going to be a battle.
16:31This is going to be the Texans' most stern test
16:34so far this year.
16:36And the kickoff taken at the three.
16:41Raymond Smith, tightrope down the sidelines.
16:46Well, welcome to the back half of the doubleheader,
16:48the last one of the season.
16:50Chris, Lewis, and Dan.
16:52We talked about this being a defensive showcase,
16:55two nasty, aggressive defenses,
16:57and who could make enough plays to get the win.
17:00It's pretty evident early.
17:01C.J. Stroud's job is going to be tough
17:02against the Seattle defense.
17:03No doubt.
17:04Look, they've got to find out
17:05whether or not they have guys up front
17:07who can wind up protecting.
17:08Who are their go-to guys
17:09outside of Nico Collins in the passing game?
17:11And C.J. Stroud's going to have to be perfect
17:13in this football game.
17:14The defense can carry a heavy load,
17:15but they're going to need some help from this offense.
17:17And I think a big thing for C.J. is,
17:19yes, you want to play fast
17:20and get it out of your hands,
17:21but don't play so fast.
17:24You have to trust your pocket a little bit
17:25to get through your progression.
17:27Did not do that on drive one.
17:31Woody Marks is the back.
17:32Tests the middle.
17:35Seattle defense flexing
17:37as we missed in the first series.
17:39What you're seeing is this guy's up front
17:41who can just win at the line of scrimmage.
17:43There you see Leonard Williams
17:44essentially disrupting the play from the get-go.
17:47And then you see the pressure off the edges.
17:49First, it's DeMarcus Lawrence.
17:50Then it's Lucena Luoso who finishes it off.
17:53They are just so diverse
17:54in terms of their body types
17:56as you take a look at them here.
17:57Leonard Williams,
17:58I mean, you just can't say enough about him.
18:00There you see Jaron Reed.
18:02This Texans offensive line
18:03has got to find a way
18:05to give C.J. Stroud some time.
18:07Otherwise, it'll be a long night.
18:09Second, Nate.
18:11Added importance on these second-down plays
18:13to get something out of him.
18:14A swing pass to Woody Marks.
18:16He's a terrific receiver.
18:17He was throughout his college career,
18:19and the rookie gets it near the mark.
18:21So it's going to be
18:21after the seven-yard pickup,
18:23third and one.
18:23But this is how he has to play tonight.
18:25Look how quickly C.J. goes
18:26across the field
18:27and gets the ball to the rookie,
18:29Woody Marks.
18:30And if he didn't do that
18:31in the first drive,
18:32this is a good sign.
18:33That's going to be the story
18:34for C.J. Stroud tonight
18:35is how he feels that pocket
18:37and then is as efficient
18:39and as completion-driven as possible.
18:41And this is going to be
18:43an under-center...
18:45I think if you're Houston,
18:46you live in a play-action thought.
18:48Marks in the I-formation
18:50behind British Brooks
18:52and no!
18:53Fries the right side
18:54and was stopped behind the line.
18:56Ran into a blue wall there.
18:59Waving the play off is Mwosu,
19:00who's had a couple big plays
19:02already tonight.
19:03Yeah, but what started that,
19:04it's Jaron Reed.
19:05It's the pressure inside.
19:07It's the resetting
19:08of the point of attack.
19:08Just look at it.
19:09Look at how they get
19:10the knockback.
19:11You see, he's just
19:12taking the center,
19:13number 60, Jake Andrews,
19:14and he's pushing him
19:15a half a yard to a yard
19:16back in the backfield.
19:17You can just see
19:18the Texans' offensive linemen.
19:20You see how their pads go back
19:22and they're up on their heels
19:23because they're losing the battle
19:24at the point of attack.
19:25That's a discouraging sequence
19:27for Houston.
19:28They finally get a third and short.
19:30Yep.
19:30Actually go backwards on the run.
19:33So Tommy Townsend
19:34can try to flip the field here.
19:36Run in from deep
19:37and put his end zone
19:38the first time.
19:39Torrey Horton
19:39will let this one bounce
19:41and it will not check up.
19:46So the Seattle defense
19:47roaring early here
19:49and the Seahawks
19:51will take over.
19:52Big way first quarter
19:53up seven.
20:04Sam Darnold
20:05in the spotlight
20:05is the number three overall pick.
20:07Very big spotlight in New York
20:09where the loss is piled up.
20:11See the one loss record
20:13for the first three seasons.
20:1513 and 25.
20:18Then he gets straight into the Panthers.
20:20Starts there.
20:20But the real turnaround,
20:22he says,
20:22when he went to San Francisco,
20:23he got to work with Clint Kubiak
20:25and worked a lot from Brock Purdy.
20:27A Pro Bowl season
20:28for the Vikings a year ago.
20:29He's on another 4,000-yard
20:31passing pace
20:31so far this year at Seattle.
20:33Yeah, he credits his dad,
20:34you know,
20:34just constantly
20:35when he was a kid
20:36telling him,
20:36just keep on improving.
20:38That got him through
20:38some of those
20:38really difficult times.
20:40Talk more about his journey.
20:43He's engaged now.
20:45About a house in Seattle.
20:47Downright domestic
20:48and very happy
20:49with the way things are going.
20:50Play fake
20:51and fires downfield.
20:53That's Cooper Cup
20:54in stride.
20:56You can hear the serenades
20:58of Coop
20:58as the veteran
20:59speaking to find that home
21:01in Seattle
21:01back in his home state.
21:03Off to a good start this season.
21:04This is vintage Cooper Cup.
21:05This is
21:06what we would call
21:07an F leak.
21:08It's a ball fake
21:09that way
21:09and look at Sam Darnold's feet.
21:11Hitch, hitch, footwork.
21:13Hitch, hitch
21:13and then there's
21:14Cooper Cup.
21:15The ball fake
21:16sucks the defense up
21:17and you replace the vacancy
21:18with the receiver.
21:19It's the second
21:21downfield shot
21:22that Cup has caught
21:23this season.
21:2424th catch
21:25puts the ball
21:26into Texas territory
21:28or Houston territory
21:28and now Darnold
21:30feeling the pressure
21:30just fires it
21:32into the bench.
21:35He was outside
21:36the tackle box there.
21:39No flag yet
21:40for grounding.
21:45The career
21:46stats
21:47proving
21:47obviously
21:48since 23
21:49improving
21:51in every category
21:5248 and 16
21:53TDI and T
21:54ratio
21:54since 23.
21:55Once he got
21:56into that kind
21:56of system
21:57that
21:57Kyle Shanahan
21:59Sean McVay
22:00type of system
22:01he really has
22:02absolutely
22:03taken off
22:03Kevin O'Connell
22:04and it's interesting
22:05I had a conversation
22:06with Jordan Palmer
22:08years ago
22:08and he said
22:08once Sam gets
22:09into this kind
22:10of system
22:10he is going
22:10to flourish
22:11and you're seeing
22:11it happen
22:12before your eyes.
22:13Really is
22:13very comfortable
22:14here from day one
22:15Charbonnet
22:16running downhill
22:18picks up about
22:19eight to the
22:20Houston 40.
22:21I think a big
22:22thing with Sam
22:23too he credits
22:23when he was in
22:24Carolina
22:25Ben McAdoo
22:26the ex-Giants
22:26head coach
22:27with enforcing
22:29how important
22:29his feet are
22:30meaning
22:31your feet
22:32tell you when
22:32and where
22:33to throw the
22:34football.
22:34They call it
22:34clicking through
22:35your progressions
22:36and then he
22:37experienced it
22:38in San Francisco
22:38he got to watch
22:39Brock Purdy do it
22:40lived in it
22:41with Kevin O'Connell
22:42in Minnesota
22:42and it's the
22:43same system
22:44that he
22:44executes now
22:45in Seattle.
22:48Need two
22:49on this third
22:49down play.
22:52Charbonnet again
22:52and they will
22:54move the six
22:55to have
22:56Katie George
22:57and Peter Schrager
22:58along with us
22:59actually they're
23:00going to signal
23:00this fourth down
23:01they say he did
23:02not get
23:02the line to make
23:04and if I'm Houston
23:04or excuse me
23:05if I'm Seattle
23:05I absolutely go
23:06for this
23:07my defense is great
23:08I don't think
23:08Houston's going
23:09to score a ton
23:09against me
23:10and this is a big
23:11physical offense
23:12offensive line
23:12when you look
23:13at the statistics
23:14this is where
23:14Mike McDonald
23:15will go for it
23:15fourth in like
23:16one or
23:16you know
23:17less than
23:18like a yard
23:19and here it is
23:20I mean it's just
23:21fourth in inches
23:21and this offensive
23:22line has really
23:23been battling
23:23up under center
23:25is AJ Barner
23:27the tight end
23:27trying to get
23:31the Texans to jump
23:33and he snap it
23:33and he gets a shove
23:34from behind
23:35and a tight end
23:36sneak
23:36works
23:37and let's get
23:40to Peter
23:40Peter what do you
23:41have
23:41well that was
23:42one of the rare
23:43plays Sam
23:43Darnold wasn't
23:44under center
23:45the truth is
23:45he told us
23:46he finally feels
23:47like he's home
23:48Sam Darnold
23:49we know his
23:49journey
23:49he's still just
23:5028 years old
23:51and Chris
23:51you mentioned it
23:52has a fiance
23:53bought his first
23:54home
23:54and now feels
23:55like he's finally
23:56on the team
23:56where he is
23:57the guy
23:58Sam Darnold
23:59playing the best
23:59football of his
24:00career
24:00and he feels
24:01completely content
24:02as he heads
24:03into the rest
24:04of this game
24:05got the veteran
24:06cup
24:06and the young
24:07guy
24:07JSN
24:08to work
24:08with
24:09see if he
24:10can keep
24:11the downfield
24:12shot trend
24:12going
24:13it's been
24:13an electric
24:14start
24:14end around
24:15here
24:15this is
24:15Walker
24:16and he
24:18worked hard
24:19just to make
24:19a short
24:20game
24:20as the
24:21Texans
24:21invaded the
24:22backfield
24:22Jalen Petrie
24:23eventually
24:24shoved him
24:24out
24:24D'Amico
24:27Ryan's
24:28talked to us
24:28about the
24:28fact that
24:29look
24:29when you're
24:29playing
24:29against a
24:30team like
24:30this
24:30that is
24:31so
24:31under
24:31center
24:32heavy
24:32it's
24:33going to
24:33take a
24:33while
24:34for you
24:34to kind
24:34of
24:34feel
24:35how
24:35this
24:35offensive line
24:35coming off
24:36the football
24:36here
24:36you see
24:37they fake
24:38the dive
24:38and get
24:38the end
24:38around
24:39to Kenneth
24:39Walker
24:40and it
24:41takes you
24:41a little bit
24:41to kind
24:42of settle
24:42into this
24:43kind of
24:43offense
24:43that is
24:43just so
24:44under
24:44center
24:45centric
24:45you see
24:47him hit
24:47a couple
24:47big plays
24:48early on
24:49especially
24:49the pass
24:49Arroyo
24:50you saw
24:50them catch
24:51Derek Stingley
24:51with his eyes
24:52in the backfield
24:52you've really
24:53got to dial
24:54in on the
24:54quarterback's
24:55mannerisms
24:56because if
24:56you don't
24:56you're just
24:57going to be
24:57chasing things
24:58all game
24:59long
24:59Will Anderson
25:00penalized
25:01for being
25:01offside
25:02they're getting
25:02a little antsy
25:03and so
25:04it's first
25:05and five
25:05all moved
25:06to the
25:0632
25:07Charbonnet
25:13as a hole
25:15and lowers
25:15the pads
25:16and first down
25:17inside the 25
25:18this is a
25:22weak zone
25:23they come out
25:23with trips
25:24to the left
25:24and then
25:25you're just
25:25going to watch
25:26the double
25:26team front
25:27side
25:27up to the
25:28front side
25:28linebacker
25:29this is
25:29vintage
25:30west coast
25:31zone
25:31run scheme
25:32you see
25:32that seam
25:33back presses
25:34and then
25:34it's a
25:35cutback
25:35and Lou
25:35this is
25:35great
25:36you got
25:36all those
25:36perimeter
25:36players
25:37Cooper
25:37Cup
25:37and
25:38JSN
25:38the safety
25:39sit back
25:40too deep
25:40let's run
25:41it
25:41and it's
25:41a nice
25:42job
25:42by that
25:42front
25:43side
25:43real nice
25:44job
25:44by
25:44center
25:45Jalen
25:45Sundell
25:46getting
25:46movement
25:47at the point
25:47of attack
25:47against Tommy
25:48Togiai
25:49they can
25:50get
25:50movement
25:50like this
25:51it's
25:53Walker
25:54and Walker
25:55hit behind
25:56the line
25:56it's a
25:56young
25:57offensive
25:57line
25:58all of
25:58them
25:5826
25:59or
25:59younger
25:59nobody
26:00more
26:01experienced
26:01than
26:01four years
26:02in the
26:02league
26:02this
26:03football
26:04team
26:04John
26:04Schneider
26:05the
26:05general
26:05manager
26:06has done
26:06a nice
26:06job
26:07of retooling
26:07this
26:07roster
26:08he
26:08really
26:09has
26:09them
26:09young
26:09throughout
26:10the
26:10entire
26:10roster
26:10but
26:11in
26:11particular
26:11Chris
26:11as you
26:12mentioned
26:12on the
26:12offensive
26:12side
26:13and as
26:15this
26:15team
26:15continues
26:15to grow
26:16together
26:16and there
26:16you get
26:17a look
26:17at John
26:17up there
26:18in the
26:18box
26:18watching
26:18his
26:18team
26:19they are
26:21going to
26:21sneak up
26:21on some
26:21people
26:22although
26:22I don't
26:22think
26:22they're
26:22sneaking
26:23up on
26:23anybody
26:23anymore
26:24Anderson
26:26and Lassiter
26:26made the
26:27play
26:27so
26:27second
26:28and
26:2811
26:29final
26:30minute
26:30of the
26:31first
26:31quarter
26:31off the
26:32play fake
26:33Darnold
26:34just
26:34fires it
26:35into the
26:35ground
26:35the screen
26:36just wasn't
26:37there
26:37Trevenay
26:38well
26:38covered
26:39and
26:39Daniil
26:40Hunter
26:40was
26:40closing
26:41in
26:41yeah
26:42it's
26:42an ideal
26:42call
26:43defensively
26:43they
26:44pressure
26:44their
26:44nickel
26:45Jalen
26:45Petrie
26:46and he
26:46just blows
26:46it up
26:46and so
26:47now
26:47it's
26:48third
26:48and long
26:48very good
26:49decision
26:49by Sam
26:50Darnold
26:50there
26:50the big
26:51thing
26:51in this
26:52situation
26:52if you're
26:53Seattle
26:53you have
26:54to watch
26:55your edges
26:55both
26:55Daniil
26:56Hunter
26:56and Will
26:57Anderson
26:57are elite
26:58pass rushers
27:00chip them
27:00use a back
27:01use a tight end
27:02allow time
27:03for Sam
27:04Darnold
27:04to see his
27:05receivers down
27:05the field
27:06so next to Hunter
27:06is Danico Autry
27:07is in there
27:08there you go
27:09that's the key
27:10first action
27:10of the year
27:11that's the key
27:11in this down
27:12and distance
27:12Danico Autry
27:13rushing
27:14that's the three
27:14technique
27:15Darnold
27:17pocket
27:18collapses
27:18being chased
27:19able to escape
27:21and
27:22to be driven
27:23out hard
27:24and slammed
27:24to the ground
27:25and a flag
27:26comes in
27:27a little too much
27:28aggression
27:29on the tackle
27:30and that's going to
27:31spoil
27:31it would have been
27:32a good stop
27:33for this Houston
27:33defense
27:34that was
27:34Azir
27:35Alshahir
27:36who made the play
27:36it sure was
27:37look they got
27:38some real good
27:38pressure up
27:39in the middle
27:39of the pocket
27:40had good coverage
27:41in the back end
27:41forcing Sam
27:42to pull it down
27:43Aziz Alshahir
27:44just at the end
27:45of the play
27:45you see them
27:47talking about it
27:48you see Jaron Reed
27:49in pursuit
27:49doesn't it look like
27:50he kind of
27:51that's good contact
27:52but then just
27:53drives him
27:53into the ground
27:54there
27:54I don't know
27:55if he drives him
27:55but I'll tell you
27:56what the optics are
27:57you gotta pull off
27:58you gotta pull off
28:00you can't leave
28:00any gray area
28:01if you're in the white
28:02like that
28:02Shire were the leaders
28:04of this defense
28:05hyper aggressive
28:06as you said
28:07that's cost
28:08it would have been
28:08fourth down
28:08absolutely
28:09you just gotta
28:10figure out a way
28:10to say look
28:11know where you are
28:12know your surroundings
28:13and get off the field
28:14now you're back out
28:15on the field here again
28:16with a fresh set of downs
28:17D'Amico Rhines
28:21loves this defense
28:22they are fast
28:23they are violent
28:24they are physical
28:25and they're right
28:26on that edge
28:27often
28:27specifically at
28:28linebacker
28:29Henry To'o To'o
28:30and Alshair
28:31they're
28:31lights out
28:32that one
28:34feels like
28:34cross the line
28:36when it comes to
28:36the protection of
28:37quarterback
28:37and the driving
28:39into the ground
28:39Dan Houston
28:41make a play
28:41force a field goal
28:42attempt
28:43they had a chance
28:43there
28:44now they have to
28:45recover from the penalty
28:45you go down two scores
28:47the way the offense
28:48is playing
28:48in this environment
28:49could be trouble
28:49and right for the end zone
28:51and scoring
28:52and dunking
28:53with Jackson Smith
28:54and Jigba
28:55flags down afterward
28:57for the celebration
28:58but
28:59Darnold
29:00strikes
29:01to JSN
29:02this is just elite
29:05you're gonna watch
29:06Cooper Cup
29:07go on an inside post
29:08Petrie's gonna follow
29:09look at Sam Darnold
29:11freeze it at the top
29:12I mean he's gonna have
29:13chaos right there
29:14look at
29:15he is getting
29:15destroyed
29:16and just a trust
29:17throw to JSN
29:18look at JSN
29:19uses his body
29:20just to kind of
29:21float in the air
29:22and make a beautiful
29:23tight window catch
29:24look at that throw
29:25it's a heck of a throw
29:26I'll tell you what
29:27the route is really
29:28what got Derek Stingley Jr
29:29and he almost
29:30recovered on it
29:31but Jackson Smith
29:32and Jigba
29:33is just so good
29:34at the move point
29:35he's just so fluid
29:36you just don't know
29:37what he's doing
29:38Derek Stingley Jr
29:39just settled his feet
29:40for a second
29:41that's all it took
29:41is that a vintage
29:42Jimmy Graham right there
29:43the dunk
29:44that's a six footer
29:45showing some serious
29:46hops
29:47it'll cost him
29:49but he leads the NFL
29:50in receiving yards
29:51third year guy
29:52out of Ohio State
29:54all smiles
29:55he's a stud
29:57yeah he is
29:58he does all
29:59the little things
30:00right not a big ego
30:01not a diva
30:01unselfish blocks
30:03the cool thing about him
30:04is his transition
30:05from being
30:05being a
30:08primarily an inside receiver
30:09to now an X
30:10to see who can win
30:11outside the numbers
30:12it's just been
30:13remarkable
30:14what did Sam
30:16Donald say
30:17it's like watching
30:18somebody on ice skates
30:19after the score
30:20number 11
30:21of the scoring team
30:22that 15 yard penalty
30:24is enforced on the try
30:25will try from the
30:2730 yard line
30:28so it'll be a
30:2940 yard PAT
30:31here
30:31he said it's like
30:33watching someone
30:34on ice skates
30:35it's
30:35you know for
30:36Seattle fans
30:37watching the Mariners
30:38game rounding
30:39second base
30:40is kind of how
30:41he talked about
30:42his route running
30:42and it feels like
30:43that celebration
30:44is a shout out
30:45to a great
30:45great Seattle
30:46tight end
30:47Jimmy Grant
30:48so the PAT
30:51from the 38
30:52they could have
30:53taken it on the
30:53kickoff
30:54but they're going
30:54to push
30:55back
30:56Myers
30:57who's a great
30:58long distance
30:58kicker
30:59and of course

33:13George
33:13well Chris
33:14CJ Stroud
33:15is really
33:15coming to
33:16his own
33:16this season
33:17both naturally
33:18and out of
33:18necessity
33:19Joe Mixon
33:20was considered
33:20this team's
33:21vocal
33:21and emotional
33:22leader
33:23Stroud
33:23said in his
33:24absence
33:24he's really
33:25had to step
33:25up and he's
33:26using his
33:26voice more
33:27than ever
33:27he said
33:28he's a
33:28pretty chill
33:29guy
33:29but when he
33:29takes command
33:30of this
33:30team
33:31it resonates
33:32and boy
33:32do they need
33:33that leadership
33:33from him
33:33if they want
33:34to cut
33:34into this
33:34deficit
33:35guys
33:35in this
33:35environment
33:36and the
33:37foot injury
33:37unclear when
33:38he's going
33:38to return

33:39should not
33:39expect that

33:59you see
34:03this incredible
34:03catch radius
34:04that Nico
34:05Collins has
34:05just carrying
34:06the load
34:07as far as
34:07the wide
34:08receivers are
34:08concerned
34:08that's a
34:09heck of a
34:09grab
34:10he says
34:11Josh
34:11Jobe
34:11I'm going to
34:11take your
34:12arm
34:12the ball
34:12everything
34:13with me
34:13what's the

34:15didn't see
34:15much there
34:16on either
34:16side
34:17fouls by

34:31if you
34:33left
34:33tackle
34:33Ursary
34:34downfield
34:35so that
34:35wipes out
34:36that 18
34:36yard game
34:37yeah
34:37it
34:38it really
34:40has been
34:41a tale
34:41of basically
34:42two seasons
34:42the first three
34:43games versus
34:44the last two
34:44and you see
34:45how much
34:45more comfortable
34:46CJ has become
34:47now I know
34:47people will say
34:48well look
34:49we'll look at
34:49the competition
34:50and keep it
34:50all in context
34:51but the fact
34:51the matter is
34:52he's starting
34:53to settle
34:53into a rhythm
34:54he knows
34:55what his
34:55responsibility
34:56is in this
34:56offense
34:57quite honestly
34:58he's going to put
34:58the ball up in the air
34:59to get this team
35:00back in the game
35:00it's going to fall
35:01on his shoulders
35:02replay first down
35:06Stroud has time
35:08and flips it
35:08incomplete
35:09yeah to be fair
35:10you know the
35:11Titans came in there
35:12Cam Ward's
35:13homecoming game
35:14spoiled in his
35:14shutout
35:15and then Baltimore
35:15was without
35:16everybody
35:16so this is a
35:17much bigger test
35:18and listen
35:19this is CJ Stroud
35:20second offensive
35:21coordinator in two
35:22seasons
35:22and for Nick
35:23Kaley
35:23who is their
35:24play caller
35:24he comes from
35:26the Patriots
35:27he comes from
35:27the Rams
35:28they're trying to
35:29figure out who
35:29they are
35:30identity wise
35:31Lou you remember
35:31two years ago
35:3223 CJ's rookie
35:33year was underneath
35:34the center
35:34it was hard
35:35runners
35:35it was big
35:35play action
35:36ends
35:37it's not really
35:37who they are
35:38right now
35:38I think it's
35:39where he's at
35:39his best
35:40but it's a lot
35:41of this
35:41shock and
35:42catch and
35:42throw
35:42straight back
35:43steps up
35:44climbs the
35:45pocket
35:45and flips
35:45it over the
35:46middle
35:46and drops
35:47Nico Collins
35:48had plenty
35:50of space
35:51lost his focus
35:53and lost the
35:53football
35:53that's a heck
35:54of a job
35:55by CJ Stroud
35:56of navigating
35:56the pocket
35:57and he said
35:57look he's a guy
35:58who's pretty calm
35:59in the pocket
35:59he feels though
36:00he has some of
36:00the best movement
36:01in the pocket
36:02of any quarterback
36:02in the NFL
36:03and there you see it
36:04I mean that's textbook
36:05he can't do any more
36:06than that
36:07he's got to get help
36:08from the people
36:08around him
36:09and I think that's
36:10something you've got to
36:10remember when you look
36:11at CJ Stroud
36:12and maybe his numbers
36:13not being as great
36:14as they were
36:15in his rookie season
36:16the things around him
36:17have changed a lot
36:18too in two years
36:19and he's 10
36:20on third down
36:21to get this drive
36:22going
36:22back pedals
36:28incomplete
36:28broken up
36:30getting a hand
36:31on it
36:31was Mafe
36:32and the Seahawks
36:34get a stop
36:34this is an elite
36:37Mike McDonald
36:37what we call
36:38simulated pressure
36:39bring guys
36:40from one side
36:41and then you're
36:42going to drop guys
36:43from the other side
36:44pressure off the right
36:45drop off the left
36:46CJ Stroud
36:47doesn't see that
36:48dropping defensive end
36:49Mafe
36:49it's an almost
36:50interception
36:51but it's really
36:51attached to
36:52that inefficiency
36:53on first and second
36:54down
36:55Seattle loves to live
36:56in those exotic
36:57pressure situations
36:58Towns and a planet
36:59away
37:00boy though
37:00the drop by Collins
37:01is huge
37:02you just cannot
37:02afford to make mistakes
37:03your offense is struggling
37:05you're playing an elite
37:05defense like this
37:07already down two scores
37:08and a missed opportunity
37:10Horton
37:11has some space
37:13Torrey Horton
37:14coming all the way
37:15across the field
37:16and will finally be
37:17knocked out of bounds
37:18across the 30
37:19ran a long way
37:20pick up 18 yards
37:22on the return
37:22so
37:23this Seattle offense
37:25already up two scores
37:27early second quarter
37:28back to work
37:30Darnold
37:30sharp
37:31as he has been
37:32the first six games
37:33for the most part
37:34it's a really compelling
37:38season in college football
37:39and in the SEC
37:40in particular
37:41continues
37:42with the triple header
37:42Ole Miss
37:43trying to bounce back
37:44from the loss
37:44at Georgia
37:45taking on the Sooners
37:46at noon eastern
37:46Alabama and South Carolina
37:48is the sandwich game
37:49and in prime time
37:50in Baton Rouge
37:51undefeated
37:52third ranked
37:52Texas A&M
37:54pretty good year
37:56for college football
37:56hasn't it Chris
37:57good fun man
37:57I mean it's been incredible
37:59viewership way up
38:00fan interest
38:01parity
38:02has kind of
38:02creeped in
38:03the college football
38:03in a way
38:04like we've never seen
38:05about ten teams
38:06in the SEC
38:07still in contention
38:08yeah there you go
38:09championship game
38:10it's wild
38:10Walker is the back
38:14Seattle tries to
38:16build this
38:17lead
38:18and
38:18really the Houston
38:19defense cannot
38:20cannot
38:21let this momentum
38:23continue
38:24they've got to come up
38:24with a stop here
38:25give this offense a chance
38:27Kamari Lassiter
38:27makes the play
38:28that time
38:29it's been a great
38:30start for Seattle
38:30offensively tonight
38:31we've talked about
38:32this run and run
38:33action marriage
38:34in this offense
38:36underneath
38:36ball fake to the back
38:38your tight end
38:38leaks down the sideline
38:40once again
38:40underneath the center
38:41great action
38:42look at the defense
38:43drive up to the line
38:44of scrimmage
38:44you're replacing
38:45with Cooper Cuffin
38:46just down in the red zone
38:47one two three four five
38:48ball out
38:49it's so difficult
38:50when a quarterback
38:50turns his back to you
38:52it's just natural
38:54for you to want to
38:54follow him
38:55and kind of stay frozen
38:56quarterback turns his back
38:57you've got to get back
38:58play things top down
38:59you see the separation
39:00it causes
39:01between the second
39:01and third level
39:02let's come
39:04Starnall on the move
39:05slings it out
39:06and flags down
39:08the pit
39:08catch was made
39:10by Cuff
39:11who checked the marker
39:12next to this
39:14brought heat
39:15that time
39:1510 yard penalty
39:18and it draws the hold
39:19on Anthony Bradford
39:20the red guard
39:20let me ask you this
39:22is it different
39:23if the quarterback
39:23is underneath the center
39:24when it comes to that
39:25run action
39:26and the gun
39:26and what's the biggest
39:27challenge for like
39:28that second and third
39:29level of the defense
39:30when he is
39:31well in the gun
39:32it's just not
39:33the ball handling
39:34isn't as definitive
39:35like it doesn't really
39:36you don't sell it
39:37it doesn't sell to you
39:38the same way it does
39:39when he's sprinting
39:40off the line of scrimmage
39:41from under center
39:42I remember playing
39:43against John Elway
39:43at the Denver Broncos
39:44he used to absolutely
39:45torch people
39:46when he had Terrell Davis
39:47going for 2,000 yards
39:48it was almost impossible
39:49to defend
39:50I think you're still
39:51stressed out
39:52about trying to defend
39:52I am
39:53that's like 20 something
39:54years ago man
39:54scars
39:55I still have
39:56PTSD this morning
39:58Darnold
39:59second and 21
40:01Smith and Jigba
40:02just almost broke
40:04that he picked up 15
40:05but he wanted more
40:06that time
40:07this is
40:08I love this man
40:09this is exactly
40:10where he's grown the most
40:11look at the top
40:11of his drop
40:121, 2, 3
40:13he's going to sit
40:14nope number 1's not there
40:15then that quick reset
40:16to number 2
40:17that's kind of what
40:18we talked about
40:18with Sam
40:19with that
40:19Ben McAdoo
40:20the clicking
40:21through the progression
40:22just look at how
40:23calm they are
40:23it's 1, 2, 3
40:24number 1's not there
40:26reset to number 2
40:27that's beautiful
40:28that's absolutely
40:29in control
40:30at the quarterback position
40:31Kalen Bullock
40:32made a nice
40:32open field tackle
40:34against the speedy receiver
40:35to prevent a bigger gain
40:36sets up a 3rd and 6
40:38and
40:39it's going to be
40:41a false start
40:42in Seattle
40:43to make this
40:44a more challenging
40:443rd down play
40:45you can just tell
40:46that Sam Darnold
40:47also
40:48number 15
40:49offense
40:505 yard penalty
40:513rd down
40:52using his eyes
40:53yes
40:54pulling defenders
40:55where he wants them
40:56zone right
40:56if you're the Houston Texans
40:58you may think about
40:58going a little bit more
40:59man to man coverage here
41:00because right now
41:01he's kind of got them
41:02on a string a little bit
41:03as you see
41:04defensive coordinator
41:04Matt Burke
41:05look they're still
41:06one of the best defenses
41:07in the NFL
41:08but look they have
41:09the athletes to match up
41:11against this team
41:11man for man
41:12in these obvious
41:13passing situations
41:14may see them go
41:15a little bit more
41:16to it
41:16100 passing yards
41:18already for Darnold
41:19who looks downfield
41:20and laying out
41:22trying to make the play
41:23is the rookie
41:24Horton
41:24just beyond him
41:26two Houston defenders
41:28tracking him
41:29Bullock and
41:29MJ Stewart
41:30it's a nice job
41:32by Bullock
41:32of recovering
41:33kind of getting
41:34on the horse
41:35to kind of track
41:36Horton down
41:36you see Horton
41:37may have a step
41:38at first
41:38that looks like
41:39it's coming open
41:40as you see
41:40the safety
41:41MJ Stewart
41:41caught a little bit
41:42short
41:42just off
41:45of his fingertips
41:46the Seahawks
41:50to punt
41:50Barrios
41:53awaits the boot
41:54from Dixon
41:55at the Houston 15
41:57the stop
41:59that Houston needed
42:00try to
42:00stop the bleeding
42:02stop the momentum
42:02give their offense
42:03a chance
42:04to try to get
42:05something going
42:05Barrios
42:06bobbles it
42:07and
42:08from Miami
42:09Hurricane
42:09is knocked down
42:10at about the 24
42:11Seattle
42:14historically
42:16struggles here
42:17at home
42:17but not so far
42:18tonight
42:19all facets
42:21of the football
42:22team working
42:23they lead by 14
42:24I'll tell you
42:33what
42:34if you ask
42:34folks
42:35trivia question
42:36which franchise
42:36has the best
42:37overall winning
42:39percentage in the
42:39history of
42:40Monday Night Football
42:40Seahawks
42:41fans might know
42:42that
42:42maybe not that
42:43many other fans
42:45would
42:4530 and 13
42:46is the number
42:47one winning
42:48percentage
42:48all time
42:49since the
42:49franchise began
42:50the Monday Night
42:51franchise began
42:52in 1970
42:5321 and 7
42:54here at home
42:55over the years
42:56Pete Carroll
42:56was
42:56almost unbeatable
42:58on Monday Night
42:5810 in a row
42:59at one point
43:00he presided over
43:01some just
43:02absolutely
43:02tremendous
43:03defenses
43:04great to see
43:05Cam and
43:06Earl Thomas
43:07here tonight
43:07and they're
43:08playing like it
43:08so far
43:09early on
43:09what can this
43:11Houston offense
43:11do to get going
43:1213 plays
43:14a total of
43:1416 yards
43:16Stroud
43:16under pressure
43:17and a first down
43:18throw
43:18just no chance
43:19for Jalen Noel
43:20the rookie
43:21here's where I am
43:22there's been one
43:23offense that's
43:24played well
43:24against this defense
43:26Seattle this year
43:27it was Tampa
43:27they came here
43:28they had
43:29Baker Mayfield
43:29underneath the center
43:30they went heavy
43:31play action
43:32on early downs
43:33and I think
43:34with an offensive
43:35line that's struggling
43:36getting in the shotgun
43:37and trying to throw
43:38timing routes
43:39not for me
43:39what's going to be
43:40the best thing
43:41they got to move
43:42the pocket
43:42they got to get
43:43some double teams
43:44up front in their
43:44run game
43:45they have to get
43:46the ball out of
43:46his hands
43:47in the screen game
43:48there has to be
43:49a constant change
43:50of Rolodex
43:51play calling wise
43:52so you keep
43:53this defense
43:53somewhat guessing
43:54pressure comes
43:58Stroud on the
43:59move
44:00and the ball
44:01thrown
44:02it's a live
44:03ball for now
44:04it is scooped
44:05up by Drake
44:06Thomas
44:07and now the
44:09ball is loose
44:09in the end zone
44:10looks like
44:11Braxton Berrios
44:12came back and
44:13recovered it
44:13that was a wild
44:14play
44:14we'll go back
44:15and see if it
44:15was incomplete
44:16or a fumble
44:17at the start
44:18of it
44:18Ernest Jones
44:20got there
44:21and it's going
44:22to be called
44:22a safety
44:23so Berrios
44:24saved the
44:24touchdown
44:25by making
44:25the recovery
44:26usual pressure
44:29from Ernest
44:30Jones
44:30the fourth
44:31who's a
44:32tackling machine
44:32on this defense
44:33you're going to
44:34see Ernest
44:35he's just
44:36sitting here
44:36and he's
44:36really
44:36it looks like
44:38a combo
44:38in the back
44:39he realizes
44:40that he doesn't
44:40have coverage
44:41so he just
44:41really starts
44:42to spy
44:43on CJ
44:43there wasn't
44:51legal shift
44:52Mike Chase
44:53will bring him
44:53in here
44:53Stroud
44:54his arm
44:55was moving
44:55forward Mike
44:56but the ball
44:56kind of slipped
44:57out of his hand
44:57how do you see
44:58this
44:58you know
44:59I think
44:59that ball
44:59went backwards
45:00either way
45:00as it starts
45:01so I think
45:02they're going
45:02to let this
45:03play out
45:03they're taking
45:03a look also
45:04at the defender
45:05right at the
45:05goal line
45:06did he lose
45:07possession there
45:07as he went
45:08into the end zone
45:09so there's a lot
45:09going on
45:10on this play
45:10it was a
45:11backwards pass
45:12even if you
45:12threw it
45:13a pass
45:14so
45:15things getting
45:16worse
45:17for the Texans
45:18Seattle stretches
45:19the lead
45:19to 16
45:20nothing
45:21well first
45:27came the
45:28pressure
45:28then came
45:28the chaos
45:29and then
45:30the confusion
45:31and we're
45:31trying to
45:31sort things
45:32out
45:32Stroud
45:33under heavy
45:34pressure
45:34did lose
45:36the football
45:37so it's
45:37going to be
45:37ruled
45:38a fumble
45:39recovered
45:40by Seattle
45:40but then
45:41fumbled
45:41in the field
45:42of play
45:43let me get
45:44Mike Chase
45:44to explain
45:45all that
45:45but first
45:46the pressure
45:46there's that
45:47backwards pass
45:49it'll be
45:49I mean
45:50it's going
45:50to be scooped
45:51up here
45:51and Drake
45:53Thomas thought
45:53he had a
45:54touchdown
45:54then he
45:55fumbles
45:55the ball
45:55Berrios
45:56eventually
45:56recovers it
45:57Mike
45:57so
45:58so
45:58the defense
45:59actually puts
46:00the ball
46:00in the end zone
46:01recovered by
46:01the offense
46:02but at the
46:03front end of
46:03this we had
46:04a foul
46:05against the
46:05offense
46:06which they'll
46:06now enforce
46:07it is a
46:09fumble
46:09recovered
46:09by the
46:10defense
46:10the
46:10defensive
46:11player
46:11fumbled
46:12prior to
46:12crossing
46:12the goal
46:13line
46:13the
46:14initial
46:15offense
46:16recovered
46:16in the
46:17end zone
46:17for a
46:18touchback
46:18the
46:20illegal
46:20shift
46:21on number
46:2219
46:22will be
46:23enforced
46:23because it
46:25will be a
46:25better option
46:26for the
46:26defense
46:27with offense
46:28having
46:28second down
46:28at 15
46:29thank you
46:30Carl
46:31Sheffert
46:31it's like a
46:32Dostoevsky
46:32first
46:33there
46:33so
46:34we're going
46:35to enforce
46:36the foul
46:36and make
46:37it second
46:37down
46:37go from
46:38the 24
46:38back to
46:39the 19
46:40rather than
46:40give a
46:41double fumble
46:41a penalty
46:42enforced
46:43and Houston
46:43keeps the
46:44ball
46:44absolutely
46:45Seattle had
46:46possession
46:47and fumbles
46:47in the
46:47end zone
46:48I don't think
46:48I've ever
46:48seen that
46:49yeah
46:49I'll tell
46:51you what
46:51we have
46:52seen
46:52that pressure
46:54I mean
46:54that's kind
46:55of what
46:55has haunted
46:56this offense
46:56for the
46:56better part
46:57of a year
46:57and a half
46:58is
46:58you had
46:59three offensive
46:59linemen
47:00blocking
47:00one person
47:01the middle
47:01linebacker
47:02Ernest Jones
47:02completely
47:03unblocked
47:04if Houston's
47:05going to have
47:05a chance
47:06tonight
47:06they're going
47:07to have
47:07to figure
47:07out
47:08who's
47:08blocking
47:08who
47:09and then
47:10get that
47:10job done
47:11much better
47:12than they
47:12have
47:12the first
47:1320 minutes
47:14of this
47:14football game
47:14so after
47:16all that
47:17second
47:17and 15
47:18strong
47:22long
47:22throw
47:23Collins
47:24makes the
47:24catch
47:24hit
47:25immediately
47:25well
47:27heartbreak
47:28for Seattle
47:28baseball fans
47:29it is over
47:30in Toronto
47:31game 7
47:32goes to the
47:33Blue Jays
47:34George Springer's
47:34three run
47:35home run
47:35in the bottom
47:36of the 7th
47:37the decisive
47:38blow
47:39Seattle had
47:39two chances
47:40in Toronto
47:42to finally
47:43get to their
47:43first World Series
47:44and the M's
47:46fans
47:46the agony
47:47continues
47:49but the football
47:49team's good
47:50they're up
47:5114-0
47:51that's tough
47:52it is
47:53as you said
47:56Springer
47:56a proven
47:58postseason hero
47:59does it again
48:00third and twelve
48:02quickly pitched
48:03to Noel
48:04on the sidelines
48:05flag flies
48:06as the rookie
48:07is forced out
48:08short of a first down
48:09I think on top
48:14of it
48:14you're getting
48:14off
48:15it's a holding
48:15on Jaden Higgins
48:16trying to get a block
48:18for his teammate
48:19out on the perimeter
48:19number 81
48:20offense
48:21penalties decline
48:23result of the play
48:24fourth down
48:25you just see
48:28that this
48:28this football team
48:29right now
48:30offensively
48:31yeah
48:31I mean
48:32somebody
48:32look
48:33they're going to need
48:34to start
48:34it all starts up front
48:35we've tried to
48:36chronicle that
48:36already in this
48:37football game
48:37they're going to have
48:38to be more in unison
48:39and when the plays
48:41are there to be made
48:42guys like Nico Collins
48:43have to make
48:43make the plays
48:44for CJ Stroud
48:45otherwise this game
48:45could get out of hand
48:46with the way the Seattle
48:48defense is getting after
48:49I think they're almost
48:50relieved to punt
48:51they could have been
48:52down three scores
48:52that should have been
48:53a fumble return
48:54for a touchdown
48:54all punched out
48:56at the last moment
48:57and after they sorted
48:58it all out
48:58on the bounce
49:02or 10
49:03there's that quickness
49:05he's bumped out of bounds
49:06but Seattle set up
49:08with excellent field
49:08position
49:09on a disappointing
49:10night
49:10for the Mariners
49:11the Seahawks
49:12trying to
49:13make people feel
49:14a little bit better
49:15about things
49:15Mika Ryan's
49:20a strong connection
49:22to the Kubiak family
49:23he's a player
49:25for the Texans
49:25a rookie linebacker
49:26Gary Kubiak
49:28who's the head coach
49:29has a pretty
49:30distinguished staff
49:30Kyle Shanahan
49:31Mike McDaniel
49:32DC
49:34Robert Sala
49:37was a defensive
49:38assistant coach
49:39in his second year
49:39Anthony Weaver
49:42was a defensive end
49:44there
49:44here in Houston
49:46Texans right now
49:47speaking of defense
49:48you've got to find
49:49a way to get your
49:49offense the ball
49:50on the plus side
49:51of the 50
49:51you've got to get
49:52a turnover here
49:53should be a run
49:58Ken Ken
49:59two safeties deep
50:00it is a run
50:03to Walker
50:04and it is
50:05aggressively shut down
50:06penalty marker
50:07on the field
50:08Walker was dropped
50:09for about a four yard
50:10loss
50:11Amari Lasseter
50:12was there
50:12Little Clint
50:15at the practices
50:17I was there
50:18I think a year
50:19after that photo
50:19was taken
50:20with D'Amico
50:21and Coach Kubiak
50:22Little Clint
50:22Clint Kubiak
50:23was often at practices
50:24and D'Amico
50:26has a great experience
50:27with this offense
50:27Clint Kubiak
50:28was the first guy
50:29that Mike McDonald
50:30met with
50:31when he was
50:32interviewing
50:32offensive coordinators
50:33number 97 defense
50:3615 yards
50:37will be enforced
50:38from the previous spot
50:39automatic
50:40first down
50:41when he was
50:43interviewing
50:43offensive coordinators
50:44this offseason
50:44and understanding
50:46training the right way
50:47and you know
50:48how his father
50:48kind of
50:49really taught him
50:50how the art
50:51of play calling
50:52and the growth
50:53as a whole
50:53as a play caller
50:54and you know
50:55D'Amico knows
50:56how hard
50:57and dynamic
50:57this offense
50:58is to defend
50:59schematically
51:00when you get in
51:00a really good rhythm
51:02as a play caller
51:02and Clint Kubiak
51:03has been that way
51:04so far this year
51:05Ryan's frustrated
51:06there's a 15 yard penalty
51:07on Mario Edwards
51:09moves the ball
51:09into Houston territory
51:11fresh set
51:12for the Seahawks
51:13and trying to get
51:14Walker going
51:15hasn't been a
51:16super productive
51:17birthday so far
51:19Tokiem made the stop
51:21you talk about
51:21D'Amico Ryan's
51:22being frustrated
51:23I mean they are
51:23right now
51:24they're starting to settle
51:25into a little bit
51:25of a groove here
51:26as far as defending
51:27this run game
51:28and every time
51:29they create a negative
51:29play
51:30there's something
51:30just goes wrong
51:31when they get
51:31some positivity
51:32going
51:33they have 12
51:36more penalty yards
51:37than total
51:38offensive yards
51:39so far tonight
51:3936 to 24
51:41it's not the ratio
51:45you want
51:45another short run
51:47for Walker
51:48you can still see
51:51you can see the fury
51:52with which they're
51:53playing on the
51:53defensive side
51:54of the football
51:54I mean this third
51:55down here is critical
51:56field position
51:56in every single
51:58score matters
51:59I mean they have to
52:00I mean they have to
52:01basically pitch a
52:01shut out here
52:02until they can get
52:03some points on the
52:03board
52:04you go down three
52:05scores against this
52:05defense the way
52:06it's playing
52:07here at home
52:08I still know if you
52:09can recover from
52:10that
52:11against these
52:12defenses
52:13neither side has
52:13converted a third
52:14down yet
52:15both are 0 for 4
52:16Darnold
52:17delivers a throw
52:18to the sidelines
52:19and there is the
52:20first third down
52:21conversion
52:22Jackson Smith
52:23and Jigba
52:23found some room
52:24there picked up
52:2519
52:25this is really good
52:27look how quickly
52:29they break the
52:30huddle
52:30sprint to the line
52:31scrimmage and how
52:32fast this ball
52:33gets snapped
52:33one Mississippi
52:34two Mississippi
52:35center puts his
52:36hands on the ball
52:37and that gets
52:37snapped quickly
52:38you're trying to
52:38beat any type of
52:39pass rush or
52:40pressure
52:40and it forces
52:41the defense to
52:42communicate in a
52:43little bit of a
52:43bunch in a stack
52:44helps that release
52:45for JSN
52:46if you're
52:46Derek Stingley Jr
52:48you're playing
52:48middle field
52:49closed coverage
52:50you have a safety
52:51in the middle
52:51you can't get beat
52:52on the seven rounds
52:53talked about that
52:55elite matchup
52:55corner and
52:56running back
52:57as Kup takes
52:57the handoff
52:58looks to throw
52:59and it's intercepted
53:00the overshot
53:01Jackson Smith and
53:02Jigga
53:02and Kalen Bullock
53:04makes the pick
53:05that's the play
53:05Houston needed
53:07to try to get a
53:07spark here
53:08and stop the
53:09bleeding
53:09it absolutely is
53:10and sometimes you
53:11wonder
53:11sometimes offensive
53:12coordinators
53:12they get a little
53:13tricky
53:13when they don't
53:14really need to
53:15and they try to
53:16go deep in the
53:17bag here
53:17and Kalen Bullock
53:19is in the
53:19perfect spot
53:20to make a
53:22huge
53:22huge play
53:23so the trickery
53:25backfires
53:26as the receiver
53:27misses the star
53:29receiver badly
53:30and Bullock
53:32the first
53:33take away
53:33tonight
53:34Dexans take over
53:36needing desperately
53:37to get this
53:38offense going
53:38excited like
53:43many of you
53:44that the NBA
53:44returns tomorrow

53:51hopes are high
53:52for the
53:52New York fans
53:54this season
53:54930 Spurs
53:55and Mavericks

53:58season NBA game
53:59at home

54:01NBA tip-off
54:04Ernie
54:05Kenny

54:07Eastern
54:07welcome to
54:08ESPN guys
54:09well the
54:13take away
54:13prevents the
54:15Seattle scoring
54:15opportunity
54:16and gives the
54:17football back to
54:17Stroud
54:18who's feeling
54:18pressure
54:19and flips it
54:20short to
54:20Chubb on the
54:21screen
54:21and that
54:22doesn't work
54:22as they go
54:23backwards
54:23Byron Murphy
54:25the nose tackle
54:26got him 5 yards
54:27behind the line
54:28Lewis
54:28I mean it's just
54:30it's just a great
54:31great play
54:31by Byron Murphy
54:32I mean he reached
54:32the screen
54:33immediately
54:33looked like
54:34that was going
54:34to be a play
54:35action shot
54:35just going
54:38backwards
54:38that's 19
54:42your hearts
54:42now on
54:42there 17
54:43plays
54:43finally got
54:44the quarterback
54:45under center
54:45but then
54:46you throw a
54:46screen
54:47it's just
54:47they gotta
54:48get some
54:49positive yardage
54:50some chunk
54:51plays going
54:51down the field
54:52so the expression
54:54of Nick Caley
54:55nothing's worked
54:56tonight
54:57on the slant
54:58that works
54:58fighting out
