00:00:00They had hoped once they got here.
00:00:01Yeah, Audi have been bulletproof here.
00:00:03They've had no mechanical problems at all with these cars.
00:00:05It's been an absolutely wonderful run for them.
00:00:08Just all came back to them.
00:00:09They were patient, they were solid, and they've been reliable.
00:00:12Now, just as we're looking at those pictures,
00:00:14Danny Watts has just left the pits.
00:00:17That's the LMP2 class leading HPT car.
00:00:21He's taken it over from Johnny Kane.
00:00:23He's going to do the final two stints.
00:00:24And that car, would you believe it, is now up to 7th place overall.
00:00:28Yes, it is.
00:00:29Or it will be as soon as it gets by Alexander Wurtz,
00:00:32which, well, that'll take a while, actually.
00:00:33He's 22.
00:00:35Oh, no.
00:00:35Got two hours to do it.
00:00:36Wurtz has just gone from the timing screens.
00:00:38Right.
00:00:38Wurtz has now been officially retired.
00:00:40He is an abandon.
00:00:42So, Bing, even as that sentence was forming,
00:00:44Danny Watts went from 8th to 7th.
00:00:46I was just jumping the gun, sorry.
00:00:49No, no, no.
00:00:49You were just looking into your crystal balls.
00:00:51Very well done, indeed.
00:00:52So, yeah, the Stracca team,
00:00:53and I was hearing from Marino Franchitti just a while ago,
00:00:57you know, the heartbreak at Highcroft.
00:01:00They brought the same package to the table.
00:01:02They had just as much pace in terms of car, engine, and driver.
00:01:05Not necessarily the rub of the luck.
00:01:08And, again, we talked about that at the beginning of the race
00:01:10and several times through.
00:01:11So, you need two things to win at Le Mans.
00:01:13You need luck, and you need good fuel mileage.
00:01:16Here's an interesting little thing.
00:01:17Danny Watts in 7th place overall,
00:01:19and behind him in 8th place,
00:01:21Adrian Fernandez in the low.
00:01:23Now, of course, Danny's team bought Adrian Fernandez this car.
00:01:27I wonder if this moment Adrian's thinking,
00:01:29hmm, maybe I should have stayed there.
00:01:31Well, I think, to be honest,
00:01:35I think Fernandez has a wonderful deal with Lola Aston Martin.
00:01:37That Lowe's sponsored car is, I believe,
00:01:40quite a few years' deal now that he's got going,
00:01:42and he will be enjoying every minute of driving that car.
00:01:45They've just had a bit of bad luck with the gearbox,
00:01:46but I think it would have been right behind the 009 car
00:01:49if they hadn't had the problem.
00:01:51But, certainly, Danny Watts' car has been leading
00:01:53right the way from the beginning, practically,
00:01:56and I think possibly one of the highest placings
00:01:58that LMP2 has had for a while.
00:02:00In fact, right behind him is one of the Lola Astons.
00:02:03Don't know whether it's 007 Adrian Fernandez
00:02:05or 009 Darren Turner,
00:02:07but it was flashing the headlights
00:02:08as the forlorn sight of the number one Peugeot
00:02:10sitting in the garage,
00:02:12abandoned by the team to its fate.
00:02:16Unfortunately, it coughed and spewed its cylinders out.
00:02:19Exactly the right-hand bank,
00:02:20exactly the same as the other car did as well.
00:02:23And that car is the second-place car, of course,
00:02:25in LMP2, the Oak Racing Pestro,
00:02:27Le Guillaume Morrow at the wheel at the moment.
00:02:30Well, we saw a minute ago, didn't we,
00:02:32Oog de Schoenach going and putting his arm
00:02:33around Olivier Canal,
00:02:34and this sort of real reversal there, you know,
00:02:37a man who has been through the mill at Le Mans
00:02:40so many times since that win
00:02:42where he orchestrated Mazda's win in 1991.
00:02:45And de Schoenach knows the heartbreak of not finishing.
00:02:48I mean, almost everybody who comes to Le Mans does.
00:02:50So he was able to offer a little bit of sympathy
00:02:53to Olivier Canal,
00:02:54but you can see there clearly the emotion of the moment
00:02:56is not lost on him either.
00:02:58There is still a slender chance
00:02:59his car might salvage a podium for Peugeot,
00:03:02but it is still only a slender chance.
00:03:05And Loic Duval is going to have to take it off Tom Christensen.
00:03:08That's not going to be easy in any man's game.
00:03:12However, we're looking right now,
00:03:13Loic Duval is doing a quicker lap time than Christensen.
00:03:16Tom Christensen has just done a 3.25.
00:03:18Duval has done a 3.22.
00:03:19And the team orders we heard
00:03:21were to push as hard as they can no matter what.
00:03:24RML car third in the LMP2 category at the moment
00:03:27after a catalogue of small trouble early in the day.
00:03:31We're going to switch over now
00:03:33to Eurosport International for the race finale.
00:03:37So thank you for being with us on Eurosport 2.
00:03:39Just flick up one channel
00:03:41and we'll be on the big bird in just a moment.
00:03:44On the other side of this break,
00:03:45we'll see you on Eurosport International
00:03:47and on British Eurosport 1.
00:03:49Until then, bye for now.
00:03:54Welcome back to Le Mans.
00:04:14Our coverage continues on British Eurosport
00:04:17and Eurosport International
00:04:18as Audi quite incredibly
00:04:20live first, second and third
00:04:23with an hour and 48 minutes of the race remaining.
00:04:26Of the four Peugeot that started this race,
00:04:28just one remains.
00:04:29Loic Duval in the Orica Run car in fourth place.
00:04:32Our best P2 car is the Stracker Racing HPD Acura.
00:04:37That is like seventh ahead of the Ope Racing
00:04:39and the lower HPD of RML.
00:04:44In GT2, the lead battle is now for 30 years overall.
00:04:48Knocking on the top ten markedly proportionally
00:04:51after the Gull West challenge.
00:04:54In GT1, the scene of Julian Canale and his colleagues
00:04:58has now crept up into 50th position.
00:05:01So, remarkable range of attrition through the night.
00:05:04After ten hours, we still had 40 build-off 55 starters.
00:05:08We're now down to 30 cars remaining from 55.
00:05:12And as ever, having run relatively free through the night
00:05:17when the sun came up,
00:05:18suddenly all those old cars seemed to fall by the wayside.
00:05:22Well, it's been a remarkable race in terms of twists of fate,
00:05:26but also, too, through some advances early on,
00:05:29a really close back of the GT2 was a really massive epic
00:05:33for quite a while.
00:05:34And we'll be joining you by Jill Campbell
00:05:37from Master Raceway, the Gull West.
00:05:39And our friend Jill,
00:05:41you've just seen the last of the American Art Series races
00:05:44at your circuit a couple of weeks ago.
00:05:46And I think it's sort of reflected the way
00:05:48that the car happens to be in the States this year as well.
00:05:51It's one very first.
00:05:52Oh, most certainly.
00:05:54I think that we're seeing some of the best racing
00:05:56that we've seen in many of the years,
00:05:58the GT battle.
00:06:00So, that was amazing.
00:06:03You know, it was like everybody wanted to win the GT class.
00:06:08And certainly the prototypes were out there doing their job,
00:06:12but the GT race were something spectacular to watch.
00:06:15It's funny, isn't it?
00:06:16You know, we're in a period of really severe economic strakes
00:06:19for car manufacturers and the fans
00:06:21and everybody else involved in the matter of racing.
00:06:25And yet, sports car racing seems to be having,
00:06:27you know, another breath.
00:06:29There's an increasing interest in more manufacturers
00:06:32than they ever heard of the GT class.
00:06:34And even the prototype fields with the LMP2 customer cars
00:06:37are looking really competitive.
00:06:39So, people still are managing to find the money
00:06:41to get on the table to go racing.
00:06:43So, this is a tremendous platform for manufacturers
00:06:46for research and development, you know,
00:06:48the going back to the old days of race today by tomorrow.
00:06:52This certainly works.
00:06:53And I think, like you say, seeing new teams coming in,
00:06:56and certainly, you know, it's a thrill for me
00:06:58to be able to come from America to Le Mans
00:07:00and see these teams racing here and doing their best.
00:07:05It's a wonderful opportunity to be effective
00:07:08to show their stuff.
00:07:09I think that, you know, unless you experience this,
00:07:13you really have no idea as to the, the truth of it.
00:07:18And I think that, you know,
00:07:20I think that, you know, unless you experience this,
00:07:24you've got an amazingly good idea of what the race is about,
00:07:28but there's an awful lot more.
00:07:30And we always ask, you know,
00:07:31are you going to win the way in that we come back?
00:07:33Do you know what about you?
00:07:34Oh, my goodness.
00:07:35I think that, you know, unless you experience this,
00:07:38you really have no idea
00:07:40as to the true essence of the world.
00:07:45I want to take some of this home.
00:07:46I know.
00:07:46Well, if you could follow it,
00:07:48it would be fantastic, wouldn't it?
00:07:49We're going to have a quick word
00:07:50with Dr. Volker Moritz-Giardy
00:07:52in just a moment,
00:07:53so stay with us there for a second job.
00:07:55Lloyd Duvall in the Opel Crosion,
00:07:58incidentally,
00:07:59now on a real quick.
00:08:01He's down below the 320s.
00:08:02And the fastest lap we've seen in Opel Crosion
00:08:04in the entire race
00:08:07has been a 321
00:08:09that the number one cup
00:08:10actually Davidson was doing
00:08:11in the middle of the night.
00:08:13Lloyd Duvall now down
00:08:14319.7
00:08:16I don't recall exactly what
00:08:17the whole position was,
00:08:18but he's going very early
00:08:20as quick as that.
00:08:21Now, let's have a look
00:08:22about the whole coverage.
00:08:23Dr. Volker,
00:08:24less than two hours to go
00:08:26and three cars
00:08:28in the front of the race.
00:08:31Yeah, this looks nice at present,
00:08:32but the race is over at 3 o'clock
00:08:34and we have made enough experience
00:08:38of being very cautious with that.
00:08:42So before it's 3 o'clock,
00:08:44you never can be sure.
00:08:47After the qualifier,
00:08:49everyone was saying,
00:08:50yeah, Audi seems really calm
00:08:52about the performance of Peugeot.
00:08:54And now we see that
00:08:56Peugeot has so many problems.
00:08:59That was a good strategy
00:09:00about Audi.
00:09:02I mean, we pushed very much
00:09:04on efficiency
00:09:05and on a car that we have developed
00:09:09nicely through a year
00:09:11and that we have been quite sure
00:09:14that we have our preparation done well.
00:09:17At the end,
00:09:18you see it in the race
00:09:19and for sure there is another two hours
00:09:21to go until now.
00:09:24It looked on the technical side
00:09:25quite smooth,
00:09:26but I don't want to comment this.
00:09:29It was maybe a bad sign.
00:09:31So I'm looking forward
00:09:32to the next two hours to pass
00:09:34and hopefully we are there
00:09:36where we want it to be
00:09:38at 3 o'clock.
00:09:41A more personal question,
00:09:43when do you sleep?
00:09:46Not on Saturday and Sunday.
00:09:53Well, I hope you heard that.
00:09:55I hope you didn't get
00:09:55a single word of it.
00:09:56I hope Dr. Horish
00:09:58was maybe a little more relaxed
00:09:59than he was early on
00:10:00when he went on
00:10:01to do Remonstrate
00:10:01severely with Charlie Lennon.
00:10:03It's an early Leuternberg
00:10:053.19, 7.32 last lap.
00:10:0821,000 of pole positions.
00:10:11So the pace of me
00:10:12really picking up
00:10:13and as you saw
00:10:15Olivia Cannell
00:10:16stepping down
00:10:16off the pit.
00:10:17And we're looking here
00:10:18at our GT Corvette.
00:10:20The battle for second place.
00:10:22The Aston Martin
00:10:23young driver's Aston
00:10:24and Peter Cox
00:10:25in second place.
00:10:26Peter Cox driving that car
00:10:27at the moment.
00:10:28Four minutes ahead
00:10:29of the Alphard
00:10:30mature Corvette
00:10:30with Jurek Wallycar
00:10:32and Will.
00:10:32And for that car now
00:10:34carrying the team's back
00:10:35and it looks like
00:10:36survival of the fittest
00:10:37is going to be
00:10:38their prime concern.
00:10:40And welcoming back
00:10:41Jeremy Shaw
00:10:42on to Eurosport
00:10:43airways
00:10:44for the race of the morning.
00:10:45And with us
00:10:46is Jill Campbell
00:10:46from Mazda Raceway
00:10:47to do the safety
00:10:48as well.
00:10:48And Jill
00:10:49listening on the radio
00:10:52to the six hours
00:10:53at Mazda Raceway
00:10:54the other week
00:10:55it did seem
00:10:56that pretty much
00:10:57lying here in the mall.
00:10:59It was
00:11:00for a six hour race
00:11:01it had all the hallmarks
00:11:03of being
00:11:03a ten lap sprint.
00:11:04It was a real
00:11:05bare knuckle fight
00:11:06all the way through.
00:11:06It was
00:11:07survival of the fittest
00:11:09every step of the way
00:11:10and
00:11:11watch these drivers
00:11:13who have to hold
00:11:15their concentration
00:11:16for so long
00:11:17for such a long period
00:11:18of time
00:11:19it just amazes
00:11:20it's no wonder
00:11:22there's so many
00:11:22about it over here.
00:11:24Well that's right
00:11:24and so much emotion
00:11:26as well
00:11:27I think all the teams
00:11:28have already been up
00:11:28well way over 24 hours
00:11:3036 hours
00:11:31counting now
00:11:32they will all be in the circuit
00:11:33around 6 or 7 o'clock
00:11:34Saturday morning
00:11:36after for a lot of
00:11:37a fairly long
00:11:38a tight week
00:11:38I mean some teams
00:11:39have major rebuilds
00:11:40each day
00:11:41during the day
00:11:43overnighters
00:11:44starting on Monday night
00:11:45and Tuesday night
00:11:46and so on
00:11:46so some of them
00:11:47are utterly running out
00:11:48before the race even starts
00:11:49which is hardly
00:11:50what you call ideal
00:11:51but on the other hand
00:11:52these boys
00:11:53you've got to fight
00:11:54this thing
00:11:55it is a little bit
00:11:56Jeremy Light
00:11:57wrestling an alligator
00:11:58really you know
00:11:59if you take your hand
00:12:00and snout
00:12:01you know you're going
00:12:02and you've just got to
00:12:03keep in battle
00:12:03until one of you
00:12:04keeps up
00:12:05yeah the best drug
00:12:07in the world
00:12:08adrenaline
00:12:08nice and natural
00:12:10love it
00:12:11indeed
00:12:12you were just talking
00:12:13about that fastest lap
00:12:14set at moments of two
00:12:15years by
00:12:16Duval
00:12:16and the fastest lap
00:12:18on the race so far
00:12:19I was talking about
00:12:21a while ago
00:12:21the fact that all
00:12:22three drivers
00:12:22that you've kind of
00:12:23but one
00:12:23set lap time
00:12:24for within the
00:12:253 minutes 19 range
00:12:27and I think you've
00:12:27said that
00:12:283 minutes 19
00:12:31point seven
00:12:31well the fastest lap
00:12:33of the race so far
00:12:34at 319.241
00:12:36we're not going to
00:12:36seem to be
00:12:37going faster
00:12:37at 319.241
00:12:39which I think
00:12:40was Anthony Davidson
00:12:41and that compares
00:12:43to the track record
00:12:44here
00:12:45at 319.394
00:12:47so
00:12:47a second or more
00:12:49quicker
00:12:49Anthony Davidson
00:12:52has gone
00:12:52than did
00:12:53Sebastian
00:12:54did
00:12:557 Sarazar
00:12:56two years ago
00:12:57and there's been
00:12:58a lot of restrictions
00:12:59put on these diesel
00:13:00cars since then
00:13:01again I think it
00:13:02shows the phenomenal
00:13:03step forward that
00:13:04Peugeot have made
00:13:05with the evolution
00:13:06of this car
00:13:06really very quick
00:13:08indeed this year
00:13:09yeah the race pace
00:13:10this year
00:13:115,6 miles quicker
00:13:12than just one year
00:13:13ago
00:13:14and that's despite
00:13:15some restrictions
00:13:15as you say
00:13:16a huge amount
00:13:17of development
00:13:17cars
00:13:18but there's tyres
00:13:19too
00:13:19I think we'll
00:13:19pass it up
00:13:20and underestimate
00:13:20that a little bit
00:13:21through this event
00:13:22because Michelin
00:13:23has put a lot
00:13:24of effort
00:13:24into developing
00:13:25these cars
00:13:25particularly
00:13:26in conjunction
00:13:27with the Peugeot
00:13:28team
00:13:29we're looking
00:13:29at the gap
00:13:30on the road
00:13:31between the
00:13:32Audi
00:13:33and the Peugeot
00:13:34I think that's
00:13:35what the director
00:13:35is looking for
00:13:36here
00:13:36Dindo Capello
00:13:38now at the wheel
00:13:39of car number
00:13:397
00:13:40and you saw him
00:13:41going through
00:13:41shot there
00:13:42it's Lloyd Duval
00:13:42behind him
00:13:43and that's
00:13:44what that gap
00:13:45looks like
00:13:45at the line
00:13:46last time
00:13:4632.7 seconds
00:13:48Dindo of course
00:13:49on his out lap
00:13:51they're likely
00:13:52to go out
00:13:53to find
00:13:54that means
00:13:55that it's a slightly
00:13:55different strategy
00:13:57that may come
00:13:59into play
00:14:00later on
00:14:01don't forget
00:14:01you've got
00:14:02an hour of 40 minutes
00:14:03which means
00:14:03they're holding
00:14:04at least
00:14:05a fuel stop
00:14:06from now
00:14:07to the end
00:14:08of the race
00:14:08because they're
00:14:09doing around
00:14:10a 50 minute
00:14:1045 minute
00:14:11stick
00:14:12but that means
00:14:13that depending
00:14:14on how it cycles
00:14:15that third place
00:14:16might be entirely
00:14:18subject
00:14:18to a second stop
00:14:20or possibly
00:14:21one
00:14:21possibly
00:14:22both
00:14:22in the cars
00:14:23there is
00:14:23Dindo of the fellow
00:14:24in the car
00:14:25he shares with
00:14:26Tom Christensen
00:14:26and Aldo Nation
00:14:27barring an incident
00:14:28in the AWR car
00:14:29perhaps they might
00:14:30have been
00:14:31very likely
00:14:32at the top
00:14:33of the Audi
00:14:34pile
00:14:34because they were
00:14:35at the top
00:14:36of the Audi
00:14:37added to his
00:14:38phenomenal run
00:14:39of the Montlux
00:14:40here
00:14:40Dindo of the
00:14:43Albo
00:14:43pushing very hard
00:14:45indeed
00:14:45now we've
00:14:46shown that
00:14:47his instructions
00:14:48to the team
00:14:49are just
00:14:50to give
00:14:50everything
00:14:51to treat
00:14:51it as
00:14:52a ten
00:14:53lateral
00:14:53it's a qualified
00:14:54run
00:14:55and leave
00:14:56absolutely
00:14:56nothing
00:14:57to take
00:14:58every chance
00:14:58possible
00:14:59to take
00:14:59every risk
00:15:00and just
00:15:01to flail the car
00:15:02until it
00:15:02either
00:15:02wins or gives up
00:15:03and the drivers
00:15:04of this
00:15:05what a simple
00:15:05car
00:15:05which will
00:15:06run
00:15:06for 13
00:15:08LeMontran drive
00:15:09which is
00:15:10over
00:15:10the
00:15:10two
00:15:11and that's
00:15:13before we start
00:15:14getting to see
00:15:14the
00:15:14little bit of the
00:15:15team
00:15:15but all the other
00:15:16wins
00:15:16are a really
00:15:17stunning
00:15:18driver
00:15:19and the gap
00:15:20now has been
00:15:21up from 32
00:15:22to 26
00:15:24seconds
00:15:25on that last
00:15:26lap
00:15:26between 30
00:15:27and 40
00:15:27and 4
00:15:28excuse me
00:15:29326.6
00:15:31and you know
00:15:32you're better
00:15:32at 320.2
00:15:34so 6.47
00:15:35as we've got
00:15:36that lap
00:15:36don't do that
00:15:37and that
00:15:38is starting to
00:15:39share
00:15:39to perhaps
00:15:40what version
00:15:40has really got
00:15:42you know
00:15:42they can do
00:15:4319s and 20s
00:15:44on this car
00:15:44and almost
00:15:45at will
00:15:45in the last
00:15:4650 minutes
00:15:46that gap
00:15:47is exactly
00:15:48a bit hard
00:15:49in the last
00:15:4952 seconds
00:15:5050 minutes
00:15:51ago
00:15:51he's out
00:15:52at 26
00:15:52at that rate
00:15:54he has got
00:15:55time
00:15:55as he
00:15:56has
00:15:56another
00:15:57stay in power
00:15:58we'll find out
00:16:00stay with us
00:16:01live at Levant
00:16:02welcome back
00:16:07live to Levant
00:16:08we're Audi
00:16:08live
00:16:08first
00:16:09second
00:16:09and third
00:16:09this is the
00:16:10third place
00:16:10car
00:16:11of
00:16:11Dindo Capello
00:16:12that he shares
00:16:13with Alan
00:16:13the nation
00:16:14Tom Christensen
00:16:14multiple race
00:16:15winning team
00:16:16in third place
00:16:16being caught
00:16:17fast
00:16:17by the only
00:16:19main version
00:16:20of Levant
00:16:20and there's
00:16:21it's team
00:16:22boss
00:16:22who's showing
00:16:23that he knows
00:16:23they're in a race
00:16:24against time
00:16:25and against
00:16:26this capricious
00:16:27race
00:16:28the bomb
00:16:28is without
00:16:29any doubt
00:16:30and with no
00:16:31disrespect
00:16:31everyone for
00:16:31me and me
00:16:32it is without
00:16:34doubt
00:16:34female
00:16:35because it is
00:16:36so demanding
00:16:37and so difficult
00:16:39and yet
00:16:39so rewarding
00:16:41if you get it
00:16:41right
00:16:42you can
00:16:43what do you think
00:16:43that's a fair
00:16:44assist
00:16:44really good
00:16:45if you've got it
00:16:46right
00:16:46I think so
00:16:48it is
00:16:49so rewarding
00:16:49but it is
00:16:50a really
00:16:51cruel
00:16:51let's just
00:16:52look
00:16:52the gap
00:16:53now
00:16:53down from
00:16:54first to second
00:16:54the high five
00:16:55down to
00:16:5623.000
00:16:58seconds
00:16:58about
00:16:59compelling
00:16:59you've got it
00:17:00and you've got it
00:17:01only taking two
00:17:02seconds out of him
00:17:03this lap
00:17:04now to your
00:17:04very quickly
00:17:05before we get
00:17:05on the race
00:17:06we're talking
00:17:06about MMS
00:17:08at Master Raceway
00:17:09Laguna Seca
00:17:10and of course
00:17:11you've got the
00:17:12Monterey Historic
00:17:13coming up
00:17:13it's been a tough
00:17:14time for circuit
00:17:15almost
00:17:15particularly
00:17:16Master Raceway
00:17:17because you don't
00:17:17know the facility
00:17:18you administer the
00:17:20facility
00:17:20and so you've got
00:17:21to
00:17:21get the money
00:17:22coach from
00:17:23get
00:17:23so you've got to
00:17:24be good
00:17:24at the promotional
00:17:25we'll get back to
00:17:26that in just a moment
00:17:27we're going to have
00:17:27a quick
00:17:28with Nico
00:17:29Laguerre
00:17:29hopefully you'll be
00:17:31able to hear it
00:17:32this time
00:17:32hopefully you will
00:17:34as well
00:17:34we'll be showing
00:17:35that still
00:17:36deep in thought
00:17:38as the Peugeot
00:17:39team
00:17:39try and salvage
00:17:41something from
00:17:42Le Mans
00:17:42Nico there's an hour
00:17:47of 34 minutes
00:17:48left
00:17:49how many bits
00:17:52have you got to
00:17:52make
00:17:52just
00:17:53just
00:17:54and Audi
00:17:58I think
00:17:59will make
00:17:59a pit stop
00:18:00so they'll
00:18:02spend about
00:18:0340 seconds
00:18:04less in the pit
00:18:05than we will
00:18:05so
00:18:09hopefully
00:18:11the last
00:18:11in will go
00:18:12well
00:18:12well
00:18:14okay
00:18:14well that
00:18:15answers
00:18:16that answers
00:18:17the questions
00:18:18that we were
00:18:18asking then
00:18:19one more
00:18:21stop
00:18:21for Audi
00:18:22for your
00:18:23record
00:18:23it is
00:18:23for them
00:18:25so
00:18:26but you
00:18:26must make
00:18:27the pass
00:18:28once
00:18:29stop for fuel
00:18:30and then make
00:18:31it again
00:18:31number 52
00:18:33going slowly
00:18:34at the moment
00:18:35and that is the
00:18:35other driver
00:18:36Aston Martin
00:18:37as you saw
00:18:38there
00:18:38Christopher Nygaard
00:18:39Tomashega
00:18:39and Peter
00:18:40and Peter
00:18:40and Peter
00:18:40and that car
00:18:42was in second
00:18:43place
00:18:44in the GT1
00:18:45class
00:18:45again Jill
00:18:46talking about
00:18:47getting get
00:18:48in of course
00:18:48the AMS races
00:18:50is always big
00:18:51motorcycle racing
00:18:52is always big
00:18:53and I know MotoGP
00:18:54was a great addition
00:18:55to your calendar
00:18:55but Monterey
00:18:56Historics is one of the
00:18:57things that everybody
00:18:58thinks of
00:18:58when you talk about
00:19:00Pebble Beach
00:19:01and Mazda Raceway
00:19:02are all in that same
00:19:03breath
00:19:03and presumably that's
00:19:04another big focus
00:19:05for your season
00:19:07oh it's huge
00:19:07and as you said
00:19:08you listed all of our
00:19:09big events
00:19:10and Monterey
00:19:11Historics this year
00:19:11are being renamed
00:19:12to the Rolex Monterey
00:19:13Motorsports reunion
00:19:14after 36 years
00:19:16and it's taking on
00:19:17a new dawn
00:19:18a new era
00:19:19we have a record
00:19:20number of entries
00:19:21this year
00:19:21638
00:19:22very classic
00:19:24sports car racing
00:19:26vehicles will be
00:19:27on the track
00:19:28and as you said
00:19:29we're a non-profit
00:19:30organisation
00:19:30so these events
00:19:32are very important
00:19:33and getting fans
00:19:34like you have here
00:19:35at the mall
00:19:35to serve
00:19:36circuits like
00:19:37you know
00:19:38Mazda Raceway
00:19:38are going to say
00:19:39I'm very very
00:19:39important
00:19:40the fans
00:19:41that are here
00:19:41you know
00:19:42rather than
00:19:42endurance race
00:19:43in themselves
00:19:44I think
00:19:44so I'll take
00:19:45some of them
00:19:46home with me too
00:19:47alright I think
00:19:47that's a great idea
00:19:48well listen
00:19:49we wish you the
00:19:49very best
00:19:50we're like
00:19:50it's just a
00:19:50delight to see you
00:19:52here
00:19:52so let's hope
00:19:53you get a chance
00:19:54to come back
00:19:54and join us
00:19:55and come on again
00:19:55for many more
00:19:56to come
00:19:57Joe Cam
00:19:57from Mazda Raceway
00:19:58thank you very much
00:19:59to be sure
00:20:00the finalist race
00:20:03I'm sorry
00:20:03I've been quite
00:20:04young
00:20:04that's it
00:20:04on Chris Potty
00:20:05CC
00:20:05is it
00:20:09unraveling in front of our eyes
00:20:11because of the
00:20:12all the feet
00:20:12or the least
00:20:13strong team
00:20:14doesn't seem to be
00:20:15really struggling here
00:20:16and actually the
00:20:17extent of the most
00:20:18experience of the
00:20:19more out
00:20:19well down the record
00:20:21BC has been doing
00:20:22an extremely good job
00:20:24a faster sector
00:20:28time
00:20:28yep
00:20:29see on our screen
00:20:30faster sector
00:20:31third sector
00:20:32ever
00:20:32of the entire race
00:20:33doesn't seem to be
00:20:34able to do it
00:20:35in sector 1
00:20:35and 2
00:20:36but sector 3
00:20:36the Porsche
00:20:37curtain's getting
00:20:37even better
00:20:38now
00:20:38390
00:20:3907
00:20:40and so we are
00:20:42getting into the
00:20:44318s
00:20:45bear in mind
00:20:45he's running low
00:20:46on fuel now
00:20:47so he'll be in those
00:20:48really fast laps
00:20:49now let's get down to the pit lane again
00:20:52see if we can catch up with Pedro Lamy
00:20:54Pedro Lamy
00:20:5890 minutes
00:20:59left in this race
00:21:02I think this is not the place
00:21:04where you wanted to watch it from
00:21:05well of course
00:21:07it's very difficult
00:21:09I mean in my car
00:21:10we stopped too early
00:21:11and then
00:21:12car number 2
00:21:14number 1
00:21:15they had trailers
00:21:17with the engine
00:21:18and they had to stop as well
00:21:20so
00:21:21we should score this year
00:21:23who are very sad
00:21:25the team worked
00:21:26very hard for that
00:21:28it's a very good job
00:21:30the car was very good
00:21:31but
00:21:32it's a racing
00:21:33you know
00:21:33I mean
00:21:34the team now is to
00:21:35start working
00:21:36and it's been starting
00:21:38already for the future
00:21:39but
00:21:39now it's
00:21:41time to think
00:21:42what was wrong
00:21:43and
00:21:43if we can avoid
00:21:44the car was in its fourth year
00:21:47usually
00:21:47reliability
00:21:48shouldn't be a problem
00:21:49in this stage
00:21:50but is it the whole
00:21:52rule change
00:21:53that brought the problems
00:21:53for Brazil?
00:21:55maybe a bit
00:21:56and you know
00:21:57I'm not sure
00:21:58but
00:21:59when you have a car
00:22:01that you
00:22:02you don't push
00:22:04for the limits
00:22:04maybe that break
00:22:06so we had a car
00:22:08that we had to
00:22:09go on the limits
00:22:10in every aspect
00:22:11maybe that's the reason
00:22:13the car become
00:22:14a bit more fragile
00:22:15I don't know
00:22:16where do you go
00:22:17from here
00:22:18for next year?
00:22:19next year
00:22:22what?
00:22:24if I come back here
00:22:25I hope
00:22:25I stay with me
00:22:26sure
00:22:27I don't know
00:22:28thank you
00:22:30well I think we're hearing
00:22:32Pedro Lamy
00:22:33echo the words
00:22:34we were maybe saying
00:22:35earlier
00:22:35that we thought
00:22:36might have been the case
00:22:37pushing those pressure
00:22:38so hard
00:22:39that perhaps
00:22:39they pushed them
00:22:40beyond the levels
00:22:40of reliability
00:22:41just don't really know
00:22:433 minutes
00:22:4419-0 though
00:22:45for Loic Duvalo
00:22:47we saw
00:22:47the team
00:22:48punching the air
00:22:49and clapping
00:22:49when they saw
00:22:50that time come up
00:22:51an incredible time
00:22:52actually smashing
00:22:53the record
00:22:54and the qualifying time
00:22:55and I think
00:22:56we could be seeing
00:22:57a time in 3.18 soon
00:22:58yeah
00:22:59I don't think
00:23:00that's far away
00:23:00that record is
00:23:013.18.5
00:23:03and the race record
00:23:05record lap
00:23:06is 3.19.3
00:23:08so he's inside
00:23:09the all time record
00:23:11for a race
00:23:12and that means
00:23:13the track record
00:23:14will have been
00:23:15Stefan Sarazan's
00:23:16fastest ever
00:23:17pole time
00:23:18it's half a second away
00:23:19at least the way
00:23:20things are going
00:23:21I don't think
00:23:22that's necessarily
00:23:23out of the question
00:23:24Chris you were
00:23:27thinking about
00:23:28various parts
00:23:29the time
00:23:30the time
00:23:31the time
00:23:31the people
00:23:32of course
00:23:33is
00:23:33a pair of
00:23:34Michelin
00:23:35both teams
00:23:36of course
00:23:37Michelin
00:23:37with
00:23:38Veren
00:23:39both looking
00:23:39at potentially
00:23:40being Formula 1
00:23:41suppliers next year
00:23:42as well
00:23:42and one of the
00:23:44things that Michelin
00:23:45were looking at
00:23:45taking into Formula 1
00:23:46was sports car sizes
00:23:48and what wonders
00:23:50whether they might
00:23:51their 400
00:23:52push the 400
00:23:53car sizes
00:23:54yeah that might
00:23:56have to bring
00:23:56sports car type
00:23:57excitement to Formula 1
00:23:58we certainly wouldn't
00:24:00want any of that
00:24:01we'll be back in just a moment
00:24:02for Cynics RRs
00:24:03welcome back live to Le Mans
00:24:07as the Grand Prix
00:24:08driver's Ferrari
00:24:09makes what is likely
00:24:10to be his final stop
00:24:12you would think
00:24:13oh no
00:24:14hour 26
00:24:15Jeremy Shorten
00:24:16sitting there
00:24:17is one as well
00:24:18aren't they
00:24:18I think
00:24:19I think
00:24:20I think
00:24:20I thought they should
00:24:20drive
00:24:21last time
00:24:21I saw
00:24:22Gareth
00:24:23if he came
00:24:24walking back
00:24:24to his
00:24:25garage
00:24:25through the
00:24:27panning
00:24:27about
00:24:2745 minutes
00:24:29to go
00:24:29in France
00:24:30and
00:24:30very impressed
00:24:31that was
00:24:32he was quite happy
00:24:33stopping and signing
00:24:34Simon
00:24:34and I got up
00:24:35to take the pictures
00:24:35for young children
00:24:36and then
00:24:37I would just
00:24:37go out of the car
00:24:38and get up
00:24:39for goodness
00:24:39that's how
00:24:40class acted
00:24:41so
00:24:42the cars
00:24:43still running
00:24:43strongly
00:24:44they were
00:24:44certainly in contention
00:24:45to win this
00:24:46fabulous GT2
00:24:47car
00:24:47they've had to
00:24:48the bottom
00:24:48of the last
00:24:49six hours
00:24:50of the race
00:24:50yes
00:24:51so they
00:24:52currently
00:24:52are in Australia
00:24:54to find one
00:24:55of the screen
00:24:55now
00:24:55with the GT2
00:24:56goodness me
00:24:57yes
00:24:57they're fourth
00:24:58in GT2
00:24:58now
00:24:59do you remember
00:25:00Jeremy
00:25:01yesterday evening
00:25:01we stood
00:25:02chatting to
00:25:03Richard Westbrook
00:25:03in the pad
00:25:04and he was
00:25:04complaining
00:25:05how the
00:25:05race engine
00:25:06they put
00:25:07into that
00:25:07Fino
00:25:07Scuderi
00:25:08Italian
00:25:08portion
00:25:09could
00:25:09pull itself
00:25:10out of its
00:25:10over
00:25:11flat
00:25:12yet
00:25:13because
00:25:14they did
00:25:15which was
00:25:16just sit
00:25:17in the car
00:25:18until it
00:25:18either broke
00:25:19or saw
00:25:19the checkered
00:25:20flag
00:25:20the attrition
00:25:21in GT2
00:25:22has been
00:25:22high enough
00:25:23and they
00:25:24have picked
00:25:24up pace
00:25:24well enough
00:25:25maybe as the
00:25:26engine loosened
00:25:26up
00:25:27that they are
00:25:28now in third
00:25:29place in GT2
00:25:30and I tell you
00:25:30what
00:25:31if you had said
00:25:32I guarantee
00:25:32you'll be on the
00:25:33podium tomorrow
00:25:34to Richard Westbrook
00:25:35he would have
00:25:36laughed in your
00:25:36face yesterday
00:25:37and he was up
00:25:39for the race
00:25:39but he certainly
00:25:40wasn't expecting
00:25:40to be able
00:25:41to do anything
00:25:42in terms of
00:25:43pace
00:25:43but it's not
00:25:44always fast
00:25:45that wins
00:25:45this race
00:25:46this holiday
00:25:46it's not
00:25:47always most
00:25:48reversal
00:25:48that wins
00:25:49this race
00:25:49but it's
00:25:50something in
00:25:51between
00:25:51well we were
00:25:52talking about
00:25:53this just a
00:25:53minute ago
00:25:53between ourselves
00:25:55about how
00:25:55Peugeot has done
00:25:56so much practice
00:25:57around the Paul
00:25:57Ricard circuit
00:25:58but Paul Ricard
00:25:59is not a
00:26:00partial road
00:26:01partial purpose
00:26:02built race track
00:26:03and what we mean
00:26:03by that is
00:26:04you know
00:26:04these cars are
00:26:05having to drive
00:26:06on the actual
00:26:06Mulsan straight
00:26:07which is a
00:26:07public road
00:26:08all the rest
00:26:09of the time
00:26:09even between
00:26:10practice sessions
00:26:11and you don't
00:26:12see it on the
00:26:13TV but it is
00:26:14very bumpy
00:26:14and actually even
00:26:15just crossing
00:26:16over the white
00:26:16dividing line
00:26:17of the circuit
00:26:18bottoms out
00:26:18these cars
00:26:19as a driver
00:26:20you have to
00:26:20come onto the
00:26:21straight and
00:26:21actually pick
00:26:22your crossover
00:26:22point
00:26:23we can see
00:26:24some of the
00:26:24bumps in the
00:26:25other portions
00:26:25the cars
00:26:27as they come
00:26:27into the
00:26:27axis
00:26:28there's a
00:26:28huge bump
00:26:29there
00:26:29I don't think
00:26:30they would have
00:26:30found that
00:26:31anywhere else
00:26:32but you're
00:26:32brilliant
00:26:32I think the
00:26:33only other
00:26:33place that
00:26:34you could do
00:26:35is proper
00:26:35test
00:26:36to really
00:26:36prepare yourself
00:26:37for the
00:26:38Mul would be
00:26:38secret
00:26:39in my opinion
00:26:39well the other
00:26:40thing Jeremy
00:26:41is
00:26:41that's the
00:26:42beginning of
00:26:42the race
00:26:43the apple
00:26:43for fourth
00:26:44place
00:26:44with this
00:26:44orica car
00:26:45and
00:26:46an
00:26:46an
00:26:46an
00:26:47if you were
00:26:48doing a
00:26:4924 hour
00:26:49simulation
00:26:50two of your
00:26:51cars
00:26:51started off
00:26:52at each
00:26:52other like
00:26:52that
00:26:53the first
00:26:54thing that
00:26:54happens
00:26:54is the radio
00:26:55cramping to life
00:26:56and going
00:26:56come on
00:26:56let's not mess
00:26:57around
00:26:58we've got to
00:26:58be serious
00:26:59when you get
00:27:00a simulator
00:27:00you're testing
00:27:01the new
00:27:01inventory
00:27:02but what you're
00:27:03not doing
00:27:04is putting it
00:27:04to the
00:27:04output of the
00:27:05test
00:27:05and there is
00:27:06still no more
00:27:07ultimate
00:27:07attest
00:27:08than the
00:27:08racing at
00:27:09Le Mans
00:27:09what it
00:27:10was designed
00:27:10to do
00:27:1181
00:27:12editions ago
00:27:13back in
00:27:131920
00:27:14nearly a
00:27:15century ago
00:27:16it's still
00:27:17doing
00:27:17testing cars
00:27:19to their
00:27:19absolute
00:27:20ultimate
00:27:20you're absolutely
00:27:21right
00:27:21both of you
00:27:22because
00:27:22Liz was talking
00:27:24there about
00:27:24the benefits
00:27:26of testing
00:27:26at Seabring
00:27:27okay Seabring
00:27:28isn't as fast
00:27:29as Le Mans
00:27:29it is a fast
00:27:30circuit
00:27:31it's not
00:27:31straight
00:27:31but it's still
00:27:32a quick
00:27:33track
00:27:33and it's
00:27:34very very
00:27:34bumpy
00:27:35it is a real
00:27:35test
00:27:36of man
00:27:37and machine
00:27:38there
00:27:38so it is a
00:27:38great warm
00:27:39up
00:27:39those four
00:27:40of Le Mans
00:27:4024 hours
00:27:41we've seen
00:27:41many many
00:27:42teams in the
00:27:43past
00:27:43shaking their
00:27:45cars down
00:27:45just preparing
00:27:46themselves
00:27:47for Le Mans
00:27:47it's kind of
00:27:48ironic isn't it
00:27:48that this year
00:27:49Peugeot
00:27:50they went to
00:27:52Seabring
00:27:53and Audi
00:27:53did not
00:27:54and yet it's
00:27:55worked out
00:27:55because it seems
00:27:55to be the other
00:27:56way around
00:27:56it is simply
00:27:57getting the
00:27:58car for Le Mans
00:27:58in pit road
00:28:00waiting for
00:28:01Peugeot
00:28:02number
00:28:02400
00:28:02by Leut
00:28:03Duval
00:28:03this is the
00:28:04car that
00:28:04Leut
00:28:05is chasing
00:28:05he is
00:28:0611
00:28:07well he
00:28:07was
00:28:0811.4
00:28:09seconds
00:28:09behind
00:28:10at the
00:28:10beginning
00:28:11of the
00:28:11lap
00:28:11I can't
00:28:12accept
00:28:12325
00:28:15to 325
00:28:16which means
00:28:18that he will
00:28:19almost
00:28:19see
00:28:20the Audi
00:28:21in places
00:28:23of this
00:28:23lap
00:28:24just
00:28:24it'll be
00:28:25almost
00:28:26in vision
00:28:27before
00:28:27before he gets
00:28:29out of the
00:28:29corner
00:28:29he just
00:28:30gets a
00:28:30sight of
00:28:31it
00:28:31now
00:28:32suddenly
00:28:32if he was
00:28:33doing
00:28:33320
00:28:34and 319
00:28:35before
00:28:35he's found
00:28:37half a second
00:28:37or a second
00:28:38of that
00:28:39in place
00:28:39just finally
00:28:40able to see
00:28:41Leut Duval
00:28:42is now
00:28:42going to
00:28:43hunt him
00:28:43right down
00:28:43but with
00:28:44you said
00:28:44that
00:28:45chances are
00:28:46he's going
00:28:47to get
00:28:47right behind
00:28:48his last
00:28:49wisps of
00:28:49fuel
00:28:50then have to
00:28:50dive in
00:28:51for the
00:28:51first
00:28:52of what
00:28:52we've been
00:28:53told
00:28:53will have
00:28:54to be
00:28:54two
00:28:54stops
00:28:55before
00:28:55this
00:28:56project
00:28:56so
00:28:57I mean
00:28:58you need
00:28:59a slide rule
00:28:59and a mind
00:29:00like
00:29:00and a trap
00:29:01and who's
00:29:01got it
00:29:02there
00:29:02I mean
00:29:03a slide rule
00:29:03it is
00:29:04there
00:29:04but after
00:29:05all this
00:29:05time
00:29:05who's
00:29:06got the
00:29:07mind
00:29:07that can
00:29:07do
00:29:07that
00:29:08hopefully
00:29:08on
00:29:08big
00:29:09walls
00:29:09everybody
00:29:10still
00:29:10has
00:29:10got
00:29:11a
00:29:11grave
00:29:12like
00:29:12a
00:29:12process
00:29:12because
00:29:13they're
00:29:14going to
00:29:14need
00:29:14to
00:29:14make
00:29:14sure
00:29:15they
00:29:15don't
00:29:15put
00:29:15a
00:29:15kilo
00:29:16extra
00:29:16fuel
00:29:16in
00:29:40and it
00:29:40won't
00:29:41mean
00:29:41anything
00:29:41so
00:29:41it's
00:29:42going
00:29:42to
00:29:42be
00:29:42really
00:29:42exciting
00:29:43to
00:29:43watch
00:29:43the
00:29:43pit
00:29:44stop
00:29:44they're
00:29:44about
00:29:44to pull
00:29:44off
00:29:45they'll
00:29:46probably
00:29:46in the
00:29:46back
00:29:46when you see
00:29:47them in
00:29:47the locker
00:29:49room
00:29:49held
00:29:49up
00:29:49seated
00:29:50up
00:29:50banging
00:29:50heads
00:29:51on
00:29:51the
00:29:51locker
00:29:51room
00:29:52get that
00:29:52adrenaline
00:29:53going
00:29:53oh boy
00:29:54because
00:29:54you know
00:29:55you want to be calm
00:29:56but that adrenaline
00:29:57it's what it does
00:29:58to your brain
00:29:59Jeremy
00:29:59you know
00:30:00Lloyd Duval's driving
00:30:01a car in a way
00:30:02that he couldn't
00:30:02have driven it
00:30:03in qualifying
00:30:03just because the
00:30:05adrenaline
00:30:10he must be
00:30:11pulling the steering
00:30:12wheel towards
00:30:13him with his
00:30:14fingertips
00:30:14come on
00:30:15closer
00:30:15closer
00:30:16come on
00:30:16baby
00:30:17let's do
00:30:17this thing
00:30:18he's really
00:30:18taking full
00:30:19advantage of
00:30:20this low fuel
00:30:20tank right here
00:30:21towards the end
00:30:22of the
00:30:22step
00:30:22I reckon
00:30:22he's probably
00:30:23going to be
00:30:23in this lap
00:30:24around
00:30:25for kind
00:30:26of round
00:30:26four
00:30:26the interesting
00:30:28thing is
00:30:29going to be
00:30:29will he change
00:30:30tyres
00:30:30you're right
00:30:31there's been
00:30:32about 45 minutes
00:30:33between pit stops
00:30:35so they will
00:30:36have to make
00:30:37one more
00:30:37almost full stop
00:30:38before the end
00:30:39of this race
00:30:40right before we
00:30:41get to the pits
00:30:42then let's take
00:30:42a quick commercial
00:30:43break we'll be
00:30:44back live with
00:30:45more action from
00:30:46Le Mans in just
00:30:46a second
00:30:47welcome back
00:30:53live to Le Mans
00:30:54as the number
00:30:55four
00:30:55Berger has made
00:30:57the first of
00:30:58what we believe
00:30:58will have to be
00:30:59two stops
00:31:00and if ever
00:31:02there was a
00:31:02team fired up
00:31:03for a pit stop
00:31:04this half
00:31:04with a chase
00:31:05they've gone
00:31:06on to
00:31:06second something
00:31:07for Berger
00:31:08to be the team
00:31:09get on the podium
00:31:10and you know
00:31:12that those mechanics
00:31:13are exactly
00:31:14as you said
00:31:14they're just doing
00:31:15the best pit stop
00:31:16they've ever done
00:31:17and they actually
00:31:17ever will do
00:31:18in their lives
00:31:19they would have been
00:31:20so happy before
00:31:21they would have been
00:31:22you know
00:31:22what can each other
00:31:23understand
00:31:24right boys
00:31:24this is where
00:31:25we're trying to
00:31:25this is it
00:31:26I think they've just
00:31:28yeah I think they've
00:31:29done it
00:31:29I think they've done
00:31:29a really good start
00:31:30there
00:31:30we're going to see
00:31:32he's going
00:31:32streaming
00:31:32how have done that
00:31:33done it fast
00:31:34the second time
00:31:34absolutely
00:31:35now
00:31:36we're just saying
00:31:36Lottere coming in
00:31:38this is him
00:31:39he's about to bail out
00:31:40this Audi
00:31:41in second place
00:31:42Bernard still leads
00:31:44in Audi number 9
00:31:45Audi number 8
00:31:46in second place
00:31:47Lottere
00:31:48Marcel Fasler
00:31:49and Benoit Trevier
00:31:51they are the trio
00:31:52so we're driving
00:31:56the chairs
00:31:56and he'll get
00:31:57fresh tyres
00:31:58and at an hour
00:31:59and 16
00:32:00they'll have to splash
00:32:01before the end
00:32:03of the race
00:32:04and that's something
00:32:04that crew chief
00:32:05there that knows
00:32:06the car
00:32:06Brad Kettler
00:32:07will be way
00:32:08familiar with
00:32:09of course
00:32:09for many years
00:32:10the crew chief
00:32:10a champion
00:32:11in the American
00:32:12Northern Series
00:32:13before joining
00:32:14this young line-up
00:32:15for the Audi
00:32:17Sport North America
00:32:18team
00:32:19and of course
00:32:19you know
00:32:20for Audi North America
00:32:22for their car
00:32:23potentially to be
00:32:24the car
00:32:25that wins it
00:32:26the number 9 car
00:32:27that's going to be
00:32:28a huge boost
00:32:29for them and as well
00:32:30we might have
00:32:30to pop pop
00:32:31and burn up
00:32:32and we're about to do that
00:32:34so Andre Lodger
00:32:35to get on his way
00:32:36and get on
00:32:39that's going to be
00:32:40he's just there
00:32:40and that was a quick start
00:32:42that was very quick
00:32:43very quick
00:32:43very smooth
00:32:44as you would expect
00:32:45because you know
00:32:46Audi has been doing this
00:32:47for a decade
00:32:48so they're absolutely
00:32:49well rehearsed
00:32:49doing the last
00:32:50number
00:32:50so that's a great
00:32:51those two cars
00:32:52they're going to have to
00:32:53make one of the
00:32:53tools of which
00:32:54to be about
00:32:55in the number two
00:32:57third
00:32:57second
00:32:58wheel
00:32:58the car number
00:32:59seven
00:32:59with which
00:33:00North Carolina
00:33:00is a defensive
00:33:01fan's late
00:33:02for the final
00:33:02two years
00:33:03between
00:33:03C-10-10
00:33:04on the wheel
00:33:05right now
00:33:05he's going to have to make another pitch
00:33:07though
00:33:07and finish your lead
00:33:09in the middle of the side
00:33:10probably about
00:33:11another four laps
00:33:12over
00:33:13the car number seven
00:33:15possibly
00:33:15there it is
00:33:17pushing as hard as a possibility
00:33:19can
00:33:19he knows his final stop
00:33:21in the middle of the road
00:33:21shorter
00:33:22again
00:33:23the
00:33:24one
00:33:24that is been circling
00:33:26in the middle of the road
00:33:27with a very restricted fuel flow
00:33:30on the ring
00:33:30he's gifted by his stop
00:33:32his stop will be shorter than Persho's
00:33:34the last stop of the mass of travel
00:33:35for Persho team
00:33:36and the third engine
00:33:38has gone
00:33:39oh
00:33:39he knows
00:33:40I was going to be back to say
00:33:42looking at Olivier Canale
00:33:43he knows the highs and lows
00:33:45of this race
00:33:46absolutely
00:33:48now
00:33:48spookish
00:33:49and that
00:33:50he is in
00:33:50and he's five bits of tears
00:33:52just as Olivier Canale was
00:33:54and again
00:33:54the only car
00:33:56that Persho had not lost
00:33:57with an engine failure
00:33:58was the Sebastian Bordet car
00:34:01which went out
00:34:02with a suspension element
00:34:03and down to the tub
00:34:05car number three
00:34:06was made
00:34:07for a regular tub
00:34:08the other three
00:34:10have been let down
00:34:11by his new
00:34:13former
00:34:14powerful
00:34:15and were
00:34:16actually trying
00:34:17and tested
00:34:17Persho engine
00:34:19and from
00:34:20the election
00:34:21last year
00:34:22for Persho
00:34:23winning at Le Bon
00:34:24the heartache
00:34:26and heartbreak
00:34:27the other side
00:34:28of the coin
00:34:28absolutely
00:34:30inconsolable
00:34:31I think
00:34:32he was
00:34:33consolable
00:34:33in the canal
00:34:34now
00:34:35it is
00:34:36he did show that himself
00:34:37who feels that
00:34:38a bitter
00:34:39bitter
00:34:39bitter
00:34:39gall
00:34:40because
00:34:40there is just
00:34:41nothing you can do
00:34:43we heard from him earlier
00:34:44he said to Lord Duval
00:34:46leave nothing
00:34:47give it anything
00:34:48take every chance
00:34:50and there but for an hour
00:34:52and 13 minutes
00:34:53all the day
00:34:54made the play
00:34:55that's exactly what happens
00:34:57when you talk about the sprint race
00:34:58and you're putting the 24th hour race
00:35:00I mean you're pushing
00:35:00everything to
00:35:02absolute odds
00:35:03I mean the test
00:35:04the test
00:35:05races
00:35:05they're not pushing
00:35:08this far
00:35:08are they
00:35:09no
00:35:10I mean
00:35:11and they're not going to be pushing
00:35:12in these conditions
00:35:13either
00:35:13I mean you absolutely cannot simulate
00:35:15a race condition
00:35:16you know
00:35:17in these situations
00:35:18and I don't know what you tell the drivers
00:35:19no matter what you try
00:35:20you are not in the race
00:35:21and I don't think
00:35:22you can ever simulate that
00:35:23and Persho has proved that today
00:35:25and I do feel for them
00:35:26it is just
00:35:27just awful
00:35:27it's not the way you want to see this
00:35:29an hour and 13 minutes
00:35:30from the end of the race
00:35:31but we can get a little bit of all
00:35:32I think it's a big car
00:35:34because my word
00:35:35what performance
00:35:36comes away with
00:35:37a new race lap record
00:35:38a new fastest lap
00:35:39which is absolutely remarkable
00:35:41as we see
00:35:42that race ledger
00:35:43onto the pit lane
00:35:44but you know
00:35:44it's been remarkable
00:35:45to me to see
00:35:46that two lapses
00:35:47faster than qualified
00:35:49in the 24 hour race
00:35:50you've got to be the key
00:35:51have we ever seen that before
00:35:54I mean yeah
00:35:54these races
00:35:56have run at a
00:35:57vastest superior pace
00:35:59so there were 5 years ago
00:36:00I mean 30 or 20 years ago
00:36:02there were cruises
00:36:03for most of the race
00:36:04just to make sure
00:36:04we go to the end
00:36:05nothing like that
00:36:07yes in those days
00:36:08I mean you think about
00:36:09the great qualifying laps
00:36:10in those days
00:36:11qualified for something
00:36:12really special
00:36:13low fuel
00:36:14soft tyres
00:36:14the race was all about
00:36:16survival
00:36:16now is
00:36:17in 23 hours
00:36:19we're going faster
00:36:20than we ever did
00:36:21in practice
00:36:21I mean it's almost
00:36:23unbelievable
00:36:23that it's possible
00:36:24to do with a race
00:36:25and we've been lucky here
00:36:26we've had cool conditions
00:36:27so this is extremely
00:36:28possible
00:36:29we've seen
00:36:29such an incredible
00:36:31performance today
00:36:32I mean we have to take
00:36:33that away
00:36:33and give that to Peugeot
00:36:34what we've seen today
00:36:36is a true performance
00:36:38of skill
00:36:38and speed
00:36:39and unfortunately
00:36:40not reliability
00:36:41I think we're going to go
00:36:42to the pace
00:36:43and get an interview
00:36:44to show NAC
00:36:45that last remaining
00:36:47was last remaining
00:36:48number 4 of Peugeot
00:36:50and this is just
00:36:50such a tragedy
00:36:51for them today
00:36:52to go
00:36:54at this point
00:36:55and actually
00:36:55he can beat it
00:36:56he's got class
00:36:57and he's got
00:36:58he's got class
00:36:59and now he's got
00:36:59he's got one
00:37:01and he's got a
00:37:02great job
00:37:02and now he's got
00:37:03to go
00:37:03and we'll see
00:37:03in the end of the end of the end of the end
00:37:04He's such a sportsman as well, you know, one of the most aiming people you can choose to be, so this is going to be really tough for Hoog to gather himself together.
00:37:19Victor Flack, a moment terrible for you.
00:37:23Yeah, terrible because we never thought that Peugeot could possibly retire from the race and for the same reason for three of them.
00:37:41The pressure here, the speed here has been incredible, but the preparation Peugeot put in was just astonishing.
00:37:51Anouk saying an hour from the finish is almost unacceptable that it ends this way.
00:37:58I think Peugeot have done a phenomenal job that worked so hard to come back after last year and to make so many improvements.
00:38:07Four people came here and to have none of the track at the end really is.
00:38:15It's almost impossible to accept.
00:38:20It's such a huge disappointment for us.
00:38:23We were on the podium.
00:38:25Our car at the gap got cut back down.
00:38:29We were chasing Ian to try and get back into the podium just a few seconds away.
00:38:34We did what we had to do.
00:38:35We gave everything.
00:38:36If life was a little fair and maybe we would have invented a monoponium as well.
00:38:41Peugeot should have got something more than this in all their efforts.
00:38:45It is really cruel.
00:38:46Yes, it is really cruel.
00:38:47I think that's actually a fair comment.
00:38:49You know, for all the effort they put in, for all the entertainment they provided alone, Peugeot deserved to take something away from this.
00:38:56Well, it's not a record, but in the end they won't care too much about that.
00:39:00What they wanted was a team on the podium in amongst the Audis, if nothing else.
00:39:05And I think if you'd ask somebody to predict what this race would bring us, I don't think anybody could have done it.
00:39:11You just never would have imagined having all four Peugeots out, three of them out for the same engine failure.
00:39:16This is just absolute disaster and I do truly feel for them.
00:39:20I think it's just horrible because they've worked so hard.
00:39:22What a tragedy today.
00:39:24Yeah, you completely do.
00:39:26Yeah, we were talking about the way to the factory team.
00:39:29We were thinking about the factory team.
00:39:33Yeah, they're back at Audi team.
00:39:35After practice, it was impossible for us, or Audi, almost to even see how they would get onto the podium.
00:39:42I mean, in the first minutes of the race, they were being left behind by all of the Peugeots.
00:39:48And it just looked as though that was never going to change.
00:39:51But the guillotine has fallen, I'm afraid.
00:39:53And the Peugeot are all done here.
00:39:55Audi, one, two, three.
00:39:58Incredible.
00:39:59Welcome back to Le Mans.
00:40:04Well, I think you may be meeting the hankings, actually, at the end of this, because it's almost an emotional thing to get to the end of Le Mans with Halliday, whether it's wiggings or draw, because everybody is so tired.
00:40:19It is in the canal of Peugeot Sport, and Luke has shown a little bit embracing each other.
00:40:24Their dreams have come crumbling down since the night time, where they lost Sebastian Bordet, Peugeot Largely and Simon Paginot's car earlier, another three car with a suspension failure.
00:40:36They have now lost their remaining three cars, all with identical engine failures, all the right-hand bank of cylinders, all very shortly after pit stop, as I recall.
00:40:46So there is a common element, I'm sure they will apply to that.
00:40:50And whatever else happens, whether it's heat sink in the turbo or something else about being red-hot stopping and then being flailed to within an inch of its life again, something is a common factor.
00:41:03I'm sure they'll find it and come back stronger for next time.
00:41:06Well, I think the reality of it is we will probably never know, because they're not going to tell us the impact of what that happened.
00:41:12Certainly, this is such an emotional experience going through the 24 hours of Le Mans with the team, for the drivers and the team, especially this close to the end, being at the front.
00:41:23So we're just seeing the incredible emotion coming through these teams.
00:41:27Just such a hardship to accept the fact that three cars could fail the exact same way, and they never could have imagined this would happen to them.
00:41:34And I truly feel for them. You know, I know what it's like to drive here and to be a part of it, and it's just so awful for them.
00:41:40Well, that goes wrong.
00:41:41You can see the explosion, the outlet of emotion there, Jeremy Shaw, when it finally is released there.
00:41:46I've got to show you now, I can only have to leave here, you can help.
00:41:49Now, imagine the emotion, you see, in the number nine out of the E.M. football,
00:41:54the team of Bernhardt and Roma do that, hoping against them, praying, against praying, an hour and four minutes and 36 seconds until time is up and they get to the flag.
00:42:07And the pent-up emotions there, I mean, they're just going to be like an absolute pressure cooker waiting to go on.
00:42:16But it's just going to be a remarkable achievement if they've managed to win this race.
00:42:20This is the star of the E.M. football game.
00:42:27And it's still on the podium, at Le Mans, the wonderful Ben Affair doctor GT price victory here.
00:42:34Roman Jumat is being our only captain, but it's just going to be a great team for the 7th.
00:42:41But, to make that a step from just the top seven, the pair with a huge step.
00:42:48And a trio and first time with this R-Race.
00:42:51It's just a place car, Dino Capello on the lane.
00:42:53Danny Warnsdale, the LMP2 leader in the Stratka, racing Acura HPD, taking it very easily.
00:43:01Because, of course, the High Croft Car was their rival for so long, and it has succumbed pretty much to everything.
00:43:07And Stratka are going to try and get the car out at the end of the race, but they really can't run it for more than two or three laps.
00:43:16Marino-Francici was saying earlier.
00:43:18Now, let's get back down to the pit and catch up with more news.
00:43:27Cobalt, Moe, and Olivier.
00:43:31Yeah, absolutely, for the whole team, really, of course, for the drivers, for the drivers, for the mechanics, designers, and everything.
00:43:35We've done our best. We knew we had a car that couldn't win this race.
00:43:39We've done everything we could.
00:43:42And this is really cool.
00:43:44It's a really tough race when it goes badly for you.
00:43:48But Perjot have done a fantastic job.
00:43:50We couldn't have asked them for anything else.
00:43:53You know, the magic of them all is when it happens for you, but now we're all very disappointed.
00:43:58We're going to try and come back and move on to not quite revenge, but, yeah, come back.
00:44:05Let's say we'll see.
00:44:08So, next week, yesterday, we're going to try and come back next week.
00:44:10We'll talk to you in the good morning.
00:44:13We'll have to come back when it comes back.
00:44:13But we week the game for a year is a very long time, when you replace the disappointment.
00:44:19So, in the world, we're going to have to talk about it.
00:44:21Well, there might be a little bit on the first lap, but, possibly, the tens of thousands of
00:44:25alarms, you know?
00:44:26This is hard working with all that preparation that goes into it.
00:44:29It's hard to decide which is actually worse and or better, to be honest.
00:44:33I mean, they're horrible for different reasons.
00:44:36But interestingly, we've seen the minute that failure happened in the Peugeot car,
00:44:40the Audis backed their time standard just a little bit.
00:44:43I think they all took a huge sigh of relief and went,
00:44:45now we can look after these cars and bring them home.
00:44:47Because the next car who was down to benefit from any failure in Audi
00:44:51would be that Lola Aston Martin, currently driven by Sam Hancock,
00:44:55who's done a fantastic job with this car.
00:44:57They're currently lying in fourth place in LMP1,
00:44:59which is brilliant for the petrol cars to have pushed through so many diesels.
00:45:03We never thought this was the case.
00:45:05We thought it'd be a battle for a place.
00:45:06But they've definitely rained it up there.
00:45:09And they're far enough away from the Audis that there isn't a panic in the Audi camp.
00:45:13And I think they're just, the plan now is going to be look after the cars
00:45:17because we've lost so many Lola Aston Martin cars in this race.
00:45:20Now, race leader Timo Bernhardt has now completed 380 laps.
00:45:24And, you know, so what.
00:45:26But Jeremy actually says that it is quite a lot.
00:45:30And the fact that he is now two laps away from the all-time distance record
00:45:35set by Peugeot two years ago in 2009,
00:45:39last year, right, in 2009,
00:45:42is quite remarkable because we've still got an hour racing to go.
00:45:47And they're not going to just creep round.
00:45:52They're going to bust it wide open.
00:45:53They are indeed by a good advantage of probably by 12, 13, 14 laps,
00:45:57which is absolutely amazing.
00:45:59Last year, there was some fairly inclement weather particularly on Sunday morning.
00:46:03So that slowed down the pace somewhat.
00:46:06And we had, what, three pace car cars looked at me yesterday,
00:46:09afternoon and evening.
00:46:11And a couple of people certainly wouldn't see this as well.
00:46:13And one of the ninth passengers, that's part of four degrees.
00:46:16So, absolutely.
00:46:17A couple of passengers were short either.
00:46:18So, I mean, just, again, just, we haven't had it in hand.
00:46:23The pace of these guys have the game.
00:46:25And the first we sort of think it was,
00:46:29we know that people were pushing hard yesterday.
00:46:31I mean, well, they were.
00:46:32And then sort of, we sort of,
00:46:34decrypting sponsoring whatever.
00:46:36So, blablablablabla.
00:46:38Well, I think they were.
00:46:40The last times, when he was talking,
00:46:42we were looking at that version 2nd, 24th or so.
00:46:45But they'll be done in the 22, 21s,
00:46:47before that, and it was a shame that the race car
00:46:51won't be made, but the safe car
00:46:53won't be able to clearly show how close the
00:46:57Audi's could have got to the pleasure, because
00:47:00they were able to save the safe car
00:47:02between them, so they were immediately
00:47:03split, but a good one was won't.
00:47:06Well, I think they were definitely pushing
00:47:07cars straight away, but maybe not hanging
00:47:09an Audi's, the way they get in the car,
00:47:12which is one of those cars dead at the
00:47:13stage in this race, they got the car to
00:47:15absolutely ragged, and I think when they
00:47:18did that, we started to see the times we did,
00:47:19and that is what saw the end of the race.
00:47:34This is how Reinhard Juerst learned to go
00:47:37racing, in the old days of enduring the race,
00:47:41and particularly in the Group Sierra, of
00:47:43course, in which he was a bit of a master as
00:47:45well, you know, you set your race pace, and you
00:47:48stick to it, that's plan A. Plan B, see plan A.
00:47:51There is no variation, you've got to be there at
00:47:54hour 23, then you look at what's what, and see what
00:47:57you've got left to play with. If it rains and you save
00:48:00some fuel, okay, up with the boost, here we go, let's go for it.
00:48:03If not, we are where we are.
00:48:05Interestingly, Audi at the top of the field, some very interesting
00:48:08stories down to classes, of course.
00:48:10Stracca Racing coming here against, well, they're the
00:48:14Le Mans series frontrunners in the LMP2 class, against the
00:48:18America Le Mans series frontrunners in the LMP2 class.
00:48:21Heidcroft racing, Heidcroft the course of the first time here at the Mall, but
00:48:25the, I mean, a massive battle between those two. Heidcroft ended up with
00:48:29problems, perversely, with the HPV pass the package with the engine
00:48:33is overheating, and they've been sort of blunted a little bit.
00:48:35And Stracca, you know, with two front drivers and the
00:48:39Le Mans is going by him saying, you know, a gentleman driver, you know,
00:48:43to end up winning their class against a very serious opposition
00:48:47in their LMP2 class, will be a great reward if they can hang on to it
00:48:50for another hour. In the GT1 class, the Celine now looking as though
00:48:55it's going to claim, in its last time at Le Mans, its first ever win,
00:48:59which is quite remarkable, and from all the contenders in GT2,
00:49:03the GT2, Punisher, of course, coming out on top.
00:49:07You're going to have to boot the implementers, you're four laps ahead
00:49:09leading the LMP2 category, now you're carrying the car.
00:49:13Ah, well, there's still an hour to go, sir, and we reckon about five laps also,
00:49:18so, it's also to play for, but it's a pretty good sofa.
00:49:22So, what do you do during this last hour? Are all the engineers
00:49:26are just listening, more carefully, and monitoring more carefully all the data?
00:49:31Absolutely, we're monitoring everything really closely,
00:49:33not taking any risks on track, avoiding any incidents,
00:49:36and hopefully we'll be able to bring the car home safely
00:49:38out in an hour and a half.
00:49:40Is it any concern what happened to the car and the garage next to you?
00:49:44Do we have a car in the Corp?
00:49:46Ah, a little bit, you know, I really want the other cars to finish,
00:49:49it would be great to bring you to both HPE back,
00:49:51but I think they may well get out and be able to finish the race,
00:49:55in which case it's then to get back from all of us.
00:49:57Thank you very much.
00:50:01Well, Nick never looks like a man who's having a really tough time,
00:50:04but right at the moment he looks like a man who all his dreams are starting to come together.
00:50:11I'm quite sure what the best attention is here.
00:50:17We're going to take a quick commercial break and be right back with you after this.
00:50:22Stay with us for the end of the one live on Eurosport.
00:50:26And the heartbreak continues.
00:50:31Fourth place, Lola Aston Martin, the best of the golf cards.
00:50:35Sam Hancock at the wheel, and it is rolling to a halt out on the circuit.
00:50:41This is a run down towards Indianapolis.
00:50:43The right hand bank of cylinders has had enough and is pouring smoke through,
00:50:49and unfortunately I don't think Sam is going to be in any condition to get him back to the pit lane.
00:50:55Even if he did, I'm not sure there's very much they can do.
00:50:59And Liz, that's really heartbreaking, isn't it?
00:51:02You know, they are now 53 minutes away from a really great result,
00:51:07and unfortunately it is just trickling away from them.
00:51:11And here's the moment we saw those little puffs of smoke on the straight.
00:51:15And that, I'm afraid, is all you need to know.
00:51:18Once the engine starts burning the oil, she's done.
00:51:22I'm actually feeling a little bit close to tears at the moment, I have to be honest,
00:51:25because, you know, poor Sam was in the car with me in 2005 when we were leading LNP2,
00:51:30and we fell years ago.
00:51:32He's not finished this race for a while, and this has been, he's done such a wonderful job in this car.
00:51:37Three drivers half, and I'm just so honored of him to finish,
00:51:40and I'm feeling really sad for him right now.
00:51:42Why, you're not the only one.
00:51:43It's always very emotional at the end of this race, because there are so many good stories,
00:51:47but it's the hard luck stories that really grab your heartstrings.
00:51:51It's a fifth start here at Le Mans for Sam, and he hasn't yet finished the race.
00:51:57It's a fifth start here at Le Mans for Sam.
00:52:00It's not going to go wrong.
00:52:01You guys have done a fantastic job.
00:52:03You know, I think it's beautiful.
00:52:05What they know, if you just lift it around, get back to this,
00:52:10and somehow get around to do that vital lap, that's what you want to do.
00:52:14Lose a gear or something, you know, like how you want to send a Jag,
00:52:18and young lovers driving it home, you can just need a gear for a pit stop,
00:52:22and you know, an hour and a half.
00:52:24That's all, you know, that's all something.
00:52:26But when the engine goes, there is nothing else left, you know.
00:52:30The car that's now going to take its place,
00:52:32Didier-Andre here in Ucassana's Orica AIM,
00:52:36this car has been having nightmares,
00:52:38and so every time it stops in the pits,
00:52:40they have to take a rear bodyguard.
00:52:42English car drivers will be very familiar with this,
00:52:45get a long rod, and drop it down the side of the engine,
00:52:48and bang the start of the engine until the solenoid engages
00:52:51to get it going again, you know.
00:52:53Whatever rugby or dog of the car you have when you're a kid,
00:52:55I'm sure you must have done that at some stage.
00:52:57That's how they're getting their car to the end,
00:53:00and for the people who've shown that,
00:53:02incredibly, Peugeot might have gone,
00:53:04but his other car may be up in four position,
00:53:08as the best of the petrol cars.
00:53:10In fact, it will end up in four position,
00:53:12unless something dramatic happens to it.
00:53:14But for Darren Turner taking off his Balaclava,
00:53:18and particularly his, you know,
00:53:20for the whole of the goal pass from the team,
00:53:23they're really, really disappointed.
00:53:25There's no other sport.
00:53:27Crushing.
00:53:28And ironically, those guys in the Pacifica,
00:53:32and the American, of course, from the UK,
00:53:37they've had all sorts of problems in this race,
00:53:40but they have kept it going.
00:53:41And with the pace they're going,
00:53:43they're probably just about the complete,
00:53:45the same sort of distance that the 009 car has already done.
00:53:49But with the global regulations,
00:53:51if you're not going to finish, you're not even classified,
00:53:54which I've always thought,
00:53:55which I've always thought,
00:53:56is absolutely a ridiculous regulation.
00:53:57Wow.
00:53:58You're not a finisher.
00:53:59It's a list of classified finisher, isn't it?
00:54:02No, I can agree that it doesn't give you,
00:54:05it doesn't give you due respect,
00:54:08if you put in, but then,
00:54:10and what often doesn't.
00:54:12So, I just don't think you want a fire moment off air there.
00:54:17I think we always have a fire moment as well.
00:54:21It indicates it to me,
00:54:22there's our GT2,
00:54:24my blue,
00:54:25it's a Porsche,
00:54:26it's a 77,
00:54:28it's a prototype Porsche.
00:54:30And I have to say,
00:54:31you know,
00:54:32of all the times to be in the one lane,
00:54:34I always used to hate this time,
00:54:36going up to people and having to
00:54:38interview them all,
00:54:40intrude on their disappointments,
00:54:43and their heartbreak.
00:54:44It's actually a short straw today,
00:54:46and he's down with Darren Turner.
00:54:50Darren Turner,
00:54:51we just saw your car stopping at the side of the drag,
00:54:53do you already know what happened exactly?
00:54:55No,
00:54:56I haven't spoken to the team yet,
00:54:58obviously,
00:54:59I'm in the garage,
00:55:00but I need to go and speak to the engineers behind there,
00:55:02to see what's happening.
00:55:03It looks from what we can see on the telly
00:55:05that it's an engine drama.
00:55:07It's just,
00:55:08it's all possible,
00:55:09we've done three hours,
00:55:10and now we get so far,
00:55:12and this is looking good for a,
00:55:14you know,
00:55:15top four finish for the car,
00:55:16and, you know,
00:55:17considering what the preparation has been for this year,
00:55:20for the mine,
00:55:21it's been very low key,
00:55:22it was a very good time,
00:55:24but obviously that's just how it's gone,
00:55:25and, you know,
00:55:26we have to come back and try next year.
00:55:28When you put it in perspective,
00:55:29with all the trouble the other guy had as well,
00:55:31it was a very tough weekend for the,
00:55:33the,
00:55:34the,
00:55:35the,
00:55:36the,
00:55:37the,
00:55:38and we've been running absolutely clean the whole way through the race,
00:55:40no dramas,
00:55:41except for,
00:55:42you know,
00:55:43we've had to be careful,
00:55:44we've had to just take the engine back a little bit,
00:55:46but that started very early in the race,
00:55:48well,
00:55:49I'm not sure that would be,
00:55:50you know,
00:55:51what it counts is for,
00:55:52what it happened is now on the surface,
00:55:53but,
00:55:54you know,
00:55:55we,
00:55:56we ran very reliable here last year,
00:55:57and nothing to change,
00:55:58it's just one of those things afterwards,
00:56:00man.
00:56:01What do you think about,
00:56:02do you think you look already about next year,
00:56:04with the two of them,
00:56:05at the end,
00:56:06at the end,
00:56:07at the end,
00:56:08at the end,
00:56:09at the end,
00:56:10at the end,
00:56:11at the end,
00:56:12right now,
00:56:13I'm just feeling a bit,
00:56:14down and deflated,
00:56:15you know,
00:56:16the rest of the guys have worked so hard there,
00:56:17as we're all doing a job on the circuit,
00:56:19you know,
00:56:20it needs to go away,
00:56:21and have a,
00:56:22a day or two,
00:56:23just to get,
00:56:24a result of that taken away,
00:56:25but,
00:56:26I'm sure we're coming back next year,
00:56:27and,
00:56:28hopefully that,
00:56:29the regulations will be a bit closer,
00:56:30and we can find the,
00:56:31the teams will come.
00:56:32Thank you very much.
00:56:33Cheers, thanks.
00:56:36You know Liz,
00:56:37I often wonder,
00:56:38what makes you more of a team,
00:56:40or feel more of a team,
00:56:41when you've won something,
00:56:42and,
00:56:43you know,
00:56:44thinking of the striker team,
00:56:45or like that with Aston Martin,
00:56:46when you're all,
00:56:47in the depths,
00:56:48whether,
00:56:49you know,
00:56:50the,
00:56:51whether the team's spirit is,
00:56:52is even stronger than,
00:56:53than it would be,
00:56:54if they'd managed to get out in the fourth place,
00:56:55I'm,
00:56:56I'm not really sure,
00:56:57but,
00:56:58you know,
00:56:59there's no question,
00:57:00every single one of them,
00:57:01it's really exactly the same.
00:57:02Well,
00:57:03I think the team's been through so much,
00:57:04they've been through almost 24 hours,
00:57:06I can't think of anything more,
00:57:07to be completely honest with you,
00:57:08than,
00:57:09than having everything go so smoothly,
00:57:10and having it on,
00:57:12false pieces this close to the end,
00:57:14we're just after the inconsolable,
00:57:15but,
00:57:16we're just gonna go to a quick break,
00:57:17we will be back with you,
00:57:19right after these messages.
00:57:23Well,
00:57:24welcome back live to the one,
00:57:25lucky here,
00:57:26and the car that lies in,
00:57:27third place in,
00:57:28the LMP2 category,
00:57:30Ray Malik bringing his,
00:57:32low coupe back again,
00:57:34this year,
00:57:35but,
00:57:36with a change of engine,
00:57:37from the AER turbo motor,
00:57:38to the HPD,
00:57:39on the performance development engine,
00:57:41and that seems to have really transformed,
00:57:43well,
00:57:44what do you come,
00:57:45this is so,
00:57:46you have pictures,
00:57:47lots of little needles,
00:57:48and the times you get rabid,
00:57:50and the little,
00:57:51so,
00:57:52well,
00:57:53certainly,
00:57:54I know my co-driver,
00:57:55hit a groundhog once,
00:57:56did a lot of damage,
00:57:57it was very expensive,
00:57:58it was a big sturdy groundhog,
00:57:59didn't you happen to hit it every lap?
00:58:01No,
00:58:02I think he pretty much obliterated every lap,
00:58:04I see,
00:58:05I don't recommend it,
00:58:06not nice.
00:58:07No,
00:58:08so the IML team,
00:58:09on for another podium,
00:58:10has been very successful,
00:58:12in the LMP2,
00:58:13the LMP2,
00:58:14the LMP2,
00:58:15second,
00:58:16the junction,
00:58:17the junction,
00:58:18the junction,
00:58:19the junction,
00:58:20and again,
00:58:21change of engine,
00:58:22lots more away from the master engine,
00:58:23for that team,
00:58:24has,
00:58:25changed their fortunes around,
00:58:26very quick,
00:58:27those three young guys,
00:58:28had a couple of problems,
00:58:29but all of them had,
00:58:30I mean,
00:58:31consistently,
00:58:32and,
00:58:33and,
00:58:34the class leader,
00:58:35is still,
00:58:36and,
00:58:37driving it,
00:58:39the other two,
00:58:4072,
00:58:4172,
00:58:42second place,
00:58:43to try to,
00:58:44the,
00:58:45the,
00:58:46the procladdy team as well,
00:58:47they have been coming here,
00:58:48for a number of years,
00:58:49the procladdy team,
00:58:50and they seem to have run into,
00:58:51all sorts of problems,
00:58:52over the years,
00:58:53over the years,
00:58:54and they have gradually,
00:58:56well,
00:58:57I suppose,
00:58:58everybody does work hard,
00:58:59to eliminate the problems,
00:59:00work hard,
00:59:01to eliminate the human error,
00:59:02work hard with the car,
00:59:03to get it stronger,
00:59:04and stronger,
00:59:05and this is,
00:59:06this is properly,
00:59:07a sort of privateer entry,
00:59:09isn't it,
00:59:10Karim AJ,
00:59:11Tim Bruce,
00:59:12and Gary Challendon,
00:59:13in a,
00:59:14in a,
00:59:15in a,
00:59:16in a team,
00:59:17they're,
00:59:18Janetta Zytek,
00:59:19and,
00:59:20we know,
00:59:21Lawrence Thompson,
00:59:22a couple of times,
00:59:23during the race,
00:59:24that he's,
00:59:25you know,
00:59:26come over here,
00:59:27looking at three,
00:59:28a good black car,
00:59:29has been very much,
00:59:30under the red car,
00:59:31and has stayed that way,
00:59:32and that's,
00:59:33in some ways,
00:59:34this is,
00:59:35you finished,
00:59:36yeah?
00:59:37Oh right,
00:59:38what happened to you?
00:59:39I don't think we ever saw you.
00:59:40No!
00:59:41Thank the Lord!
00:59:42We've seen them a few times,
00:59:43but generally,
00:59:44there's fast bit of warm up,
00:59:45they've repaired the car,
00:59:46after that,
00:59:47they've never reached to them,
00:59:48last night,
00:59:49at sunset,
00:59:50they've solved it now,
00:59:51they've never got it up,
00:59:52they've,
00:59:53they've,
00:59:54turned it in,
00:59:55I think,
00:59:56they've turned it over,
00:59:57sort of,
00:59:58consistent pace,
00:59:59whatever that capital is,
01:00:00and they're gonna end up,
01:00:01aren't they,
01:00:02with a top 10 finish,
01:00:03overall at the bar,
01:00:04thank you!
01:00:05And do you know who else?
