00:00It's frustrating. I'm sure a lot of fans are frustrated. And it's frustrating because, again, I don't know how many off seasons this is. Maybe Maz knows. But I feel like this is the fourth or fifth offseason in a row where the messaging just doesn't match the action.
00:13I mean, Breslow sat up there at that end of season press conference and was very honest about the fact they didn't feel like they could just run it back and be back in the playoffs. And he mentioned he used the term, you know, window of contention. And it just doesn't really feel any different.
00:29Yeah. I mean, there's still more offseason to go. But if you were averse to, you know, Pete Alonso at five years and where he landed and you're maybe averse to some other, Schwarber probably wasn't really an option for them at the end of the day.
00:45But if you're averse to that type of guy and that type of player on that type of contract, then are you really in a window of contention or are you just trying to make sure that your team is constructed and as in as cost efficient a manner as possible?
01:00And are you believing? And this is what I think they really believe. And it's not all that dissimilar to a lot of years with the Belichick Patriots.
01:09I can get 80 percent of the production out of this guy for 50 percent of the cost. Right.
01:14And that's what they now look. Belichick had the advantage of Tom Brady. Maybe the Red Sox look at and say we have the advantage of an ace and Garrett Crochet.
01:22And we think Roman Anthony is going to be one of those transcendent players. So we'll just build around them and through the farm system.
01:29But if you're really in a win now stance, I don't understand how you can't be more aggressive.
01:34Then there's also sort of just the contradiction and inconsistency of labeling someone like Alonso too old.
01:41But then you're out there allegedly in connection with guys like Jorge Polanco and Quetel Marte and obviously bringing Bregman back.
01:49And all those guys are in the same age group. They're on the same age plane.
