00:00in a land where dogs run wild one man stands between chaos and canine decency
00:14dog training maestro Graham Hall is back
00:22even the biggest bark in town is no match for the dog father oh your beauty well I've come across all
00:36sorts of things around the world but I've never come across this one Harry I didn't expect oh my
00:48God I'm so sorry come on Billy if you carry on like this you're killing this dog with kindness
00:56oh you just got me good time's running out here something's got to change so saddle up
01:07fucking bandits beware if this works this will change their lives close the door
01:15cause mr. Hall is she proud of you gets every dog oh you'll have Ian's ears in a minute oh that's nice
01:25every time testing Graham's skills this week hey leave him be a deadly game of fetch a pint-sized
01:39pupfluencer hijacking the bathroom spotlight oh he just got me good and a patrolling pooch turning nap times
01:47into nightmares so has the dog father met his match Graham's heading west of Brisbane out into the sticks
02:04and you know what they say where there's sticks there's naughty doggos waiting for a dog father
02:12I'm in rural Queensland today and I'm coming to see a family who live out in the country in a
02:17countryside idyllic location you might say except their peace has been shattered
02:23Debbie and Wayne call this place home along with every creature they've ever said yes to
02:32you let's go everyone knows our place is the chaotic house I call it McDonald's farm if you
02:39had a bad day you just come home you see the dogs and then you see deep that's all right horse dogs cats
02:47wait we know our places and top of the hound hierarchy sits eight-year-old Harley followed
02:56by four-year-old Amira and two-year-old Sophie they sleep together they eat together they play
03:03together they go everywhere together they get along really good there's no anger towards each other and
03:09we love them to the moon and back just one big happy family
03:15Harley loves his ball but the minute I pick up a ball and say his name all hell breaks loose
03:23the other two chase him mirror grabs his tail they completely focus on him ready go hey leave him be
03:34no Sophie boy his whole world is his ball and all he wants to do is chase it he can't do that without
03:42being harassed oh god all right leave him be poor Harley just wanted a game of fetch but instead he got
03:52a full w w wolf smackdown oh Sophie got it Sophie's only imitating the behavior of a mirror
04:01yeah oh come on mirror leave him be Harley's left playing Cinderella with two sisters adamant that
04:09he's not going to get to the ball when I see Harley getting harassed by the other two it's heartbreaking
04:16because his whole enjoyment is the ball and the stick worst case scenario is Carly's that badly injured
04:23that we'll have to put him down you know we just don't want that to happen time to bring in the big
04:30dog and yes you rural rascals he wears a cravat in my head this kind of sort of almost nice problems
04:40to have if you know what I mean and then there's really horrible dog behavior problems and right at
04:46the top of the list of horrible dog behavior problems is dogs fighting it's always hard work
04:52and this ain't two dogs it's three dogs fighting I hope you brought your dog whistle Graham
04:58I thought I was going to see three dogs fighting they actually never fight but the minute a ball
05:11comes out aggression so the triggers a ball and the trigger is the ball we got big old Harley Harley
05:16Harley Harley male and then you got mr. Mira under the table here hello mr. Mira shepard cross husky
05:24Sophie's the baby border collie cross Kelpie so peace and quiet reigns except for when you get a ball
05:31out is the barking there's the chasing there's chaos it's chaos right it's us yelling as much as I don't
05:38want to put Harley through it necessarily I need to see it really so I can understand what's going on
05:42oh he started already hold on to your cravat Graham things are about to get scrappy oh
05:51Harley oh Harley who's the mirror hey you ready oh look straight away yeah come on oh poor old Harley
06:09he didn't even get going then they're both on him yeah what sort of things have you tried then I could get
06:16her on the lead or I make a sit and stay with a treat that'll work a few times but then as soon
06:22as we go to the dam everything young and does so things are worse at the dam I think yeah but the
06:28problem is then he stays in the water stays in the and swims and swims and swim okay I can't get him
06:33out right well let's tell you what should we go down the dam it'd be nice to see it there yeah
06:37definitely all right oh yeah just add water and this game turns into an extreme sport he'll
06:54eventually come back in and these two will just run just in the shallows yeah yeah see how he's
06:59staying out there now yeah he is isn't he so Graham's got a double header family peace on land
07:05family peace on water it's not a nice way to have to live though for him is it bless him he seems as
07:13fit as a fiddle he's an eight-year-old dog I mean he's gonna tire himself out there is that's what
07:18worries us yeah I mean what's your worst fear oh he gets a permanent injury or we lose him in this
07:26murky water if he went under he'd be not gonna get him out has he been injured by them then yeah so
07:32he received an accruciate ligament injury thankfully not torn however that was a year and
07:38half of rehabilitation what's clear to me now that I've seen it is that this behavior is play it's not
07:45fighting it's not aggression it's not nastiness it is play but it's inappropriate we need to take
07:51action and we need to take action now what's interesting about this is you look back at the
07:58different breeds you think right German Shepherd cross Husky right German Shepherd Sheepdog she's a
08:05Sheepdog yeah that's Germany's answer to a colleague something about when he runs they're escaping I'll go
08:11get them well if it all goes horribly wrong your neck that's where it comes from it's also why
08:15they're good at catching criminals so that one's getting away go stop him and grab his tail well of
08:22course so that's what she's doing you know we are talking about nature and nursery it's like what's in
08:28the dog's DNA that makes them do the things they do she's doing what she's bred to do the realization
08:33that she's a shepherd I completely didn't put that together and that's the part I was missing
08:39this dog is really determined it's a pretty extreme behavior and I don't think it's going
08:44to be a piece of cake this coming up stop it can Graham calm the farm by getting this Sheppsky to
08:50simmer down no an instapop star being showered with love and likes do you want to get dressed
08:56you want to take a photo and a four-legged alarm clock with no respect for nap time
09:02Harley's ball time is now a full contact family sport thanks to sisters Amira and Sophie
09:17Graham's challenge take this from rugby scrum to peaceful play date oh god training two dogs at once
09:26is really difficult but training three even harder and with Sophie I'm convinced that if we get Amira
09:32right Sophie will just follow her lead because of that I don't think I need to involve Sophie in this
09:38training right now I've got 10 meter long line we'll pop that on her she's on her harness now
09:44so what we'll do now is we'll we'll introduce Harley we'll start nice and easy maybe not throw the ball
09:49too far if she goes for it stop it if need be we can hold her on the line and if we trained her she I
09:56think will train Sophie for us yeah so if Amira goes for Harley she'll be reined in but if she resists
10:03praise and pats aplenty going to need the strong mitts today Graham Amira means business stop it no so she
10:19didn't listen right therefore I stopped her on the line yeah I'm struggling with Amira
10:24Amira stop it no the longer throws aren't working but I've got an idea yes you you did it again that
10:31might help as soon as you start to throw the ball quite a long way she loses it it's a bit too much at
10:38that stage it works when you're not throwing it very far too much leash too little listening so
10:45Graham's shifting gears with shorter throws and stricter limits that's it stop it it's proving to
10:52be more difficult than I thought because when I say to Amira stop it sometimes she listens great you can
10:57see her going yeah no better not other times she's like I'm not listening to you I'm gonna bite this dog
11:02so then I'm having to stop her on the long line stop it so Harley's not being bullied in quite the way
11:08he was but Amira she's only half getting the message I tell you what I've got a treat in me
11:14pocket let's try it good girl that was very good clever girl it's treats versus tail and Graham's
11:21hoping to tip the scales stop it the temptation's a powerful thing especially when it's attached to
11:28your brother you've really got to be on the ball so I want to get a stop it in without putting the
11:34brakes on first because then if she doesn't listen to me there's a consequence yeah yeah ah stop it
11:41good clever girl good girl good girl I wasn't holding on there I was ready for her I thought she's
11:57gonna go and she didn't that's a first snacks have flipped the switch with Amira figuring out that if
12:05she listens to the dog father the buffet is wide open that's worth a treat there you go it's down
12:11there something all of a sudden just snapped in her then so we'll do a third time if it works we
12:16should quit while we're ahead for Amira's final test Debbie's got to give it everything okay ready
12:23ready yeah it's been hard for I'm not gonna pretend if we'd have just got a treat out this morning when
12:40she was biting pulling and all rest of it it wouldn't have made a damn because she's a lot
12:44calmer and she can think clearly when she's a good guy good now there's a tree she's like okay the
12:51training went really good today that was amazing we expected the outcome but not that quickly I
12:57think Amira's really turned the corner today and she's learned on land at least how to play nicely and
13:02Harley well he's happy because he doesn't have to run away and hide his ball but I don't want him
13:09swimming around the middle of that dam forever if she plays down there the way she's been playing
13:14around the house so yeah maybe I have to come back and teach her how to do things on water as well
13:21as land I think some owners have literally never said no to their dog because they love their dog
13:29and they don't want to make them upset and I think there's a confusion there that making rules and
13:35boundaries which involves saying no sometimes doesn't mean that you don't love them on the
13:40contrary you want your dog to feel good and we all feel good when we know what the rules are my job
13:46sometimes it to get to the point where they can say no and still feel good about it still means they
13:52love their dog if you can get through that roadblock they're going to be happier in the end because they
13:57know where they stand you're happier so that's a win-win
14:02oh Brisbane where the sun shines bright the cafes come with hashtags and even the dogs have followers
14:16it's also where Graham's next canine conundrum is ready for her close-up gets a bit hot and humid
14:23around these parts at the end of a busy day you often want a nice cool shower except the people
14:28I'm going to see can't do that because their Pomeranian won't let them
14:32I'm Ken I'm Em and our dogs are Maverick and Goose
14:38Maverick is a male Pomeranian he's three years old and Goose is four
14:43if I could I would have ten Pomeranians I would love like a little herd of them
14:49it's not going to happen maybe one day Maverick is definitely spoiled he has his own Instagram page
14:59he has about seven and a half thousand followers he just loves the camera we have a dog room he has
15:08his own wardrobe full of clothing accessories he's got more clothes than I do do you want to get dressed
15:15do you want to take a photo I'm struggling to see the problem with any of this
15:19I think it's one of his favorite things to do really plays it up for the camera is not afraid doesn't shy away
15:24okay he sits there and he poses and he pulls out the old zoo lander
15:30I think Maverick definitely knows he's a bit of a star
15:33but the fabulous life ain't all fun and filters trust me
15:39Maverick might be a social media star but he does have a dirty little secret
15:50every morning as soon as I walk into my bedroom try and get my clothes out
15:55he knows that that means I'm about to have a shower
15:59he will race me into the bathroom and bark at me until I turn the water on
16:04once the water goes on he will jump up and bark and jump up and bark at it and bite it
16:12come on as you go as you go until I get in there
16:19and then he will shower with me if I go in Maverick's in there with me as well
16:26your dog jumping at you barking at you scratching your legs licking the water off your legs yeah it
16:30makes it stressful the only time we get a relaxing shower to ourself is when we send Maverick to
16:36daycare I think Maverick thinks he's entitled to anything he wants flawless fur perfect poses
16:43Maverick's lifestyle is totally fetch so I'm thinking a dog with a problem with a shower right
16:50I'm going to be in and out the shower all day and I'm a bit worried about this case if I'm honest with you
16:55because all that water it's going to play a habit with the tweed and the cravat in it
17:07Graham's in Queensland where one diva's idea of self-care includes steam suds and zero personal
17:16boundaries Pomeranians are those perfectly petite powder puff pooches that you see around they used to
17:23be much bigger they're descended from big german spitz type dogs but I can't imagine why one would
17:29have a problem with the shower I've never come across this before strike a pose Graham this content
17:36is about to flood your feed so who have we got then come here maverick oh hello come on hello maverick
17:42oh you're all dressed up we're in theme today aren't we maverick oh I see very good oh a shower
17:48okay I see he looks pretty he works it for the camera on a regular basis easy on social media is
17:54he is yeah all right yeah he's a bit of a star a bit of a diva yes definitely a diva a doggy diva
18:01and you've got a second pom-pom then this is goose hello goose so you've got a problem with the shower
18:07i understand is that right he loves it he will not let us go in the shower without him oh really
18:13he's got to be in it and chasing it well can we see okay now things are about to get steamy hey mav
18:23oh he loves it doesn't he yes and that's what he does he's just drinking the water then yeah
18:29and he'll continue to do that while we're in the shower so if you try and get in the shower he's
18:34trying to do that he's under your feet why don't you just put him out because he'll scratch the
18:38door down oh will he yeah even trying to get him out becomes a bit of a hazard like he's been known
18:43to have a little nip at me if i try and hurry him out yeah can i see what happens if we put him out
18:48yeah come on out you go out you go oh yeah he's not happy is he out you go he's turned into a
18:55gravely out you go out you go out you go and he's straight back in again come on here we went for
19:04you then yes right that's what i'm worried about yeah that is not how you build your follower numbers
19:10sweetie i do deal with some problems that are really dangerous or really scary and this is different to
19:18that this is a story of a dog who's affecting all sides of life you know you have a shower that most
19:23simpler thing as you do it every day can't do that because the dog's in the way and if you try and
19:27stop him he's either biting you or he's trying to damage this house it doesn't take much you know for
19:33a problem like this to really wear you down it's relentless this problem is going viral for all the
19:41wrong reasons so i think we need to think about why he's doing what he's doing and for me there's a
19:48clue in the fact that you know you dress him up and he loves it a lot of dogs seem to hate it
19:52but maverick does seem to love it you're smiling and laughing and he's going you like this you
19:57like this out of it the question on my mind is this when else is he doing something that makes
20:04you smile and laugh yeah even getting in the water yeah there's a lot of smiling and laughing going on
20:11yes what's he to think yeah okay yeah i think that's the crux of it yeah and you need to understand that
20:19he shouldn't be in the room and scrabbling at the door does not get him in so i think to avoid you
20:25getting bitten because i've seen what happens when you try and pick him up right why don't we start
20:30with him outside he can bark and he can scrabble as much as he likes and then when he's quiet we let
20:35him in and tell him he's a good boy so what i'm attempting to do today is teach a dog who appears to
20:40be one of the most impatient dogs you've ever met to be patient at least long enough for a person to have
20:46a shower and graham's come up with a very stylish plan to outwit a shower obsessed influencer so i'll
20:55put this plastic corrigan on here so that he can scratch as much as he likes and we can afford to
20:59ignore him let's bite the bullet and start as we mean to go on new boundary person in here having a
21:06shower you're outside yeah right if you learn to be patient we'll reward you and then we'll extend the
21:11time okay you know how long does the shower take four or five minutes yeah so if we can get to the
21:16point where for five minutes he can be patient and just not scratch and bark well we're on a winner
21:23yeah we've achieved our goal really yeah absolutely bad behavior that's a swift unfollow be a good boy
21:30we're all sliding into your dm's love come on out you go it's hard to beat it that's it sorry mate
21:40but you're not allowed out you go there we go oh he just he just got me good
21:48that's a rule that even stars can't break never bite the hand that feeds you
21:54maverick's not taking no for an answer he absolutely thinks it's his right to be in that bathroom and
21:59emma has no right telling him otherwise it just shows you how insistent this dog is i might have
22:04my work cut out here so he can scrabble as much as he likes it's not going to work
22:14well that's good i'll turn off the shower you can open the door and tell him he's a good boy
22:21good boy clever boy good boy that's calmer hey but don't let him in okay you stay there that's it
22:28now we're trying again good boy that's it good boy okay on with the shower
22:38so we carry on repeating this yeah so you close the door shower goes on he barks let's see how this
22:45goes oh he's scrambling yeah he just scratched see at this point now what would you normally do
22:50let him in
22:53look at the minute the training's going really well and emma's doing a good job now i think she's putting
22:57on a bit of a brave face because i've just got this england that beneath that that sort of pretty
23:02stoic outside there's a lady who's going oh bless him and i think she just wants to cave in really
23:08and let him in if she does that we're absolutely sunk so she needs to dig deep really
23:18in brisbane maverick part pomeranian part paparazzi magnet is getting graham's help to break his
23:25addiction to the shower zone and it's causing him to have a massive meltdown
23:32you've really got to think with your head not your heart yeah because if you allow yourself to go
23:36oh i feel sorry for him and he squeaks and you open the door a squeak becomes a whimper becomes a
23:42bark becomes a scratch yeah you see what i mean yeah yes give this little prince an inch and he's back
23:48setting up his ring light in the shower caddy this is probably about a minute's worth of quiet
23:56good boy clever boy
23:58hey yeah there we go you're gonna stay out here this time staying at your goal
24:09there you go he's barking and looking angry but he's not but he's not running past yeah which
24:13is a big difference it is so next time make that more matter of fact because that was like
24:18he's gonna stay there yeah yeah okay and he's building things i will go all right good boy and
24:23gone okay so the trick is calm energy inside calm energy outside
24:31i'm just really happy he's not scratching though that's a really good start yeah point is as well
24:37if you just scratch you can ignore it yes so that's annoying but not damaging but we can ignore it exactly
24:48so this is great yeah this could be you in the shower now yeah i reckon about now you're halfway
24:54done yeah yeah yeah yeah why don't you pop out tell him he's a good boy i'll switch off the shower
25:00again okay great good boy he's lying down wow good boy now that's patience good boy finally a breakthrough
25:13so for the last test graham fires up the shower for a full five minutes time to see if maverick's
25:20truly rinsed his bad habits i reckon we've been showering so long now we're the cleanest people
25:27in the world and he's still not barking this is great good boy that's it nice and calm good boy
25:38mommy good boy i'm very proud good boy clever boy clever boy we're on a winner now because we've
25:45gone from like starey let me in there you know intent eyes to what i call soft eyes all right
25:53mum okay i'll just be patient and wait for you big big difference okay very good close the door
26:02shut the bathroom door that's funny not even one back i know you can't believe it can you i can't
26:17it's good he's given up maverick's behavior has gone from demanding good boy to demure i'm so proud of
26:25you're still lying down well it's official sit pretty get praise the oldest trick in the influencer
26:33book there's a time to think with your head and there is a time to think with your heart
26:38but this was one for the head and she did well oh yeah okay great result
26:53in victoria graham's en route to another family who are at their wit's end with their toy size
27:01troublemaker i'm in melbourne today and i'm here to see a little dog with a big problem now some people
27:07train dogs to guard the house fair enough but occasionally you get a dog who trains himself
27:14and there's a lot of reasons why that could be none of which i've got to say are particularly easy to fix
27:23first-time parents rhiannon and patty are knee-deep in nappies purees and unconditional love courtesy of
27:31baby sunny but the joys of parenthood have been overshadowed by a pint-sized protector ruling the roost
27:41stanley is a bundle of joy he's super affectionate always playful as yeah is that yours
27:49yeah he's a breed dog but he has a darker side
27:57that darker side it's loud it's unhinged and it's currently running the household he has a serious
28:05problem when it comes to our house he seems to think that he can guard it patrol it and
28:10he has a horrific bark and it wakes up our son stan stanley's unrelenting patrols are making nap times
28:21a nightmare and depriving stan's little human bro of his afternoon siestas
28:26if there is any form of uh interruption like what we get from stan then it can be a nightmare
28:42and um as we can see now from stan from stan waking him up it's going to be another
28:53monstrous effort to try and put him down
28:59in a perfect world an hour for a new mum is heaven so you can go and do some washing you can oh my
29:05goodness have a cup of tea and eat something just to have a little breather
29:09with sleep out the window with stanley at the window rhiannon's taken a reverse psychology
29:15approach to discipline stanley that technique that i've adopted is saying yes to the behavior
29:21we used to say no but that sounds very much like go which stanley does no so i tried to implement yes
29:27yes yes yes yes yes yes i naturally react with no yes absolutely it's caused friction between us
29:42yes no wait was that a yes no or a no yes
29:48yes being home alone with a baby and a naughty dog is quite full on um there's not a peaceful day
30:00it's always quite stressful and i'm starting to get a little bit upset
30:06so i find it sometimes really challenging
30:08coming up can graham convince this protective pooch to roll out the welcome mat enough
30:20enough mirror stay and graham returns to queensland to save harley's game of fetch from going under at
30:28the dam graham's in melbourne on his way to see a pooch with a patrolling problem oh lovely cravat graham
30:45thank you very much this is you julia okay thank you very much i love you graham always a pleasure
30:51right back at you my beloved dog father but now it's back to work with a tiny terrier who's
30:58terrorizing his family oh i can't wait to see what graham makes of rhiannon's unusual yes technique yes
31:10great hello nice to meet you come on in please oh well this is the terrifying god this is stanley
31:28there you go hello you didn't know whether to get rid of me or welcome me then did you
31:32nothing gets past stanley's watch and graham's getting the full pat down complimentary lick
31:38included i see your problem you've got quite an open aspect here in a way so when people walk
31:43fast he reacts does he yeah if anyone pulls up in one of these car parks out the front or
31:47someone walks past he's usually straight onto it is he yeah so what effect is this having on you then
31:53san will bark and bark and bark and that will ultimately determine my day he will impact sunny's
31:59sleep usually he'll go for an hour or two hours on a good day but with stanley he can wake him up in
32:0315 15 minutes and then he's all upset so the rest of my day is completely gone yeah he reacts to
32:10pretty much everything that goes past yeah and people coming up you drive that's the worst yes yeah
32:16so what do you do about the problem we often say go when we want stanley to go for a walk oh i see so
32:22if we say no i feel like that's very similar to go and i thought maybe that's what's egging him on so
32:29i've been running with saying yes so you're saying yes when you mean no yeah yeah what are you doing
32:35i want to say like no straight away right um i try deep voice and i trained myself to be like yes
32:42to make him stop it sounds mad but i can see what you're thinking i've got to see it it's probably
32:48however you say it that counts barking dog crying baby yes confusing commands no wonder everyone's
32:55exhausted yes yes stanley i think i need to lie down oh there you go you can't get more different
33:05than one person saying yes and one person saying no when basically they both have the same intention
33:11i mean poor old stanley he's like well how does this work what's going on
33:18time for graham to power down this pint-sized security system
33:23let's talk about what i think might be going on i think he is trying to protect you in his own
33:27little way so i think what he's doing is he's overreacting so i think we need to turn it around
33:33we've got to tell him repeatedly and consistently this isn't what we want right so whether it's yes
33:38or no the sound and the way it looks is the important bit right the other thing that you're missing
33:46is when he backs off what happens next how does he know that's good we normally say good
33:54do you yeah okay you do whereas i get a little bit annoyed and i'm angry with him okay the bit
34:00that you're missing is that when he backs off we need to go this is good okay that was naughty this
34:05is good okay so what i'm going to do is i'm going to give you a new word that we can use but we also
34:09need to be rewarding when he backs down right we need a sound that's not nasty it's not aggressive
34:15but it's not negotiable right so how about enough enough and if you deliver it in that way we're not
34:23shouting we're not upset we've actually taken the emotion out of it but we are very clearly saying it
34:28is enough right yes i mean a yes yes clear communication is key let's try and move this
34:35back a little bit before the training can start the decor gets a reshuffle because now you see
34:41i can get behind never a bad time for a redo we've moved the couch out so that we've got room now to
34:47get between him and the window why is that important because previously he's looking out the window and
34:54he's trying to repel the invaders right we're behind him shouting yes no and goodness knows what right
34:59he just thinks we're just in the background and probably backing him up yeah whereas if we're here
35:06and we deliver our new queue you know he's like oh that's me you're talking to
35:13i'll demonstrate the first one and if that goes well we'll get you guys down a bit yeah all right
35:18sounds good let's do it to help graham's roped in a trio of delivery legends right can we have a pizza
35:25delivery man please brave bold and blissfully unaware of stanley's resume right enough did he forget
35:38the garlic bread stanley come here you know good boy enough so me sitting down with the back to him
35:51also sends out a signal i'm not bothered okay yeah not bothered he forgot to leave the pizza
35:58rhiannon do you fancy having a go sure good let's swap places you know what to do don't you i do
36:04what we're not saying yes yes oh there we go good boy that's enough that's enough chapter one from
36:17the dog father's guide to parenting pooches right that's enough embrace the new command word you
36:25just said that's enough because you're human that's a different word to him that begins with t can we
36:31have a traveling salesperson please chapter two getting that tone right right on you go enough enough
36:40that's enough enough good boy all right that was okay you're enough not aggressive but i want it to
36:49be more definitive you know more like i've said it i have spoken okay enough okay be confident yeah
36:57there we go enough oh yes i wouldn't mess with that followed by
37:02good boy now that good boy slow it down for me good boy nicer good boy i've never seen him do that
37:12before have you not no good never it's good isn't it yeah it's fantastic now remember we're going to get
37:20you guys doing the same thing consistently so paddy we'll get you to have a go yep and paddy's challenge
37:26chapter three the trickiest of them all the timing can we have a window cleaner please
37:34oh here we go stanley enough oh well done
37:40and that's it good boy that's it that's a good boy well done ah and then stop right if he grumbles
37:50our backs while you're giving him a tickle stop giving him a tickle that's a good boy and then stop
37:55tickling him look see what i mean about timing from moment to moment you go good so far so good
38:01and then if he spoils it good boy there you go boy well done so with all three chapters completed
38:10time for the final challenge an ultimate showdown that's so darn crazy it might just work
38:17i think um we could push this a bit further are you up for a challenge always good window cleaner
38:23could you pretend to clean the windows please there we go good boy there you go
38:32enough good
38:37if you look behind you man wow
38:43wow good boy good boy fantastic what a win peaceful pooch sleeping baby and pretend clean windows
38:53that's the result is it ever so no security guard no repelling the invaders how's this going to
39:01change things for you rianne we've never seen him so relaxed and comfortable it's just
39:06going to cry again you might be able to get a bit of sleep now i know i know thank you
39:16can you put it into words it's good isn't it it's good it's good yeah yeah it's definitely a relief
39:24yeah it's hard to put yourself truly in somebody else's position and know what it feels like when
39:30your dog behavior is stopping the baby getting off to sleep which is impacting your sleep which
39:35means you're on edge all the time and only paddy and rhiannon really know what that feels like
39:42but seeing that emotion at the end i think that's a big clue i think we've made a big difference here
39:48you know come here well done all right thank you for look after yourselves thanks bye bye now bye
39:55another day another dog another tiny miracle good boy a day in the life of a cravat
40:06but no time for a victory lap it's back to queensland where harley and amira have saved graham a second
40:13helping of kale graham's back in the queensland bush where harley was having a hard time with his
40:30sisters at ball time morning now he's taking the plunge into the next order of business saving harley
40:37from torment at swim time so the last time i was with you we sort of hit on a method that worked and i
40:43sort of left you with him well you clearly took it and ran with it oh yeah we went out every
40:47afternoon for five to ten minutes maximum do you want to show me then this is uh this is impressive
40:52ali first okay good puppies amazing good puppies good puppies that's a huge difference yeah well debbie's
41:01done a great job i think with amira but big problem when we get near the water and i saw it last time
41:07harley blessed him he's scared to come out because amira is getting too excited
41:12and he knows what awaits him when he gets out a mirror goes for him so there's still a problem
41:17with that and that's what we need to do today that you might say is the challenge for the day
41:22so why don't we start with a little distance away hopefully he's swimming around seeing that we've got
41:27a dog under control which gives him a bit of reassurance yeah now for safety and also to give
41:32us a little bit more control i've got a floating long line that i can attach to harley and we can guide
41:37him back towards the shore if we need to so if he's reluctant we can give him a little nudge
41:43first up graham needs to get a mirror to sit calmly before they throw the ball let's go
41:49last time i only just got a mirror on board right at the end so i know how determined she can be
41:54mirror to me i'm not expected today to be a walk in the park therefore
42:00and after some classic diva delay tactics amira's finally given the green light
42:07it's not quite swan lake but graham's got a little number designed to make the damn calm
42:13yeah lovely ready there you go oh mirror no come on good girl but will amira keep the calm when harley
42:23comes back good boy mirror no good girl good girl that was good yeah because she listened to us for the
42:34first time yeah amira's passed the first hurdle but now comes the hard part go repetition
42:47repetition oh and did i mention more repetition how do you feel about having a crack at it yourself
42:56yeah good well you know the routine by now yep there's a ball yep there's a long line
43:01set deb knows the routine but can she master it on her own sophie very good harley next mirror stay
43:13good girl good girl your long line look that's right that's it see he's coming back on his own
43:19we don't need to pull him in no he's coming in mirrors just here look it's not even bothered
43:25fantastic it's very very clear that debbie has put in so much effort good good so all we've done
43:33today is put a routine in that really sort of bedded in what she's already been doing and took
43:40it to the next level that was awesome he's coming back of his own volition now because she's not having
43:45a pop the line is almost superfluous how do you feel about not having the long line on yeah yeah no
43:52no problems let's give it a go the final test no long line to see if harley still comes back to
43:58the shore of his own free will right you know the routine all right sophie first harley next
44:09amira's nailed it who's a clever boy hello he's a good boy and harley no longer hijacked just one
44:15soggy satisfied soul living his best fetch life oh he's happy now anyway i think this has been easier
44:24than the last time and i think to a large extent it's credit to you because all the work you've
44:29put in up to now has like been the foundation for this and then we've tweaked it a bit to apply here
44:35i think we've changed that lad's life the fear of him getting so injured and having to put him down
44:41yeah he's gone like that's just not there anymore sure and i've just got a much happier dog yeah it's
44:46great it's been a team game you know a little bit announced from me a lot of hard work from you
44:51put it there well done thank you i think you've done a great job thank you this case to me has been
44:56about the importance of having a plan sticking to it where possible but modifying it if you need to
45:02and then when you found something that works do the work put in the hard work and do it again
45:07repeatedly and then you get the results and we've seen that ampli i think in this one
45:18in melbourne stanley is still a work in progress
45:23but everyone's finally on the same page enough we are not saying the separate words anymore
45:29which now we can see would have been very confusing good boy we definitely feel like
45:35we're heading in a good direction we definitely feel like he is getting better if we stick together
45:39and use the right terms then just keep on practicing i think we'll get there yeah maverick shower sharing
45:47days are officially over since the training we haven't showered with him at all graham with his
45:53training yeah he's a magician made it look so easy now i can just get in get my hair washed and out like
45:58yeah it's so good it's the little things in life but like it's just yeah it's really good and in sunny
46:05queensland fetch is fun again and peace has reclaimed the pasture hey graham how you going just wanted to
46:13say thank you for all your help and guidance with all our dogs ever since you've come out play time
46:19here has certainly been a whole lot better harley go sophie go mira ready
46:32next time on dogs behaving very badly a japanese dog who needs to take up meditation
46:39there ain't a lot of zen going on around here
46:41a pint-sized casanova whose love language is slobber i'll tell graham and a cheeky airedale
46:52running rings around his family give me the love come here come on
