00:00I understand that for this role you perform stand-up in front of live
00:03audiences what was that like doing it and did you learn anything that surprised
00:08you? Super scary doing stand-up in front of real audiences here in New York at
00:14the Comedy Cellar. Super scary but also and and I learned how how difficult it
00:21is and what a sort of high-wire act it is.
00:26This is a really dramatic role for you and what led you to want to take on a
00:31more serious you know leading role? Well I mean I think that we I was just so
00:36enamored with this story so it wasn't so much that I didn't approach it like oh
00:41I got something I got to prove or I want to do a drama now to show people it was
00:45nothing like that I just I just really liked the story and really wanted wanted
00:48to be a part of it and be part of telling it.
00:53You and Bradley worked really closely on this film what makes him such a unique
00:59director? Bradley has so much capacity for so many things it's amazing and I've
01:04known him a long time we've been good friends for a long time through this
01:07process through writing and through prep through shooting through editing I've
01:13just been able to really see that there is it seems like no limit to what he can
01:18do and I know it seems like well you're his buddy you would say that but it's
01:20really true he's an incredible artist and I don't even know if I fully
01:24appreciated it until we went through this.
01:26And then Laura is your co-star in this film how did you guys go about
01:32developing your on-screen dynamic?
01:34Well I had the benefit of knowing Laura a little bit before which is great and so
01:38we'd we got to know each other and I think that we have a lot of ways some
01:42shared sensibilities which is great and you know and then we we spent a long
01:47time talking about this film before we started shooting and really getting
01:51ourselves in a place of understanding who these people are and where they're at
01:54in their relationship and and you know sort of focusing in on that and yeah.
01:59And lastly how did filming in real New York City locations help influence your
02:06performance?
02:07Well New York is so inspiring and you know you hear the term like oh New York's a
02:12character in the film it is true I mean as much as you get tired of saying it or
02:16hearing it it is true and it's so alive and so when you're shooting in New York
02:20out on the street it's just incredible or even you know in the comedy cellar like
02:24in a real in that real environment just unbelievably inspiring.
