00:00in a land where dogs run wild one man stands between chaos and canine decency
00:18dog training maestro graham hall is back
00:22even the biggest bark in town is no match for the dog father
00:34oh you're beauty well i've come across all sorts of things around the world but i've never come
00:39across this one hurry oh god i didn't expect oh my god i'm so sorry come on billy if you carry on like
00:54this you're killing this dog with kindness oh you just got me good time's running out here
01:03something's got to change so sad luck what are you doing parking bandits beware if this works
01:12this will change their lives close the door cause mr hall
01:20she's proud of you gets every dog oh you'll have answers in a minute oh that's nice every time
01:26that's good testing graham's skills this week a german shepherd who's banned happy hour
01:39two spaniels going full meltdown when their dads make a dash for the door
01:46it's not working this is it and an oversized pup who takes their human for a walk she knocked you
01:53unconscious for a good five seconds i'm in the western suburbs of melbourne today and i'm here to see
02:11a german shepherd dog who by all accounts is a bit of a well a public health crusader german
02:17shepherd dogs have been used as police dogs well since forever but this one's decided to be the fun
02:23police
02:35seven-year-old german shepherd cora has a fear of beer it's okay
02:40yep you heard that right this pooch has imposed prohibition on jody and pk
02:51cora has always been loving and just a beautiful affectionate dog
02:56but she has become a bit of a party pooper
03:01i'm all for moderation but a full beer ban that's a surefire way to get you kicked out of family
03:08barbecues stop we're adults we can drink she'll start by staring at you and breathing become a
03:17little bit heavier cora sit and then she'll start barking and lodging at you and jumping on you
03:23and even biting you cora stop she beat me ouch risking life and limb could definitely cure a
03:33craving for a cold one good girl good girl i'd have gone with take cover
03:42she's a beautiful dog and we play with it all the time we just had one thing when it comes to beer
03:48that she cannot help herself but to try to get it off you cheese
03:55you can't have a gathering because she will
03:57i'm basically trying to attack whoever's holding the beer bottle wait no biting no biting right you're
04:06going people are refusing now to come over she's so normal you all right yeah yeah a bit sore she nipped
04:15you yeah she i feel terrible because she actually harmed him that was scary
04:22my greatest concern is she'll bite someone and we have to put her down i'd be devastated
04:34well i've come across all sorts of things around the world but i've never come across this one
04:40the thing about german shepherds is when they get a bit insistent about things they can be
04:45tricky i think that's the word for it tricky is one word emotionally complex is two
05:00hi graham nice to meet you all right how are you i've had a report that you've got a party pooper in
05:06your house a hundred percent come this way thank you very much hi hello hi nice meeting you guys nice
05:12meeting you pk pk here you go and this is kora hello kora you're nice the party pooper she looks
05:21like the most placid dog she's so placid do you want to have a drink that's it yeah so if you go
05:26for a beer she goes mad yeah she does yes so is it just bottles of beer then well if i have another
05:32drink in a glass not an issue she won't react at all what's it like if you just get a beer out the
05:39fridge well i'll get pk to show you because i'm too scared really is that bad it's bad it's getting
05:44really like i have signed my will to join everyone as i wear all right beer time
05:53she's watching here there we go thank you very much cheers you're not happy are you so look at
05:59those ears she's starting to she's starting to go it's only a bit yeah it's all it is
06:13and that's getting worse and worse until you put it away yeah i haven't even offered it yet yeah
06:18interesting she's racing forwards and then going backwards hey mind the upholstery
06:28let's put it away and see what happens then yeah yeah look she's coming down now
06:35good girl
06:38gora see you're all right really are you i'll tell you what though when she goes she looks terrifying
06:46it's not nice for her to see her so anxious but scary for you it's scary you jumped a mile i'm
06:52behind you yeah i know yeah thanks for that yeah i see what you did yeah when did she first start
06:59doing it can you remember when it first started yeah a few years ago there was this craze on tiktok
07:05i've got some footage would you like to see it oh let's have a look oh yeah it was my daughter
07:11you'd get two beer bottles together and you'd kick him up oh yeah and the leads would pop off
07:16she just bitled you see and everybody's laughing yeah yeah because at first it was funny
07:21she's not happy can you imagine that dog reaction that and you had a man here wearing one of those
07:28big padded socks that's the same dog behavior yeah she's like don't you dare don't do that don't do
07:35it so the reason cora reacts the way she does is that beer bottles thanks to that social media video
07:43make her nervous but she's got a way to counter it if she barks enough the bottles go away
07:49that makes her feel better and she's going to do that again and again
07:56oh but then another problem rears its head it seems cora's got two dislikes beer and brothers
08:07poor cole do you mind
08:09cora well if the reaction to bottles wasn't enough when cole came in and cora had his head
08:18in her mouth i'm like whoa here we go here's another problem soon as i touch him give him a
08:24little tickle she's like she gets so jealous i'm not having that she does get jealous yeah
08:30when she does do that we back off and we don't give the attention because we don't want to get bitten
08:34yes or we have to put her outside and give cole a pat oi blimey i'll tell you what i don't want
08:41to get me under now how do you visit us they don't come anymore they don't come anymore right
08:52it'd be nice if cora could just appreciate that we love both of them equally and she doesn't need
08:57to compete for our attention cora no but the reality is we have a monster on our hands who's super jealous
09:03and wants to rule everything i'll tell you what i'm worried about and it's that cole i think is
09:09starting to fight back and those are really powerful jaws a fight between a german shepherd and a staffie
09:16that is not something that you're ever going to want to or should ever have to see but at the moment
09:21the way things are going i think it's heading towards a reality coming up hey hey
09:28all right will graham be able to conquer cora's prohibition campaign no
09:38can this spaniel change his cavalier attitude
09:43and can the dog father untangle this leash pulling pointer howling screaming she's bonkers
10:04german shepherd cora runs a tight ship
10:08cora stop ouch she beat me beer bottles are banned and cuddles for cole outlawed
10:18i can see why i've been called in here because jody and pika are literally living in fear in their
10:22own home and i think even worse than that i just think there's this time bomb there of what happens
10:30when cole starts retaliating you just don't want to think about that do you something's got to change
10:36and quickly rayon's picking his battles and today it's bottles before brothers sorry cole we've got
10:45to deal with the cold ones first because cora is scared of what's going on with the bottles and what's
10:51in them you can't drop her in the deep end you've got to take your time so i think we need to break this
10:56down and and maybe just you know the presence of a bottle followed by a bottle moving then you pick
11:01it up and everything that goes with that process the thing that we need to do is reward of her not
11:08reacting and i'm not seeing that happening at the moment so graham's first lesson is when you obey
11:14you get a reward right i'll tell you what she's sitting i've got a tree right are you now what
11:22cora you've never done that before oh she not so if i put my hand down the natural thing to do is to
11:29follow my hand down what what we're learning is she quite likes an obedience game tell me what to do
11:37and i'll do it good eh oh don't encourage him time to see if cora can keep a lead on it
11:44when there's a bottle with a lid on it now put that there and leave it there good girl who's a
11:52clever girl down good girl right i'm going to bring that bottle in and move it there
12:02good girl she can definitely see that bottle yeah she's looking at it good girl what's she
12:10gonna do looks at the ball no watch sit no down oh good clever girl as well as teaching cora that good
12:24behavior gets rewarded the command down can also act as a circuit breaker distracting her from her beer
12:32fear sit good girl down yay good girl that's such a big change already okay bottles are allowed
12:49even graham's lemonade
12:53good girl cora's playing it cool for now but happy hour is never usually this quiet
13:00what will happen when those bottles are moved what we'll do now is we'll just carry on chatting we
13:05won't have a drink yet now
13:20bartender pk needs to ask for a raise get that man some danger money
13:25the problem i've got now is we've taken a step back with cora and i can kind of
13:33cope with that but i'm not just training cora i've now got two human beings who've got a bit
13:38deflated you know it was going really really well and then jody in particular really got a fright there
13:44and we've got to get back from that and even if we're not feeling confident we've got to act like it's
13:49fine we've got this and that is one of the hardest things to do when you've had a bit of a shock
13:55right okay let's let's press the reset button so we've had a bit of a setback but we're not down and
14:00out we'll try again we'll make it easy for everybody just by breaking that last step back down so what
14:07we're going to do now is pick a bottle any bottle yeah just move it that's a couple of centimeters
14:13yeah that's it graham's plan is to take things slowly that's it one small step at a time until
14:21jody and pk can at last take a sip in peace pick it up a little bit further
14:26jody do you want to lift it just a little bit put it back down there you go hey hey you've been very
14:37good so fast so not so scary just about up to your lips but not quite straight yeah that's it
14:44back down peaky
14:52and back down good girl that's super i think we should end on a high let's see if we can have a
15:01tiny little sip jody there you go there you are come on pq
15:10there you go finally
15:20we're there well that's amazing fantastic there you go good girl happy days
15:31high five there you go high five cora yay cora finally will no longer be the party pooper
15:40i think if they keep up the training maybe she goes from fun police it's a party animal
15:48right well i'll come back another time and we'll deal with this business of
15:52how she treats cole blessing well done thank you it's been a pleasure and you young lady be good see
16:00you next stop the stunning central coast sun sea and a fresh helping of dog drama and it's a case of
16:17deja vu i remember this place it's all beginning to look familiar i've been here before
16:22what are you gonna wear tinky you sure have graham remember a certain love story go on kissy
16:34dan had a series of strokes and was looking for a therapy pet to help during his recovery
16:39but tinker see ya see ya only had eyes for dan's husband will
16:45q graham part dog trainer part relationship counsellor what i've got to do is make you a
16:53bit less excited a bit calmer and i've got to get you to sort of lift things a little bit and finally
16:59dan got his cuddle back oh yeah that's great it was will's turn to feel the pangs of unrequited love
17:08let's just say i got a little bit jealous enter vincent the emotional rebound pup another lovable
17:16needy spaniel what could go wrong
17:20all right give me a cuddle book two years on and it's all tail wags and love hearts he's very cuddly
17:27i love that about him he's a big teddy bear until someone tries to leave
17:33no no no and then we have ourselves a hostage situation come on no no no no something switches
17:51inside of him that you can see the anxiety sinking in and the chaos just starts it's almost impossible
18:01to get outside the door this bad boy is having a bad effect on tinker too
18:09for people playing along at home vincent is in the beige bandana
18:17it's all right it's all right it's caused so much stress within our own relationship and
18:24we don't want to be fighting anymore we don't want to see the dogs so stressed
18:28we didn't help but all of us
18:42i'm on the central coast today north of sydney and i'm coming back to see two guys i've seen before
18:47will and dan it's a couple of years since i saw them but the last time they had a problem with their dog
18:53tinker but now they've got a new problem because they've got a new dog
19:00okay quick recap on the very tangled love life of this family dan loved tinker but tinker loved will
19:06then tinker loved dan then dan got lonely so he got vincent now vincent loves will too much and won't let
19:15him leave the house you're all right phew still with me i am extremely embarrassed calling graham for
19:21help i feel like he's going to say what have you done you've done it again dog father brutal honesty
19:30incoming
19:36thank you very much come on in you go
19:40well it's lovely to see the bond between you and tinker it's so great i must have done a good job
19:45there i think you did great and how have you been how's your health i've actually had another mini
19:52stroke so i sent me back a little bit yeah but everything's going well with me and tinker and
19:58she's been a big help with the recovery from that let's get this straight then so your dog
20:05yep i never thought we'd say that no no right your dog fine yeah your new dog will big problem
20:12whenever we want to leave the house vincent just goes berserk he will not stop barking i can't get out
20:20of the door and then he runs off the street oh great i'm really struggling to cope with the noise
20:26it hurts my head and that's affected me massively right well i hate to put you through it down but
20:33i need to see this barking let it be stated on the record now graham you asked for it i'll go out
20:41first yep you go out first yep
20:44you get out come here buddy stay
20:46go guys go guys come on stay there stay there stay there
20:51all right
20:53all right all right all right all right all right
20:55all right so then i go over here and i try to leave
20:58and this can go on for like 15 minutes
21:23go to the gate
21:44Neaton!
21:45Neaton!
21:47Come on.
21:48It's absolute chaos.
21:49He's giving me a headache, so I can only imagine the effect it has on Dan.
21:53Do you have him?
21:55Oh, my God.
21:59I'm well done.
22:01You're a bit out of breath.
22:02Can you see why we need help?
22:05Oh, my gosh.
22:05So that can happen.
22:09So, Will, why do you think that Vincent's doing this?
22:11Oh, like, part of me thinks it's separation anxiety.
22:15Like, he's just attached to us.
22:17How long do they keep it up, though?
22:19Do you know, once you've left?
22:21We put on the dog camera and, you know, we can see them
22:24and we hear them for a good ten minutes.
22:26Yeah.
22:27But then it stops?
22:28Pretty much it stops, but if someone walks by, they get triggered again.
22:31Yeah, right.
22:33It's clear to me that this behaviour is really affecting Will and Dan.
22:36Poor old Dan.
22:37He's recovering from another mini-stroke
22:39and it's bad enough for anybody without Dan's condition.
22:43The bottom line is this cannot continue like it is.
22:45I mean, these guys clearly love their dogs,
22:47but you've got to ask yourself the question,
22:49how long could you live like this?
22:52I'm thinking this isn't separation anxiety.
22:56It's just an awful lot of excitement going on, right?
22:59So the dogs are barking.
23:00Dan, you've gone outside.
23:01You're bashing the fly screen.
23:03Look here, look here, look here, so he can run out of the door.
23:05And it's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, look here, bash, bash, flying,
23:08and it's just like mayhem.
23:11It's mayhem.
23:11All that excitement is just like taking a champagne bottle,
23:15shaking it up.
23:16Yeah.
23:17And what we saw when he ran out of the door and escaped
23:20was that cork just went pop.
23:23And you try putting that cork back in the bottle.
23:26Not easy.
23:27I didn't realise that I was causing an issue.
23:31We both were making the situation worse,
23:33trying to distract Vincent to get out of the house.
23:37And, yeah, I feel like I've got a lot to learn.
23:41Graham's theory is that if he can fix bad boy Vincent,
23:45then Tinker will fall into line.
23:47So Dan and Tinker get a breather,
23:50while Graham does some intensive one-on-one training
23:52with Will and Vincent.
23:54We stand here, Tinker.
23:55Because sometimes love means knowing
23:58when to wear matching PJs
24:00and when to have some time apart.
24:03Today, we're going to ignore that barking.
24:06But when he goes quiet,
24:07we're going to reward that silence.
24:09We're going to go back to him,
24:11because that's what he wants,
24:12and we'll give him a treat as well.
24:13So bonus feature, the treat.
24:15But the real reward is us going back.
24:18He thinks if he barks,
24:19he slows everybody down and you don't go.
24:22And he's right to some extent.
24:23Yeah.
24:23So we're going to take all the excitement out of it
24:26and we're going to start with us outside.
24:28He'll be at the door barking, I expect, right?
24:31OK.
24:31We're going to ignore him.
24:32So we're actually going to face away from the door.
24:35We're going to have to just let him bark, right?
24:37So he barks and he barks.
24:38When he stops, that's when the good stuff happens.
24:40We turn round, we go back to him and give him a treat.
24:43Yep.
24:44If we do it a few times,
24:45I think he's going to see the pattern.
24:46Barking, not working.
24:47Being quiet gets me the good stuff.
24:49Right, come on, Vince.
24:52All right.
24:54Good boy.
24:57OK, Will, come on through.
25:01All right.
25:02That's it.
25:03There you go.
25:06That's it.
25:07Whoa.
25:09Right.
25:10If you turn round, that's it.
25:11So as long as he's barking,
25:13we're ignoring him, right?
25:14OK.
25:14This might take a while.
25:20Or four seconds.
25:24I don't believe it.
25:25It's too soon.
25:28No, maybe not.
25:29OK, turn round.
25:30Tell him he's a good boy.
25:32And you can open the door and give him a treat.
25:36Hey.
25:39Good boy.
25:40That's it, Vincent.
25:41Pretend to be a good boy.
25:43Lull them into a false sense of security.
25:47Oh, you bugger.
25:48And then make your move.
25:50Three.
25:51Three.
25:52As soon as there's a bit of a gap in the door,
25:54he's gone.
25:55Come on.
25:56Vincent's playing the long game.
25:58Graham knows it.
25:59Vincent.
26:00And he's ready.
26:07Come on, buddy.
26:08Come on.
26:09Will is living under house arrest.
26:12Enforced by a small, shouty spaniel.
26:15But escape artist Vincent has been playing fast and loose with Graham's training.
26:22Oh, you bugger.
26:24Well caught.
26:25The dog father's going to need all the tricks from his cravat for this little hairy Houdini.
26:31So what he's got to understand is, if he runs out, not allowed.
26:35Okay.
26:35Bring him back.
26:36Right?
26:36So he's only getting a treat, if you think about it, when he's that side of the threshold.
26:39Yeah.
26:40So, barking, no.
26:42Running out, no.
26:43Staying put, yes.
26:44Being quiet, yes.
26:49Ah, he's tried something else now.
26:51I'll bite me way through the fly screen.
26:52I mean, this is a lot better than before, but he can do better than that, so.
27:08Right, that is really good.
27:10Really quiet.
27:10I think you'll go back to him.
27:12Good boy.
27:14There you go, mate.
27:15Good boy.
27:16That's better.
27:18Good.
27:18Go to the end now.
27:27He's lying down.
27:29It doesn't get better than that, does it?
27:31With Vincent looking angelic, Graham decides to take it to the next stage.
27:37Let's see if we can do the same thing with two dogs.
27:39Okay.
27:40In theory, it should be all right.
27:43I'm feeling a bit nervous, but willing to give it a go.
27:45Time to test Graham's theory.
27:50Vincent's on the straight and narrow.
27:52Will Tinker play a lot or blow the whole operation?
27:56Okay.
27:57Let's stand here, then.
27:58Let's see what he does.
28:01This is a lot better than before.
28:03Yeah.
28:04Right.
28:05I think we'll go back and give him a treat.
28:06All right.
28:07Stay there.
28:08There you go.
28:10Lovely.
28:11There you go.
28:12There you go.
28:13Very nice.
28:14How good is that?
28:16That's brilliant, isn't it?
28:17That's good.
28:17That's really good.
28:18Tinker has followed Vincent, so he's quiet, she's quiet.
28:23I think it's time to get Dan, show him what we've done.
28:27The final test.
28:29Can Dan make it out the door without a headache?
28:32There you go.
28:33Very good girl.
28:34Sit.
28:35Here we go buggy.
28:37Oh, look at that.
28:38Very good.
28:39How about that?
28:40All right.
28:41There you go.
28:42With neither of the dads left inside.
28:46Good boy.
28:47Has Graham done enough to keep their wolf from the door?
28:56Quiet.
28:57It's quiet.
29:00Hey, I tell you what, you couldn't do this this morning, could you?
29:03Being able to walk out the door and not have Vincent go off?
29:10Mind-blowing.
29:11Are they our dogs?
29:13Yeah, where's our dogs?
29:14Yeah, it's good, isn't it?
29:16I think it's a happy ending here on the Central Coast.
29:19A couple of nice guys.
29:21Nice dogs.
29:23It's been a good day.
29:24Let's just hope they don't get a third dog.
29:31Without a shadow of a doubt, your behaviour will affect your dog's behaviour and demeanour.
29:37We shouldn't really be surprised that if we're looking really anxious about something, our dog gets anxious about it as well.
29:44I think there's an awful lot of misinformation about leadership and dominance and all that kind of thing.
29:49And being a good leader, whether we're talking about humans or dogs, actually, is not about dominance.
29:55It's not about bullying or anything like that.
29:57But sometimes it's a really good feeling when somebody else takes the lead and says,
30:02Hey, hey, I know how this works.
30:04Follow me.
30:05Yeah, right.
30:08From a barky shepherd to clingy cavaliers, Graham's next stop is a German short-haired pointer who has a lot to say for herself.
30:19Ooh!
30:21Righto.
30:22I guess that was welcome in German dog language.
30:26It's true.
30:27Hello!
30:28You're full of beans, aren't you?
30:30Yeah.
30:31Hey?
30:31We want to play, do we?
30:34Come here.
30:35Ooh, she listens to you.
30:37Not all the time.
30:38No, all right.
30:39Only here.
30:39This is a comfort zone, so out there, it's a different story.
30:42What happens when you go out there?
30:44Well, basically, I can't walk her.
30:52Six-year-old German short-haired pointer Sia is no walk in the park.
30:57Stop.
30:58In fact, she and her stressed-out mum Fizz usually don't make it that far.
31:04We'll step outside, and it will start the lunging, the pulling, the howling.
31:11Sia.
31:12Walk in between the legs.
31:16Stop.
31:20Let me just stop for a minute.
31:24She kills me.
31:25Walks with Sia have been leaving their mark on Fizz.
31:37And then I'll get bruises from my cars.
31:41Sorry.
31:42I'm just really...
31:43..upset right now.
31:47These walks on the wild side are an everyday nightmare for Fizz.
31:57Stop.
31:58And she's desperate for Graeme's help.
32:01She's got this real thing about going between your legs, doesn't she?
32:03Yes.
32:04So I don't know if it's fear.
32:06No.
32:07Well, German short-haired pointer's going to be a bit full-on.
32:11But Sia's, like...
32:13..bonkers.
32:14You don't need a harness, you need rings.
32:17You've got to ask, why is this happening?
32:20Is this a really nervous dog?
32:23Or is it a sort of combination of things?
32:25There are more questions than answers right now.
32:27It's affected me a lot.
32:32People say to re-home her, she'll be better elsewhere,
32:36but I don't want to do that.
32:39Sia is very important to me.
32:41I love her to bits.
32:43But if this can't be fixed, I have to put her up for adoption.
32:51You look close to Sia, isn't it?
32:52Yes.
32:52You don't mind me saying it.
32:53Yeah.
32:54Yeah.
32:55Every walk is stressful.
32:57I'm amazed you've not been pulled over.
32:59Oh, I have.
33:00Ah.
33:01One time, she wrapped the lead around my legs.
33:05Oh, right.
33:05And I went straight into the gutter.
33:07Yeah.
33:08She knocked you unconscious.
33:10I was out for a good five seconds.
33:11Where, where?
33:12Yeah.
33:12Blimey.
33:14Is she like this with every member of the family?
33:16Hubby doesn't walk her.
33:19He had a motorbike accident.
33:21Oh, dear.
33:21A couple of years ago, broke his leg.
33:23And he hasn't been able to walk her
33:26at all for the last two years.
33:28Right.
33:29So it falls to you, really?
33:30Yeah.
33:31Has she always been this bad?
33:32As a puppy, she wasn't too bad.
33:35But the last couple of years, it's progressed.
33:38Right.
33:38That's interesting.
33:39I really feel for Fizz, because her walk is just no fun at all.
33:45Given how extreme this is, no wonder she looks emotionally exhausted.
33:49But I'm feeling sorry for Sia as well, because she never gets as far as the park,
33:54because the walk gets abandoned because of the way she behaves.
33:56We need to do something, don't we?
34:00Coming up...
34:01Hey.
34:02Can Graham succeed in teaching Fizz confidence and control?
34:06Don't look nervous.
34:07She'll realise.
34:08Can we fail?
34:08No.
34:09Project confidence, remember?
34:12And can the dog father end the uncivil war brewing...
34:16She's blowing it right.
34:17...between siblings Cole and Cora?
34:19Six-year-old German short-haired pointer Sia goes loco on a leash.
34:32She kills me.
34:34She's so out of control, she's knocked mum Fizz into unconsciousness.
34:39She wrapped the lead around my leg.
34:42Oh, right.
34:43And I went straight into the gutter.
34:45Blimey.
34:45I was out for a good five seconds.
34:47But Graham's already got a read on both ends of the lead.
34:52So what is going on with Sia?
34:53Well, I think it's a mash-up of a couple of things.
34:56Yes, I do think she's a slightly nervy dog,
34:59but I also think she's really pent up.
35:02She really desperately needs a run around.
35:05Since she's been restricted from that, she's got worse and worse,
35:09and the worse you feel about it, because it's clearly wearing you down,
35:13the less confidence you have, the less confident she is.
35:17It's kind of like a negative feedback loop.
35:21Whereas if we can turn it round,
35:23and I can give you a few techniques that give you a bit of control,
35:26and confidence comes from that feeling of having a bit of control, isn't it?
35:30Mm-hm.
35:30Then she can get to the park and have a walk, well, you know, proper run around.
35:34The aim is to get Sia calm enough to make it to the park,
35:38where the pent-up pooch can burn off her bags of energy.
35:42To achieve that, Fizz needs to learn confidence and control.
35:48Not to worry.
35:48Graham has a plan, a four-point plan.
35:53Right, let's talk about lesson number one,
35:56project confidence, or rather, project confidence,
35:59because this is all about appearing to be confident,
36:03even if you're not, right?
36:04Or fake it till you make it.
36:07Welcome to Showbiz, guys.
36:09When we get nervous, the whole body language changes, right?
36:12So we go from, I haven't got a care in the world,
36:15to, like, this, you know?
36:17So we kind of get tight, we hunch them.
36:20And dogs pick up on body language.
36:23But if you can go now, from here, let's say, to that lamppost,
36:26with not a care in the world, like the Queen of Melbourne, you know?
36:31OK.
36:31If you can do that, when you've got a dog,
36:34we're probably halfway there.
36:35All right.
36:36So do you want to have a practice with Airtat?
36:37Give it a go.
36:38Yeah?
36:38Yeah.
36:38Off you go.
36:40We're looking for a mix of strut and swag.
36:43I think she's nailing it.
36:46Oh, yeah.
36:48That's more the part.
36:50That's it.
36:51Nice.
36:54She's impressed.
36:55Yes.
36:57The other three points are standard issue, Graham.
37:01Keep the lead shorter, but loose.
37:04That's it.
37:04Come on.
37:05Keep the dog on one side only.
37:07And say good girl when she is actually a good girl.
37:12Good girl.
37:14Good girl.
37:15Graham's talk the talk.
37:17Now it's time for Fizz to walk the walk.
37:20Do you want to go?
37:22OK.
37:24Don't look nervous.
37:25She'll realise.
37:26Can we fail?
37:26No.
37:27Project confidence, remember?
37:28Yeah.
37:28But if she follows all the rules and she can keep her confidence up, I think she'll do just fine.
37:37But there is a lot that can go wrong.
37:44So far, so good.
37:46That's it.
37:54Come here.
37:54Here.
37:55Right.
37:57Ah, ah, ah.
37:59Oh, hang on.
38:00Stop.
38:03Hey.
38:04All right.
38:05See ya.
38:09Come on.
38:10This isn't just about training a dog and going, there you go, job done.
38:16It's about training the person as well.
38:18Fizz has got to keep that confident look.
38:21Right.
38:22One more time, Fizz.
38:23This time.
38:24Just try and lift your head up a bit.
38:26You're a bit like this.
38:29And I'd rather you were a bit more like that.
38:31Yeah, OK.
38:31Does that make sense?
38:32Lovely.
38:38Nice upright posture.
38:42Ah.
38:43That's it.
38:44Come on.
38:44Keep going.
38:46Very good.
38:47Very good.
38:50Ooh, Fizz.
38:51I think you've got it.
38:52By Jove, I think she's got it.
38:55Ah, I just said that, Graham.
38:58Good girl.
38:58You put a few simple lessons in place and that's what you get.
39:04Amaze.
39:05As young people say, I believe.
39:08Lovely.
39:09I think we can say that that is ticking all the boxes.
39:13Good girl.
39:14Oh, well done, Fizz.
39:15Yay.
39:16That's brilliant.
39:17Yay.
39:17Good girl.
39:18Now, that is a woman calmly and happily walking her dog under control, isn't it?
39:22Look at that.
39:24Absolutely wonderful.
39:26I can't believe the turnaround.
39:27Look at that.
39:28Good girl.
39:35Well done.
39:36Put it there.
39:38Congratulations.
39:38I thought that was fantastic.
39:40Honestly, it couldn't have been better.
39:42Congratulations.
39:43There you go.
39:44One afternoon.
39:45Beautiful.
39:45It's good, isn't it?
39:46I am proud to see her today.
39:49She did really well.
39:50Greg was a big help.
39:51I was using long techniques to walk her.
39:56Come on.
39:57Good girl.
39:58For me, this case hasn't been so much about just the dog behavior, as extreme as that was.
40:09It was about an owner and their emotions and the way that the dog's behavior had dragged her down.
40:15Good girl.
40:16Good girl.
40:17And now, she doesn't look downbeat at all.
40:19She looks really happy.
40:21I can see the future being very bright.
40:23Let's hope Sia finally makes it to the park and gets her run without Fizz getting the run around.
40:31For the last task of the week, Graham's staying in Melbourne.
40:39He's headed back to Jodie and PK's.
40:42S***.
40:43Where he still has to stop Bossy Boots Cora.
40:45Cora.
40:46Bullying her baby brother Cole.
40:48Last time I was here, I only had Cora to train, but this time I've got Cora and I've got Cole.
40:55And if Cole starts fighting back, we could be in big trouble here.
41:01Now, down.
41:07Good.
41:08After helping Cora with her beer bottle phobia...
41:11High five, Cora.
41:13Yay!
41:14Graham's back to take on the doggy despot once again.
41:18He hopes to stop this green-eyed monster from attacking her baby brother Cole whenever the poor pooch wants a cuddle.
41:25Cora. No Cora.
41:28How's things?
41:29Yeah, going really well.
41:30Yeah?
41:30Amazing.
41:31Life-changing.
41:32Yeah?
41:32Good.
41:32Well, let's hope it will be, yeah.
41:34Yes.
41:34Well, look, today, this business about Cora having a go at Cole.
41:38Cora's doing what she's doing because she wants all the attention.
41:40Yes.
41:41It needs to stop, I think.
41:42So I've got an idea.
41:44When she puts a bad behaviour.
41:45When she puts Cole's head in her mouth, maybe we make sure she doesn't get attention, we put her out of the house.
41:52Now, when she's calmed down, she can come in and try again.
41:55So the consequence for bad behaviour.
41:56So the consequence for bad behaviour is you've lost all of the attention.
42:00The dog father has a simple approach.
42:03Bite the bro, you've got to go.
42:05We'll give Cole a bit of fuss and then if Cora plays up, I'm sure she will, it's going to be, Cora, time out, through the door, when she calms down.
42:16Okay, try again.
42:17Where's Cole?
42:19Where's Cole?
42:19There's Cole.
42:20Oh, boy.
42:22Cora, down, down.
42:24All right, Cora, out.
42:25Yeah, time out.
42:26Cora, time out.
42:28That's it.
42:29But not here.
42:29Cole, stay.
42:30Cole, stay.
42:31Cora, out.
42:32That's it.
42:33Wait.
42:34All right, stay.
42:35Come, Cole.
42:36Good boy.
42:39Sorry, Cora, but if you do the crime, you have to do the time.
42:44Well, the time out, anyway.
42:46He likes a bum scratch.
42:48He does.
42:51She's giving up on bad behaviour.
42:53So, we can let her back in.
42:55So, let's see what happens, yeah.
42:57I think I know what will happen because I'm now giving Cole a little bit of fuss.
43:01Cora, come in.
43:04Oh, he's been a boy.
43:07Oh, a little sniff.
43:10I'm all right with that.
43:11Okay, let's see what she does next.
43:13Good boy.
43:14Good boy.
43:17Right.
43:18Time out.
43:19Time out, Cora.
43:20Out.
43:20That's it.
43:21Come on, Cora.
43:22Out.
43:22Out.
43:23Out.
43:24Out.
43:25Out.
43:25Yeah, well, you can answer back, but you're blowing it.
43:28Out.
43:29Out.
43:30She's like, what?
43:31You forgot Cole.
43:32Yeah.
43:32Blum, blum, blum, blum.
43:34What's the saying, if at first you don't succeed?
43:37Oh, ah.
43:38She's blowing it right.
43:40That's it.
43:40Cora, out.
43:41Tell all the neighbours about it.
43:44He's having a right old tantrum now, isn't he?
43:48And then realise maybe the man in the cravat has a point.
43:52Oh, good girl.
43:54Got me.
43:55All right, let's see what she does.
43:58Oh, good girl.
43:59She walks right past him.
44:01Good girl.
44:03There you go.
44:03That was better.
44:04Yeah, that's it.
44:06She may make a couple more mistakes, but she's a clever dog.
44:09Yeah, she is.
44:10Pretty quickly, she's going to go, oh, I get it.
44:13I just have to not bite the other dog.
44:15Correct.
44:16Good girl, Cora.
44:18A picture of domestic harmony.
44:22Today, Cora's learned that she doesn't have to take matters into her own hands.
44:26If she just calms down, everybody's going to love her.
44:29Everybody's going to give her loads of fuss, and she ain't losing out.
44:32It is literally a win-win.
44:34A win-win sounds like a win, but that's not the dog father's style.
44:40Yeah, grab a seat, lads.
44:41Graham is trying his luck by inviting the boys around.
44:45There we go.
44:49Wow, that's...
44:50The girl, Cora.
44:53We're now believers of Graham.
44:56Our saviour.
44:59For Jodie and PK, I think the effect is going to be huge.
45:02They can have people round, they don't have to be scared by the dogs.
45:06People can have a drink if they want to.
45:08I think life's going to be just so much easier.
45:20On the central coast, all is calm.
45:23See you, buddy.
45:24Well, almost.
45:26See you, Tinga.
45:27Good job.
45:29Good job.
45:30Good job.
45:30Good job.
45:32We just wanted to say a massive thank you to Graham from the bottom of our heart.
45:36You've been here twice now for different reasons.
45:39There they go.
45:40Not perfect, but it's better.
45:42We're just really thankful for setting up the foundation to have an easier life.
45:48Will and Dan are no longer prisoners in their own home.
45:52Overall, it's going really well.
45:53In Melbourne, Fizz has been working hard on Project Confidence.
46:06Or is that Project Confidence?
46:09I've been able to walk her by my side on one side for most of our walks.
46:16She's getting a lot more exercise.
46:18She seems a bit happier.
46:20But she's doing really well.
46:22She's doing really well.
46:23So we've been able to get close to the dog park.
46:27But we are keeping up the training.
46:29So it's a work in progress.
46:31It's going to be a slow one.
46:32But we'll get there slowly, but surely we'll get there.
46:38And as for Cora...
46:40Now we can actually have a drink without Cora reacting.
46:45It's beautiful.
46:46Beautiful.
46:47Peace and love.
46:48Next time on Dogs Behaving Very Badly...
46:54Oh, Marley, no!
46:56The very hungry Labrador on a seafood diet...
46:59Stop.
47:01Graham boldly goes where he's never been before...
47:04Wow.
47:05They weren't kidding when they said it was vast, the interior.
47:08To help a country music DJ with a rambunctious staffy...
47:12And the family desperate for an exorcism.
