22:03This is the All-State Halftime.
22:11Welcome to the All-State Halftime here in Detroit.
22:14A huge turnover and three points from a Tampa Bay offense that had not crossed midfield prior to that.

22:27Tampa Bay gets their receivers back and Detroit's secondary is decimated.
22:31How well has this Lions group played?
22:33They've been absolutely phenomenal, not only stopping or keeping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from making big plays,
22:38but making big plays of their own.
22:40As you just look at late in that quarter, we see a huge play by Meek Robinson punching the football out from Sterling Shepard.
22:48And then Arthur Millett makes a phenomenal interception on a Kate Otten play where Kate Otten has it in one hand.
22:55He goes up and he takes it from him.
22:56They actually gave Jared Goff and his offense opportunities to score late.
23:01It was the Jamel Dean play that led to a field goal.
23:04Tampa Bay has to be excited that they're even close in this game.
23:08A blitz backs them up and then a pick leads to the field goal.
23:11Meanwhile, this Detroit offense, Jason, they go out and take it down the field in three minutes and score.
23:15Boom.
23:15And then they can take it 76 yards on one carry from Gibbs.
23:18He's already the leading rusher in the NFL at halftime.
23:21What do you do against that offense?
23:23Well, they can do anything they want.
23:24They can throw it.
23:25They can do all the play actions and the dynamic playmaking ability of their guys.
23:28A running back between Montgomery and Gibbs is phenomenal.
23:30This run right here is just a straight inside zone run.
23:32Great inter by Raymond, the receiver.
23:34But Gibbs hits this.
23:36He hits 22 miles an hour.
23:37That's the fastest rushing touchdown in three years in the NFL.
23:41He was flying.
23:42And that's the big playability these guys have for Detroit.
23:45They have 275 yards.
23:46It's crazy that they only have 14 points to show for it.
23:49But, yeah, I mean, Tampa Bay's got to get something going offensively.
23:52A couple of turnovers.
23:53They went for it on a fourth and two and took a shot to the end zone.
23:57Didn't get anything out of it.
23:58So, Tampa Bay's hanging around.
23:59If you're a bulls in this group at halftime, how critical, R.C., is it to get points to start the second half?
24:05Listen, it's the most critical drive of the game for Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
24:08It was huge to get those three points.
24:11And now, if you can double up and get a touchdown or even a field goal to get some sort of momentum,
24:16it's going to be big for this team going forward because the defense is actually playing pretty well.
24:20Absolutely.
24:21And Todd hit the nail on the head.
24:22They've got to be successful on first down.
24:23Baker right now looks uncomfortable.
24:25They're doing a great job of mixing up pressures as well as these max zone coverages.
24:30I think that if they can get success on first down, success on second down, start to develop a rhythm,
24:35he'll play much better.
24:36Haven't seen much from Bucca in this game.
24:38Wonder what's going on with him.
24:39And now Mike Evans out at will.
24:41The only upside for Tampa Bay is they've lived in that space for the end of last week,
24:45and they figured it out in the second half.
24:47We'll see if they can do that again here tonight.
24:50They're going to need to make something happen in the second half.
24:52The second half of our doubleheader, Sam Donald, been looking excellent in Seattle.
24:57The 12s trying to do their part on a big night for sports in Seattle.
25:01They've actually not lost on the road.
25:02Got to defend home field, but the Texans, after a sluggish 0-3 start,
25:07look to become one of only a handful of teams ever to win the next three games they've played
25:12to even their record at 3-3.

25:58As we get set for the start of the second half here in Detroit, Buccaneers about to get
26:04the ball in a 14-3 game.
26:07Points right before the half by Tampa Bay after the interception by Jamel Dean, Joe Buck,
26:12Tori Aikman.
26:13And, I mean, offensively, what's Tampa Bay's got?
26:1658 total yards in this game.
26:18That has got to get better right now.
26:20Well, it does, but at least they gained a little momentum going in at half, coming away
26:24with the field goal, and to get the ball here in the second half.
26:27We know from watching Baker Mayfield in Tampa this season, don't let them hang around.
26:32And it's got to be frustrating for Detroit as much as they dominated the game there in
26:37that first half not to have a bigger lead.
26:38Yeah, each side with a couple of giveaways in that first half.
26:44We will hear from Dan Campbell after the kick.
26:47And it will be Bates who missed a field goal try in that first half of 53 yards, and then
27:00Chase McLaughlin hit from 53.
27:04And it's 14-3.
27:07A little pop-up kick.

27:10He is knocked down after crossing the 30.
27:18Let's check in with Lisa Salters.
27:19A moment ago, she caught up with Dan Campbell.
27:22Dan, so much was said about the guys you didn't have in your secondary tonight.
27:26What do you think about the effort you've seen from the guys who off-up?
27:28Well, they're playing their tails off right now.
27:31I mean, those guys are getting in there.
27:32They're doing exactly what we said.
27:33Just get in there and challenge.
27:35Ben, get where you're supposed to be.
27:37Use your help and let those guys in front of you just raise a little hell, and they're
27:41doing that right now.
27:42With the way Baker Mayfield has been playing this season, no lead is safe.
27:45So what do you want to see from your offense when you get the ball back?
27:48Listen, we just got to convert on a third down.
27:51That's it.
27:52That will stay out of third down, because that's when we're having success.
27:55We just get our first conversion on third down.
27:58We'll move it up and down the field.
27:59But look, that's a good defense, and we're close.

28:04Jason, just to put numbers to it, through that first half, each side was one for six on third
28:10down.
28:12So that's a problem for Dan Campbell's offense, and right now it's Tampa Bay facing second
28:16and seven.
28:17They're leading receiver, just one catch so far tonight on second and seven play action.
28:37Baker, there he is, a breakout with a big gain as he takes it into Detroit territory.
28:43Good for 18 yards with Rakia scene across from him.
28:47Yeah, hadn't really gotten him involved, but it's good that he's back, because he was questionable
28:52coming into this game.
28:53But you see the route, how he pushes up the field, and he gives a little nod as though
28:57he might just go the other direction.
28:59But that little move that he makes at the top of the route is what creates the separation
29:04and allows Baker to find him.
29:08The focus seems to be wired to be a great player in this league.
29:12I agree.
29:14Only the second snap in Lions territory, and it's a nice pickup by Rashad White.
29:19He was the top back in 23.
29:22Bucky Irving missing his third straight game with a foot injury, a shoulder injury.
29:27There's a Bucca.
29:28He is just flat out blown away.
29:31The Bucs front office, their coaching staff, his teammates, with the way he has gone about
29:38becoming an NFL receiver.
29:40They always talk about quarterbacks coming in and trying to play as a rookie.
29:44I think the next hardest position is wide receiver.
29:46I saw a lot of guys come in, talented guys, that were young, and it usually takes a little
29:52bit of time.
29:53And then you find a guy like him or like a Justin Jefferson.
29:56They're wired differently.
29:57They've been trained differently.
29:59We know he has at Ohio State.
30:00Baker has time.
30:01There's a Bucca.
30:04Incomplete.
30:06Bucca was open, and it hit Amik Robertson right in the back.
30:11And he was back there deep with Thomas Harper.
30:14Yeah, I mean, he's so open.
30:15And Baker, he gives a little move, and then he hesitates right after that move by a Bucca.
30:20And he's just not able to get enough on him, because you want to try to lead him out to the left
30:26boundary to keep him away from the safety.
30:29But that ball obviously wasn't even close.
30:31Look at a Bucca keeping his arms down, but not let Robertson know the ball is on its way, but incomplete.
30:39Here's Shepard, first down, Tampa Bay.
30:41A third down conversion, a gain of four, as he worked against Arthur Mallette, who's played in this league with the Saints and the Ravens, playing in the slot now for the injured Devontae Maddox.
30:53Well, that's a start, because just like what we heard from Dan Campbell when he talked to Lisa Salter, they got to get a first down.
31:02Neither team, you mentioned it, Joe, had been good on third down.
31:06Same for Tampa Bay.
31:07Now you've got a new set of downs.
31:09Now see if they can go do something with it.
31:14Shot late.
31:17He got a yard and a half.
31:19That's it.
31:20The ball came out.
31:23We'll take a look.
31:24Right now, they're saying Tampa Bay's ball that the shot was done.
31:29The running on the field is the running forward progress was stopped.
31:31Well, they're going to call forward progress.
31:33As Barnes made the hit, then eventually ripped it out, O'Connor throws a punch in there, too.
31:42I mean, looking for that.
31:45Get arrested for some of that action.
31:47That'll be a false start on heck.
31:50And to add to that point, once they rule forward progress.

32:00It can only be a fumble if the ball comes out on initial contact in the field.
32:03The ball was ripped out after that.
32:05So, once they call forward progress, they cannot make it a fumble.
32:10Barnes, you see, he's ripping it out.
32:12And then O'Connor, he comes and starts giving him the business.
32:15Trying to get it out.
32:16Get it out of the business.
32:19There's a lot of viewers that don't know what that reference is.
32:22Yeah, but I still laugh.

32:27What the heck's going on out there?
32:30It's another one to catch him.
32:32This ball is batted down by Derek Barnes.
32:37He's got a couple in this game.
32:39Yeah, that was a good save by Barnes because they've got Tess Johnson out in the flat.
32:44And he's got some speed.
32:46You see, Tess, he's going to come out here.
32:48But here comes Barnes, and he's the one who knocks it down.
32:51But if Baker's able to complete this pass, he's got the ball out on the edge
32:56with a lot of space between here and the corners.
33:00Barnes has been a guy who talked to Kelvin Shepard.
33:02He said when he got named the defensive coordinator, he told the front office,
33:06Derek Barnes is the guy that I have to have on this defense.
33:10He's that important to what they do.
33:15Third down and 14.
33:16Mayfield steps into it.
33:18Tess Johnson is going to be close but short of first down yardage.
33:23And this will be a decision for Todd Bowles.
33:26It's fourth down.
33:28It's going to be fourth and short.
33:30And the offense will stay out there as they get a couple of extra tight ends
33:37and an alignment in the huddle for Tampa Bay.
33:40Well, we'll see what Josh Grizzard has dialed up because that was a great job by Tess Johnson.
33:46I mean, a young receiver catches the football, immediately gets up the field
33:50to at least give Todd Bowles a decision to make.
33:54Dan Feeney in the backfield, handoff for the first down.
34:00Michael Jordan with a good block, and they brought in some big bodies
34:05and just said, Rashad White, we need it, go get it, and he got three.
34:09Yeah, and that's something we've really not talked a lot about,
34:13the fact that Bucky Irving is not playing again tonight.
34:17He's now missed the last three games, but Rashad White, he was the bell cow back in 2023,
34:22and so not every back can carry the load, but he is a guy who has done it,
34:27and he's done a good job here tonight running tough.
34:30So, first down, play action, Mayfield is looking for the end zone,
34:36he gets Tucker out of backfield, and Sean Tucker with a short gain as Jack Campbell,
34:41who's been playing better and better every week, and is becoming a star in this league,
34:46makes the stop after a gain of two.
34:48Well, good job by Baker, just, they didn't have it down the field, you mentioned it, Joe,
34:52they were looking for maybe a home run, but just check it down and stay ahead of the chains,
34:55because it's, you know, minimal gain, but just don't have any negative plays.
35:00This is, this is the most promising drive that Tampa Bay has had tonight.
35:0550 yards on this drive, 11th play, their best drive of the night.
35:13Now they bring in Sean Tucker in the backfield, he's got a lot of speed, too.
35:18Second and eight, Tez Johnson, he's got plenty of speed, gets a block,
35:23and the cops toward the end zone, spinning touchdown.
35:34Just a fantastic run after the catch by the rookie, Tez Johnson,
35:39a seventh-round pick, back-to-back games with a touchdown.
35:42And Charlie Heck, the right tackle, he makes an outstanding block,
35:46and then you get help from Ryan Miller at wide receiver.
35:48Here's a look at Heck, the right tackle, I mean, he just takes his man right out of the frame.
35:54They set it up perfectly.
35:56Graham Barton, he's out there as well, but at the end of this play,
35:59number 81, Ryan Miller, he makes the key block that allows Tez to cut back inside to score.
36:05And Tampa Bay's going to go for two.
36:09Conversion obviously makes it a three-point game.
36:14And they spread him out.
36:18Shepard in motion, Baker looking left, over the middle, broken up!
36:30And what a play by Nick Whiteside.
36:33Yet another guy.
36:37A first-year player is Nick Whiteside, a free agent added this year.
36:42He's been on the 53-man roster since the Kansas City game,
36:48and what a play to knock it away from Cade Otten.
36:53And keep this a five-point game.
36:55Touchdown, Tez Johnson.
36:57One-score affair in Detroit.
36:59Here's a look at that last play, and they're trying to get the ball to Sterling Shepard on a slant route,
37:12but the secondary, they play this perfectly.
37:14They got two guys coming underneath that it gets Baker off of it,
37:18and then, of course, Nick Whiteside.
37:19But here's a look at what Baker sees.
37:21As he's trying to work it over to Sterling Shepard, not there, comes underneath,
37:25and Whiteside, who hasn't played a lot of defense in his career, comes up big.
37:30I mean, it's remarkable the job that these guys have done in the secondary
37:35in handling that offensive set by Tampa Bay was impressive to keep this a five-point game.
37:43How about more on Tez Johnson?
37:45What a great story, Laura.
37:47Just incredible.
37:48When Johnson was 15 years old, his birth mother, Shamika Posey,
37:52made the difficult decision to let him go.
37:54He had grown up in subsidized housing.
37:56She wanted a safer space for him.
37:57And you see there, Patrick Nix, his head football coach at Penston Valley High School
38:02in Penston, Alabama, who is Bo Nix's dad, took him in to their family.
38:06There's Bo Nix getting drafted, and who's to his right?
38:09Tez Johnson.
38:10They were big Oregon fans.
38:11They ended up at Oregon together.
38:13An incredible story of family.
38:14He's still in touch with his biological mom.
38:17Yeah, so much so, Laura, that after he got that touchdown last week,
38:20as Gibbs has a nice run to start this drive,
38:23he couldn't wait to call his mom, Shamika, and get her thoughts on it.
38:28It's just a great story.
38:30And Patrick and Kristen Nix, the job they did opening their home to Tez Johnson.
38:36It's a remarkable story.
38:38And then both Tez, as Laura said, and Bo Nix, who we can get into here in a second,
38:45end up at Oregon as teammates.
38:46It takes a village, and, you know, what an impressive young man he is.
38:50And he has shown up big for the last few weeks now.
38:53Doc Capes, he's able to complete.
38:56And that is the first time that Laporte has had a catch in this game.
39:01How about what happened with Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos?
39:06They trailed 19 to nothing entering the fourth quarter late yesterday.
39:10They scored 33 points in the fourth quarter to win the ball game.
39:14And it's the most points scored by a team that had been shut out
39:18over the first three quarters to win the game.
39:21They went at 33-32.
39:23Heartbreaking loss for Jackson Dart and the Giants,
39:26but a thrilling win for Bo Nix, Sean Payton, and the Broncos.
39:30Yeah, the Giants, they've had a few of those this year that are fact-breakers.
39:35Here is a catch by the other tight end, Brock Wright, his third of the game.
39:40And he's got a first down for Detroit.
39:42Well, they get somebody else involved.
39:45As much production as Detroit had there in that first half,
39:50again, almost 300 yards of offense.
39:52It really was Jameer Gibbs and Amon Ross St. Brown.
39:55I mean, there wasn't a whole lot of other people
39:58really getting all that involved in the action.
40:01But they got the ball to Brock Wright on that play.
40:04And I sensed that Detroit, you know, it's a nine-point swing
40:08from the end of the first half, the field goal, and then the touchdown.
40:11He's starting to sense emergency.
40:13Here goes Gibbs into the secondary.
40:16And on first and 10, is able to carry for 15.
40:19He's 15 yards downfield before anybody kind of gets near him.
40:28Watch the hole that opens up and the vision that he has.
40:32I mean, the lane right through there.
40:34Look at all this space.
40:35I mean, I thought he was going to be gone because now he's just one-on-one.
40:39But that's a good job by Tampa.
40:40Those guys on the back and not up front, but in the back end.
40:44And the last line of defense just has to get the ball carrier on the ground.
40:49He's got 181 yards from scrimmage.
40:52Gibbs, they look for more.
40:55He broke a tackle in the backfield in a short game this time.
40:58The first guy through was Logan Hall.
41:01He couldn't bring him down, but a gain of three.
41:03Well, you stick with it, you know, and keep running the football.
41:05And then in the second half, it starts to pay off a little bit.
41:08And we've seen, you know, Jameer Gibbs break the long one in the first half
41:12and just keep wearing him out with it.
41:14He has outgained the Buccaneers, 184 yards to 130 in what is a five-point game.
41:24That's the rush yards in this ball game, and Gibbs just keeps piling them up.
41:34On second and seven.
41:37Spinning grab by Gibbs, and he's got room.
41:39He's got blocking.
41:41Cuts back.
41:42Down at the five.
41:43Tackled by Winfield.
41:48I know everybody's going to talk about Gibbs and getting the ball and running,
41:51but I've got to be honest.
41:53Panay Sewell, the right tackle.
41:55Look at the athleticism of this guy.
41:57I mean, he's out front, and he's not able to make the key block to turn him loose
42:02and let him into the end zone.
42:03Winfield, he just kind of tuckered out by then.
42:07But talk about an offensive lineman out there running in stride with a bag like Gibbs.
42:12Here we go.
42:14First and goal from the five.
42:16Why not?
42:17Gibbs again.
42:18Spinning touchdown.
42:19And he just feel like Gibbs in this offensive line said, we'll take care of this.
42:43Well, Dan Campbell said to Lisa Salters, either we've got to convert on third down or not get
42:48to third down, because otherwise we're going to go up and down the field.
42:51They had one third down, third and two.
42:53They converted it.
42:54He was the only one of the drive, and they made it look pretty easy.
42:58I don't think anybody's going to be asking Johnny Morton why David Montgomery didn't get more
43:02touches tonight.
43:05Extra point is not through by Jake Bates.
43:11And Jameer Gibbs had 56 yards on that drive.
43:16And Panay Sewell, I think this guy's an athlete, 6'5", 3'35", he can run.
43:26Why not run behind his side?
43:29Lions had their lead up 21-9.
43:38Look at Jameer Gibbs coming up to Panay Sewell and his offensive lineman.
43:43And this guy's been just sensational tonight.
43:46And that offensive line, especially the right side, has been opening up big holes for number zero.
43:52That offensive line is his foot on a clinic tonight, and their offensive line coach, Tate Braley,
43:58we've known him a long time.
44:00He's done a great job with that group.
44:03Here's Cam Johnson.
