00:00This is a Fox News alert. President Trump announcing an historic peace deal. It has been reached in the Middle East and it promises to end the two-year war between Israel and Hamas and bring every remaining hostage, dead or alive, back home.
00:17So much is happening to get the hostages freed, and we think they'll all be coming back on Monday. So it looks like that's the thing, and that'll include the bodies of the dead.
00:32And, you know, the parents that we're – I talk to so many of them, but the parents are more – almost more intent, but equally intent is getting their – in just about all cases, the son, their son's body back than they are as though the young man was alive.
00:52It's just the same intensity. They want their baby's body back. That's what one woman said.
00:58They want my baby's body back, and, you know, the son is 25, 26 years old. So that's a very big part of it.
01:07So we got to witness the deal get pushed over the finish line in real time as the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, interrupted a White House meeting to slide the president this urgent note.
01:20They're smart, but they're not smart enough. They – oh, my microphone's broken.
01:25The department's – departments to find the criminal conspiracy.
01:29Okay.
01:31I'm just giving –
01:32Yeah, I was just giving a note by the Secretary of State saying that we're very close to a deal in the Middle East, and they're going to need me pretty quickly.
01:43Please. Most transparent presidency you're ever going to see. Wow. Emotional scenes breaking out
01:48in Israel, understandably, last night as friends and family of the hostages heard the news. They're
01:53coming together to celebrate as we now wait to see if Hamas ends its reign of terror and holds
01:58up their end of the bargain. And that's going to be key, guys. They got to get the 52 in place,
02:03the 20 plus that we hope are alive, and then bring them from different desperate parts of
02:10Gaza, bring them together and get them out. Now, in turn, there's going to be a lot of
02:15prisoners that are going to be getting out. And I guess they got to get settled on the numbers now
02:19and who's on the roster of prisoners to be at least 200 plus are on life sentences.
02:26So part of the difficulty here with this deal, Brian and Angela, is that when they did October
02:33the 7th, they put the prisoners all over, send them to other proxies around the world. And
02:39now they have to locate all of them. Some of them, they could get back pretty much immediately,
02:44but the other ones are going to have to track down, including the dead bodies. But what an
02:49accomplishment, not just for this president, but for the country, for Israel and for the world.
02:55This is phase one. So all the hostages will be brought home on Monday. We're being told Israel
03:02will withdraw its troops from Gaza. And all parties, President Trump says, will be treated
03:09fairly. Those images are very touching of seeing these loved ones, their family members praising
03:15Donald Trump, dancing in circles, flying the Israeli flag, and look, flying the American flag
03:21there in Tel Aviv as well. This is being felt around the world. We're getting reaction from Democratic
03:27lawmakers here in the United States, as well as obviously Republicans praising Donald Trump,
03:32prime minister of the UK. We're hearing from Benjamin Netanyahu, thanking Donald Trump
03:38and inviting him to address the Israeli parliament on Sunday.
03:42Here's a reaction from the hostage families.
03:45President Trump, you have the best crowd in the world. What do you guys have to say to President Trump?
03:51Thank you very much, everybody.
03:55You did it.
03:56You did it, Indiana.
04:00This is amazing.
04:01Kind of went over the process when it comes to going through all the diplomatic, you know,
04:06hurdles, and they went straight to the president of the United States because they knew he was
04:10the only one that could get this done.
04:12I think that's a great point because the families were really great advocates for their loved
04:16ones and their family members and friends.
04:18But they have to also be cognizant of the fact that if they just said, give me all the hostage
04:23back as everyone would want, they'd say, well, there's going to be another 2,000 killed because
04:28Hamas made it clear this is just the beginning.
04:30We're going to keep giving you more October 7th.
04:32That's what the prime minister has in his head.
04:34I have to eliminate this consistent sense of doom that Hamas with daily rockets into all
04:41different areas arbitrarily into Israel has to stop.
04:44And we know what's happened when they took out Iran's nuclear program and they severely
04:49almost destroyed Hezbollah.
04:51We hope they're finished off soon.
04:53But a couple of things that are going on.
04:55How is it that the Palestinian Authority, the Egyptian president, the prime minister of Israel,
05:03the hostage families, Hamas calling on Donald Trump to confirm this deal and make Israel
05:09follow through?
05:10They all have one thing in common.
05:12They all have different interests, but they all were leaning on President Trump to bring
05:16this plane in.
05:17And I'm not exaggerating.
05:19How did he do it?
05:20This is what's going to be written about.
05:22How did he remain the most popular politician in Israel while being the most accessible in
05:28the Arab world and possibly the most respected at the most divisive time?
05:33There are two Americans that are believed to be dead, that are hostages, that their bodies
05:39will be brought back home.
05:41There's Ite Chen, 19-year-old dual U.S. and Israeli citizen, was serving the IDF when he
05:47was killed.
05:48Born in the U.S. and raised in Israel.
05:49And former Boy Scout, loved basketball and video games.
05:52But his parents are demanding for the return of their son's body for a proper burial.
05:56There's also Omer Nutra.
05:59He's a 21-year-old dual U.S.-Israeli citizen, a native of Plainview, New York, deferred college
06:05to go and serve in the IDF, and was a tank platoon commander and the grandson of Holocaust
06:10survivors.
06:11To your point, the president used multiple tools with this deal.
06:17He used the economic prosperity.
06:20OK, do you want to open up your country to businesses there?
06:23Do you want a better future?
06:25This is something that he tried to get Kim Jong-un to understand, is that he tried to paint
06:30this picture of prosperity.
06:32But he also used force.
06:33The destruction of the nuclear sites of Iran definitely put pressure, and he also used
06:40tariffs as well.
06:41Look at these pictures, Lawrence and Brian.
06:43I mean, they're all so young.
06:45Imagine what they've been through.
06:47And we're so grateful that they will be coming home, that they'll have a lot of healing ahead
06:51of them.
06:51Right, and we hope that number is in the high 20s, but we just don't know.
06:57An extremely rare moment unfolding on the word of the historic deals, both Israelis and
07:02Palestinians celebrating in the street.
07:04Steve Harrigan joins us now from Tel Aviv with details on what comes next.
07:09Steve.
07:11Ainsley, another excellent sign.
07:13Israeli officials now announcing that there is a ceasefire in Gaza.
07:17Now, Israeli forces still on the territory.
07:19They will respond if attacked, but basically taking up a defensive posture right now.
07:25So certainly an excellent sign.
07:26Ceasefire in this two-year war from the Israeli side.
07:29President Trump saying the 48 hostages will be coming home on Monday.
07:33What we're going to see here next will be an Israeli cabinet meeting.
07:37It's likely that most or all of those cabinet members will sign off on this deal.
07:42And then over the next 24 hours, we're likely to see the Israeli military redeploy inside
07:47of Gaza, moving back to a predetermined line.
07:50It's not exactly clear where that line will be at this point.
07:54After all the 48 hostages are released, only then will the Palestinian prisoners, 250 of
08:00them serving life terms, be released.
08:01Really, across this nation, people woke up with a tremendous sense of joy that you can just
08:08feel, especially family members of those living and of those who died in Hamas captivity.
08:13It's a happy day.
08:18It's a holiday here.
08:19That's what we wanted for such a long time.
08:21Carmel, my cousin, was murdered in captivity.
08:23She's not going to come back.
08:24It's too late for her, but it's not too late.
08:2748 hostages are going to come back.
08:2920 of them are going to come back alive.
08:31And this is such a happy moment for us, the families of the hostages.
08:35Such a happy moment for all Israelis and for all the Middle East.
08:39President Trump's stressing how important it is for those 28 dead hostages to come back
08:46to be returned to their families.
08:47And you can see there just how important it is.
08:49Of course, challenges still remain in the bigger picture in the longer term.
08:54Israel wants Hamas to disarm.
08:55Israel wants to make sure Hamas will play no role in a future government of Gaza.
09:00Those points still to be worked out.
09:02But President Trump invited to address the Knesset Sunday and then witness some of his masterful
09:08diplomacy.
09:09Guys, back to you.
09:10All right.
09:11Thanks so much, Steve.
09:12The last thing we and we'll talk to Steve a little bit later.
09:15But I just think that the president gets that word when he's having an Antifa conference.
09:19And then as the details are getting ironed out, as Jaron Kushner and Steve Witkoff led our
09:24delegation, then he was kind enough to hop on with Sean last night.
09:28Yes.
09:28Here is Donald Trump talking about how the world has come together around this deal.
09:32We had some tremendous help, as you know, with everybody from Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner
09:40and Marco.
09:42And we had everybody.
09:43JD, the whole group was just amazing.
09:47And the military was, as you know, very instrumental in getting this done.
09:52We have a great military with great leadership.
09:55The whole world came together, to be honest.
09:57So many countries that you wouldn't have even thought of it.
10:00They came together.
10:01The world has come together around this deal.
10:04So the world came together.
10:06But also, Brian, I think it's important to know that the president was already on this
10:10path in the first term.
10:11That's why I think it was so important to bring Jared Kushner in the final days of this,
10:17because obviously he was an architect of the Abraham Accords under the president's leadership.
10:22If he would have had another term back to back, I think October 7th would have never happened,
10:28for one.
10:28And number two, there would have been peace.
10:30He's picking up where he left off.
10:32Right.
10:32And the Arab world coming together, working with us, letting us take the lead on that.
10:37It's because I think that for the first time in my lifetime, they're thinking economy and
10:41their future first.
10:43Joining us now from the Foundation of the Defense of Democracy, Dr. Jonathan Shanzer.
10:48Jonathan, great to see you.
10:50We're very optimistic.
10:51It seems like a great moment.
10:53What are your biggest worries right now as we look to execute the deal that's framed out?
10:59A couple of things.
10:59I mean, first, let's just say this is an incredible day.
11:04Almost two years to the day after the war started, Donald Trump brings this to an end.
11:08So I think we've got a lot to celebrate.
11:10But I think, you know, a couple of things that I'm watching right now.
11:12Number one, Iran's not done with this war.
11:15There's probably another round with Israel coming.
11:18In other words, even if Hamas stops the war, Iran, its primary patriot, is still on the war
11:22path.
11:23They still want to destroy Israel.
11:24We're going to see another round.
11:26So, you know, we have to keep an eye out on that.
11:29Donald Trump obviously has chastened the regime.
11:32But I don't know if it's done seeking those nukes, building those missiles, and certainly
11:38not trying to destroy the state of Israel.
11:40That is what this regime is built for.
11:43And so I'm still watching that.
11:45I'm concerned.
11:46The Houthis, we've been watching them.
11:48They've been firing missiles.
11:50And nothing is going to stop them from continuing to fire.
11:53If they want to, they may see this as a sign that maybe their war is ended.
11:57Because, well, quite frankly, the United States, Israel, they've been beating up on the Houthis
12:02every time they've fired.
12:03So maybe they're willing to stand down.
12:05But it's not entirely clear.
12:08So we're watching all of that.
12:10And then just one other thing that I'm watching right now, I don't know who's getting released
12:15on the Palestinian side.
12:16I've heard rumors that there could be some senior people that are sitting in Israeli jails
12:22that have a lot of blood on their hands.
12:24That's the one thing that the right wing in Israel is watching for right now.
12:29I don't know if it's going to stop the deal.
12:30But you may hear some grumpiness out of Jerusalem a little bit later today.
12:35Dr. Shanzer, how do you think this happened?
12:38Because we're dealing with a terrorist organization.
12:41We saw what Hamas did on October 7th.
12:44What made them want to sit down at the table?
12:46In the photos, you have a Hamas leader, the Hamas leader, smiling.
12:51How did the United States and these Arab countries get Hamas to agree to this?
12:57Well, a couple things.
12:59I mean, number one, Hamas was defeated a long time ago.
13:02I mean, they are a shadow of themselves.
13:04The United States continue to provide the weapons to Israel, despite all the pressure,
13:10despite all of the condemnation all around the world.
13:13I think Donald Trump held his ground.
13:16It was a remarkable show of fortitude to stand by our ally and to let them finish this war.
13:23Hamas really couldn't continue fighting.
13:26They were too weak to fight.
13:27And I think they just needed a little push over the edge to finally quit this war.
13:32And I do think that that's what's happened.
13:35But I also think that, you know, this all started, in my view, on September 9th.
13:42The Israelis launched an attack in the heart of Doha, Qatar.
13:47That's where the Hamas leadership was based.
13:50The Qataris thought that no one would ever hit them.
13:53No one would ever dare to do this.
13:56And the moment that that happened, the moment the Israelis took that initiative,
13:59I think the Qataris looked around.
14:01They said, wait a minute.
14:02We need a little help here from the United States.
14:04We want protection.
14:06Can you offer us protection?
14:07And Donald Trump swooped in.
14:09I got to say, this was a stroke of brilliance.
14:11The man said, OK, you know, we can help you.
14:14We can make sure that you're never attacked again.
14:16But you have to bring Hamas to heal.
14:18You've got to end this war.
14:20And that's what happened with Qatar.
14:22Jonathan, it's such a brilliant point.
14:24And there is even that famous photo from a couple weeks ago of the president of the United States holding the phone.
14:32The United States.
14:32But they were sponsors of terrorism.
14:35They were supporters of Hamas from day one.
14:37And they were not entirely in the tent.
14:41They were not trying to end the war.
14:43Donald Trump said, OK, I understand.
14:45You want to meet with me?
14:47You want access to me?
14:48You want the United States to help you?
14:51Here's what I need from you.
14:53And I think, you know, it was transactional.
14:55But it was transformational at the end of the day.
14:58And again, full credit to Donald Trump for understanding that there was a window there that he could force open.
15:05Jonathan, such a great point.
15:06Because two days before Prime Minister Netanyahu visited, the Turkish leader visited.
15:10And the fact is, when the president was able to get the prime minister on the phone with the Qatari officials,
15:14it showed the president had power and leverage with Israel.
15:18So, therefore, he got instant credibility in this whole deal.
15:22Jonathan, great points.
15:23Thanks so much for kicking us off.
15:24Thanks, Dr. Shanzer.
15:27Pleasure.
15:28The Israelis, U.S. allies, and congressional leaders are praising President Trump's leadership and bringing this war to an end.
15:34Lucas Tomlinson joins us live from Washington with more.
15:37Good morning, Lucas.
15:38Good morning, guys.
15:39In an interview with Sean Hannity, after the historic announcement, President Trump credited Arab allies with helping get to phase one of this peace deal
15:47and returning all the hostages home, as well as the B-2 strike on Iran back in June.
15:52He also said tariffs made a big impact as well.
15:56With what we've done in the United States, I think we top everybody by a lot with the tariffs and all of that.
16:02But, you know, having the ability to deal with trade, having the ability to use tariffs to help me make a point,
16:11the tariffs have brought peace to the world.
16:14I'm telling you, they brought peace to the world, not only here, but with so many other deals.
16:19A reaction pouring in.
16:20Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said,
16:22A great day for Israel.
16:24Tomorrow I will convene the government to approve the agreement and bring all of our dear hostages home.
16:29I thank from the bottom of my heart President Trump and his team for their dedication to this sacred mission of freeing our hostages.
16:37And Turkey's president, who Brian mentioned, met with Trump at the U.N. and later at the White House last month, said,
16:42quote, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to U.S. President Trump,
16:46who demonstrated the necessary political will to encourage the Israeli government toward the ceasefire.
16:52And Britain's prime minister, who, along with the leaders of France and Australia and others,
16:56supported a Palestinian state, said, I welcome the news that a deal has been reached on the first stage of President Trump's peace plan for Gaza.
17:03This is a moment of profound relief that will be felt all around the world.
17:07And lawmakers from both parties praising President Trump, Chuck Schumer, saying this brings a huge sigh of relief to the hostage families,
17:14to all of Israel and to Palestinians who have suffered for so long in this horrific humanitarian catastrophe.
17:20The top Republican in the Senate, John Thune, says nobody has worked harder for peace and stability in the Middle East than President Trump.
17:27I remain skeptical of Hamas's motivations, but I am optimistic that the first steps announced today bring the region closer to peace than at any point in the last two years.
17:36It's past time to return all of the hostages.
17:38John Fetterman said, I congratulate the president on an historic peace plan that releases all of the hostages.
17:44Now, an enduring peace in the region is possible.
17:46So some rare bipartisan support here in Washington for President Trump, guys.
17:51All right, Lucas, thanks so much.
17:53A Saudi channel, TV channel, is reporting that Hamas has started moving the hostages to secure locations
17:59in preparation for them to be handed over as part of the deal that was just announced.
18:05Jim Hansen, we're all moving forward, but we also have our eyes wide open about who we're dealing with.
18:10As you run counterterror operations against groups like Hamas as a U.S. Army special officer, what is your greatest worry at this hour?
18:21You cannot trust Hamas as everyone's greatest worry.
18:24I think what President Trump did was phenomenal.
18:27He put together a coalition of groups, countries that have never really worked together for one goal.
18:33And, I mean, he made it a point from the very beginning of his presidency.
18:36His first trip was to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
18:41Getting those three together and on board, adding Turkey, Egypt, and others, was phenomenal.
18:46But in the end, none of those people can rely on Hamas to do the right thing.
18:52Hamas has never done the right thing.
18:54So I think that's going to be the difficulty is everyone who has been pressuring them, and that has been at the behest of Donald Trump, needs to keep that up.
19:03And that's going to be the challenge to the rest of this process.
19:06You know, Jim, the standard for life when it comes to the radical Islamists versus the Jews has always been one Israeli life for a thousand fighters.
19:18We saw that back in 2011 with Gilad Shalit when they traded those thousand war fighters that were a part of Hamas.
19:28Yaya Senwar was one of those people.
19:32And so I guess, you know, although we are celebrating this deal and this is great for the world, the concern is could one of those fighters go back to the battlefield and plan on October 7th?
19:44What can Israel do to ensure that doesn't happen?
19:49They will absolutely try to do that.
19:51Greg Roman, who runs the Middle East Forum, wrote a piece about that, specifically noting that the estimate is that somewhere around 1,700 prisoners are going to be released, all of whom are some of the worst of Hamas, which is saying a lot.
20:08So when they go back, they have not had some magical conversion.
20:11You know, they did not undergo a transformation in prison to decide that they no longer hate the Jews.
20:17So once this happens and Israel gets its people back, they're going to have to look at what happens next in Gaza, in the West Bank and the rest of the Palestinian territories to see who's running it.
20:30And I think that's where the rest of the Gulf states come in.
20:32It cannot be Hamas.
20:34It may be some version of a reformed Palestinian authority in the West Bank, but someone has to raise up in Gaza and replace Hamas, become the benefactor of the people of Gaza, not their leader to destruction.
20:48Jim, will this hold and what is the reconstruction of Gaza look like and who will finance that?
20:56Well, will it hold?
20:58Let's see.
20:58Let's get the hostages home on Monday.
21:00God, please grant the families that relief.
21:04And then, as I mentioned, the large number of countries, basically all the players in the region are on board this.
21:11They're behind President Trump's effort.
21:13They have pledged to be part of the reconstruction.
21:15They have pledged to be part of the security that's going to be necessary.
21:19I think there will be an effort to find the people in Gaza who were most maligned by Hamas and use those groups, those tribes, those families as the new leadership and push aid and, you know, reconstruction money in through them.
21:37So that the people of Gaza then look to them and look to the rest of the region and the United States as the people who are guaranteeing them a chance for prosperity, something Hamas has never done and never can do.
21:51Jim, thank you so much.
21:53Thanks, Jim.
21:54Meanwhile, yeah, so we're talking about a lot has to a lot of moving ports still.
21:58We don't know the details of how many points of the 20 point plan that the president released last week have been satisfied.
22:04We know that the we also know that Hamas was saying, yeah, I'm not for this, putting down our gun stuff.
22:09So they were holding out for that.
22:11They also want the Israelis all the way out of of Gaza.
22:15The Israelis go, no, we're going to this yellow line.
22:17They're going to stay 53 percent.
22:18They're going to stay 53 percent of Gaza until all the hostages are out.
22:22And so we'll see the details.
22:24Meanwhile, Carly has the other news.
22:25I do.
22:26Yeah, guys, in a big development here at home, a suspect facing federal charges in connection with January's deadly Palisades fire is expected back in court.
22:34For a closed door bond hearing this morning, Jonathan Rindernack was arrested in central Florida on Tuesday.
22:41The 29-year-old Uber driver is accused of using a lighter to purposely spark what would become one of the most destructive fires in Los Angeles history.
22:51Thousands of people were forced to evacuate.
22:54Though homes and businesses cannot be rebuilt, this arrest, we hope, will provide a measure of justice to all those who were impacted.
23:03Twelve people were killed in more than 6,800 homes and businesses destroyed.
23:09Rindernack faces charges that carry a possible 20-year prison sentence.
23:13And officials say upgraded charges, including murder, could follow.
23:17The government shutdown entering day nine.
23:20Intentionally, tensions boiling over on Capitol Hill, leading to a heated exchange between House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and GOP Congressman Mike Lawler.
23:28Hold their respect.
23:30You voted multiple times to keep the government shut down, okay?
23:34The Republican members from Arizona voted to keep the government open.
23:37So don't sit here and try to lecture us about whether or not we did our job.
23:41We did our job.
23:42You did not.
23:42There's 11 Republicans on it.
23:44There's four Democrats.
23:45It's a bipartisan bill to extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies.
23:48If you believe in it so much, why won't you sign on to it?
23:52Do you understand math?
23:53You could get your whole conference to sign on to it today.
23:55The shutdown showdown comes as President Trump is holding the eighth cabinet meeting of his second term today.
24:01The candidates for New Jersey governor squaring off in their second and final debate last night.
24:08Just weeks before Election Day, Republican Jack Cittarelli and Democrat Mikey Sherrill tackling critical issues like soaring energy prices, immigration, and President Trump's use of the National Guard.
24:19Military members should not be on our streets.
24:22It makes people less safe.
24:24It makes people feel less safe.
24:26If you see the president saying when he was with Hegseth recently that he's going to use our U.S. cities as training grounds for our military, that is unacceptable.
24:34I will not stand for that as governor.
24:36My opponent has not said a word about getting rid of sanctuary cities, the Immigrant Trust Directive.
24:40She's not said a word about reforming bail reform.
24:42Yet cops will tell you all the time that this is one of the things getting in the way of keeping our community safe.
24:47We will be a law and order state again.
24:50A recent Fox News poll show Sherrill leading by eight points.
24:53We will discuss with a panel of New Jersey voters at 7.30 a.m. Eastern Time.
24:58Those are your headlines, guys.
24:59You're the problem.
25:01You have a New Jersey debate when the Phillies are in the playoffs and the Yankees are in the playoffs.
25:05And so I'm sorry, even if you're really into it, if you're a politician, you're probably watching baseball.
25:10Not to worry.
25:11We will play the clips for you this morning.
25:13All the highlights.
25:14Yes.
25:14Paving the way to peace.
25:15Thank you, Carly.

25:17Our next guest was in Israel during October 7th, those terror attacks, and says this is the deal that Israel has been praying for for years.
25:29Biden's media blitz met with Democratic disdain, wishes he would go away.
25:34As the former president returned to the spotlight, Democrats, strategists, and journalists criticised his remarks.
25:43President Joe Biden's media blitz was met with criticism last week as the former president returned to the spotlight to speak out about the 2024 election.
25:54His decision to exit the race and the allegations about his mental fitness in several books about the election.
26:00It's time for Joe Biden to go away with all the respect and let the next generation of Democrats take the mantle.
26:09Democratic strategist Chuck Rocha told Politico every time he appears on a show or says something,
26:16it's just another week or a month that we have to defend him and remind everybody that we got beat by Donald Trump again.
26:23Biden spoke to the BBC on Wednesday and with ABC's The View on Thursday, where he was also joined by his wife, former first lady Jill Biden.
26:33The former president notably said it wouldn't have mattered if he exited the race sooner and revealed he wasn't surprised former vice president Kamala Harris had lost.
26:43For those of us trying to rebuild a brand, it does no good when you are constantly reminded about the old brand that won't go away.
26:53Rocha added, he told the outlet that the only good thing about Biden's interview on The View was quickly overshadowed by the selection of a new pope.
27:02A former Biden official told The Hill that Biden wasn't helping Democratic brands after his interview tour.
27:15Elections are about the future. Every time Joe Biden emerges, we fight an old war.
27:21Democratic strategist and former Biden administration official Anthony Cole told the outlet,
27:25Every interview he does provides a contrast to Trump that's just not helpful for the Democratic brand,
27:32which needs trusted messengers and fighters who we can reach, independents and moderates and inspire the base.
27:39Joe Biden ain't that.
27:42He acknowledged that Biden taking responsibility for Trump's win was a good thing, but also said it might not matter at this point.
27:51Honestly, what good does that do now?
27:54Many Democrats, from elected leaders to party faithfuls, are just ready to turn the page.
28:01I just don't think he understands how wide and deep this sentiment is, Cole said.
28:06The co-hosts of Pod Save America, who all worked for former President Barack Obama, also bashed Biden's media tour.
28:15Host John Favreau asked his co-hosts how they thought Biden did during The View interview, and they laughed.
28:24Host John Favreau said Biden survived the interview, and most of it was hard to follow, as Joe Biden had to step in for Biden at one point.
28:35What's the audience for this?
28:36The American people have pretty decided on the question of was Joe Biden too old, and they were decided long before the debate.
28:45And I don't know that one interview, or two interviews, or a thousand interviews is going to fix it.
28:51Nothing's going to change that perspective, he said.
28:54Favreau pushed back on the Democratic strategists, who have praised Biden for speaking out.
29:02The answer is he shouldn't have run for a second term.
29:05And when he did run for a second term, he should have stepped down much earlier after the debate.
29:11I think that every Democratic politician, particularly those who want to lead the party and want to run in 2028, have to just rip them band-aids off, Favreau said.
29:24Favreau went on to argue that Biden's media tour was all about him defending himself rather than speaking out against a sitting president.
29:32One thing that I found very frustrating is Biden can't, like we know him, this is the pride in him.
29:40But I find it very aggravating and frankly infuriating when he says that he thinks he would have won.
29:46Favreau added, it's politically insane, right?
29:48It's detached from reality.
29:50But even if you truly believe that, to verbalise that in such a way, direct way, repeatedly, is to me so disrespectful to Kamala Harris, who he put in an impossible position.
30:02Biden's claim that he would have won similarly annoyed MSNBC's Antonia Hilton, Ayman Mollinde and Katharine Rampel on Saturday.
30:12Hilton wondered, who is this for?
30:16He's not speaking to what a lot of people have been asking for, which is some clear story of opposition.
30:22Who we are, what are we, delivering an opposition to Trump in the current moment.
30:27None of that really was present there.
30:29It kind of seemed all about me and my legacy to a lot of people, including voters, the fellow reporters, politicians, and I've spoken to in recent days, Hilton continued.
30:41Mollindean specifically called out Biden for choose and go on The View, a highly friendly venue for the former president.
30:48No disrespect whatsoever to The View, but if Joe Biden wants to have a conversation about his legacy and his policies, he should have done a hard-hitting interview with somebody.
31:04He said, that's where somebody can actually hold his feet to the fire and ask him questions about the decisions he made.
31:11And there's a reason why they wanted to go on The View.
31:14And to your point, why now?
31:18After Biden's BBC interview, but before the interview on The View,
31:23Aisla Farhan Griffin, a CNN political commentator and co-host on the ABC talk show, said Democrats didn't want to see Biden out there right now.
31:32Former CNN host, Chris Klisa, said after the BBC interview that Biden was still in denial about the election.
31:42Politico further reported last week that the former president hired veteran strategist Chris Meagher, a former Biden deputy press secretary and defence department spokesperson, to help fend off attacks on his legacy.
31:55A Democratic operative told the outlet that Biden was trying to convince himself and the country that he wasn't responsible for Trump's return to the White House.
32:06There are a lot of young people and dynamic leaders in the Democratic Party who are focused on the path forward and it's better we focus on them instead of an old man trying to convince himself and America that he isn't responsible for Donald Trump's re-election.
32:27The operative said remaining anonymous.
32:30Biden did acknowledge some responsibility for Trump's win during his appearance on The View.
32:39I don't think he's reading the room at the moment, Third Way's Matt Bennett told Politico of Biden's media blitz.
32:47I think the party ultimately will come around to the view that he did a good job as president, that he passed a lot of big things.
32:55But the horrible devastation we're witnessing with the Trump administration, which is undoing a lot of good things that he did and the anger and despair that Democrats feel makes this an inauspicious moment for him to re-enter the debate, he continued.
33:16Biden's team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
33:19Some fans of the president have defended his return to the spotlight, including Democratic strategist Ashlyn 18, who served as a senior advisor to Biden, as well as allies in the Democratic Party, such as Representative Jim Clinton, DSC and former Democratic National Committee Chair James Harrison.
33:40I think this is an incredible, incredible inflection point as a nation, as a world, and people like Joe Biden add value to the conversation when he's forced on being constructive, 18 told Politico.
33:54Seeing Joe Biden reminds me that our president can be a good, decent and honest leader.
34:02Reminds me that we have had presidents with slight majorities that have legislated to protect the environment, stabilise and grow the economy, created new jobs, reduced the cost of health care and invested in our infrastructure and respected our nation's history.
34:19I will always be grateful to President Biden for his commitment to saving America in one of the darkest times.
