00:00Do you know what you are to this station?
00:02One of the 10 to 2 guys.
00:04That's underselling it.
00:06That's underselling it.
00:07That's what I am.
00:08You're the emotional leader of this station.
00:11You're the emotional leader of this station.
00:14And so what a perfect time.
00:16Why did I get warm?
00:18I felt like I had pants in it.
00:21I got ready to hit somebody.
00:23That's because you're the emotional leader of this station.
00:26That's how you run.
00:28That's how you run.
00:30Oh, man.
00:30The other five of us aren't doing mock pregame speeches.
00:34Shasky runs hot, too, though.
00:35Shasky runs hot.
00:37I can run.
00:38Dibs runs hot.
00:39People, whatever.
00:40Shady, too.
00:41Sure.
00:41There you go.
00:44There you go.
00:45Nobody else gets as emotionally invested into what's happening on our television sets.
00:53You are great.
00:54So talk to me about emotion because I know what happens.
00:59On a day like today, we're going to flash forward like expectations.
01:04And I'm trying not to, Will.
01:05Well, but I just want to take some time with our listeners, the 49er fans out there, and
01:09talk about and hear about the emotions of today.
01:14That's deep.
01:15What do you feel?
01:16What do you feel?
01:16Sadness.
01:17And it really, truly is sadness.
01:21And also, there is, the word I'm looking for is, not woe is me, Willard, but when Bosa
01:29went down, I was close to this feeling for Niner fans and you as possible.
01:34But he wasn't the heart and soul.
01:36And I'm not dissing Bosa.
01:38There's just, but you had Fred still to fall back on.
01:42So now I'm just scratching my head as to why does this keep happening?
01:46But what I saw yesterday and to who it happened to, the great Fred Warner, I sent you the text,
01:5249er Frankie Bonte.
01:53You spot on.
01:54This is sad, Will.
01:56This truly is sad.
01:57So if you're going to give me the boom, bam, the John Madden X's and O's, okay.
02:02And Stiney was, today he was Dr. Optimistic.
02:04We were role reversal.
02:06But just, I don't know how you replace the other things that you spoke so highly on that
02:12were bigger than just on the field.
02:13Did everybody else have the same experience that I did starting in the middle of the second
02:19quarter of that football game, where even when something good would happen, they took
02:23a 10-7 lead, or then, and then they're, here they go.
02:26Like, they were fighting, man.
02:27They fought.
02:28They were fighting.
02:30But, you know, the ebb and flow of watching a football game and go to commercial, every
02:34time I went to commercial.
02:36Emotions.
02:37I would sit back on the couch and almost let my head hit the full back of the couch and
02:42look up at the ceiling and just take this big, long exhale.
02:46And my kids are looking at me, and they didn't need to know why.
02:49Like, they were doing it, too.
02:50You couldn't, I couldn't stay focused on the game.
02:57That's just a testament to 54.
02:58Right.
02:59That didn't happen with Bosa.
03:01The Purdy injuries have been weird.
03:03We keep finding out about them.
03:03Because we didn't see him thriving.
03:05He hasn't left a game.
03:06There you go.
03:07Like, Kittle left a game.
03:09And I was like, okay.
03:12That didn't look all that serious.
03:13Last year, McCaffrey didn't leave, just didn't show.
03:15Right.
03:15And then Bosa leaves a game, and you're like, all right, but we're in this thing.
03:19Uh-oh, there's Holden in the end zone.
03:21Like, but here comes Mac Jones.
03:23Like, that was a fun game.
03:24It was the Arizona game.
03:26This one, like, that was the gut punch that I didn't even know that it would be.
03:33And I'm trying to figure out if it's because it's the fifth or sixth major injury or just
03:39because it's Fred.
03:40No, I think it's a component of all of them.
03:43And, Stiney, before he left here, he was like basically next man up.
03:47But, you know, I love hard, Willard, and I mean what I'm about to say.
03:51From my vantage point and all the Niner fans in my family die hard that just – and the
03:57ones I know here at the station, and I think Stiney undersold this today, no matter what
04:03transpires, my friend, from Niner football in 2025, the fact that Warner won't be a
04:09part of it, it will never be the same.
04:11It won't hit the same.
04:13And that's just putting respect on what he means, what he symbolizes, what he stands
04:18for.
04:19And, Willard, I'm like, how can I come up with anything else?
04:22Now, you said it earlier, what if they do a we believe and run the table?
04:27Even then, it's like I'm watching Happy Days without the Fonz in it.
04:31Yeah, that's –
04:31You know what I mean?
04:32Or cheers without Sam Malone.
04:35Well, I'm trying to – like what I think happened yesterday is we got a better – sometimes,
04:40right, you don't know what you got until it's gone.
04:42That's one of my dads.
04:44Yeah.
04:44Like, we got a good look at the gravity of Fred Warner, and I'm looking around the
04:52league and thinking, all right, who else would be a comp?
04:56Who else in this league right now, or even in recent history, there's one name that pops
05:01to mind real, real quick.
05:01Does he have to be defense because I have one?
05:03No, no, it doesn't.
05:05Can I go Mahomes to where we all feel like we lost?
05:08That's a name, right.
05:09That's a name, yes.
05:10Mahomes, Josh Allen.
05:11I wonder if Cincinnati felt this way with Burrow.
05:14And it's different when it's a non-quarterback, though, because I think there's a lot of
05:18teams that if they see their quarterback's leg going the wrong way, they know their season
05:22is over.
05:23And that's just the way it goes.
05:25Joe Burrow, his leg wasn't going the wrong way, but you knew by the time that game was
05:29over there was a problem, and Cincinnati has not been able to function since, and their
05:35season is over.
05:36They're going to be – you know what I mean?
05:37They're going to be a dealer at the deadline or whatever.
05:39Same for Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes.
05:42But any other non-quarterbacks of teams that really have something on the line where,
05:49from an emotional standpoint, there's that kind of gravity.
05:52Aiden Hutchinson got knocked out last year for the Lions.
05:56I don't think it felt like this.
05:57And I love Aiden.
05:58It did hit the same.
05:59This would feel to me I'm going to make up something that never happened.
06:02But, like, what if 10, 15 years ago you are at a Baltimore Ravens game and Ray Lewis' leg
06:10goes the wrong way?
06:11That quality – that's it.
06:12That stadium.
06:13Come on, man.
06:14That city.
06:15That's it.
06:16That city.
06:16There's no more concessions.
06:18You can't eat.
06:20You can't – you cannot root the same way.
06:23You just –
06:23You play the taps music for that.
06:25That's how I felt yesterday.
06:26I couldn't focus on the game.
06:30You ever been, like –
06:31No, it's simply.
06:32I know that you have.
06:33You ever been at work when something's going on with your family?
06:35And then try to focus on starting.
06:37He's like, so, what do you think about Jimmy Butler?
06:40Like, good – like, I can't –
06:41You go black.
06:42I can't do this right now.
06:44That's how the game felt for me yesterday.
06:46So, they lost.
06:47And Lucas is in here.
06:48We're having a conversation an hour ago about, like, the X's and O's of the game.
06:52And I almost feel like I'm at a deficit.
06:54That's deep, man.
06:54I'm like, I don't even – I don't have access the same way I normally do
07:00to the X's and O's of the game.
07:01Because the whole screen went fuzzy.
07:03I came in this morning to look at Stiney.
07:06I looked him dead in the eyes.
07:07And Evan Willard, I swear, I echoed that same statement.
07:10Like, it's just my bad today.
07:13I can't front or – I'm human.
07:15This is not good.
07:17And I asked Stiney in the theme of our show, and I'll ask you real quick here,
07:20where do you go from here if you're the Niners?
07:23Well, I mean –
07:24Is that what Lucas was saying?
07:25The X's and O's?
07:26No, no, no.
07:27I mean, there's campy ways to answer that where it's like, well, you – you know,
07:31the same thing you say to people when someone actually does die.
07:35You know, you do tomorrow.
07:36You put one step in front of the other.
07:38And, like, you have no choice but to keep going.
07:41I don't want to make this sound like that.
07:43No, but it's a sport version of it.
07:45I got you.
07:45But, I mean, like, yeah, you got to go.
07:48You have to find out who's ready to go next week, patch it together,
07:53welcome all of America to the number one rated show on television
07:57that's coming to your town in six days,
08:01and you got to find a way to win that football game
08:05and try to re-inject your franchise with some life and some hope
08:10and some optimism, and that's the only way to do it.
08:13Yeah, and I know you're a true diehard, Crandy, all you guys here,
08:18and I'll say this because I mean what I'm about to say,
08:20but I'm kind of saying what I just said a second ago.
08:23Willard, I likened it to Steph Curry when he had the hat injury
08:26and they won 15 games, all the diehard Warrior fans,
08:30it's the name on the front.
08:31I get that, and I'm about that.
08:33But don't tell me no matter what transpires the rest of the season,
08:38you get that same, what word, satisfaction,
08:41because your guy is not a part of it.
08:44And I'm not saying the season's over, but that's how big this dude was,
08:48and Bosa for that matter.
08:49When you lock into Niner football, it's just going to hit different,
08:53like Warrior wins, oh, we won.
08:56But if Steph wasn't part of it, it just, meet me halfway, people, on that,
09:02it just hits different.
09:03Of course it does.
09:04Even the success.
09:04No, like, okay, what are some of the other injuries through the years,
09:08like you just, you remember.
09:10Buster Posey.
09:11There you go.
09:12Like a season is going one way, and in one instant you're like,
09:19well, that's it.
09:21Rich Cannon, when the Raiders were here in the last,
09:23remember that last day of the season.
09:25I mean, and I know sometimes it's different because.
09:28Derek Carr, Rich Cannon, yeah.
09:29Well, I mean, Steph Curry in these playoffs,
09:31but he limps off and you're like, I don't know if he's coming back.
09:34And that was the, okay, got you.
09:36You didn't know.
09:37Sometimes it happens to where, like yesterday, like, whoa.
09:41Wow.
09:41Like, in an instant, you got to deal with, well.
09:44Well, Bosa in New York on that turf at MetLife,
09:47if that, we knew it was bad.
09:49That was week two.
09:50Oh, yeah, that was early, yeah.
09:51Week two.
09:51Yeah.
09:52I just, I don't know, man.
09:54And, again, I'm not saying that the Niner season still can't be a thing.
09:57I just, I don't think it can be the thing.
09:59Wow, man.
10:00It can't.
10:01Like, what are we talking about here?
10:03We'll be talking about here.
