00:01Hundreds of Malawi nationals gathered outside their country's embassy in Johannesburg on
00:07Tuesday as the forced return of migrants continued. This comes as South African officials said on
00:15Sunday that they had deported or repatriated more than 53,000 African immigrants in the space of
00:21a month.
00:23My brother, I can't tell you lie. He is not fine. You see where people are sleeping. You can't get
00:30it. Even here you get a woman. Women you have with kids. And you're going to see you're safe
00:37here. And the people is getting food for Mahara. Other people don't like a bot for that. So we
00:47need only help to ask government so you can get help us to go back to my country. That's
00:53it.
00:56Waiting in line was Bashil Austin who called on the government of his country to help people
01:01like him who feel threatened by the situation in South Africa and want to return home.
01:11South Africans are chasing us away. They say we are taking their jobs. They say we are
01:16stealing their jobs. We must go back to our country.
01:23I'm asking the Malawi government to continue sending more buses and also help other Malawi
01:28nationals.
01:33According to South African justice minister, over 80 percent of the immigrants sent home
01:38were from Malawi. Several African countries have provided transport to bring their citizens
01:44home during the surge in anti-immigrant sentiment that sparked some attacks against foreigners
01:49and left part of South Africa on edge.
