00:00:24Danny Murphy and Joe Hart are here with us and we start at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Everton taking on Crystal Palace, the only unbeaten team left in the Premier League, currently on the longest stretch of games without defeat in their 120-year history. Simon Brotherton is your commentator.

00:00:40It's two weeks short of six months since Crystal Palace last lost a match, but this is the first of what is to become quite a regular Thursday-Sunday post-European adventure routine. Everton, for their part, remain unbeaten in their new stadium.

00:00:56Tyler Dibling makes his first Premier League start since moving to Merseyside from Southampton during the summer.

00:01:03And Chiano Barry also plays, as Everton make two changes, with Kiernan Dewsbury Hall suspended and Beto dropped to the bench.

00:09:03So, playing very well, creating chances and just we were not deficient enough.

00:09:09And also, it's not to blame anybody.

00:09:11This can happen.

00:09:12And then we made one mistake.

00:09:14So, we don't make many mistakes in our defense.

00:09:16We made one, they got a penalty and then it was an open game.

00:09:19And then it was who gets the lucky punch and takes it.

00:09:22And then today it was Everton.

00:09:24And it's worth to accept it.

00:09:25It could have been three down, you know.

00:09:27We hung in.

00:09:27We kept defending it even though we weren't great.

00:09:30But we played much better in the second half.

00:09:32And we were worthy of maybe getting it.

00:09:35But not, if you look at it, as I said, they could have had a couple of goals.

00:09:39It was good, man.

00:09:41You know, just nice to score late on.

00:09:43And, yeah, to score my first goal, you know, here.

00:09:46To do it here was incredible.

00:09:49You're enjoying yourself, aren't you?

00:09:50Yeah, no, I'm loving it, honestly.

00:09:54Just breaking up and going to training every day with these guys is a great feeling.

00:09:59And, yeah, to have that love back and the smile on my face, I think you will see him when I scored.

00:10:05We will talk about Jack Grealish.

00:10:07As he said, it was a brilliant, particularly second half performance.

00:10:10But the difference, and we should also point out how good Crystal Palace were in the first half of this game.

00:10:16But the difference between Everton from the first half to the second half was so marked by pretty much every measure.

00:10:22They weren't just improved.

00:10:24They were massively improved.

00:10:25So, what do you think the difference was?

00:10:28What changed, Joe?

00:10:30Mindset, personnel.

00:10:31I think Palace, credit to them.

00:10:32Danny, they were excellent, weren't they, in the first half?

00:10:34Really good.

00:10:34They had so much energy.

00:10:36They just looked a little bit tired from their, you know, midweek excursions.

00:10:39And Everton, as David Moyes say, they hung in there and then their quality shone through in the end.

00:10:44It was such a good second half performance from Everton.

00:10:47But what did they need to fix from the first?

00:10:50Well, I think it was the changes.

00:10:51You know, he made the call.

00:10:52He took Beto out of the team for a Monday night.

00:10:54He looked like he had a difficult game.

00:10:56Barry starting up front, just not quite the presence that David Moyes was looking for.

00:11:00Like we say, Crystal Palace were excellent in the first half.

00:11:03Excellent.

00:11:04And they've got very few chances.

00:11:06Barry trying to link up there, just couldn't really give an option.

00:11:09Ended up hiding behind Palace's back three.

00:11:11This was one of his opportunities in the first half where he managed to get through one-on-one.

00:11:16But a fresh gay here in the first half.

00:11:18Just look like they had this situation under control.

00:11:20Barry didn't really stand a chance.

00:11:21And fair play to David Moyes.

00:11:23You know, he took him out of the team.

00:11:24He's realised at half-time, I need Beto in my team.

00:11:27I need him pushing, making as much problems as he possibly can.

00:11:30Early on, Pickford's got the option.

00:11:32He sees Beto.

00:11:33We all know Pickford's capable of getting that in over the top.

00:11:36He doesn't take it.

00:11:37But with him stretching the defence, that just brings that main man into the game, Jack Grealish.

00:11:41A little bit at a time.

00:11:42Beto making that second run, just making it difficult.

00:11:45Look, of course, that's a ball to no-one.

00:11:46They want Beto in the middle right there.

00:11:47But it was just encouraging signs.

00:11:50Grealish is quoted.

00:11:52He thought Watten was excellent.

00:11:53He thought he was absolutely running the show.

00:11:55This is a senior pro saying, look, young man, as good as you are, I'm not going to let you settle.

00:12:00And that's Jack Grealish at his best.

00:12:05This was late on in the second half.

00:12:07First opportunity.

00:12:08Dean Henderson making an excellent save.

00:12:10In Boonham, he came on.

00:12:12Michael Keane struggling.

00:12:14And they decided to make a positive move.

00:12:16It was really important they got back into the game.

00:12:18But it's more runs off the front man.

00:12:20Beto posting it up, making it difficult.

00:12:22A tired challenge.

00:12:24Absolute bonus, that is, for Everton.

00:12:25They couldn't believe their luck, having survived two early chances in that second half.

00:12:30Here we see Beto again.

00:12:31And they've gone.

00:12:32This stadium went from being ready to go.

00:12:34Palace had two really good opportunities at 1-0.

00:12:36And this is just winning the corner at 1-0.

00:12:39Revving it up.

00:12:39This is what you want to be in a 50-odd thousand-seat stadium.

00:12:42That's how you want to feel.

00:12:44Jack Grealish, like I said to you before, he just built into the game.

00:12:48And as they got more tired, Munoz, you don't see this happening.

00:12:51This is a man who's absolutely shattered.

00:12:53He's had a tough week.

00:12:54Grealish saying, get off, creating more chances.

00:12:57And the pressure started to build.

00:13:00And Di linking with Alcatraz as he goes over the top.

00:13:07But how can you begrudge this man?

00:13:10Finishing a tough week, no doubt about it.

00:13:13So pleased for him.

00:13:15I realised that one.

00:13:18Do you know what?

00:13:19Oh, God.

00:13:20When you're struggling a bit, you need your best players to get on the ball and be brave.

00:13:24And he is a top player.

00:13:25And you can see the difference in the second half.

00:13:28So many more touches in the dangerous areas of the pitch.

00:13:30He was strong.

00:13:31He was fit.

00:13:32He looks happy.

00:13:34He's playing with a strut that we've seen him play with before.

00:13:36And what happens is that's infectious to those around him.

00:13:39I mean, I've got to give him the eye a mention as well.

00:13:40He's terrific.

00:13:42But Jack Grealish playing at this level will catch the eye of the England manager at some point.

00:13:47I know he's probably waited to see if he can keep the levels up.

00:13:50But when he's looking as strong as he is now and as brave as he is on the ball,

00:13:54then it's pretty inevitable, really.

00:13:56And when his numbers are pretty much where they were last season off 20 games,

00:14:00and he's only played seven now,

00:14:01as Danny said, six games in and maybe Thomas Tuchel is thinking,

00:14:05all right, let's see if he can sustain this.

00:14:07But he's going to catch his eye at some stage if he does manage to continue in this vein.

00:14:10Do you know what?

00:14:11You can tell in the way he interviews and the way he's behaving.

00:14:13That's a bonus for him.

00:14:15He's just really happy to get that joy back, get that love of football back.

00:14:18And we all know Jack Grealish is at his best when he's happy, when he's enjoying it,

00:14:21when he's the main man.

00:14:22And like I say, it was a great feeling to see him score that goal.

00:14:24You saw that relief, that excitement.

00:14:26How can you, like I say, how can you begrudge a man playing like that?

00:14:29What about Crystal Palace?

00:14:30As you said, Danny, they started so well in that game,

00:14:33probably had a good 70 minutes in that game.

00:14:36But is it just the exertions of Europe?

00:14:39Is it the fact that they don't have the biggest squad to choose from?

00:14:42In fact, they've made the fewest changes along with Burnley in the Premier League so far this season.

00:14:46That's the key.

00:14:47It's because they've had to basically play the same 10, 11 players for a good while now.

00:14:52And Joe and I were talking about it after the games.

00:14:55And if you're not used to it especially, it's not just the games, it's the mental preparation, it's the travel.

00:15:01And we did see in the latter stages of the game, I thought maybe some changes earlier for Palace might have helped,

00:15:06but they have done amazingly well.

00:15:09They had some great moments in the game.

00:15:11And to be honest with you, Cal, there was a spell in the second half.

00:15:14They had a couple of chances, could have put the game to bed.

00:15:16And the manager was pleased with the performance.

00:15:17He knows there's some tired legs out there.

00:15:20There's lots of positive things for Palace to take on into the next few weeks.
