Surrey Salon 'smashes stigma' and wins national award

A five star rated home salon enveloped in serene countryside has won Professional Home Salon of the year, at the Pro Hair 2025 awards. The salon is located just south of the Surrey Hills, and clients say leaves them feeling “refreshed” and “amazing”.  Cally Borg’s independent home salon has gone from strength to strength since opening in 2023 in a formerly dilapidated barn, overlooking horsefields and woodlands. The salon, located in Cally’s home, offers customers a break from the everyday hustle and bustle.

00:07With a tranquil setting in leafy Surrey and luxury products,

00:11it's not surprising my salon has become a renowned name in the area.

00:15Surrounded by nature, overlooking gorgeous horse fields,

00:19as soon as a client reaches the salon, they'll be feeling relaxed.

00:23I use sustainable products abundant in rich minerals for maximum shine and hair health.

00:29My salon has caught the eye of several journalists

00:32and I'm delighted to say that we've recently been featured in Surrey Live and The Sun

00:36for our unique way of work and company ethos.

00:40While my salon has grown to be an iconic destination,

00:43it truly is the staff at the heart of the story.

00:46We have a supportive network and prioritise learning and creating success.

00:51Most recently, we hosted Visionary Kyle Wilson for a training day.

00:55I taught my staff and I valuable skills and progressive methods,

00:59which we all really enjoyed.

01:01It took several knockbacks for me to get where I am in my career today.

01:05It's not been easy, but I remain determined to create a legacy that will inspire others.

01:10And my mission is to break down the stigma attached to home salons.

01:14And this mission started for me in 2018 when I first opened my home salon.

01:19My home salon gave me the opportunity to have flexibility and freedom

01:23around my childcare commitments.

01:25And since then, I've been a huge home salon advocate,

01:29flying the flag and raising awareness for this lucrative business opportunity.

01:33As my client base grew, I grew with it.

01:36And I continued to keep it in a home salon model.

01:39So now, I employ four other hairstylists who work with me,

01:43as well as an assistant.

01:44We all do the four-day work week,

01:46and none of us work evenings or weekends.

01:48The home salon truly can give you the lifestyle business.

01:53And I am so grateful to see home salons being given their very own award opportunity.
