00:00 My name is Sarah Barnatt and I am an Artistic Director here at MMO Matleys Hair and Beauty.
00:05 I've been here for two years and I do a bit of everything, so the colouring, the cutting,
00:11 I also train some of the youngsters that we've got, we've got a new apprentice and so we're
00:15 kind of training her up within Salon.
00:18 So yeah, I'm kind of an all-rounder really.
00:20 This is our, I believe it's third year, entering the Salon Awards.
00:24 The first year for me to enter, won for myself.
00:28 Previously we'd worked as a team to enter the Awards as a Salon and we saw on the list
00:33 of the categories, Stylist of the Year, and it was actually Emma, my boss, who said, "Sarah,
00:38 you should go try out, try and go for it."
00:40 So a little bit of encouragement, I entered thinking, a bit of on a whim, thinking it
00:46 would just, "Oh no, you know, it won't be me, but I'll give it a shot.
00:49 We're going to be, you know, going for others anyway."
00:52 And that's kind of how it happened, so it wasn't really kind of, it was more my boss
00:55 and the team that kind of pushed me to do it.
00:57 So it's the first time I've ever done anything like that.
00:59 It was quite incredible actually.
01:01 It was really good.
01:02 The trip up there, going to London as a team, it's always nice as a kind of work event.
01:05 It's really good social, outside of work, to get together with all the girls.
01:09 And we're such a sort of, we're a bigger team now, so it was kind of nice to kind of all
01:13 together go out, with the beautician as well, everyone went.
01:16 Yeah, and my category was the first to be called out, out of the ones we had got into
01:21 the finals for.
01:22 And I think also for each region, they kind of call out the names, they reel them off
01:27 one by one, and obviously Sussex being the last one.
01:30 So every time it was kind of...
01:32 But it was felt amazing.
01:33 I was quite shocked actually.
01:34 There's a video of me, one of the girls got a video of me when they first announced it,
01:37 and I was, yeah, I was a bit like, a bit overwhelmed really.
