00:00Greg Breslow and something he said with regard to the team's need for a number two starter.
00:06I think this is one of the biggest needs on the team. They've got to put someone behind
00:11Garrett Crochet that allows Crochet some margin for error and at the same time allows
00:19Brian Baio and whoever's behind him, Peyton Toley, Connolly Early, whoever ends up behind
00:26Baio the wiggle room to develop at his own pace. I think we saw at the end of the year
00:31Baio still lacks some of the qualities of a true number two starter. So again the question to
00:37Breslow here is will a number two starter be at or near the top of your list? Best rotation we
00:45possibly can and at times through the year you could say Baio pitched like a number two because
00:50he did or Lucas pitched like a number two because he did or Connolly Early pitched like a number two
00:54because he did. But I'll go back to you know the question about do you rely on the pitching that
00:58you have in-house or do you seek to to try and improve it? I think the answer is you always look
01:03to improve and and get as much pitching depth as you possibly can. Okay overall right answer. It's
01:10the right answer but I will also say that what I don't like at the end is you try to improve your
01:15pitching depth. I don't think the Red Sox necessarily have to improve their depth. I mean certainly they
01:20always is a goal and I'm talking about people like Hunter Dobbins, Richard Fitz, Early because I don't
01:29think Early is a front end kind of guy but he's a serviceable it feels like a serviceable big league
01:34pitcher and I say the same for Toley. I think his ceiling's a little higher but the Red Sox have
01:39lots of options or lots of guys who came in this year and pitched. Certainly they need to improve that.
01:45What they need to improve is their high-end pitching. Look at the Yankees. Look at the Blue Jays.
01:50They both have better rotations and it should be pointed out that both of those teams had young
01:56starters make big big contributions in the postseason.
