00:28We're getting picked up by the guy that's taking us to the Star Lodge
00:31but we have to take all of our bags so I have my day pack for the Star Lodge
00:34and then I have this bag, this bag, and this bag.
00:38I'm like, ridiculous right now.
00:41We are on the bus headed to the Star Lodge.
00:46He's trying to get out of it.
00:48All the traffic in Urbamba.
00:50Then, when we arrive in the base camp, one of the guys will give you the safety to talk about the technical equipment.
00:56Upon arriving at the base camp, we were given a quick safety briefing
00:59and then we geared up to start the trek up the mountain.
01:03You ready?
01:05Super ready.
01:07We're going all the way up there.
01:10Lauren always sized me up for weird stuff.
01:13This view is beautiful.
01:14The river.
01:16I'm so thankful that it is not storming because it was supposed to storm
01:20and that feels like such a blessing.

01:23The cable of the lifeline, you have to be attached to the boat carabiner.
01:28The steel cable is divided by section according to the difficult.
01:33It's at two or three meters.

02:01We just dropped my brother off in pod number five.
02:04My aunt and uncle are hopefully safely in there,
02:06so now we just have to continue up to pod number six.

02:13Oh, solid ground.
02:15I'm so grateful that Garrett did it because he's afraid of heights,
02:19and he let me get the highest pod.
02:23The best view from the whole pod happens to be from the toilet.
02:28It's a great view of the river and Sacred Valley.
02:34We have a little mirror, some toilet paper, soap, running water.
02:42Maybe.
02:43I can figure out how to do it.
02:44There it goes.
02:45And then here's Garrett frantically unpacking his backpack.
02:50And here is where we will be sleeping tonight.
02:55We have this closed just because the sun's, like, really aggressive,
02:59but such an awesome view of everything,
03:03and we are the highest pod, so we can have everything open,
03:06and we don't have to worry about anybody looking at us.
03:08But we can definitely creep down on my family.
03:14So in that pod right there is my brother,
03:17and there is my aunt and uncle.
03:19You have hot water.
03:20This guy over here, they give you filtered cold water.
03:23Here is all of the tea and sugar and stuff.
03:26This is our walkie-talkie.
03:27So you can theoretically just call if you need something
03:30or if you're having an emergency,
03:32which really is a nice peace of mind that, you know,
03:34you can call for help, and someone can come help you down
03:36or come get to you or bring you what you need.
03:38Okay, so one thing you're probably wondering is,
03:40how does your stuff get up here, and what do you bring?
03:43We brought our day packs here.
03:45So I have just, like, the 22-liter day pack.
03:48And then inside, I probably have a little bit more than I need.
03:52We have this.
03:52It's a dry bag.
03:53So we got super lucky.
03:55It was supposed to completely thunderstorm on us, like, this entire day.
03:59Like, the weather forecast was literal thunderstorms,
04:02and I thought that we were potentially going to die.
04:04And in here, we have all of our chargers.
04:07So our GoPro bag, our portable charger that we're going to use to charge our phones,
04:12as well as just some extra little tech stuff.
04:17I have a rain jacket and rain pants.
04:21I have this bag, which is full of extra clothes.
04:27So I brought in here my glasses so that I can see.
04:31A swimsuit, because we're about to go to the hot tub.
04:33And then I just have some comfies to sleep in,
04:37because I really just like the idea of sleeping in clean clothes,
04:41even though Garrett did not.
04:43And I can smell them in here.
04:44All I brought are the clothes on my body, and I completely sweated through everything.
04:48So I'm just going to wear the same underwear, same socks, same pants, same shirt.
04:51Contact solutions, inhalers, because I have asthma.
04:54And the Diamox that I'm taking, because we are starting our trek to Machu Picchu tomorrow.
04:58Unexpectedly early, but got to keep taking the Diamox.
05:01And then just a little bag of toiletries, some face wash, toothpaste, a little miniature brush,
05:08deodorant, some dry shampoo, because I don't think I'm going to shower for six days.
05:12I also have a little cover for the bag.
05:15This is just like a little duck back that you can put over your bag if it's going to rain to keep everything dry inside.
05:22Clearly, I was very worried about everything getting wet.
05:23And then I brought a little water bottle.
05:24The last thing I brought, I know that I'm going to want to enjoy all of the views at night,
05:29but just in case the light pours in, it's too bright, or there is a thunder and lightning storm that I don't want to see,
05:34I brought an eye mask to help me sleep.
05:36So that is the contents of my bag.
05:39I'm probably going to make it much lighter for this trek down to the hot tub,
05:42but really excited to go check that out and take in the view.
05:46Let's go to the hot tub.
05:47All right, time to go to the hot tub.
05:59A little more cautious on the way down than I was the way up.
06:05I was looking up at the wall.
06:08I don't know how well Garrett's doing up there.
06:12Well, it's okay.
06:13I just have to do this again one more time.
06:16One more time.
06:16Guys, this is a bath.
06:24This is a towel for you.
06:26By the time we made it down from the highest pod,
06:28my aunt, uncle, and brother had already started the party.
06:31Garrett and I jumped in to join the fun,
06:33and we hung out here for about an hour until it got dark.
06:37This is an amazing fine one.
06:39So after you finish in the hot tub,
06:40they have this area for you to take a shower,
06:42and then they have this nice little bathroom area,
06:47lots of towels,
06:48and they give you this bag to put your swimsuit in,
06:51and you can take it out with you.
06:56We got some pumpkin soup.
06:58For you, it's a passion-free juice or water.
07:02Would you like water or passion-free juice, maybe?
07:04Yeah, we did them.
07:06Yeah, that's the juice.
07:08That was good.
07:12Are you done with the seats?
07:13Yes.

07:22I might be sleeping right here.
07:25But despite the scary sounds,
07:26we knew we had to go back up,
07:28so we geared up and got ready for the climb in the dark.

08:32Everybody is safely and securely in their pods,
08:36except for me and Garrett.

08:52He's six foot four.
08:53And I will say, if you look at my hands,
08:55I'm five foot two and everything seems to be right at my hand height
08:58and not at his hand height.
09:01And he hates heights,
09:02but I think he's doing great.

09:43for the third time was pretty tough.

09:49and then I'm going to get down as fast as possible.

09:57We're 0 for 2 on the star situation.
10:01This is our first time staying on a cliff dangling pod,
10:05but we did stay in these domes
10:07in the Wadi Rum Desert in Jordan,
10:09and there was clouds that night,
10:11and we didn't get to see any stars,
10:12and I think same thing.
10:15But this is still such an incredible experience.
10:18Feels like right now the coolest thing I've ever done.
10:21Probably will still feel that way for a long time,
10:23but this has been really awesome,
10:25and I'm so thankful to my family
10:28that agreed to do this with me.
10:33They do offer wine and beer,
10:36but I think I'm just going to settle with this tea.
10:39I'm going to drink this, go to bed,
10:41and hopefully find some stars.
10:49Do I have, like, a little hairbrush or something?
10:51Good morning from the master bedroom suite.
10:56This is where we slept.
10:58I did not sleep great because I kept waking up like,
11:02I don't know, my body kept waking up
11:03and, like, realizing I was on a cliff.
11:05I ended up sleeping okay eventually,
11:06but the stars are out.
11:08Yeah, we got stars.
11:09I was so happy about that.
11:11I woke up, well, I think Garrett started tossing and turning,
11:13and then I woke up,
11:14and I looked up, and I could see all of the stars.
11:16So at first, I was a little mad at him for waking up,
11:18but then I was happy that I could see all of the stars
11:20because they were everywhere,
11:22and we could see them out of all of the windows,
11:23and it was really awesome.
11:24So while we're waiting for everyone else to wake up
11:27because we can see them out this window,
11:28and they're still sleeping,
11:30I can see my brother.
11:31Look at him sleeping down there in his jacket.
11:33How's he cold?
11:36You could just see everyone's head sleeping.
11:39Let's answer some questions
11:41about things we wanted to know before we came here
11:44that we couldn't necessarily find online.
11:46Question number one,
11:48is there heating and air conditioning in the pods?
11:51There is not.
11:52However, there is windows on all sides of the pods,
11:55so if it's warm, you can open up
11:56and you get a nice cross breeze.
11:58Also, when you're sleeping,
11:59if it's cold,
12:01there's, like, a comforter,
12:02another blanket,
12:04a sheet,
12:05and then there's more blankets.
12:06So you shouldn't be worried.
12:08Like, I was completely warm,
12:10and I sleep like I normally would
12:11in an air-conditioned home.
12:13Is there electricity?
12:15There is no plug-ins for your electronics
12:18that I have found, at least.
12:19However, there's some lights,
12:21probably on some batteries.
12:22So there are a few overhead lights
12:24that you can see when it's really dark.
12:25I am laughing because my brother's phone died,
12:27and he's been in that pod for, like, hours,
12:29so he has no clue what time it is.
12:30It's been, like, this bright,
12:31it's, like,
12:33it's probably, like, 6.30 right now.
12:34It's been this bright since, like,
12:35like, 4 a.m.
12:37So I don't,
12:39he's probably so confused.
12:40He has no idea what's happening.
12:42Does the toilet flush,
12:44or is it a composting toilet?
12:45The toilet flushes.
12:46There's running water.
12:48So it's kind of, like,
12:49business as usual
12:49in the restroom department.

13:33because in every video we have
13:35where we ask you how you're doing,

13:38and then my body was, like,
13:39had adrenaline rush,
13:40like, oh, I'm sleeping
13:40on the side of the cliff.
13:41And then I fall back asleep,
13:42but yeah, overall good.
13:45It's freaking out coming down today.
13:48A beautiful view
13:49for some morning coffee
13:52and these cute cups.
13:56I'm never going to take
13:57the ground for granted again.
13:58I can't wait to sleep
13:59in a tent for four nights.

14:22Overall, this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience
14:25and we have to shout out
14:26the amazing staff that work
14:27at the Star Lodge.
14:28If you have the opportunity
14:29to stay the night there,
14:30you should definitely do it.
14:32And finally, we highly recommend
14:33the photography and drone package.
14:35We laughed so hard at these shots.
14:38What I really wanted
14:38when he had me standing on top
14:40was just like some cool shots of me
14:42like pulling on wires.
14:43But instead, he got something like this.
