00:00it's not scary she can play around just like you can there's nothing wrong with her amaya was
00:04playing on the bounce house and kids from some other schools there they noticed her they started
00:11staring at her and then when i'm i'm talking about if it looks good like they were staring
00:16she saw what they were doing with her daughter and decided to take action so i walked to the
00:20side where they were at and i just stood and stared at them because what's the problem and
00:24they got in the bounce house to just to stare at amaya teach your kids about disabled kids some of
00:29us don't have legs and some of us don't have arms and some of us don't have fingers you need to teach
00:33your kids about diversity amaya was born without legs and without her ears meaning she faces going
00:39through life with more difficulties than you could imagine i'm just showing you how we put her in her
00:43car seat or her car bed lays down flat in the back seat she has the two straps that come over her
00:50shoulders and then one long strap up the middle she doesn't have any bones in her lower body no pelvis
00:56no hip bones no pubic bone none of that so a regular car seat is very dangerous for her over
01:01the years they were able to adapt her life to her disability but what is the full extent of amaya's
01:06conditions amaya was born with claudary russian syndrome that causes issues with the lower spine and
01:11spinal cords this is the reason for her not having legs she also has microtia and atresia so the
01:17malformation of the outer ear and she uses her baja to hear that's a hearing aid and we use
01:23silence to communicate with her curious viewers wanted more details on how her unique hearing
01:28aid worked her baja on her forehead the sound transmits through the skull and into her ears
01:35on both sides so she can hear out of both ears device can go behind either ear but then she would
01:40only be able to hear on one side so we've been learning asl for the last three and a half years
01:44i am in school to become an interpreter so that is my hope for the future there's nothing wrong with the
01:50inside of her ears nothing wrong with the hearing nerves or anything like that it's simply just
01:54close to your canal sadly that is not the end of all her medical complications so born with radial
01:59head dislocation both of her forearms she was born with cleft palate that was repaired at six months old
02:05she also had a g-tube for two and a half years for feeding she had a recessed jaw they think potentially
02:10due to the cleft palate so we've had multiple surgeries to correct that as well she also has a tethered
02:16spinal cord and that can cause issues with her bowel and bladder movements but we follow up with
02:21neurosurgery once a year now to confirm that there are no issues despite all this amaya tries to live
02:27a somewhat normal life like any other child she attends our local school for the deaf she's able
02:32to get around on her arms and push her own wheelchair and she is strong and independent and resilient
02:39and she can do whatever she puts her mind to i don't want you all to get discouraged when you see
02:44pictures and videos of her just know that she is very well loved and independent
02:51you silly girl this little girl is an inspiration to others showcasing to the world that her disability
02:56doesn't define her or limit her from living her life
