00:44for those involved in the January 2023 coup attempt, including former President Xi Bolsonaro.
00:51Hello and welcome to From the South. My name is Belen de los Santos.
00:58I'm from a tele-sour studio in Havana, Cuba. We'll begin with the news.
01:13Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro expressed his gratitude for the international solidarity
01:18that was shown to the Venezuelan people and government in the face of the escalating imperial aggressions
01:25by the United States against the South American nation.
01:28During the National Council of Productive Economy, the head of state specifically thanked the protests in Norway
01:35in support of Venezuela's right to peace.
01:38The president also highlighted the demonstrations held in more than 65 cities across the country
01:43to reject the Trump administration's attempts to stir up conflict in the region.
01:49On the other hand, President Maduro announced the shipment of the first load of Venezuelan gas
01:55to towns on the border with Colombia.
01:58This measure seeks to strengthen energy ties and mutual support between the two peoples.
02:04In this scenario, the Venezuelan president reiterated that his government will continue to promote diplomacy
02:11and cooperation in response to external pressures.
02:15I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Oslo and Norway,
02:28who took to the streets by the thousands today to call for peace in Venezuela,
02:32to support Venezuela in its desire for peace and development,
02:37and to say no to war for oil,
02:39and no to blood for oil.
02:43You saw it in Norway, and I was impressed.
02:47I saw it on social media before coming here thousands of Norwegians with their banners and slogans,
02:52and many Latin Americans who live there,
02:56posting on social media about that huge, self-organized demonstration,
03:01in support of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,
03:04and in rejection of the calls for military intervention,
03:08and war in Venezuela, and the Caribbean.
03:10Also in this context, the Venezuelan head of state called all economic factors to achieve Venezuela's producing goals
03:22and carry out a radical substitution of imports.
03:25Thank you, businessmen, creators of wealth,
03:31with the technology and the Venezuelan science.
03:34We have to accomplish that short-term goal.
03:38I'm not talking about three years.
03:39I'm talking about the short-term.
03:42And through phases, we have to produce everything in Venezuela.
03:48And there the line is very clear, a substitution, a radical substitution of imports.
03:56And we go now to Honduras.
03:58As President Xiomara Castro said that she will denounce the ongoing electoral coup
04:03and the U.S. interference in the democratic process before the international community.
04:09The Honduran president stated that she will launch a diplomatic offensive
04:14before international organizations such as CILAC and the United Nations
04:18to denounce the interference of U.S. President Donald Trump,
04:23who released former drug lord Juan Orlando Hernández.
04:27Xiomara Castro also condemned the actions of her U.S. counterpart
04:31in pressuring Hondurans to vote in favor of Nasri Asfura.
04:36In this way, Castro described the irregularities that led to a fraud
04:41that is favoring the candidate Asfura promoted.
04:44By President Trump.
04:52Meanwhile, former President Manuel Zelaya called on the communities of Tegucigalpa
04:57and Camayaguela to mobilize with the aim of denouncing fraud
05:01in the elections held on November 30th.
05:04Through his social media account, Zelaya stated that the Libre Party
05:08does not accept the results announced by the TREP system,
05:12asserting that the alteration of the source code of the transmission system
05:17was part of a plan to manipulate the elections.
05:21In this regard, Marlon Ochoa, a member of the National Electoral Council,
05:25backed up the concern by confirming that the software was modified
05:29without the authorization of the CNE plenary.
05:32Ochoa also detailed that 13,000 records presented inconsistencies
05:38and that structural faults were detected in the system
05:41since the simulation carried out on November 9th.
05:45And in Chile, presidential candidates Janet Cara and José Antonio Cast held their final debate
05:56before the second round of presidential elections that is scheduled for Sunday, December 14th.
06:02The candidates debated for more than two and a half hours on issues such as national security,
06:07governance, migration, among others.
06:10One of the most notable revelations was the commitment by both candidates
06:15to resign from their respective political parties in order to represent all Chileans equally.
06:22In the first round of voting on November 16th, Jara won the majority of votes,
06:27followed closely by Cast, who also gained the rapid support of former candidates
06:32with Joanes Keiser and Evelyn Matei.

07:10We continue with more information.
07:12Brazil's Chamber of Deputies approved a bill that could reduce sentences
07:16for those involved in the January 2033 coup attempt,
07:20including former President Jair Bolsonaro.
07:22With 291 votes in favor and 148 against,
07:26the bill incorporates a reduction in sentences of between four and eight years.
07:32In addition, it makes it easier for the other seven convicts
07:35to move from house arrest to open prison.
07:38In the case of the former president,
07:41his prison sentence would be reduced to six years and six months,
07:45down from the 27 years to which he was previously sentenced.
07:52And in Colombia, an explosion at the Copacabana toll booth on the Medellin-Bogota highway
08:00resulted in two civilian deaths and at least two people that were injured as well.
08:06The incident took place in the afternoon when national police officers were expecting
08:10a vehicle whose passengers were handling a grenade, which was accidentally detonated.
08:17After the incident, explosive technicians were deployed
08:20and found two rifles and ammunition in the trunk.
08:23The Medellin police confirmed that prior to the death of one of the individuals,
08:27he stated that he had been sent to deliver explosives and weapons to the city of Bogota.
08:33In the United States, Aileen Higgins won the runoff election for mayor of Miami,
08:44becoming the first Democrat in almost 30 years to be elected mayor of Miami,
08:49resulting in another electoral defeat for Donald Trump and his Republican Party.
08:54More information on this, Higgins defeated Republican Emilio Gonzalez,
08:58who had the support of President Donald Trump and Governor Ron DeSantis.
09:03The victory represents a boost for the Democratic Party in Florida,
09:07a key state where the organization has faced setbacks in recent election cycles.
09:12The result is considered a significant victory at a national level as the contest attracted the interest
09:19of both parties in a key state for the upcoming presidential elections.
09:25And on Tuesday, the first of a series of powerful storms hit the Pacific Northwest,
09:46dumping heavy rain and swelling rivers,
09:48which caused roads too close and prompted high water rescues in the United States.
09:53Residents in parts of Oregon and Washington dealt with power outages, flooding and school closures.
09:59Meanwhile, drivers navigated debris slides and flooded roads that submerged vehicles.
10:06Forecasters warned that the worst was yet to come,
10:09as some major rivers were expected to crest later this week.
10:13The National Weather Service forecast several days of heavy rainfall along the coast
10:18and over a foot of new snow in northwestern Wyoming.
10:23The United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF reported that Israel's restrictions on humanitarian aid
10:51have caused a health crisis that is unprecedented since the beginning of the genocide against the Palestinian people.
10:59According to the international organization,
11:01more than 9,000 children were hospitalized with acute malnutrition in October of 2025.
11:08This figure represents five times more hospital admissions than those recorded in February,
11:14which is evidence of the deterioration in the living conditions of Palestinians.
11:19In response, UNICEF denounced that the blocate imposed by Israel prevents the entry of food and medicines.
11:26This policy exacerbates the humanitarian catastrophe and violates international regulations
11:31on the protection of civilians in conflict zones.
11:35Now, in other news, Iran, China and Saudi Arabia concluded their third trilateral meeting in Tehran,
11:49where they reaffirmed regional cooperation and also called for an end to Israeli aggressions.
11:55The closing of this third round was led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Argachi,
12:01who highlighted China's constructive and decisive role in regional affairs,
12:06indicating that its participation is key to promoting peace and international balance.
12:11Argachi also noted that his country maintains a sustained policy of good neighborhood with Saudi Arabia
12:18while continuing to make progress in areas of common interests.
12:23The meeting concluded with a joint statement in which the three countries condemned and demanded
12:27the immediate cessation of Israeli aggression against Palestine, Lebanon and Syria.

13:14We continue with more information.
13:16China reached a historic milestone in its trade balance, surpassing $1 trillion.
13:21More information on this with our correspondent Bruno Falsi.
13:24Greetings, colleagues of Telesur and all the audience watching us.
13:29I am in Beijing now to report this time on an historical record in China's trade balance,
13:36consolidating its international leadership in international commerce.
13:42Authorities confirm that the country surpassed the $1 trillion mark in accumulated trade surplus
13:51surplus for the first time in 2025.
13:54Export grew by 6% in the month of November, even with a nearby 30% drop in sales for the United States.
14:06Demonstrated that the U.S. strategy fails to curb Chinese trade, while China strengthened its relations
14:13with the global south, expanding its marks in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
14:19This growth occurs in a challenged international context, marked by extreme weather events, such as the recent floods in Asia.
14:31That effect supplied chains and left thousands of homes damaged.
14:37And even so, China maintained the stability of its foreign trade and domestic economy, demonstrating resilience in the face of global difficulties.
14:49The record surplus also supports domestic consumption and the real estate sector.
14:56With the outlook, Beijing reaffirms its commitment to open and sustainable foreign trade, while implementing measures to strengthen domestic demand by 2026.
15:11With this news, we will return with you in the studio in La Habana, Cuba.
15:17Thank you, Bruno.
15:19For more information, Russia denounced the increase in sanctions promoted by the United States against the country.
15:26The Russian foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, accused the Trump administration of strengthening sanctions against the Russian people.
15:34In this regard, Lavrov assured that these measures only lead Moscow to seek alternatives to guarantee the country's economic stability.
15:42The foreign minister also emphasized that sanctions are being imposed under the pretext of combating alleged cybercrime, which Moscow has denied.
15:51In this scenario, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, threatened Russia with imposing further sanctions for its intransigence.
16:00And in Greece, protests continue in different cities across the country, demanding European aid benefits for agricultural workers.
16:14According to the Union of Agricultural Associations of Larissa, Greek farmers have deployed more than 20,000 tractors to block the country's main roads in protest.
16:25In this context, workers are demanding the payment of European aid benefits, whose delivery is paralyzed due to ongoing investigations into alleged million-dollar fraud linked to European Union support for the agricultural sector.
16:40For his part, the Greek prime minister stated that his government is open to dialogue with representatives of the sector.
16:48In Cambodia, the Ministry of Defense announced the evacuation of more than 100,000 people after the fourth day of border conflict with Thailand.
17:06During a press conference, the Defense Ministry spokesperson indicated that 20,105 families, a total of over 101,000 people, were evacuated to temporary shelters in five border provinces.
17:21In this regard, Cambodian authorities assured that such evacuation operations continue according to the assessment of the situation on the ground.
17:29Further, apartheid authorities announced that more than 400,000 people were transferred to temporary shelters, exceeding the government's initial estimates of about 180,000 civilians.
17:41Let's recall that since last weekend, Cambodia and Thailand have accused each other of violating the ceasefire agreement that since July of 2025 put an end to the clashes due to the border dispute between the two nations.
17:59And the United Nations Children's Fund executive director called for urgent action to safeguard children in Sudan during her visit to Casala in the eastern region of the country.
18:10According to a report by UNICEF executive director Catherine Russell, Sudan is facing one of the world's most severe humanitarian crisis among and amid this escalating conflict, rising hunger and the highest level of child displacement in the world.
18:29With an estimated of 10 million people displaced, half of them children.
18:34Furthermore, the agency stated that more than 30 million people require humanitarian assistance in the country.
18:41Russell also highlighted the vulnerability of women and girls who are experiencing horrific levels of sexual violence.
18:49UNICEF is calling for an immediate end to the violence and for all parties to uphold international humanitarian law.
18:59And the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, warned of a new wave of massive displacements across the borders of Sudan.
19:11Grandi pointed out that after the latest wave of violence in Cardofan, a region comprising three states in the center and south of the country, approximately 40,000 people were forcibly displaced.
19:25During a meeting with survivors of the killings in Al-Fashar, the High Commissioner denounced that humanitarian workers lack the necessary resources to assist those affected.
19:36The official also warned that the commission does not have the sufficient means to transfer Sudanese refugees from unstable areas to the border with Chad, increasing the vulnerability of thousands of people.
