00:00A group of 14 West African nationals has been deported from the United States to Ghana,

00:06marking the latest action under a controversial agreement between the two nations.

00:10This brings a total number of deportees accepted by the Ghanaian government to 42.

00:15Oliver Barker Vomaror, a lawyer representing the migrants,

00:19announced that his organization Democracy Hub has filed a lawsuit seeking to block this arrangement.

00:25The lawsuit claims that the agreement with the U.S. is unconstitutional,

00:28as it was not approved by the Ghanaian parliament

00:32and could potentially violate international conventions

00:35that prohibit sending individuals to countries where they may face persecution.

00:40Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye of Osu stated that the Attorney General will defend the arrangement in court,

00:46but refrained from further comments under the Trump administration,

00:50there has been a notable increase in the deportation of migrants,

00:54particularly those with the criminal records.

00:56This move is part of a larger secretive program involving agreements with the multiple African countries

01:02to accept deportees.
