00:01Welcome to our deep dive into the Phoenix Suns exciting new era. As the NBA season approaches
00:06in just 8 days, Tim Bontemps from ESPN has evaluated the core trios of all 30 teams,
00:13categorizing the Phoenix Suns as being in the starting a rebuild phase, which is the 9th tier
00:18out of 10. Bontemps not only considered the upcoming 2025-26 season but also assessed the
00:25longevity of a team's core trio. For the Suns he identified Devin Booker, Ryan Dunn, and Common
00:32Malawak as their key players, notably leaving out Jalen Green and Mark Williams. Dunn and Malawak
00:38are likely seen as essential components alongside Booker, as they are viewed as foundational players
00:43for constructing a competitive team in the future. Bontemps points out that Green, who is the second
00:49highest paid player on the Suns roster with a salary of $33 million this season, could be a
00:55candidate for trade if the team aims to reduce its payroll and acquire draft picks. Green was
01:02part of the trade that brought Kevin Durant to the Suns and is under contract for the next two years,
01:07with a player option for the 2027-28 season. At just 23 years old, he remains a significant asset
01:15for the team. During his four seasons with the Houston Rockets, he averaged 20.1 points per game.
01:21This summer, the Phoenix Suns acquired Williams 23 in a trade with the Charlotte Hornets. As a
01:27restricted free agent at the end of the season, he was obtained shortly after the Suns used their
01:3210th overall pick from Houston to select another center, Malawak. The departure of veteran players
01:38has created opportunities for younger talent within the Suns organization. Last season, the Suns were the
01:45oldest team in the league, with an average player age of 28.4 years. Currently, they have only one
01:51player on their roster who is over 30 years old. Durant, Bradley Beal, and Tyus Jones were the top
01:58three players in terms of minutes played per game after Booker last season. With all three having left
02:03the team this offseason, there are numerous minutes available for other players to step up. Dunn, who
02:08averaged 6.9 points per game in his rookie season, played the fifth most minutes per game last year
02:14among the players still on the Suns roster and is expected to see an increase in his playing time
02:19this season. Luach becomes a member of the team following a single season at Duke, where he recorded
02:25an average of 8.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, achieving an impressive shooting percentage
02:31of 71%. Do you believe the Suns' young core has what it takes to rise faster than expected?
