00:00:00...side now, but I suppose they have that rule for a reason, you know, and undoubtedly someone in that team's been looking after it and they will pull the plug, I would have thought, when they reach that point.
00:00:08Mark will be leaning on dailysportscar.com to keep us abreast of exactly what's going on there.
00:00:14They're down on that side of the Tribune.
00:00:16It is a terrific website, incidentally.
00:00:19If sports car racing is your thing, dailysportscar.com, you will have to subscribe, but it is an amazing service that they provide, particularly at events such as this, Mark.
00:00:29Yeah, they're just reporting, in fact, that the Stracca car that's leading a class appears to have loose rear bodywork.
00:00:36I don't know if that's going to be a problem, but Danny Watts was outpaced by Bradmont two laps again.
00:00:41Where is the front of that vehicle and what vehicle is it? Because it's highly modified. I think that's the one that's straight on an arch it is, yeah.
00:00:48So they've gotten that car going. As we suspected, we did think it was possible they might be able to drive that back.
00:00:53Obviously, they will have a really big gap. I'm not entirely sure how far down the order they are. I know they've had quite a few problems as well.
00:01:00From what we saw with the marshals, they're trying to ease the bodywork, weren't they? Because it's caught in his front tires.
00:01:05Obviously, what they've done is just taken the whole nose off and said, go back, you know, and then off he's gone.
00:01:10So it's still drivable. Just for one awful moment, that yellow helmet, one thought it was Stracca, but it's not.
00:01:15Oh, Danny's just done a 3.33. So he's just done a full second lap faster than Brabham. So that is still really pushing for the LMP2 class.
00:01:26Three full laps between them as well there. It's HPD 1 and 2, and it's a bit of a lockout for now.
00:01:32But we daren't speak too soon in any class here. Obviously, we look at the one car that continues in the hands of Mark Jenny to do some blistering times.
00:01:41He's just done a 3.22.3 out there, and he's quicker than the two cars ahead of him. It's not over by any means for Peugeot.
00:01:49And don't forget, they're in P5 as well. Position 5, I should say, with Lapierre there in the Matmuk machine, just behind Dindo Capello's 7 car.
00:01:57And another big news we've got here is we've just seen on our screens that car 39 has rejoined. That is the Corvette of Antonio Garcia.
00:02:04It's been stopped out on the track for quite a while now, but we did say earlier, you know, maybe it's not retired.
00:02:09We could tell he was possibly working on the car, and it looks like he's got it going again.
00:02:13So absolutely hands up to Antonio for doing whatever he's done to that car to get it running.
00:02:19And a little ripple of applause, please, for this brave effort here. The 39 car is making its way back after big, heavy front-end damage straight into the tyre wall.
00:02:29Sorry, wrong one.
00:02:30Yeah, and here they are. Portalis bringing it in.
00:02:34Yeah, of course, that car, what a checker tissue that's had at Le Mans. Kai Cruises, KSM Crucial, a motorsport team.
00:02:40Hideki Moda rolled that car into a ball, you remember, three years ago in qualifying.
00:02:45Last year, Hideki again had a massive crash in it in qualifying.
00:02:48And then what happens? Car catches fire here during the race. Burns out very publicly down at the Ford Chicane.
00:02:55And this here, they're really, really determined they're going to get to the finish.
00:02:58Yeah, it'll take some modification, I think. Or at least re-sculpting yet again here.
00:03:04Look at this. Audi absolutely cock-a-hoop at the moment.
00:03:08And just about to put another lap on one of the Astons here, the 007 car, leading the petrol class.
00:03:15Yes, it's a harrying, harrying performance here.
00:03:19And my apologies to anyone who thinks I've totally lost my mind. It was, in fact, that car of Jean DiPertullis that was coming in, not Antonio Garcia.
00:03:26So it's early, I'm sorry.
00:03:27There we are.
00:03:27Sorry, guys.
00:03:28Both babies out.
00:03:29Having a blunt moment.
00:03:30So here we are, the nine car of Bernard out front.
00:03:33It's Audi's one and two, Trulier in the bird seat, though, at the moment, because Marc Genet is on an absolutely punishing pace.
00:03:40And it continues here.
00:03:41He's constantly getting into the 3.22s here.
00:03:45Dindo Capello is running in fourth place with Lapierre in fifth, hoping that Matmut can bring some joy as well here.
00:03:53And look at the pace that's being maintained here by Bernard as he picks his way through the field.
00:03:57They have been full on.
00:03:58We'll be taking a break in just a short while.
00:03:59Just to remind you, we have a message board.
00:04:03It's eurosport.co.uk.
00:04:04Click on the message board section, then scroll down to Motorsports.
00:04:09If you click Le Mans, the thread is new!eurosport2010 Le Mans Live.
00:04:16I know a lot of you have been sending some messages throughout the evening.
00:04:19Marc Cole's going to have a scroll through.
00:04:22And Jeremy Shaw's just come in hunting down some coffee, which is fantastic.
00:04:25We'll be having a word with him in just a few moments' time.
00:04:28And the 009 car, Hancock, just looked like it's rejoining here.
00:04:35I think he was actually just going out of pit lane, actually, because he had just pitted.
00:04:39I think it was a routine stop.
00:04:41It doesn't look to have been anything else.
00:04:43This will be his second stint in that car now.
00:04:44Truly, those eight cars just come in.
00:04:46He's on his marks here.
00:04:49They have to just keep the focus here and keep it sensible.
00:04:52Audi, well, they've had that team talk, as you saw earlier on.
00:04:56Just to keep the focus, that was the watchword, as dawn came.
00:05:01And they find themselves in the lead.
00:05:02It's a never-say-die attitude.
00:05:04They have been consistent throughout.
00:05:06And they've, at least for now, achieved their aim.
00:05:09They're one and two.
00:05:10But don't count out Marc Genet, who is on an absolute charge.
00:05:14He's just on a 3.21.
00:05:15We'll take a break.
00:05:16Welcome back.
00:05:25You're live at Le Mans.
00:05:26And, well, it's a game that Audi are winning at the moment.
00:05:31There's a lot to be told here, because with seven hours and 19 minutes or so of this race to go,
00:05:38there's an awful, awful lot to be done here.
00:05:41You are live on Eurosport.
00:05:43You've been live, except, I understand, for a little hiccup of about 15 minutes in the middle of the night.
00:05:48But for all of the bulk of this fantastic event here.
00:05:53Marc, you've been on the web page to have a brief view.
00:05:57Yes, SDL.
00:05:58Rob asking, does anyone yet know the official reason for the 63 car retiring?
00:06:03Well, as far as we know, it's not officially retired yet.
00:06:05And as Liz explained earlier, Corvette will do all they can with Antonio GarcΓa on the other end of his radio
00:06:10or mobile phone to get that car back in the race.
00:06:13The Corvettes do tend to be bulletproof.
00:06:15These are the GT2 cars, remember?
00:06:17First time they've run here at Le Mans.
00:06:19And they really would like to get both cars back to the finish.
00:06:23A question from Philippe P.
00:06:25I think we heard from you earlier things.
00:06:27Big question.
00:06:28He says, why do Peugeot not have the reliability of Audi?
00:06:31Are they just too fast?
00:06:33Liz?
00:06:34Well, I mean, it is possible.
00:06:36I mean, there's a lot of train of thought there that says that,
00:06:38that they're always told to push within, you know, an inch of their own limitations at all times.
00:06:44And I know quite a few of the Ampersia drivers, I know them well, and really, really great guys.
00:06:49But they even admit, they said, the rule is we have to push all the time.
00:06:53And they constantly are telling them what the other drivers are doing time-wise.
00:06:56So they're constantly put under this pressure that you've got to go faster because your teammates just done a better time.
00:07:02So I know they're always, you know, under that force to go, go, go as hard as they can.
00:07:07But that's not to say that Audi isn't always pushing, because I know they're always pushing, always pushing hard.
00:07:12But I think sometimes Audi always has the bigger picture in mind.
00:07:15They always think, you know, let's get to the finish.
00:07:17Let's get to the end results.
00:07:18And we heard in a press conference that most of the Audi boys were saying, look, look, our job starts at 3 o'clock on Saturday.
00:07:25We're not that worried about qualifying.
00:07:26And to me, that's just the first step of saying, it's the 24-hour race that matters.
00:07:31So that could be part of Peugeot's problem.
00:07:33Well, Philip makes a good point here.
00:07:35He says Peugeot has a four-year, 30,000-mile car compared to Audi, who's got a brand-new car.
00:07:41That's very good.
00:07:42By the way, he also says, could we have a give a shout for his friend, Ben, who's not feeling at all well, but he is trying to watch Le Mans with him.
00:07:48So, Ben, get better soon.
00:07:49I hope you're better, Ben.
00:07:50Just looking, we had a brief dip down to the Saline here.
00:07:58We were talking a little bit earlier on about the fact that their gorgeous history, I think, is fair to say.
00:08:05Certainly in terms of sound they've been entertaining us for 10 years, it would be an amazing story if that car comes back for victory here.
00:08:12I think they skipped last year, at least, the same.
00:08:15Yeah, no, I haven't seen them, I think, even more than just a year.
00:08:19His entry was refused last year.
00:08:20Oh, was it?
00:08:21He wanted to come.
00:08:21Yeah, there was a lot of unhappiness about that.
00:08:24So we've got a bit of egg on Le Mans, on the OCO's face if this car does pull off the windows.
00:08:28Well, and this particular car is a very old chassis as well, I think.
00:08:31We were looking at, that's what we were sort of having a little chuckle about, was sort of the grandfather cars in here.
00:08:37We've got some of the older Corvettes still running in a possible position of second place, and also the Saline.
00:08:44And they're all very old cars, but it's lovely to see them out here.
00:08:47And it's sort of bringing home the cream of GT1 for the last year that it's going to run.
00:08:51Terrific work by Marc Genet there.
00:08:53Just holding station, waiting, waiting to get by that Porsche.
00:08:57I'm not sure which one it was.
00:08:58I think just approaching the back end and did a very, very neat job.
00:09:04Marc Genet is smooth as silk, and he's just done a 321.070.
00:09:10That is so fast.
00:09:11And I've just seen something very unfortunate.
00:09:14I think I've just seen the Lola Aston Martin of Pierre Bragg being pushed into their garage.
00:09:20So that is the first of the Lola Aston Martins to have a proper problem that requires pushing in.
00:09:25That's the car, which, of course, Vanina Eakes is driving as well.
00:09:29And that's run so flawlessly throughout this race, so that's really unfortunate.
00:09:32I do hope they will get that back out again.
00:09:34Duran Polycar and the 72 car, a car that was running very, very well early on.
00:09:38It's last but one of the GT1 class.
00:09:42Just gets back in and on his marks.
00:09:44And that very, very deep, almost nectar feeder of a fuel engagement probe, I think you could possibly call it.
00:09:52Goes deep into the bodywork.
00:09:53And they start working on this car.
00:09:55We're on board with the number one car of Marc Genet.
00:09:58And look at this.
00:10:00That is a busy, busy track with one of the Lola Aston Martins just in front of him, Marc.
00:10:04Yeah, this is really hotting up again now, isn't it?
00:10:08Here we go.
00:10:08Around the CΓ©line, in fact, there it is.
00:10:10That car that is leading GT1.
00:10:13And the Aston Martin doing all he can to fend off the Peugeot.
00:10:15It's a losing battle, of course.
00:10:16He knows as soon as they get onto a straight bit, that turbo booster will take over.
00:10:201,500 newton metres of torque from that Peugeot.
00:10:23And he's coming in.
00:10:25The one car comes in.
00:10:27And it will be fascinating, actually.
00:10:29Oh, dear, to see the demeanour of the crew that work on this car.
00:10:33And the 97 looks lucky to get here.
00:10:37That's Richard Westbrook.
00:10:38Britain's Richard Westbrook.
00:10:40Two times Porsche Super Cup champion.
00:10:42Bringing that car back in.
00:10:43And also the second place GT2 car at the moment, isn't it?
00:10:47Oh, now it's third place.
00:10:48Third place, yeah.
00:10:49Fifth.
00:10:49He was running second not long ago, was he?
00:10:51So he's lost a lot of places.
00:10:53Very quickly.
00:10:54So perhaps there's been a problem there we didn't know about before.
00:10:56Well, we thought that was where the main focus of all the racing and changing was going to be.
00:11:00But it seems to have turned out to be P1 as the Signature Plus car just goes along pit lane.
00:11:06But look at this.
00:11:07This is where the action is right now.
00:11:08And the airgun man absolutely desperate to get in and do his job.
00:11:12And there goes the compresses out to the back just getting up the jacks.
00:11:17And work starts here.
00:11:18And they mean business.
00:11:20Marc Janais is doing some superb times out there.
00:11:23He's actually nudging.
00:11:24I think he's into the 21s, the 321s out there.
00:11:27And oh, the 40 car is same old place.
00:11:30You could almost keep a camera locked off here and just have a video nasty going on all night.
00:11:36The Janetta Zajtek noses straight in.
00:11:38I think that's the second one since dawn.
00:11:40Yeah, Miguel Amaral on board that car.
00:11:42Another of the, we're not calling them gentleman drivers the quick ones, are we?
00:11:46Sportsman drivers, that's the term.
00:11:48Yeah, but he is very, very quick and does quite a bit of historic racing himself.
00:11:51I think he's got a Cobra that's run at Goodwood many times.
00:11:54And really a fantastic driver.
00:11:56We can call him a gentleman driver.
00:11:57But he's actually very quick and one of the quicker amateurs, definitely.
00:12:01It's a red, white and blue helmet.
00:12:02It's not Nigel Mansell.
00:12:03He's out of the race.
00:12:04It's not Jenson Button.
00:12:05He's in Canada.
00:12:05It's our Ant Davidson.
00:12:07What a great weekend he's having, isn't he, Anthony?
00:12:10Third place at the moment in that number one car.
00:12:12And that could still come back to him yet.
00:12:14So, we're on course.
00:12:17If you're watching a split screen, we're looking at people's shoes.
00:12:19I don't even know why.
00:12:21If you're watching on full screen, then ignore what I just said.
00:12:26Yes, it is an amazing, an amazing tale that's had so many chapters here.
00:12:31And this, the seven car of Dindo Capello as well, also not out of the frame at all.
00:12:37You can't count anybody out here because so much can change.
00:12:40We thought, as we were just alluding to a moment ago,
00:12:43we thought that this was going to be a tale of main focus was going to be on GT2 with chops and changes.
00:12:49It's been absolutely top table stuff all through the night and it goes on.
00:12:54The 007 incidentally is just in the pit and Primat is just getting the clean up as we speak.
00:12:59And the 11 car has made one lap.
00:13:02It's gone all the way around and we're going to be finding out just how many laps
00:13:05they're going to have to complete before nine o'clock.
00:13:08But sadly, it doesn't seem to be a great rush to get around that vehicle.
00:13:12I think they know that maybe it is too tall an order and the shutters were, the desperate shutters.
00:13:19We're just hoping, oh, and it's going back into the garage.
00:13:21It's going back in.
00:13:22This could be the end of the number 11 car after such a hard lot of fight.
00:13:25They may, they've suddenly perhaps realised that even if they were setting 325s out there, which is impossible for them,
00:13:33then I think they realise that this day is a done one.
00:13:39It's cooked, I think, unfortunately.
00:13:42Backy goes into the garage and no great sense of urgency either.
00:13:47And I think if it was even close that they could continue, they would be very, very busy.
00:13:51Aye, aye.
00:13:52That's the 40 car.
00:13:53That's Miguel Amaral bringing that car back.
00:13:56We've got it out of the wall at Amnage.
00:13:59Well, yes.
00:14:00And we're still not fully into it.
00:14:03Well, he's put it into the wall at the Porsche curves.
00:14:05Do you not realise you've got a crippled car?
00:14:07Well, well, he does now, and it's well and truly hobbled.
00:14:11I was just looking at the back end issue there.
00:14:13We couldn't see the front, but, yeah, from bad to worse, I think, just as you were talking him up, he does himself down yet again.
00:14:21He certainly should have been crawling then, and I would have said he should slow down a bit now even.
00:14:25He's only got one or three functioning tyres, as we can all see.
00:14:29And I think once you've had an incident like that, you need to make sure, number one, you get the car back to the pit so they can work on it without any more damage.
00:14:38Yeah, we're just waiting for news on the 11 car, which is in the garage.
00:14:43It's running just behind.
00:14:46It's just one off the bottom of the field that are still circulating out there.
00:14:52And look at this.
00:14:53This is a man in charge of his team, Mark Cole.
00:14:56He's on bended knee here, sharing the ears of, or occupying the ears of all and sundry, all departments.
00:15:05There really is a family down there.
00:15:07That's the kickback that you get at Audi, isn't it?
00:15:10Yeah, I mean, Wolfgang Ulrich is, as you literally, hands-on, as you saw, he's there with his crew discussing splitters, what they need to do.
00:15:19Obviously, things are going to change, Liz, as the day goes on.
00:15:22The heat comes back into the day, and aerodynamics will subtly change, won't they?
00:15:26So we might, at some stage, see Audi changing a nose with a slightly different configuration of splitters, et cetera.
00:15:34There's a lot of mechanics in this, isn't it?
00:15:36Engineering and aerodynamic mechanics.
00:15:38I have to be honest, I don't think Audi will change anything unless they need to.
00:15:42I think if it ain't broke, don't fix it, to be honest.
00:15:44And I think if the cars are running well and there isn't a problem, I doubt we'd see them make something as drastic as a nose change.
00:15:51However, we did see Audi do some incredible changes of both the rear and the nose earlier on, which took them around about five minutes.
00:15:57So you never know.
00:15:58Maybe that will be their plan.
00:15:59Oh, goodness me, everybody just occupying themselves, getting their own focus and running their own race, but not realising quite, perhaps, the pace of a very, very desperate car coming through.
00:16:11Desperate to hold on and continue making inroads.
00:16:15Dindar Caffello in the seven car is running in fourth place.
00:16:18Anthony Davidson in the Peugeot number one car.
00:16:21We're on board with it now, and he looks pacey.
00:16:24He's picked up where he's left off here.
00:16:26This is that moment for the seven car as it comes through.
00:16:28That's the young driver, Aston Martin, on the inside.
00:16:30Yeah, that's Chris on the inside of that point, yeah.
00:16:33Christopher Nygaard on board that car.
00:16:34That car actually is in third place in GT1 at the moment.
00:16:38The Julian Juice Corvette is ahead of him, and ahead of that, the Celine we talked about earlier.
00:16:43Julian Canal now on board the La Bricelline.
00:16:46Dr. Wolfgang Ulrich is still going and talking to the Air Jack man.
00:16:50He's talking to everyone.
00:16:51He really is what they call a fighting general.
00:16:53Not one who sits at the back, but gets involved.
00:16:56He's on the front line as we look down from our Eagle's Nest position here, opposite the start, finish, straight, and all of the pit boxes.
00:17:05It's a phenomenal view, and we'll do our best to keep you informed of everything that's going on as we take this short break.
00:17:11Right, we've got a message from the Philippines.
00:17:18Eurosported course gets everywhere, and we broadcast out there as well.
00:17:22Irvin, who's from PassΓ© City, says, hi, everyone, just to let you know I'm around, asking Liz.
00:17:26Liz, will you compete at Le Mans in 2011?
00:17:29I think my answer to that is, I absolutely hope so.
00:17:33I will be doing everything I can to put all the pieces in place to be back at Le Mans in 2011.
00:17:39Much as I love you all, and I do enjoy being here in the commentary box, I have to admit, it does make me desperate to get back in the car,
00:17:45and I would love to be here at the greatest motor race in the world.
00:17:48Such a tease.
00:17:49I remember you coming and joining us, and then leaving us bereft as you took a ride a couple of years ago.
00:17:54It would be great to see you in there, though.
00:17:57I think we bigged you up big time, actually.
00:17:58We tracked you throughout.
00:18:00There we are, Dino Capello in the 7 car.
00:18:03Meanwhile, look at this.
00:18:05Just behind him is, on track, is Anthony Davidson.
00:18:10Yeah, absolutely.
00:18:11Terrific little skirmish going on right now.
00:18:14The 7 car is a lap behind Davidson, and is about to go one further by, I should imagine.
00:18:22Well, it will happen if they swap places here.
00:18:25And the way that Davidson is pedalling at the moment, that car has got such pace.
00:18:30It seems a quality line-up, naturally, but whoever gets in really, really can make the most of it.
00:18:35And remember, Davidson has huge confidence.
00:18:38He won Sebring this year for Peugeot, first time out in the car.
00:18:41And that just gives him so, so much of a boost and confidence.
00:18:45If he can win Sebring, then you know you've got the capability of winning Le Mans as well.
00:18:49Well, so many people say that doing the 12 hours of Sebring is essentially like doing a 24-hour race,
00:18:54especially someone like Le Mans, because Sebring is basically an old airfield track.
00:18:58It's really old.
00:18:59They don't repair the concrete.
00:19:00It absolutely beats the driver and the car to pieces.
00:19:03So that's, I think, the feeling, is if you can win at Sebring, then you can basically take on anything.
00:19:08Anthony Davidson in for David Brabham in this vehicle, who's got occupations elsewhere.
00:19:15Yeah, that's right.
00:19:17Yes, he moved across to Highcroft, the team for which he drives in the ALMS.
00:19:20And I'm never quite sure if Peugeot pushed him or he decided to go off by himself.
00:19:24But here we are.
00:19:25This is the moment the pass came.
00:19:28Just pulls out of the slipstream.
00:19:30You can just see the speed of that Peugeot.
00:19:33It was just no worries, wasn't it?
00:19:34You can see just how close he had to get.
00:19:36And look at that.
00:19:37They know that this is Nova by a long chalk and a very, very serious face.
00:19:41It's almost like the pressure suddenly just shifted from Peugeot.
00:19:44Pressure's off just a little bit because of their ill fortune.
00:19:48And so Peugeot are playing the happy game, if that's appropriate to say.
00:19:52They're playing catch-up at the moment.
00:19:54Certainly, they are the hounds and the Audis are the hares just for now.
00:19:58Sorry, go ahead.
00:19:59Johnson said, just watching these pictures of the Peugeot going past the Audi, he said,
00:20:04how much of an advantage is it to have a closed coupe over an open car?
00:20:08Oh, the Celine just closes the door there.
00:20:10Sorry.
00:20:11Mark just switches over and he just squirms through on the inside.
00:20:15Thankfully, in the hands of Dillo Capello, a very, very smooth driver.
00:20:19Now, just watch the way he takes some of these curves here.
00:20:22I know a lot of the rumbles are being wiped out by the Steadicam, but believe me, he is absolutely millimetre perfect, it seems.
00:20:31And not a jerky driver at all here.
00:20:34Brilliant work.
00:20:35And there you see it.
00:20:36The march goes on for Anthony Davidson in the one car for now.
00:20:40I'm sorry I interrupted you.
00:20:41No, no, no.
00:20:42That's all right.
00:20:42I think going back to what Mark said, I do think there is an advantage to the coupe, certainly on an aero standpoint.
00:20:48Obviously, a driver's head stuck out is going to be more of a wall for air, if you will.
00:20:54And certainly you can see the way the Peugeot has been designed.
00:20:57It truly is designed almost to scoop the air off the front of it.
00:21:00So I do think there's an advantage there.
00:21:02But I think they've managed to find that little bit more power somewhere else as well.
00:21:07And that might just be in the design of the car.
00:21:09Well, Mark Cole, are you a betting person?
00:21:11Do you think Peugeot can do this?
00:21:13Well, I lost on the Grand National with a 1-2-3 this year.
00:21:18So, I mean, you're asking the wrong person here.
00:21:21I lost a pound, Liz.
00:21:23Well, I think we're a long way to the finish, that's for sure.
00:21:26I think there's room, well, there isn't room for Audi to make any errors.
00:21:31Peugeot isn't that far away at all.
00:21:33And they are going very, very quickly.
00:21:36So I think it's possible, but I think they'll have to work very hard and Audi will have to make mistakes.
00:21:41Alan Moknish looking at the monitors, knows we're on him as well.
00:21:44Gives a little shake of the head.
00:21:45Go away.
00:21:46We want to get back on board.
00:21:47And he wants to get back on board with this car in terms of pictures here.
00:21:52Timo Bernard in the 9 machine.
00:21:54And it is, there it is.
00:21:55You're seeing what we have available to us up here as well.
00:21:59And it looks quicker.
00:22:013.25.5 is what they've just said.
00:22:04Davidson has just done a 3.22.8.
00:22:06He's in third place at the moment.
00:22:09And crucially, he is only one lap down on the Fasla Audi, the number eight car, and two off the leader.
00:22:15Two laps could disappear in a hair's breadth almost by comparison.
00:22:19Well, I think what you'll see them doing down there, where Alan Moknish is standing by the screens and having what looks to be a very serious chat with everybody, is they're actually looking at the speed at which that Peugeot is doing right now and what sort of times they need to do to make sure they keep them at bay.
00:22:32Because at the moment, Timo Bernard has done a 3.25.
00:22:35Fasla did a 3.27.
00:22:37And Anthony Davidson did a 3.22.
00:22:39So, certainly, they cannot carry on with that sort of range of times.
00:22:43007 on the hijacks here.
00:22:45And they're having a look at the back end.
00:22:48Yeah, we're being told it's gearbox problems.
00:22:51Yeah, it does look like that.
00:22:52Timo Bernard, don't forget.
00:22:55Roman Dumas and Mike Rockenfeller, first timers in the factory Audi.
00:22:58They do a lot of work in the Porsche.
00:23:00They're kind of on loan at the moment.
00:23:02Did some great work with the RS Spyder, which isn't here, Mark.
00:23:05Yes, indeed.
00:23:06And just looking at that refueling.
00:23:11We've got a problem also in GT2.
00:23:13We've just seen that the Raymond Narak car, the 76 Matmut IMSA performance car, is in the garage.
00:23:20They've got problems.
00:23:21That means that at the moment on the podium is Tony Viander in the Ferrari taking Gianna Lacy and Giancarlo Fisicale with him.
00:23:29And, of course, they had that podium finish first time out at Paul Ricard.
00:23:33Are they heading for another one here?
00:23:35There's nobody who is happier at success than Gianna Lacy, is there?
00:23:39He goes like a Skippy Cub Scout when it goes his way.
00:23:44The emotions start to fly.
00:23:46I remember him actually throwing a helmet full of all the communications gear into the crowd to say,
00:23:51thanks for your support, getting roundly told off for chucking away a very expensive piece of kit.
00:23:59So if you're in the locale and Lacy does well, you never know what might come your way.
00:24:03Yes, as you say, it wasn't just this chrome helmet, was it?
00:24:07It was all the gear that went with it.
00:24:09Mercedes were absolutely furious about that.
00:24:12Was that in a DTM?
00:24:13I think it was.
00:24:14Bang on 8 o'clock, 7 hours to go.
00:24:16The race started at 3 o'clock this year in France.
00:24:18It finishes at 3 o'clock this afternoon for obvious reasons, because 24 hours will be up.
00:24:23But 7 hours remaining and we're still an hour short of a wet 1,000 kilometre race.
00:24:2924 cars just come in with its rather distinctive delivery of marker pen pink.
00:24:35And look at this, that is just the end of a manoeuvre here, I think which we can quite simply describe as a pirouette for the 75 car.
00:24:44And looks to have got away with it, amazingly.
00:24:47Well, I don't think he would have gotten away with that completely.
00:24:50He's certainly gotten away with it stopping the car up.
00:24:53Check this up.
00:24:53Now, there he goes.
00:24:54Now, barriers.
00:24:56Yes, just a little nudge and the back.
00:24:59And don't forget what we talked about earlier.
00:25:01Front-end damage in a Porsche can mean radiator problems, which could be a major issue here, especially at this stage in the race.
00:25:07So he's going to need to be careful, bring that back in one piece.
00:25:11Very, very robust though, Mark.
00:25:12It almost looked like a parking nudge by the time it spun out there.
00:25:16But you're quite right with it, all the radiators are up front in that vehicle and on the side as well.
00:25:20So it can get nudge.
00:25:21And that was Dutch rookie Nick Honnessen in the Belgian Pro-Speed car.
00:25:25He's showing that car with Paul van Splinteren, Louis Maciel.
00:25:29Of course, these guys run in the FIA GT 2 Championship.
00:25:33It's their debut here at Le Mans.
00:25:35Stryker Racing leading LMP2.
00:25:37You just saw that there.
00:25:38And our lead car in the 16th place, as far as GT2 is concerned, is Corvette Racing.
00:25:43Two GT, three GT2 cars leading that class.
00:25:48Mark Lieb in the 77 is in second place with Willander in the 95 car in third.
00:25:55That's before you get to the first of the GT1s.
00:25:58That's being led by the Saline at the moment, running in 21st place on course.
00:26:03And the J-Lock machine is still here, but 142 laps down.
00:26:08And I think as soon as you get to 9 o'clock, which is just in 58 minutes or 57 and a bit minutes' time,
00:26:14I think the marker pen of doom might well come on them.
00:26:17Because I think they're too far, in terms of percentages, away from the lead car.
00:26:21They are stopped up in the garage and have been there for quite a long time.
00:26:25So I'm pretty confident that's going to be game over for them, sadly.
00:26:28Talking a marker of doom, I'm afraid you're going to have to cross the 63 Corvette.
00:26:32Opelis now confirmed as retirement with a failed engine crank sensor.
00:26:37Oh dear, that's not like Corvette at all.
00:26:39So I'm very sorry to hear that from them.
00:26:40And Antonio Garcia, of course, a fabulous driver himself, driven with Aston Martin and also I think won here last year with Corvette,
00:26:48was my co-driver in 2007 as well.
00:26:51And just a really fabulously nice guy and exceptionally talented driver.
00:26:55So a crank sensor takes the 63 machine out.
00:27:00There's spin retirements for all kinds of reasons.
00:27:03Just for now, the 9 car seems to have avoided the worst of it all.
00:27:08Look at this. Immaculate, by the way.
00:27:10No cleaner place to be.
00:27:12Even the outfits are absolutely pristine.
00:27:16It is quite an operation for Audi.
00:27:18This is a huge focus for them.
00:27:21It has been for many, many years.
00:27:23And the support that they've given endurance racing has benefited everyone, Mark, the entire sport.
00:27:28Yes, very much so.
00:27:29Very much so.
00:27:29And it's become synonymous of Le Mans, hasn't it?
00:27:32Yes.
00:27:33I mean, they've owned this race virtually the whole of the last decade.
00:27:37In 2003, remember, it might have been Bentley, but it was still an Audi underneath all that.
00:27:41And it wasn't until last year, 2009, that Peugeot eventually managed to put its stamp back on the race that it won in 92 and 93.
00:27:48They've changed the mood as well in a lot of places.
00:27:51In the United States, the Audi, and I think to a certain extent in Germany as well, as the car comes in, were very much regarded as kind of a middle-aged brand.
00:28:00They've turned that round completely with some fantastic cars that really appeal to the younger end of the market.
00:28:05And there's a lot of emotion attached to Audis these days.
00:28:09They've even changed our views of diesels over the years.
00:28:12Yes, I think that's probably the biggest thing.
00:28:14You know, I always said, I'll never in my life drive a diesel car.
00:28:17I do.
00:28:18I drive a diesel car now because it's so...
00:28:19And it's an Audi.
00:28:20I wish it was way back.
00:28:23But, I mean, five years ago, I said I'd never ever have a diesel car.
00:28:26Well, I swear by them now.
00:28:28Yes, absolutely.
00:28:29And it's been quite a few steps that they've taken, both on and off the track as a result.
00:28:35It really is a full-on proper luxury sports brand, if I can possibly call it that.
00:28:42Yeah, their aim was to get back at BMW in that regard.
00:28:45And, yeah, it's great to see them fighting against each other.
00:28:49Great to see BMW, incidentally, here as well.
00:28:51Driver change in for the lead car, who this time yesterday would have said Audi would be leading the race here
00:28:57after some 17 hours of action.
00:29:01But here it is.
00:29:02They have the lead, and they've got a strong lead.
00:29:04It's a whole lap over the sister car, which Marcel Fasler is now in on board the eight car.
00:29:09And they have a two-lap lead over the best of the Peugeots, Anthony Davidson, in the number one car.
00:29:16Well, we will take ourselves a brief commercial break in just a few moments' time
00:29:22as the nine car prepares to get out and do battle here.
00:29:25Romain Dumas and his distinctive helmet.
00:29:29And it also helps having the words Romain and Dumas written on the side of it.
00:29:35Oh, God, I was really impressed there for a moment.
00:29:37I was going to say, I didn't know it was distinctive, but neither did you, it was either.
00:29:41As he comes, we'll take ourselves a break.
00:29:45And we'll be back in a few moments, live here.
00:29:46Into traffic, the eight car running in second place at the moment.
00:29:54Marcel Fasler comes under the Dunlop Bridge and heads down towards the curbs here through traffic,
00:30:00picking his way through beautifully.
00:30:02We've just been looking at some of the times out here, and the Peugeot one car is still on a mission.
00:30:05A 321.386, that is so fast, Liz.
00:30:10It is incredible, especially, you know, this far into the race when everybody's feeling a bit tired.
00:30:15And it just goes to show how professional they are and how fit the drivers are as well.
00:30:19You know, you must be mentally fit and physically fit to be able to be that on the ball this far into the race.
00:30:23Don't forget our website, by the way.
00:30:26Mark Hall's just trawling through.
00:30:30It's eurosport.co.uk.
00:30:32Click on the message board, scroll down to Motorsports, click on Le Mans,
00:30:35and the topic area or the thread is new!eurosport2010.
00:30:40Le Mans live.
00:30:41And what a reach we've got.
00:30:42This is Luke, Paul and Steve from Australia.
00:30:44Thanks to Eurosport.
00:30:46We're dedicated Le Mans nuts.
00:30:48We've been watching you the whole race.
00:30:49It's been fantastic.
00:30:50I've had no trouble staying awake for a marathon 28 hours so far.
00:30:54Still a long way to go.
00:30:56I really feel for the drivers of the number two car.
00:30:58Will you be having an interview with anyone from Peugeot regarding the problem?
00:31:02I'm sure we will.
00:31:04And good day or good night, mate, I suppose we should be saying.
00:31:07What are you on out there?
00:31:08Probably around about 10 past 7 in the evening.
00:31:11Something like that, if I had to guess.
00:31:13I think what might give a clue to Peugeot's mindset is that an hour after the incident,
00:31:18we haven't heard from them yet.
00:31:19But mind you, to be fair, our pit reporters are only just coming back on duty at the moment.
00:31:23So we will get Justine to shoot off there and see if she can find something.
00:31:27I've just seen the very sad sight way off in the distance of the number two car going away
00:31:32on a flatbed lorry, being towed off, possibly to the Le Mans graveyard,
00:31:37which I can also see off to my left of all the retired vehicles.
00:31:41So a very sad sight to see.
00:31:43Motorsport aerobics going on here.
00:31:45And there's going to be a lot of scraped knuckles out there.
00:31:52And it's about now when you start thinking, why on earth did we not design this to be easier to reach?
00:32:00Yes, the Le Mans graveyard at the end of the pit lane.
00:32:03I don't know whether we ever get a picture of that for you, but there's cars under covers there.
00:32:07Some fabulous looking vehicles at the start of the event looking very much worse for wear.
00:32:14It is, because these are trusty steeds when they start off.
00:32:18And sometimes, well, maybe that trust is misplaced.
00:32:22Yes, you wouldn't come here if you didn't have hope and expectations.
00:32:25You come here to win.
00:32:26No other reason.
00:32:28Not just to be an also run in the field.
00:32:30Audi, though, well, a lot of concern, isn't there, at the moment.
00:32:34There is this constant worry, niggling worry.
00:32:37You see the opposition breaking.
00:32:39You're then worrying about your car doing it.
00:32:40Number 97, we're being told, has just been given a warning for going off track limits.
00:32:46Liz, could you expand on what that means here at Le Mans?
00:32:48Oh, it probably means that they've jumped a few chicanes a bit too far over the line.
00:32:53Usually, when you have the drivers meeting at Le Mans, they sort of make it very clear to you which lines they do not want you to cross.
00:32:58And this particular car, I know, is pushing hard to try and get a few places back,
00:33:03because they were running in second or third place, second or third for a while, and they've dropped back.
00:33:07So, I think the car has been told to push hard, and he's probably just gotten a little carried away.
00:33:12That is Richard Westbrook.
00:33:14Yes.
00:33:14Alan McNish about to rejoin proceedings.
00:33:17They need some pace out there.
00:33:18I'm not suggesting his teammates haven't got it.
00:33:20But we know when it comes to a toe-to-toe, he's an absolute monster, despite his stature.
00:33:26A 3.19.5 has just been posted by Anthony Davidson.
00:33:31And they know, and this is going to be a sprinter, can you believe it, at this time of the day.
00:33:38Or, yes, we are back in the day, absolutely.
00:33:41They haven't stopped, and we have another 6 hours and 48 minutes of sheer thrill and entertainment.
00:33:49Hairs on the back of our necks going up now, because we know that the prize fighter has just been woken,
00:33:55and he is about to get out there and just take the battle.
00:33:59I do believe that is the quickest lap time of the race so far, I think it is.
00:34:03Unless something's happened at 3 in the morning we didn't know about.
00:34:05We're talking about the number one Peugeot, by the way, of Davidson,
00:34:08and that's what McNish has got to fight against out there.
00:34:12There was Montagne who did a 3.19.8, you're quite right, and this is a 3.19.5.
00:34:16So, young Ant doing a great job out there for Peugeot,
00:34:20but is he going to be able to pull back one lap, even at that speed?
00:34:24And what, I think, is that, who's just gotten into that car there?
00:34:28Alan McNish.
00:34:29That's what I thought it was, but then I thought he was in before.
00:34:32So, I was about to say, what better person to take on the task?
00:34:35Dindo's just got out, and Nishi goes out.
00:34:39McNish then heads back out, and, yes, this is that sad side,
00:34:44off the back of the low loader.
00:34:46It actually doesn't look too bad, but, well, yes, all the damage is in the internals.
00:34:51You saw the big fire earlier on, engine let go, and, yes, Jeremy Short, incidentally,
00:34:57is down just trying to find out what's happened to the 11 car,
00:35:00and it looks like it may well be all done.
00:35:03They've got, I don't think they've got a chance of getting back within the percentages
00:35:06off the lead car's pace within the next, what, 48 minutes or so.
00:35:13And so, I think the shutters will be coming down on the 11 car,
00:35:15which is a real shame, because they've ridden against,
00:35:18battled against adversity throughout at Dresden Racing,
00:35:22and the Lola Judd Coupe, unfortunately, I don't think is going to come back.
00:35:26It's not declared out just yet, by the way,
00:35:28but the 2 Peugeot is heading back and into its own garage.
00:35:32It's not going to go to the car graveyard.
00:35:34They're going to give it some respect and have a look at it here,
00:35:36but it is all over.
00:35:38The black line is already through it.
00:35:39It is officially retired.
00:35:41It's just a question of keeping it safe
00:35:43and not having a crowd of, well, even interested journos around it.
00:35:48Thank you and good night.
00:35:49And there is the telltale sign of a finished Le Mans.
00:35:5424 hours for another car.
00:35:55The shutters are down.
00:35:57Persia number two is finished.
00:35:59So, Alan McNish is on track.
00:36:01He's in the seven car.
00:36:03Unfortunately for him, a very, very quick 10 seconds difference
00:36:06between the two of them.
00:36:07I know it was an outlap for Alan McNish,
00:36:09but actually Davidson has just done a 3.19.527.
00:36:14He's in the third sector as well right now.
00:36:17We're on board with the one car.
00:36:18Now, they're in a provisional podium position right now.
00:36:22The track has thinned out just a little bit in terms of the course,
00:36:25in terms of cars on the course, I should say.
00:36:2937 vehicles in total at the moment are left and racing.
00:36:33It gives the Hankook a big flash as he comes through.
00:36:35You better not hold me up because I mean business.
00:36:38He's got an Audi in front of him.
00:36:40Not sure who it is on course at the moment.
00:36:42It's the eight car of FASTA, I think, with a couple of lights up.
00:36:45But we have to double confirm these things.
00:36:47We've got two lights on the side.
00:36:49Very second in class.
00:36:50And this, yet again, is going to be another one ticked off on what is a long list here.
00:36:56Davidson at the moment is a lap behind.
00:36:59This is terrific, terrific racing.
00:37:01Look how much quicker he is as he comes along.
00:37:04You can just see him reining in the Audi,
00:37:06and it's almost as if the Audi's got nothing he can do.
00:37:08And I mean, Marcel Fasler is no slow driver himself.
00:37:11So this is just incredible.
00:37:12Let's watch him on the Mulsanne straight here.
00:37:14It just shows the power that Peugeot's maybe just gone a little bit more than Audi.
00:37:18Yeah, and it is a big flat car, the Audi, at the front,
00:37:21and it punches a big hole in the air.
00:37:23The Peugeot, it looks like it would possibly be less disturbed
00:37:26by any turbulence out the back as well
00:37:28because of its smooth aquiline shape.
00:37:31And it certainly has a great approach speed on these long, long straights,
00:37:36I should say, as exactly what you're saying, Liz.
00:37:38And look at him now.
00:37:39He's getting into that slipstream.
00:37:41He's going to be hampered here.
00:37:42This is his moment.
00:37:43Oh, he's all over, and he's off towards one side of the track.
00:37:47I hope he hasn't picked up anything nasty there.
00:37:49He had to take his opportunity.
00:37:51Well, that was gutsy, but we'll see if there's any consequences for him.
00:37:56There's an awful lot of rubbish at the side of the track,
00:37:59and Liz Halliday is almost in a ball here,
00:38:02just did not want to watch that.
00:38:04He's okay.
00:38:05He's just a mid, and Anthony's...
00:38:07That wasn't just gutsy.
00:38:08That was risky.
00:38:09Not only that, but he's immediately been given a track limits warming.
00:38:13So if he does that again, he could find himself with a drive-through.
00:38:16Yes, it has a very, very big red patch.
00:38:19Now, I don't suppose...
00:38:20He has a deserving advantage.
00:38:24He clearly got a quicker car at the time.
00:38:27But look at this.
00:38:28This was a dangerous manoeuvre.
00:38:29Now, those red marks are there for a reason.
00:38:32It's not just because royalty popped by here occasionally.
00:38:35Look at this.
00:38:36That was...
00:38:38Oh, dearie me.
00:38:39He was struggling to regain control there,
00:38:41and finally got the grip he needed,
00:38:43and was able to get the brakes on when he needed as well.
00:38:47But that was a gutsy move.
00:38:49All or nothing, it seems.
00:38:50And he could have ended up with nothing, Liz.
00:38:53Let's just see what the faces of the Peugeot Garage are saying right now.
00:38:57Oh, no, this is not good.
00:38:59We've got a slow-moving car on track.
00:39:01Yes, and it's our Corvette.
00:39:04Yes, it's a 73 car.
00:39:05And that is a real shame.
00:39:09Don't like to see that at all.
00:39:10They're second in class.
00:39:12It is second in class.
00:39:13It's the Saline that leads this one.
00:39:16And I'm just looking at the laps,
00:39:17and they were making inroads there.
00:39:19They were two laps down.
00:39:21Two laps down.
00:39:22Do you know where they are on course at the moment?
00:39:24Yes.
00:39:26That's...
00:39:27I can't really tell where they are, actually.
00:39:29Well, there we are.
00:39:31There's the camber full of it.
00:39:32And as we pull back a little bit...
00:39:34It's coming into Indianapolis, isn't it?
00:39:36It might be.
00:39:37Possibly.
00:39:37There's a brave Marshalls running across the track there.
00:39:40I think it does look like Indianapolis.
00:39:42That looks like the right hand before...
00:39:44Yeah, he's just got a little bit of solid tarmac here
00:39:48off the racetrack.
00:39:51And that's good news to a certain extent.
00:39:54But we're really picking up crumbs here
00:39:56on what has been a difficult time for the Corvettes
00:40:00in that GT1 class.
00:40:02Saline are the leaders.
00:40:03And Julian Canal is on board.
00:40:06Look at this, though.
00:40:07Davidson is doing an amazing job.
00:40:09He's going through traffic here
00:40:10as he approaches another one of the Corvettes,
00:40:12the 72 car,
00:40:14which has its problems earlier in the evening.
00:40:17And only in this race,
00:40:19we're back into another day entirely, of course.
00:40:21It's what the 24 hours constantly shocks you.
00:40:23It doesn't matter how many times you come here,
00:40:25you suddenly realise just how massive the task is.
00:40:28I think you don't actually fully appreciate it
00:40:30every single time you come
00:40:31until you get into the commentary position
00:40:34and you think, there's 15 hours to go.
00:40:37And we've already had such an enormous amount of action so far.
00:40:41And likewise now, we still have six hours and 40-odd minutes remaining here.
00:40:47And so there is time for Peugeot to take the victory here.
00:40:51And they are busy, busy, busy bees on track at the moment.
00:40:55They only trailed the leader by one lap
00:40:57and he's just on a 320.06.
00:41:00Six points, 6.1 seconds quicker
00:41:04than Romain Dumas in the number nine Audi.
00:41:08They're on a mission.
00:41:09Is it mission impossible?
00:41:10You'll only find out if you stay right here live on Eurosport.

00:41:16Click on the message board.
00:41:17Scroll down to Motorsports.
00:41:19If you click Le Mans
00:41:20and then the topic area where you find the thread,
00:41:23which is new, exclamation mark,
00:41:26Eurosport 2010 Le Mans live.
00:41:29We are live and we will be having a chat with you
00:41:33and your thoughts as to whether Peugeot can or can't do it.
00:41:37And any other questions that you might like to pose
00:41:39to either Mark Cole or Liz Halliday.
00:41:43And if you're very brave to me,
00:41:45we'll be back in a few moments.
00:41:47Number nine's got a warning.
00:41:53Track limits as well.
00:41:55They are starting to get a bit twitchy Audi up front.
00:41:59Romain Dumas is also starting to short track here
00:42:01and the chase is on.
00:42:04Anthony Davidson in the one car.
00:42:06Marceau Fasca is in front of him in the eight car
00:42:08and our lead car is the Audi of Romain Dumas.
00:42:12It's Audi one and two with Peugeot three and five.
00:42:16Don't count out Lapierre in the four car,
00:42:17but they've got a couple of issues going down out there.
00:42:21But really our focus is on the number one here.
00:42:24Can it be worthy of the number?
00:42:25Well, it certainly is at the moment
00:42:26because the laps that they're posting
00:42:28are just not being bettered by anyone on track at the moment.
00:42:32Peugeot are on an absolute flyer
00:42:33and Lapierre has just done a 3.23.
00:42:36Audi has just come in.
00:42:37This is Marcel Fasca in the eight car, Mark.
00:42:39Yeah, this is the car we just saw being monstered
00:42:42by Anthony Davidson down the Mulsanne Strait
00:42:45where Anthony went over onto the Red Strip,
00:42:47got a track warning limit.
00:42:49Now we've got another warning for Romain Dumas.
00:42:52He's been given a track limit warning as well.
00:42:56Anthony Davidson has just gone, as Liz points out,
00:42:58through the opening sector here
00:43:00in a car record time of 31.5 seconds.
00:43:05Not just a car record, a race record time.
00:43:08A race record time, exactly.
00:43:10I mean, all cars, phenomenal.
00:43:14So, hold on to your hats
00:43:15because Anthony Davidson is on a charge.
00:43:17He knows as well that Fasca's just come in
00:43:19and so that's the reason why he's got extra spur here.
00:43:23Absolutely.
00:43:23I think the team orders are going to be,
00:43:25come on, mate, go as quick as you can and pass him
00:43:28and they will be telling him on the radio as well
00:43:30that he's just had a pit
00:43:30and also they'll be telling him
00:43:32what times they've been doing in front of him
00:43:35which is definitely the way all of these teams would work.
00:43:37They'd say, look, here's your gap from you to this car.
00:43:40Here's the times they're doing.
00:43:42Here's how fast you can reel them in if you do this time.
00:43:44Well, as cars do pit, the track becomes more open.
00:43:49He looks like he's almost on his own here.
00:43:51It almost looks like a testing day
00:43:52and he's going very, very quickly
00:43:55as you quite rightly pointed out.
00:43:57The race fastest opening sector,
00:44:02we're just waiting for sector two.
00:44:03It may well be held up just a little bit.
00:44:05That's a nice turn in here
00:44:06and he's been given a lot of space by the Ferrari
00:44:08to do his thing
00:44:09and he's doing it right now.
00:44:10He is and he's actually,
00:44:12although he's going very quickly
00:44:14and just charging through the traffic,
00:44:15for the most part,
00:44:16he's actually really thinking about where he passes
00:44:18and passing in safe distances.
00:44:20You must think about that thing
00:44:21when you're racing with GT cars as well
00:44:23that they're still pushing hard in their race as well
00:44:25so you can't just pass them on the outside
00:44:28and everything when they're committed.
00:44:29So these top drivers really do think about that
00:44:31and you can see them never losing pace
00:44:33but judging their way through the traffic
00:44:35which is so impressive to see.
00:44:38Mark, it's one heck of a scrap we've got going on here.
00:44:41I'm just tracking Andy Davidson.
00:44:43He's very, very quick at the moment.
00:44:44His last lap was a 323.095
00:44:48but he's absolutely on fire.
00:44:50He's really got the bit between his teeth here
00:44:52and I think you should have put
00:44:54your little bedding counter
00:44:55perhaps on the Peugeot here.
00:44:58He's on a mission
00:44:59and it's looking possible.
00:45:01Yeah, they've got nothing to lose, have they?
00:45:03I mean, if they stay where they are,
00:45:05they're going to finish third.
00:45:06So why...
00:45:06Oh dear!
00:45:07Oh dear!
00:45:09Contact!
00:45:10And he might get called for that!
00:45:11He might get called for that!
00:45:12He should get called for that!
00:45:13He absolutely should!
00:45:15Whoa!
00:45:15That's a big one!
00:45:18Well...
00:45:19And round they come here
00:45:21and there's bits of that Corvette
00:45:23all over the shop here
00:45:24and I think he's...
00:45:26I think that was his fault.
00:45:28He was on an absolute charge.
00:45:29It was absolutely his fault.
00:45:31There we are.
00:45:31You've got it from Liz as well.
00:45:32Right after I've just bigged them up.
00:45:34Wow!
00:45:35It is...
00:45:35For all the viewers to know,
00:45:38it is the overtaking car's responsibility
00:45:40to pass the slower car safely
00:45:42and that was not going to happen.
00:45:44And not only that,
00:45:45if you are in a quicker class,
00:45:47you have to respect those who are on course
00:45:49and he has just, looks like,
00:45:52potentially ended the race
00:45:53for one of the Corvettes here.
00:45:55And watch this.
00:45:57Nightmare scenario.
00:45:59Peugeot on an absolute charge
00:46:01and sadly for that vehicle,
00:46:04the 64 Corvette,
00:46:05which was leading class.
00:46:06It's a Mani Collard.
00:46:08Couldn't see it up front.
00:46:09Didn't want to say,
00:46:10count all your chickens
00:46:11just in case it was one of the others
00:46:15further down the order.
00:46:16But my goodness,
00:46:18that is such a shame
00:46:20and Corvette can't believe it.
00:46:21They'll be calling for heads to roll here.
00:46:24You can be sure.
00:46:25And that car doesn't look like
00:46:26it's going anywhere quick.
00:46:28Now the only thing I can say
00:46:29is that in that very particular part of the circuit,
00:46:31it's very, very difficult to be overtaken.
00:46:34Because you are so committed in that portion
00:46:36and it's very hard to check your mirrors
00:46:38while you're there.
00:46:39And I've been in that situation before
00:46:40where actually I've been passed by an Audi,
00:46:42things like that,
00:46:43and thought,
00:46:43my God,
00:46:43I didn't even know they were there.
00:46:44Because you're so focused
00:46:45on your own portion of the circuit.
00:46:47But I do believe
00:46:49that the Peugeot
00:46:50should have been more patient there.
00:46:51They know that the cars are committed.
00:46:53They know that they have to make that line
00:46:54to make it back out again.
00:46:56So he knew that Corvette
00:46:57needed to turn in there.
00:46:59Now then,
00:46:59a big call then
00:47:01for the race commissaires here, Mark.
00:47:03Your opinion.
00:47:04Well,
00:47:05last year,
00:47:05our friend and colleague Stuart Hall
00:47:07was excluded from the race
00:47:08when a similar accident happened
00:47:10involving the Brookladdy car
00:47:11and his Aston Martins.
00:47:12We've just seen the same thing again.
00:47:14Anthony Davidson
00:47:15is a Peugeot driver.
00:47:16Whether he's driving a French car
00:47:17will make any difference.
00:47:18But one would hope
00:47:20if they do it to others,
00:47:21they're going to continue.
00:47:23Yes,
00:47:23as if by Magic,
00:47:24Stuart Hall comes in
00:47:25and gives them the thumbs up
00:47:26and they're like,
00:47:27yes,
00:47:27quite right.
00:47:28There we are.
00:47:30He's actually managed
00:47:30to get it going here.
00:47:32It took a brief hiatus,
00:47:33but he's back
00:47:35and coming in.
00:47:37Yes,
00:47:37you're looking at the 64 car
00:47:39and unfortunately,
00:47:40it's been heavily remodified
00:47:41after being clipped
00:47:43by Anthony Davidson
00:47:44as he was going
00:47:46by here.
00:47:48And unfortunately,
00:47:49we believe,
00:47:52well,
00:47:52we will just have to wait
00:47:53and see,
00:47:53that it was the fault
00:47:55of the number one car here.
00:47:57And that's a real shame.
00:47:58Corvette,
00:47:58they're just getting on with it
00:48:00and thankfully,
00:48:01it's not that far away
00:48:02from the entry here.
00:48:04And in he comes, Mark.
00:48:05Yes,
00:48:06but Manu is not exactly
00:48:07hanging back.
00:48:07He's just pushing as hard
00:48:09as he can
00:48:10to get into the pit lane.
00:48:11He will not be happy at all.
00:48:13And I have to say,
00:48:13you know,
00:48:14having seen that accident
00:48:14the second time,
00:48:15the only thing I can say
00:48:16is that it would be a toss-up
00:48:19at that speed
00:48:20for the Peugeot.
00:48:20He's probably thought,
00:48:21he must have seen me.
00:48:22He's a professional driver.
00:48:23But I still think
00:48:25it's the Peugeot's,
00:48:26you know,
00:48:26it's their job
00:48:27to look after them
00:48:27and they know
00:48:28that you can't be looking
00:48:29in your mirrors
00:48:29coming through that portion.
00:48:30Well,
00:48:31that's in mitigation
00:48:33and we will see.
00:48:35It's not for us
00:48:36to decide at all.
00:48:37So they fuel it up,
00:48:38which is a great thing
00:48:39to do
00:48:39when the back end
00:48:41is so,
00:48:43so nasty.
00:48:44Look at this.
00:48:44They're ready to work
00:48:46and they're in the garage
00:48:48right now.
00:48:48Just checking out,
00:48:49they have,
00:48:50Mark Leib incidentally,
00:48:52is in second place
00:48:53and is likely
00:48:53to be promoted here.
00:48:54He's only a lap down
00:48:56and suddenly
00:48:57this game
00:48:58may well come to Porsche.
00:48:59It's,
00:49:00it's,
00:49:01it's phenomenal.
00:49:02But Porsche
00:49:03that looked like
00:49:04they were
00:49:05the poor cousins
00:49:06of not only the Corvettes
00:49:07but the Ferraris
00:49:07in this race,
00:49:08all of a sudden
00:49:09they could well
00:49:10find themselves
00:49:11in the lead.
00:49:11Just bats into
00:49:13the board man here.
00:49:14And the number one
00:49:16car lights out.
00:49:17The cleanup operation
00:49:18begins and
00:49:19believe me,
00:49:21the race stewards
00:49:21are going to be
00:49:22looking at that incident
00:49:23and trying to make
00:49:23a decision.
00:49:25If they do decide
00:49:26to impose
00:49:26some sort of sanction
00:49:27on Anthony Davidson
00:49:29and the Peugeot
00:49:30number one car here,
00:49:31it's going to be
00:49:32a bit of a race killer
00:49:33unfortunately.
00:49:35It'll be interesting
00:49:36to see if anybody
00:49:37from Corvette
00:49:37goes to have a little bit
00:49:38of a chat with Peugeot.
00:49:39I'm guessing not
00:49:40because they will
00:49:41hold their own face
00:49:43and be working
00:49:43on their own car
00:49:44and they're so diplomatic
00:49:46those Corvette boys
00:49:47but it's so sad to see
00:49:49because they're both
00:49:50professional drivers
00:49:51both running
00:49:51at the top end
00:49:53of their class
00:49:53but absolutely
00:49:55shouldn't be happening
00:49:56I think.
00:49:56Yeah, but now
00:49:57they're working
00:49:57on Davidson's car here.
00:49:59There's damage
00:50:00to be patched up
00:50:01isn't there?
00:50:01But that was
00:50:01the other side
00:50:02that...
00:50:03Yeah, this was
00:50:04the loose panel
00:50:05that we saw
00:50:05a little bit earlier on
00:50:06and they've decided
00:50:07to get that
00:50:08sorted out as well.
00:50:09I think they've been
00:50:10good boys basically.
00:50:11Look how tidy
00:50:12we're making our car.
00:50:13So it's clearly
00:50:15been mentioned
00:50:15as something
00:50:16that they have to fix
00:50:16at some point.
00:50:18I'd say they thought
00:50:18they'd fix it right now
00:50:19while they're trying
00:50:21to at least massage
00:50:23perhaps any decision
00:50:25that might be made
00:50:25against them.
00:50:26Now then,
00:50:27a lot of talking
00:50:28going on here
00:50:29a lot of big
00:50:30big handshaking
00:50:31going on as well
00:50:33and the reason is
00:50:33it's the 77 crew
00:50:36have suddenly
00:50:36woken up down there
00:50:38and the Felbermayer
00:50:39outfit may well
00:50:40find themselves
00:50:41in a fantastic position.
00:50:43Ferrari as well
00:50:43with Torvillanda
00:50:44in the 95 car.
00:50:46That's where we were
00:50:47I think
00:50:47with Giancarlo Fisichella
00:50:49the Ferrari 430.
00:50:50They're going to be
00:50:51promoted into
00:50:52what second place
00:50:53if this goes on
00:50:55for a long, long time
00:50:56and it's inevitable
00:50:58this when you look
00:50:59at the amount
00:50:59of damage
00:51:00that they've got there.
00:51:01This is big boys
00:51:02work to try
00:51:03and pull this off.
00:51:04I think if anybody
00:51:05can do it
00:51:05it's going to be
00:51:06the boys of Pratt & Miller.
00:51:07I think they're going
00:51:07to do the best thing
00:51:08they can possibly do
00:51:10to put this car
00:51:10back on the track
00:51:11but what we're seeing
00:51:12now suddenly
00:51:13is we're going back
00:51:14to our Porsche Ferrari
00:51:15battle that we had
00:51:16last year.
00:51:16It's going to be
00:51:16Porsche, Ferrari,
00:51:17Ferrari, Porsche
00:51:18so gosh
00:51:20I didn't think
00:51:22this would happen
00:51:22this way.
00:51:22I have to be honest
00:51:23I really thought
00:51:24the Corvette
00:51:24was going to be there
00:51:25at the front
00:51:25to the end
00:51:26and I think
00:51:26they probably would
00:51:27have been
00:51:27if this hadn't happened.
00:51:29Yeah but interesting
00:51:30this will also bring
00:51:31the farm back
00:51:31of Porsche
00:51:32up into third
00:51:33weren't it?
00:51:33The 89 car
00:51:34so that's looking
00:51:35very very good
00:51:36so three factory cars
00:51:37in fact
00:51:37all stacking up
00:51:39now to take place
00:51:40from here.
00:51:40It's actually
00:51:41the Farnbacher Ferrari.
00:51:42Yeah I'm sorry
00:51:43the Ferrari
00:51:43Dominic Farnbacher
00:51:44Alan Simonson
00:51:45and Lee Keane
00:51:46American colleague
00:51:48of yours Liz.
00:51:49Safety car is out
00:51:50as Liz just hands
00:51:51over the mic
00:51:52to Stuart Hall
00:51:53who's I'm sure
00:51:54got an opinion
00:51:55on what happened
00:51:56out there.
00:51:57The safety car
00:51:58has been deployed.
00:51:59This will be for
00:52:00the rubbish
00:52:00on the track
00:52:01down at the Porsche
00:52:02curve.
00:52:02A lot of mud
00:52:03which is precisely
00:52:04what you do not want
00:52:05and you can cope
00:52:05with a bit of gravel
00:52:06perhaps on occasion
00:52:07because it does
00:52:08generally get
00:52:09pinged off the track
00:52:10when it's mud
00:52:11and especially
00:52:11when it's kind of
00:52:12dampish
00:52:13because of the weather
00:52:14that we've had
00:52:15of late
00:52:15it's going to stick there
00:52:17and that can be
00:52:17a real issue
00:52:19especially on that
00:52:20part of the course
00:52:21which was a very
00:52:22very fast mark
00:52:23where the incident
00:52:24happened.
00:52:25Yeah absolutely
00:52:26and Manu Collard
00:52:27as we've said
00:52:28an absolutely
00:52:29totally committed
00:52:30professional driver
00:52:31he's been a winner
00:52:32here many times
00:52:32at Le Mans
00:52:33but here he is
00:52:34put out of the race
00:52:35for the time being.
00:52:36We'll take ourselves
00:52:37a short commercial break
00:52:38we'll get your opinions
00:52:40on the website
00:52:41as well
00:52:41in just a few moments
00:52:42time
00:52:43and we'll be talking
00:52:43to Stuart Hall
00:52:44who knows what it's like
00:52:46to sit in front
00:52:46of the commissaries
00:52:47in just a moment.
00:52:50It's yet another
00:52:51safety car
00:52:52and this is
00:52:53the reason
00:52:53the number one
00:52:55Peugeot
00:52:55fighting to get back
00:52:56amongst the leaders
00:52:58just we think
00:52:59responsible
00:53:00for that incident
00:53:01and just as
00:53:03a timing screen
00:53:03blank out
00:53:04and a lot of
00:53:05debris out there
00:53:06and a lot of mud
00:53:08dragged onto the course
00:53:09which has got us
00:53:10a clean up
00:53:11operation.
00:53:12Now the safety car
00:53:13being deployed
00:53:13will perhaps play
00:53:14into the hands
00:53:15of these boys
00:53:15because the whole
00:53:17field is actually
00:53:17slowed
00:53:18and so the 64 car
00:53:20is in fact still
00:53:20listed as in the lead
00:53:22although Mark Lieb
00:53:23is going to be
00:53:23circulating here
00:53:24and that looks like
00:53:24we might have
00:53:25barrier repairs
00:53:26to be done here
00:53:26as well
00:53:27very much dislodged
00:53:29concrete stanchion
00:53:30which just sits
00:53:31behind that
00:53:32is also out of place
00:53:33so it may well
00:53:35be a long one
00:53:36this which gives
00:53:37us the opportunity
00:53:37for two things
00:53:39we've got Stuart
00:53:39Hall who knows
00:53:41all about sitting
00:53:41in front of
00:53:42comments
00:53:42who has joined
00:53:43us
00:53:43and we've got
00:53:43Mark Cole
00:53:44who's got his
00:53:44finger in the air
00:53:45yeah well let's
00:53:45we've got Stuart
00:53:47here
00:53:47Cadpig has just
00:53:48posted this
00:53:51is it likely
00:53:51the ACO
00:53:52will exclude
00:53:53Anthony Davidson
00:53:54as it's a
00:53:54French car
00:53:55he is in
00:53:56we were all
00:53:56very upset
00:53:57about Stuart's
00:53:58exclusion last year
00:53:59in the Aston
00:54:00Martin
00:54:00and here is Stuart
00:54:01yes it's a
00:54:03difficult one
00:54:04to face Stuart
00:54:05whenever you're
00:54:06a driver that's
00:54:07doing your job
00:54:07essentially
00:54:08to go as
00:54:09quickly as
00:54:10possible
00:54:10but let's
00:54:11talk about
00:54:12this incident
00:54:12first
00:54:13yes it's
00:54:15very very easy
00:54:16to speculate
00:54:16but those
00:54:18sort of incidents
00:54:19happen all the
00:54:20time in sports
00:54:21cars that's
00:54:21pass and
00:54:21pass of what
00:54:22it is you
00:54:22know you've
00:54:23got quicker
00:54:23cars passing
00:54:24slower cars
00:54:25and inevitably
00:54:25occasionally
00:54:26you do get
00:54:26contact
00:54:27from the angle
00:54:29we saw
00:54:30and it's
00:54:30very easy
00:54:30to speculate
00:54:31because
00:54:32incidents are
00:54:33seen from
00:54:33many angles
00:54:34and they do
00:54:34look different
00:54:35from many angles
00:54:35certainly in my
00:54:36case last year
00:54:37but it does
00:54:39look to me
00:54:39that Ant
00:54:40was actually
00:54:41fairly
00:54:42alongside
00:54:43Manu
00:54:43and they
00:54:44just came
00:54:44together
00:54:45you know
00:54:47the Porsche
00:54:47curves is
00:54:48very very
00:54:48very narrow
00:54:48it's difficult
00:54:50to pass
00:54:51you know
00:54:51a car
00:54:52through a
00:54:53slower corner
00:54:54there but
00:54:54that was
00:54:54one of the
00:54:54very quick
00:54:55left-anders
00:54:55and I think
00:54:58they both came
00:54:58through it
00:54:59and the inevitable
00:54:59result was
00:55:00a little bit
00:55:01of contact
00:55:01and it only
00:55:03needed the slightest
00:55:04of touches
00:55:04and as we saw
00:55:05Manu's had quite
00:55:05a big accident
00:55:06and probably
00:55:08ruined their race
00:55:10at the moment
00:55:10but it's easy
00:55:12to place blame
00:55:14but that is a
00:55:15very very difficult
00:55:16part of the circuit
00:55:17as Liz will confirm
00:55:19and it's very easy
00:55:21to do
00:55:21and you can't
00:55:23really put fault
00:55:23at that
00:55:24both cars
00:55:25were fairly
00:55:25alongside each
00:55:26other
00:55:26they seem
00:55:26to have touched
00:55:27and the resulting
00:55:29contact is Manu's
00:55:31come off worse
00:55:31and I think
00:55:33Ant's got away
00:55:33with it
00:55:33I think the
00:55:34difficulty there
00:55:35is actually
00:55:35now that I've
00:55:36seen it a couple
00:55:36of times
00:55:36it's difficult
00:55:38in that exact
00:55:39portion where
00:55:39he passed him
00:55:40it's the point
00:55:41where Manu
00:55:41would have had
00:55:42to have turned
00:55:42in and has
00:55:43probably stopped
00:55:43looking in his
00:55:44mirrors
00:55:44and that's
00:55:45the trouble
00:55:45is the Persia's
00:55:46are so fast
00:55:47and they come up
00:55:47so quick
00:55:48that he would
00:55:49have checked
00:55:49before he'd
00:55:50entered the Porsche
00:55:50curves
00:55:50and then probably
00:55:51not had a chance
00:55:51to check his
00:55:52mirrors again
00:55:52and I think
00:55:53there's
00:55:54I do still feel
00:55:55the passing car
00:55:56should have been
00:55:56looking after
00:55:57that side of it
00:55:58and he should
00:55:58know that
00:55:59he needed to
00:56:00turn in at that
00:56:00point
00:56:00listen Stuart
00:56:02Andy Mack
00:56:02on the forum
00:56:03puts a little
00:56:03spin on it
00:56:04he said it
00:56:04looked to me
00:56:05as if the
00:56:05Corvette
00:56:05went to turn
00:56:06in
00:56:06realised Ant
00:56:07was there
00:56:07then went
00:56:08to twitch
00:56:08back to the
00:56:09right
00:56:09and lost
00:56:09control
00:56:10on his own
00:56:10volition
00:56:11I think a
00:56:12penalty
00:56:12would be
00:56:12too harsh
00:56:13Liz is shaking
00:56:15her head
00:56:15he definitely
00:56:16got hit
00:56:17he did get hit
00:56:19Liz is shaking
00:56:20her head
00:56:20he certainly
00:56:21did get hit
00:56:21and I think
00:56:22from the angle
00:56:23we view
00:56:23that is a
00:56:24very fair
00:56:24assumption
00:56:25you did see
00:56:26the Corvette
00:56:27turn in
00:56:27but what you
00:56:28didn't see
00:56:28is what
00:56:29angle
00:56:29the Peugeot
00:56:30was at
00:56:30as well
00:56:31so like we
00:56:33say it's
00:56:33very easy
00:56:33to speculate
00:56:34I think a
00:56:35penalty would
00:56:35be very harsh
00:56:36I don't think
00:56:37it deserves
00:56:38a penalty
00:56:38I thought it
00:56:39was quite harsh
00:56:39last year
00:56:40no I definitely
00:56:40don't think
00:56:41it deserves
00:56:41a penalty
00:56:41it was a bit
00:56:42more blatant
00:56:42than that
00:56:43but
00:56:43I think
00:56:45I'm pretty
00:56:45generous
00:56:46of you there
00:56:46Stuart
00:56:46no no
00:56:47there's no
00:56:49point
00:56:49speaking
00:56:50too much
00:56:51in depth
00:56:51about last
00:56:51it's happened
00:56:52we're here
00:56:54in 2010
00:56:55and we've just
00:56:55had an accident
00:56:57we need to
00:56:58comment on it
00:56:59and I think
00:56:59it is a
00:57:01racing incident
00:57:02those sort of
00:57:02things happen
00:57:03in sports cars
00:57:03all the time
00:57:04you've probably
00:57:05had that sort
00:57:05of situation
00:57:06happen

00:57:08during this race
00:57:09it's just
00:57:09the car
00:57:10it's happened
00:57:10to hasn't
00:57:11had a big
00:57:11shunt
00:57:11it's just
00:57:12about body
00:57:13work
00:57:13it just happens
00:57:13that it's been
00:57:14at the Porsche
00:57:14curves
00:57:15there's been
00:57:15no Martin
00:57:15Ferrer
00:57:16and it's
00:57:17been an accident
00:57:17once again
00:57:18Hugh de Schoenak's
00:57:19car
00:57:19the Eureka
00:57:20car
00:57:20held up
00:57:21at the pit
00:57:21lane entrance
00:57:22and Carlton
00:57:23again this
00:57:23problem about
00:57:24three safety
00:57:25cars
00:57:25cars being
00:57:26held up
00:57:26for nearly
00:57:27half a lap
00:57:28if they've
00:57:28been in the
00:57:29pits
00:57:29everyone came
00:57:30in of course
00:57:30yes
00:57:31it's caused
00:57:33all kinds
00:57:33of consternation
00:57:36particularly amongst
00:57:37the Audi
00:57:37crew
00:57:38earlier on
00:57:39today
00:57:40as we just
00:57:40watched the
00:57:4177 car
00:57:42just rattling
00:57:43it through
00:57:43this is our
00:57:44leader incidentally
00:57:44the 77 car
00:57:46was in GT2
00:57:46the GT1
00:57:47leader is the
00:57:48Saline
00:57:48which you've
00:57:49just seen
00:57:49and is that
00:57:50the J-Logs
00:57:50back out
00:57:51I don't know
00:57:54I don't know
00:57:54these earlier
00:57:55pictures
00:57:55you can't
00:57:55actually see it
00:57:56on course
00:57:57at the moment
00:57:58I think they
00:57:58are possibly
00:57:59done and
00:57:59dusted
00:58:00well
00:58:01who will
00:58:02join that
00:58:03long list
00:58:04of black lines
00:58:05drawn through
00:58:05numbers which we
00:58:06have in front
00:58:07of us here
00:58:07it seems to be
00:58:08a list
00:58:08that's continually
00:58:09expanding
00:58:10I hope for
00:58:11Corvette's sake
00:58:12that the 64
00:58:13car is going
00:58:14to be okay
00:58:14it's now
00:58:15incidentally
00:58:16just been passed
00:58:17by Mark
00:58:17Lieb
00:58:17he's a lap
00:58:20down that
00:58:21vehicle
00:58:21but they're
00:58:21working very
00:58:22very quickly
00:58:22and we've got
00:58:23a fantastic
00:58:23view here
00:58:24from our
00:58:25quarantine
00:58:25position
00:58:25straight down
00:58:26as we go
00:58:27green
00:58:27that was a
00:58:28very very
00:58:28quick
00:58:28clean up
00:58:29operation
00:58:30and Roman
00:58:30Dumas
00:58:31now
00:58:32we need
00:58:32to
00:58:32oh
00:58:33almost
00:58:33straight
00:58:33away
00:58:34on the
00:58:34restart
00:58:34the 39
00:58:35car takes
00:58:36itself
00:58:37a little
00:58:37spin
00:58:38and the
00:58:39Lola Judd
00:58:40is it
00:58:40Deportales
00:58:41is on board
00:58:41it's the guy
00:58:42who put it
00:58:42in the wall
00:58:42at Honage
00:58:43earlier
00:58:43he's still
00:58:44on board
00:58:44the car
00:58:44and there
00:58:45he is
00:58:45just loses
00:58:46is it
00:58:46maybe with
00:58:47a bit
00:58:48of help
00:58:48yeah
00:58:48by the
00:58:49young
00:58:50driver
00:58:50Aston
00:58:51well there
00:58:52you are
00:58:52I think
00:58:53possibly
00:58:53still maybe
00:58:55running slower
00:58:56than he possibly
00:58:56thought
00:58:57he should
00:58:58have been
00:58:58the car
00:58:59behind
00:58:59and yeah
00:59:01causing a
00:59:01little bit
00:59:02of a
00:59:02mobile
00:59:03chicane
00:59:03but he
00:59:04is in
00:59:05the gravel
00:59:05and we'll
00:59:07see whether
00:59:07he manages
00:59:07to extricate
00:59:08himself
00:59:08and get
00:59:09back
00:59:09for a bit
00:59:10of a
00:59:10clean up
00:59:10operation
00:59:11so
00:59:11we're just
00:59:12looking to
00:59:12see where
00:59:13the cars
00:59:13sit on
00:59:14track
00:59:15and waiting
00:59:15for them
00:59:15to roar
00:59:16buyers
00:59:16here
00:59:17they've
00:59:17lifted
00:59:17the red
00:59:18flag
00:59:18and we
00:59:19are going
00:59:19again
00:59:19it may
00:59:20well have
00:59:20been that
00:59:20there was
00:59:20only one
00:59:21safety car
00:59:21incidentally
00:59:22because the
00:59:22field was
00:59:23so dispersed
00:59:24they may
00:59:24well have
00:59:25been able
00:59:25to pick
00:59:26them up
00:59:26not quite
00:59:27sure
00:59:27do you
00:59:28think
00:59:28three
00:59:29mark
00:59:29on a
00:59:2913
00:59:30kilometre
00:59:30track
00:59:31you cannot
00:59:31just have
00:59:32one
00:59:32safety car
00:59:32you have
00:59:33to go
00:59:33round
00:59:33for five
00:59:34or six
00:59:34laps
00:59:35to catch
00:59:36up
00:59:36now I
00:59:37think
00:59:37it's
00:59:38just
00:59:38possible
00:59:38they could
00:59:39have
00:59:39reduced
00:59:39it to
00:59:39two
00:59:40by now
00:59:40with
00:59:40the
00:59:40less
00:59:41field
00:59:41and we
00:59:41actually
00:59:42at this
00:59:42moment
00:59:42have
00:59:42just
00:59:4332
00:59:43cars
00:59:44running
00:59:45look at
00:59:45this
00:59:45going on
00:59:46right now
00:59:47we've got
00:59:47the
00:59:47seven car
00:59:48here
00:59:48and he's
00:59:49tracking
00:59:49behind the
00:59:50Peugeot
00:59:51mark
00:59:51and guess
00:59:52who's in
00:59:52the seven
00:59:53car
00:59:53Alan
00:59:53McNish
00:59:54now he
00:59:54said
00:59:54if you
00:59:54needed
00:59:55a
00:59:55prize
00:59:55fighter
00:59:55there's
00:59:56one man
00:59:56that should
00:59:57be sent
00:59:57out there
00:59:58to do
00:59:58the job
00:59:59and it
01:00:00is
01:00:00Nishi
01:00:00we'll get
01:00:02a full
